I got to try this at a meet and sniff, and it stuck in my head that I loved it, so I added a bottle to my Pretty Indulgent order. Wet: The combo of the woods, patch, and amber almost creates a tobacco type feel to this. It's sweet, earthy, a little dirty (in a good way) and pretty sexy. I don't feel that it's too masculine for me to wear, but I do think it would be good on a man too. The vetiver is just a hint, on me (my skin eats it like crazy) and it seems to be a cross between the smoky and vegetal varieties. Dry: The fig really comes out. The notes here list "fig" but it's listed as "fig leaf" on the Pretty Indulgent site. I wasn't sure which it was going to be, but this is very figgy, as in the fruit, on me. I LOVE fig with Patchouli. This is made sweeter by the amber, and I like whatever woods are present. Really good, glad I remembered liking it and picked up a bottle. I will admit though, it's fairly similar to The Grave-Pig on me, which may be why I like it!

Wet: Citrusy (bergamot) a bit spicy, warm vanilla. Quite cologney to me at first, but it sweetens up and grows a bit more feminine as it warms. It's really strong at first, but fades quite quickly. Dry: This is really sweet, but somehow also quite masculine to me, I think maybe because of the bergamot? It's a warm, musky vanilla, with hints of citrus and spice. Its nice, I like it, but I can't see wearing it. Glad to have tried it, though!

I didn't get this with my decants initially, but then all of a sudden I decided I just HAD to try it....that's happened with a lot of this year's Luper's..... It's super fresh out of the mail, barely even room temp yet! Wet: Wow, the grey amber in this is swoon worthy! And then the pepper joins it, tickling my nose, and creating something really unique. There is something so alluring about the combo of ambergris r grey amber, whatever you want to call it, with a floral - it's what makes me go crazy over A Specific Aberration, and it is totally working for me in this too. The pepper keeps amping though, and it's starting to drown out the other notes, which makes me pretty sad. Dry: This actually ends up smelling very similar to A Specific Aberration on me. This is a bit sweeter, and a bit of the pepperiness remains. Overall though, as much as I like this, I love Aberration more, and I already have a bottle of it, so likely don't need more of The Mirror. I am so glad I tried this, because now I know how much I love that ambergris/floral combo. It's truly beautiful.

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

The Carnaval came around once before and then was sadly gone (I think in 2011?), but it is now making its reappearance! Act I and Act II were re-released this past summer, and we are all eagerly awaiting the re-release of the next acts! -
I'll be honest, none of these notes appeal to me, other than the honeysuckle, however I am so enamored of the whole Wanderlust collection that I feel compelled to try them all! Wet: Green tea. Which always smells kind of artificial, once it's on my skin - it just doesn't mesh well with my chemistry, unfortunately. Not really picking up on the other notes. Just very sweet green tea. Dry: This is REALLY strong, and the throw is really good too. It's almost green tea single note on me, with just a hint of lemon and some sweetness. It's not my type of scent at all, but if you like green tea scents, I imagine this would be perfect! It's very clean, and due to it's strength, throw, and lasting power, I bet it would be amazing on a summer day.

I have long avoided everything jasmine, but I do like jasmine tea, so I wondered if maybe that note would be ok on me? Worth a try, as the other notes in this should, in theory, be good on me. Wet: Jasmine. SERIOUSLY?? F U, skin chemistry. Ok, but then it starts to settle a bit, and some other notes come out. The freesia in this is lovely. It's teetering on the edge of soapy though. Some mint is emerging. Dry: This dries down to a slightly floral, slightly herbal mint. Very light on me, my skin almost eats it completed. It's nice, but due to the fact that it lasts no time at all on me, not something that I have a desire to wear. Really glad to have tried it though, and it does turn out that jasmine tea is not horrible on me the same way that jasmine is.

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

This may sound odd, and it may be just me (so hopefully others will chime in if they don't agree, as it really could have been my skin chemistry) but Pecan Pie, from Black Phoenix Trading Post's Great Pie debate, was pretty much clove single note on me. I tried the perfume, bath oil, and hair gloss - all clove, all the time. It made no sense to me, so I literally got cloves out of my spice cabinet to compare, and I was not crazy, what I was smelling was cloves. Just a thought! -
Wet: rose, sweet red musk, and Coca-Cola like opoponax. Syrupy is a good way to describe it. I love red musk, and rose, but the opoponax is making it a little "head-shoppy" for me. Dry: This is more opoponax than the other notes. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it the way I love rose and red musk, so I had been hoping to primarily smell those two notes, rather than the other way around. It's ok, but not what I was looking for, and not something I am likely to wear. If you love all three of these notes though, I highly recommend trying this.

