Sticky Eyeballs and Floppy Entrails has an amazing marshmallow note in the bottle (my skin eats is, unfortunately). I imagine it's very marshmallowy on some folks though!

I also got a tester from my lovely decantress, Azzie <3 Wet: Clean, bright, a little sweet. Masculine for sure, but very pleasant. A bit spicy. It sort of reminds me of a more sophisticated Old Spice. Dry: This is just ok on me, but I think it could be great on a man. It reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on. It's pleasant, warm, clean. A bit sweet, a bit spicy. Hard to describe! But nice.

Got a tester of this from my lovely decantress, Azzie. <3 Wet: Citrus!!! really creamy lime. Like a lime-sicle. Yum. I can detect the hints of rosin and greasepaint as well, which are surprisingly pleasant! Wow, this is so interesting. It's starting to smell like scented plastic though, which makes me sad. Dry: Sadly, on me this dries down to a sort of fake, candyish, fruity plastic smell. Too bad! It had a lot of promise at first, so I think this is just my chemistry ruining it.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info
LizziesLuck replied to kebechet's topic in BPAL FAQs
That seems very strange! I email the Lab often (I am a pain in the butt, constantly asking for combined shipping) and they generally get back to me same or next day. I feel like if they haven't answered, it's because they didn't get your email. My last email to them was Jan 28, and I received a response that day. Maybe it is an email issue? Have you emailed the Lab before and gotten a response? Yes, I have. I got their address right, right? Yep, that's it for sure! And if your email has gone through before, you wouldn't expect it to be some sort of technical difficulty. It may sound a bit unorthodox, but if it's something that requires fairly immediate attention, you could email Puddin at the Post. He is really quick to respond to emails usually as well. You could explain your emails to the Lab have gone unanswered and see if he'll check for you if they were received? Or if you're worried the whole problem is your email you could PM him on the forum, he seems to be around pretty regularly. I can't really think of anything else to try, sorry. hope it gets resolved soon! -
I like all of these notes except the pine, and clove can amp on me to single note proportions sometimes, but I really wanted to try this anyway, cuz carnation! Wet: Clove and pine. Of course. Some sweetness and warmth. The cinnamon comes through as well. Actually this is really nice so far. It is very Christmassy to me. As it settles though, the throw is all carnation. Dry: An interesting mx or carnation, cinnamon and clove. While I do like al of those notes, for whatever reason I'm not really enjoying them together here. There are hints of sandalwood that are also not working for me in this. It's nice, just not for me.

This was ALMOST a blind bottle for me, but I have difficulty with some of the Lab's leather notes, and not knowing which one this is, I ultimately decided on a decant instead. Wet: Creamy almond and a hint of really gnarly patchouli. Sweet, rich. Enjoyable so far, but not something I want to smell like. We'll see what the dry down is like! Dry: This ends up being much too woody for my tastes. It's fairly masculine on me. It's pleasant and warm and rich, just not something I personally want to wear.

The Countess of Morcar's Blue Carbuncle

Wet: Bubblegum. Did not see that coming. Though now I see others got gum from this too. I agree with Soupy Twist, Juicy Fruit is pretty accurate. It's not terrible, but not something I want to wear, at this stage. Dry: Still a lot like Juicy Fruit gum, but with some musk. So, like perfumey gum. It's quite interesting, but not something I would wear. -
Wet: Cypress. Tobacco, strangely. The really thick, chewy, almost caramelly kind. Those two notes are at war on my wrist. Tobacco is winning, I think. Smells more like a rifled cigar case than a jewelry box, but it's nice. Dry: This dried very light. It's woody, a bit sweet. The tobacco has faded a lot, but is still barely detectable. It's pleasant, but not wowing me.
-
Wet: Wow, the lime cream and vetiver blend together beautifully. So interesting. I can't stop huffing my wrist. This is fruity and creamy, but dark and smoky at the same time. Really digging this. Quite light though, I may have to slather to get a good test. Dry: Not at all what I expected! As it dried, it got perfumier and perfumier, and it took me a while to figure out it's the beeswax. I have amped it to high heaven, and it is pretty much beeswax single note on me at this point. Which isn't bad, I love the Lab's beeswax note, but I had also loved that initial combo of lime cream and vetiver, and I'm sad that didn't last.

Wet: A blast of fir, and something like eucalyptus. Then the tobacco comes out, and it's gorgeous. I love the Lab's tobacco note so much! I was actually not expecting to like this. So far, I am finding it fairly masculine, but now that the fir is quickly dying down to be replaced by snow and tobacco, I'm quite enjoying it. Dry: Dry, this is sweet snow and smoke. Reminds me a lot of Mat Night, which I love, but I am not sure this is different enough from it to justify having both in my collection. This is lovely though.

This is a really warm, rich scent. Amber for sure. I'm not getting vanilla. Something cologne-like as well. Maybe some frankincense? I'm having a hard time picking out notes. I like it enough that I'll use up my decant, but i don't think I need a full bottle.

