I have pretty high hopes for this, as I love all of these notes. Wet: Hmm, something woody? Oh the patch, I guess. Then the tobacco flower takes over. I do tend to amp it, but I thought the other strong notes (like the musk, at least) would come through. Not so much. Dry: The patch amps up to, and it becomes a patchouli/nicotiana combo that's really interesting. There's a hint of fruity sweetness from the currant. It's ok, but not amazing on me. I can't complain though, the Carnaval has so many scents that ARE amazing on me!

Wet: Soap. I love rose, but some varieties turn straight to soap on me, and that's what's happened here. I don't even get any incense, but soap. Sometimes once a scent warms up, it recovers from the soapiness, so hopefully this does. Dry: The throw is still all soap. Nose to skin, I can smell the rose, and faint incense. It's nice, but I can't get over the soapy throw, and I have other rose/incense blends that work better on my skin chemistry. Glad to have tried it though!

Wet: A cold, slightly minty note. Berry (the loganberry, I have to assume). Something green. It's quite pleasant. Dry: A lot of the cold note burns off, leaving berries and florals. Pretty! It's not knocking my socks off, but it's lovely and fresh smelling, and I quite like it.

Wet: rosewood sometimes starts out really sour on me, and that's what this is. Sour rosewood, with hints of Frankincense underneath. Dry: Soap. Beautiful soap. Like the most gorgeous Victorian soap. It's so pretty I would almost wear it as perfume, even though it is so so soapy. It's sweet, a tiny bit peppery (the geranium) and very clean smelling. It grows on me every time I sniff it. It has a very classic feel about it. It's elegant.

Wet: Sweet woods, hints of palm. A somewhat fruity tobacco. Really interesting. Much fruitier than I expected actually, and sweeter. It's very lush and tropical feeling. Dry: This is more tropical and less tobacco than I expected, but I do quite like it. Whatever leather note is in it is totally wearable for me. The date palm is the strongest note, and I really like it. Interesting! Glad to have an imp. Wouldn't mind having a bottle, either.

Wet: Odd. Fruity, sort of creamy. Kind of "grainy" if that makes any sense. And also chemically. I think that's the ozone, ya bamboo and ozone, the more I sniff the more that makes sense, I think I just don't care much for it. Dry: It gets better, though it's still not something I care much for. It's tough to describe. Sweet, green, creamy. That's about all I got.

Wet: Amber, saffron and musk are dominant on me so far. Really interesting! I wasn't sure what to expect. It's a bit dusty smelling - I suppose that's fitting. This strikes me as somehow very "traditional". I kind of like it! Dry: Really interesting. Such a warm, glowing scent. I like the spiciness, I like the perfuminess. I just...like it! Not sure how much I would wear it, but am glad to have an imp.

In my obsession with Wanderlust, I tracked down an imp of this. Wet: Dark and murky, indeed! Very sinister. Some kind of "stone" or "rock" note is what I am getting most of - smells like cold minerals. Really interesting! I was expecting more of an aquatic/green sort of deal. It's kind of turning to harsh chemicals, which is none too pleasant. Dry: This recovers and dries into a sort of tropical, aquatic, floral. It's actually quite nice. There are still some traces of that weird chemical smell, but I think in time those will burn off as well.

I am obsessed with the Wanderlust category, so I had to track down an imp of this. Wet: Sweet and spicy! Lots of cinnamon, for sure. I can pick out dry, dusty cardamom too, and ginger I think. Some pepper, based on the way it tickles my nose! Kind of clears your sinuses! I like it a lot, but doubt I would wear it as a perfume. It would make the most amazing candle though! Dry: Not much of a morpher. Still cinnamon dominant. Fairly sweet. Nice, but not something I would wear much.
-
I have this desire to collect a full set of the Wanderlust scents (imps, that is) even the discontinued ones. So I have set about hunting them all down! Wet: Banana candy, indeed! But more complex than that. It's tropical and rich. It doesn't actually smell artificial, like those neon yellow candies, but it also doesn't smell like fresh banana. More like dried banana chips, I think, and heady jungle blooms. I wasn't actually expecting to like this much, but I kind of do! Dry: The banana fades and it become lush, heady jungle blooms and some greenery. I really like it, and if I ever get the chance I may try to hunt down a bottle!

Wait wait, so you found roller balls that fit right onto your BPAL bottles?? And the cap still fits and everything?? The rollerballs fit right into the BPAL bottles, however you have to use their cap as the regular cap is not deep enough. I got mine from GotOilSupplies and they work great! I have used the bottles for my other essential oils. I went back onto the site and found these. They should work without having to buy the entire bottle. That is so cool, thanks for the info! I love the idea of a roller bottle, but am way too attached to my BPAL bottles to switch over. My only concern would be the metal, I have heard folks mention metal can react with certain oils/scents??

Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations
LizziesLuck replied to Morrighana's topic in Recommendations
Gattepefur was the bread and jam fellow. Stufur is like medieval carrot cake, to me, so also worth mentioning! And not to forget BPTP, The Strange Old woman is like a delicious cinnamon pecan roll....mmmm. Moons of Jupiter: Adrastea is also really foodie on me - like warm pastry with honey and cream - yummy and comforting. Those are the only ones I can think of right now that may not have been mentioned up thread, as they are fairly recent. ETA: Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake! How could I forget it, it's so delicious on me. -
The scent of a moonlit night on the road, orchards in the distance, and swirling dust. I am always intrigued yet wary of scents with no notes listed. This description is so evocative though, I just had to smell it. Wet: Immediately I get something green, something mildly aquatic, and I think some mint? Nope, not mint PINE. Blarg. Something in here is turning to cat pee on me. Dry: It recovered from being cat pee, thank goodness, and now smells mostly like a foggy forest. Which is really cool (how does Beth DO that?) but not something I want to smell like. Really glad I got to try it, but also really glad it was a decant instead of a blind bottle....

I love all of these notes, except vetiver which I am ok with (my skin frequently just eats it right up and I don't smell it) and tolu balsam, which I am totally unfamiliar with and just had to Google. (Apparently it's a resin that should smell primarily of cinnamon and vanilla - win win) Wet: Tea. Spices. Mmm. Wow, I think I am actually really smelling the tolu balsam, and it is beautiful, warm and spicy. Not exactly like cinnamon, but the same sort of feel. It's mixing with the ginger and saffron to make this into a gorgeous spicy tea. It's not like Chai to me. It's unique, and I would drink it. I think I would also wear it. I was hoping for a bit more apricot, but I love the spiciness of this so much that I am not missing it much. There is something really exotic about this. If the source of the spices wasn't listed, I would struggle to pick out exactly what they are. Not even a hint of vetiver on me, not surprising. And the tea has really just become a base for the spices. I can't stop huffing my wrist. Dry: This is so unique. I love getting to say that about a BPAL even after I have tried hundreds. This reminds me of nothing I have smelled. It's predominantly spicy, but there is something grassy about it too, like apocalyptic winds blowing across fallow fields. I don't find this vulgar at all, these lyrics are singing right to me. This is an Autumnal fragrance to me, and I will be hunting down a bottle for fall.

I hadn't really had this on my radar (I have a ton of rose blends) but had the opportunity to pick it up along with something else I really wanted. It has coconut listed, that was really the deciding factor, as I had really hoped for a gorgeous rose/coconut combo out of Roses, Pearls and Diamond, and I can never smell the coconut in that one. Wet: Oh I can smell the coconut for sure! Blended with the musk (which is reminiscent of skin musk, on me) it is the dominant note, and it's gorgeous. I am loving this, it is not at all what I expected. Rose hasn't taken over the way it almost always does on me. Dry: What a surprise hit! It's not actually a rose blend on me - which is odd, I usually amp the shit out of rose. But I'm not mad at it, because it's a COCONUT blend on me, which is even better! I adore coconut and reach for it all summer. This is coconut and musk and a little je ne sais quoi. Much more feminine than Tiki King, which is also coconut and musk on me. This is still dark though, and a little sinister. I love it. I will wear the heck out of this in warm weather. Plus, I love the name a lot. Let's be honest, that matters. Lol.

Strawberry and I have a love-hate relationship (as with a few other fruits as well). I love it, and love the idea of smelling like it - it hates me and routinely turns to plastic on me. So don't ask me why I feel like this might be different. Maybe it's the reviews saying it's more like REAL strawberry than strawberry candy? Maybe it's cuz there are grass and dandelion sap listed - green notes that I adore? I dunno, but I blind bottled it anyway, so let's see if I regret it! Wet: oh my gosh, does it ever smell "real!" Like a bowl of cut up, freshly picked strawberries nice and tart-sweet!. Oh and there's the grass. Wow, this is BEAUTIFUL. It feels sun-warmed. It makes me want to go strawberry picking. Or just be outside. If it turns to plastic at this point I might actually cry, it's just so lovely. It brings such a smile to my face! This feels like the perfect picnic scent. It makes me wish it were summer right now. Dry: It does lose a little of its freshness and tartness as it dries - which is interesting, it's kind of like the berry is "ripening" right on my wrist. It retains that sun-warmed feel, and I really do love it. I just ordered SN Egg Hunt Grass Stain, and I can't wait to layer these two together, to hopefully keep that green fresh feel going a little longer. I do enjoy this just as it is too. Summer in a bottle!