Vanilla cream is one of my favourite notes, and I adore rose, and recently have been loving marshmallow. Strawberry though, is really iffy, but something about this just called to me and I had to try it! Wet: Gorgeous sweet, creamy rose, with hints of sugary marshmallow that teeters on the edge of burnt plastic for a second, then recovers. Not getting any strawberry, and I am totally ok with that, as much as I want to love it, it rarely loves me. Dry: Not a hundred percent sure about this. The strawberry eventually shows up, and as usual, smells really fake on me. I am still getting the lovely rose, vanilla cream and marshmallow notes, but there's also a sort of sickly sweet plastic strawberry scent. Too bad! This smells amazing in the bottle and wet.

I LOVE Smooches, they have seriously my skin. That being said, this is just a review of the scent. This is very fruity, to my nose. I feel like I am smelling apple (the fruit) as well as the apple blossom. I don't pick up much of the rose at all, and I don't detect vanilla or ginger. Mainly just a fruity scent, to me, but lovely for spring/summer and I am glad I got it. I like it enough that I may grab another one before they come down, as I go through Smooches at an alarming rate.

Wet: There is a lot f the vanilla ice cream and kitchen spices on me! Which I am loving. I can smell the wax and just hints of the sandalwood, but I am not finding it particularly smoky. Dry: This does not smell as amazing on my skin as it does in the bottle, sadly. I do quite like it, but I am just not sure if it is wearable on me. It dries down to a creamy, spicy vanilla, with hints of wax and sandalwood, which SOUNDS like it should be awesome on me, but something just seems...off. I will have to test again and see if it's just me today - I am feeling a little under the weather (ok, I'm hung over) and that may be part of the problem. Actually, this keeps growing on me as I continue to huff at it. It's certainly unique! I may like this after all.

Wet: Red musk and popcorn! Or something buttery. Which is kind of amazing. I'm getting hints of all kinds of different yummy things. It kind of smells like Midway mixed with red musk, which is sort of what I was hoping for! Though I am hoping the root beer and tobacco come out a bit more, but I seriously love this. Dry: Red musk overtop of boardwalk/fair food. It's pretty awesome. A sexy gourmand. Really glad I tracked down a bottle! ETA: Testing this again today - I had originally thought it reminded me of Midway with red musk, but actually, it reminds me more of Eat Me with root beer and red musk. AWESOME.

Fresh out of the mail! So excited to have lucked in getting a bottle! Wet: AMAZING. This smells a lot like Black Vanilla and Cardamom Hair Gloss on me (which is actually really heavy on the tobacco and oudh, on me). I LOVE it. It is a bit reminiscent of Antikythera, a bit reminiscent of Revenant Rhythm/Banshee Beat. But it's totally it's own thing at the same time, and it is glorious. This is so sexy, and I am likely going to slather in it (well, sparingly slather) before I go out tonight. Dry: Doesn't morph much. This is really sexy. Not like, in your face sexy. It's subtle, and dark and just makes me feel really good. The sweet oak and bourbon vanilla are strongest on me, and blended together so well that I am actually loving the oak, I usually find it too masculine. This is not masculine, but not overtly feminine either, it's just sexy as hell. Don't know how else to describe it. *swoons*

Wet: This is so interesting. Like nothing I have ever smelled before. The opponax is kind of the star, but I think I am also smelling the patchouli attar, which is much different than any other patch I have smelled, but still recognizable as patch. The dried fruit (I think it's dried plum, aka prunes) is sweetening it and balancing it out nicely. Dry: The dark dried fruits mixed with the oppanox smells like a combination of cola and prunes, which is actually really cool. I like it. I am not sure I would ever wear it, but I am so so glad I dried it, it's different than anything else I have ever smelled.

Iris and Orris are not good on me. And I am aware that this is likely to be strongly those two things on me. But I am addicted to vanilla and coconut, and intrigued by pear stem, and so I wanted to give it a shot. In the imp, I actually do get mostly a woody pear, and coconut! Wet: That's a different story, the pear is there, but so are iris and orris, which both smell like violets on me. They're soft in this though, and not giving me a headache, so I am going to let it dry and see how it turns out. Dry: Violets. Well, I tried. It's actually quite soft, and not terrible, but I just have never been able to care for that scent. Still, glad I gave it a shot.

Lilacs are one of my favourite flowers, I adore honeyed/sugary florals, and lime is one of the few citrus notes I can wear - I HAD to try this! Wet: Lovely honey, slightly green lilacs (reminds me of the lilac note in The Lilac Wood) and a hint of sharp (but not bitter) lime. It's SOO nice. Dry: A gorgeous sugary floral (which I love!). I may need a bottle, but I'll have to death match it against some of my other lilac blends. This is pretty much all lilac (which has lost all its green edge) and honey on me, after it dries down, the lime is gone, It's really beautiful though, I can see wearing it on a hot summer day. ETA 8/18/16 - So, I am an idiot. I decided I have enough lilac scents, and didn't get a bottle of this. I even got rid of my decant. And regretted it when I realized none of the lilac scents I had were as awesome as this one. So I had to track down a bottle, and am now hoping this lives up to my memory! Aaand, it does. The lilac is a bit sharp and green in the beginning, especially with the lime. But it quickly dries into this beautiful honey lilac scent that is to die for. So glad I didn't just forget about it and that I tracked some down!