A Rosy Colour Paints Her Claws With Honor
LizziesLuck replied to Lady_Fire's topic in BPAL Anniversary
Wet: Wow, interesting. I think I am actually smelling the "scales of gold" as a note - there is something metallic about this, but in a very pleasant way. Lots of rose, but it's a sort of "watery" rose. Very feminine and pretty. Sadly, the musk is not coming through - I was hoping for red musk and roses. The geranium is just a hint. This is quite lovely. Dry: Rose dominant. Somehow, the red musk and metal notes I am detecting have blended together to sort of smell like leather, making this smell a lot like Whip on me. Which I totally love, but already have. If I didn't find them so similar and already have Whip, I would want a bottle of this. It's feminine, with an edge, and I love that. -
Wet: This is nuttier than I expected! Like a toasted almond or something. Or...coffee? With spice in it? I'm also getting hints of something like caramel. It's interesting, and really nice, but it wants to go both powdery and plasticy on my skin, boo! Dry: Not very long lasting on me. It avoids turning plastic, but is quite powdery, what's left of it. Other than that it's just a vague sweetness. Not unpleasant, but not something I have a desire to wear.

I agree with the above, The Waltz is super romantic, to me Body, Remember is very sensually romantic as well. Immediately though, I thought of The Bride from this year's Lupers - in my notes I wrote "the most romantic floral". It's a bit hard to find, but to my Katrina Van Tassel is pretty romantic, to me. Same with Hesiod's Phoenix, but in more of a warm, snuggly way. I find La Cloche Fêlée romantic, in a haunting sort of way.

Pure love! I only wish it lasted a bit longer and was a bit stronger on my skin. To me, this is the same rum note that is in Red Lantern. Sexy, smoky and sweet. Love it! So glad I grabbed a bottle!

This might as well be named "a few of my favourite things", however the orris have a high potential of ruining it on my skin. In the imp, it smells amazing, white rose, coconut, sweet, rich. Love. Wet: Oh god, plastic. That was unexpected! That'll be the vanilla then, but usually vanilla tea doesn't do that. Actually, vanilla in general has gotten much better on me as my skin chemistry has changes, so this is odd. There's some truly lovely things going on, on my wrist, but it's overshadowed by burning plastic. Blarg. So sad! Dry: As it's drying, it's getting less plastic, but the orris is amping up, so I am trading one bad smell for another. Orris smells like violets on me, which smell like powdered death on me, and give me a migraine. I had SUCH might hopes for this. Alas, not for my skin.

Wet: Clean, citrusy. A bit sweet. I don't think I have ever really been able to identify skin musk in anything before, it's quite interesting and not what I was expecting, but I can smell it in this too. The clean citrus is dominant though. There's a sexy, musky smell, covered over by clean lemon. It's like someone cleaned a room to clear the odour of sex from it, and didn't quite succeed...that's right, I know what you've been up to Dry: Much the same, not a morpher on me. The scent of sex, overlaid with clean lemons. Not entirely sure how I feel about it. Super glad to have tried it though!

Hi! I received a frimp of something labelled "P05" or possibly "PO5" (but I think it is more likely the number 05). I could just ask the seller what it is (and I might end up doing that) but she's got a lot on her plate, plus, I LOVE a good mystery, and even more, a mystery solved!! I can't search for it n the forum because of that whole under 4 letters things. I tried Google, that was no help. And it's not on my Spread Sheet of Doom either (which is not very up-to-date on protos and unreleased scents anyway). I can't pick out "for sure" notes from it for the life of me! Faint hints of spice? A fougere? MAYBE some creamy pumpkin or something else foodie? No clue! But it's fun. Any help is appreciated!

So, I just went to pull up the recommendation thread for carnation....and there wasn't one (mods, please correct me if I am wrong and just couldn't find it!) But this seemed a shame to me. It's one of my two favourite floral notes! I simply adore carnation. My favourite is in Alice Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot. I also love it in Queen Alice Carnation, posies, and white amber with a hint of inky treacle, sandy cider, and wooly wine I adore it in Frumious Bandersnatch Bandersnatch musk, redolent of spicy carnations, wild plums and chrysanthemum and will likely cry when my bottle is gone I catch nice hints of it in Judith and Holofernes Skin musk, honey, carnation, French magnolia, patchouli, sandalwood, and immortelle. And from BPTP, I LOVE L'essence de la Passion Red musk, carnation, myrrh, and honey. I wanted to love Maiden but it was more tea on me than carnation white tea, carnation and Damask Rose. I thought I loved Liebeszauber but the cubeb just took too long to settle down and let the other notes shine. Honey, rose petals, and carnations – a drop of blood – red clover, cubeb berries, and vanilla cream. I want to hear everyone else's carnation favourites! ETA: Thanks LiberAmoris! I searched for "Carnation" never thought to try the plural! Duh! In that case, anyone have any recent carnation faves??