Wet: There's something almost cola-like about this (the opponax?). It's really dark, kind of gritty, a bit sweet. Interesting. I haven't smelled tobacco tar as a note before, but I think that's what I am mostly getting here. I certainly don't pick up much of the rose, other than a hint of soapiness. Dry: Pleasant. The rose comes out and is very sweet, the musk is dark and powdery. It's quite nice, but it's not amazing on my skin, and I have a lot of other rose blends that work better on me. Glad I tried it though!

I was lucky enough to get a tester of this in a swap. Wow, minty! So refreshing! I'm not getting much vanilla now that its dry (sprayed a pillow) but I do like the mint - it's very sweet, crisp, peppermint I think rather than spearmint. I think its a really great bedtime scent, and will enjoy spraying my sheets with it.
-
This is really nice, though it didn't wow me the way I had hoped...I think maybe because mine is light on the red musk and that's what I was most hoping for. That being said, the red patch in this is to die for! And now that it's drying more (I sprayed a pillow) the musk is coming out more. I will likely thoroughly enjoy spraying this on scarves and such. Its pretty sexy, and I would wear it as a perfume for sure as well.

Wet: Quite light, mostly honey. Creamy. Sort of indistinct though. All of these notes are very familiar, yet I am not really picking any of them out? Maybe it needs to settle. As it is, it's pretty odd. The honey is reminding me more of beeswax, the white fig more of apple...I dunno. Dry: Fruity and sweet, creamy and soft. Sort of dreamy. It gets much better once it settles on my skin. It's still very light though, and difficult to pick out notes. I will have to see how often I reach for it. ETA: This is slowly growing more and more on me as time goes on. It may be really lovely this spring. Very soft and work appropriate.

Wet: OMG such an amazing blast of caramelly, chewy tobacco. Then the wood comes out, and something almost smells like sarsaparilla. It's really good. With this combo of notes, the musk almost smells more like black musk than red musk. This is not what I was expecting. I was hoping for red musk, worried it would be too much woods, but I never expected it would be amazing in this way. It is really really good on me. I think a man could easily wear this too, but I don't find it too masculine for me. It's hard to describe, the whole is more than the sum of its parts. This is unique, sexy, and I am loving it. Dry: Tobacco and musk - doesn't get much sexier than that. I love it. Better even than I had hoped.

Wet: This smells very strongly of rice flower on me, which I recognize from my beloved Molly Grue, though until now I didn't know that was what I was smelling. Love it. It's very different from Molly, of course, because of the other floral notes and the creamy vanilla musk. The carnation is so well behaved in this I can't even smell it (usually amp it like crazy). Something green and really lovely is coming out as well. This is really fresh and lovely. Very different from anything I have. Dry: This dries into a nice, sweet, white floral. Really pretty and lovely. The rice flower that I love is still there, but not as dominant. This is very work-appropriate. Not really in-your-face floral like some of my favourites are. I look forward to wearing this now that it's spring!

So. I told myself sternly, "no more rose scents for a while!". And didn't order a decant of this. Then reviews started coming in. And a few mentioned "champagne" and "fizzy" (Yes, I'm looking at YOU <3 ) and I had to break my word to myself and hunt down a decant. Wet: For a moment, there is a hint of effervescence - then it goes straight to soap. Straight up white bar soap. I am not even getting the rose. Whatever aquatic "mist" sort of note is in this does not agree with my skin chemistry. and it's ruined this for me. Occasionally, as it's drying, if I huff hard, I get beautiful notes of rose and,,,,,something else. Then back to soap. Darn! Dry: Soap. Sadly this never recovers. This is what I get for breaking my promise to myself.... I will note that this smells divine in the imp - I can imagine how lovely it is on those with different skin chemistry than me.

I didn't order a decant of this initially because I was scared of the leather. Then reviews hinted that there might be some red musk in it, and I had to try it, so I hunted down a decant. Wet: Well, the leather is present, but not doing that chemically thing that it does sometimes (which usually happens instantly) so this may work out ok! I don't know if I'm really getting red musk, but I like what I am smelling! The honey in this is amazing. I find the whole blend subtler than I was imagining. It's really nice so far. Dry: Soft, well-worn leather, hints of honey. I am not getting any red musk. This is nice though! It's only the second leather blend (the other is Whip) that I have been able to wear! I don't need a bottle, but I am glad to have tried it, gives me hope that sometimes I can wear leather!

2016: Not sure how I missed reviewing this, it was an instant blind bottle purchase when it came back this year, since I just discovered last year how much I love aged Snake Oil. Turns out I don't even need to age Womb Furie to love it, it's amazing fresh. The addition of the honey to the Snake Oil is just so damn sexy, but in a different way (to me). Snake Oil is badass sexy, a leather jacket, tight jeans, tall boots, kick your ass first kind of sexy. Womb Furie is high heels and lingerie, red lipstick smeared on wine glasses kind of sexy. YMMV, but I am so glad to have both!