I have no idea why I felt the need to try this. None of these notes are what I usually go for, and I hate salt. But I'm trying to branch out! Be brave and adventurous. So here goes... Wet: Something a bit green, hmmm, really interesting! Immediately intriguing. It almost reminds me of one of the Lab's snow notes, but not quite. I'm liking it much more than I thought I would. Dry: A really nice aquatic. I didn't think I would ever type those words, I usually hate aquatics, but this doesn't turn to dryer sheets on me like they usually do. There's something a touch floral, something very slightly incensey. But mostly a slightly salty, pleasant aquatic on me. It's a little smoky too. Overall, I kind of like it, but can't really see wearing it. I was curious about the carrot seed, but I don't think I can pick it out in this, so I still have no idea what it smells like.

Testing this right out of the mailbox! I blind bottled a few of the Snow Queen scents and have been so thrilled with them! I almost blind bottled this too, but ended up with a decant instead. Still have high hopes for it though! Vanilla and tobacco is a favourite combo on me, just wasn't sure with the other notes. Wet: Not really anything I can identify....so I guess the oudh? It's not very nice on me so far...actually kind of smells like..poo. Quite literally. Ick! Maybe this is what I get for testing right out of the mail. The throw is pretty low, so I am just going to let that settle on my wrist for a bit and come back to it. Blarg. Dry: Well, the poop smell totally went away, thank goodness. But this still doesn't smell like benzoin, vanilla, or tobacco. I've never really been able to pinpoint oudh in anything, but I have to assume that's what I'm smelling here. It's very light, a bit woodsy, a bit smoky. Almost a bit salty too. There's something almost aquatic about it, or maybe ozoney. It's really not at all what I expected, but it's by no means bad (after dry down, it's nasty on me when wet). I can't really see it being something I would wear. I'm glad to have had the chance to try it though!

Sleek, black, dark, and clever: benzoin, honey, cedar, and dark musk. Wet: Cedar, which is briefly really sour, but then the honey warms and it sweetens right up. I take a gamble every time I try someone with cedar, but right now it's kind of nice. Sweet, hints of dark musk. It hasn't turned to pencil shavings yet, so we're off to a good start. Dry: The honey and musk in this are to die for. The cedar just grounds it, it doesn't overwhelm. The benzoin is fairly prominent compared to other blends (on me) and gives it a resinous quality. I can't stop huffing my arm. This isn't really my usual kinda thing, and that may be one of the reasons I like it so much! I need to track down a bottle, I think.

2007 version Wet: Heady florals - the tuberose, I think. It's sweet. There's some green as well. Nice so far. Lighter than I expected, based on the notes. a very pretty, innocent, sweet floral. Dry: Sweet and floral. I think I finally know what tuberose smells like! It's a very heady, sort of tropical smelling sweet floral. It's nice, but a bit too much for me.

Unloving love: benzoin, Indian musk, massoia bark, myrrh, ambrette seed, galbanum, bergamot, and fir. Wet: warm, spicy. Boozey. Interesting! I'm getting the Myrrh and benzoin, but also other notes I am not familiar with. Really different. I'm enjoying it. Dry: Very incensey. Reminds me of something. Hard to describe though. Really interesting, but I don't think it's for me.

Wet: Oh my gosh, so much juniper. Whoa. Very medicinal. Currently smells like Buckley's Cough Syrup Dry: This is truly terrible on me. Chemically and sharp.
-
I love ginger and patchouli, but unfortunately orange blossom hates me, and makes this bitter and unwearable on me.
-
Wet: Yum! Sugary, spicy, fruity musk. This is instantly really appealing. I can pick out the mango, the cassia. the musk. Maybe a hint of lemon peel. It's tart/sweet. I like it a lot. It's different than the other spicy blends I have. I do amp cassia though, so hoping it stays in check as it dries. Dry: I'm undecided about this. I really like the combo of sweet and tart mango with hints of spice. But it's really light on me, and fades really quickly. I'm also not sure if it's something I would actually wear. I think I will need to do a full day test. But I do really enjoy this combo. Beth is brilliant.

Orange is so iffy on me. Generally terrible. Mandarin is for sure a no-go on me. Maybe tangerine will be ok?? I try anything I can anyway, so here goes! Wet: This is STRONG. Woods and oranges. The wood is leaning towards pencil shavings, but the orange hasn't turned to powdered cleaner yet. Dry: I think the amber has made this into something I don't hate! The wood still isn't great on me, but the orange didn't turn into gross chemicals. It's still not my thing. I think it might smell nice on a man, actually.

I had a bottle of this. I really liked it many years ago when I first got it. Unfortunately my skin chemistry changed a lot over the years, and I can no longer wear grapefruit - it goes so bitter on me, it's really unpleasant. I ended up swapping my bottle.
-
Not sure how I forgot to review this one! I loved my imp of it so much - gorgeous chocolaty minty woods. So I purchased a bottle, which is unfortunately almost all woods on me. I'm allowing it to age, since I think my imp was aged, hoping it turns into the chocolate-mint woods I had loved so much in the imp.

I love the sound of this. I haven't tried anything with the Lab's cranberry note before either, so pretty excited to try this. Wet: Cranberry and woods. A bit tangy, a bit sweet. Woody. Kind of sensual, actually. I like it immediately, but I'm also thinking it would smell great on a man. Dry: smoky, woody cranberry. Quite good. But it's the kind of thing I think I would really like on someone else, or maybe in a room scent. It's just not me. I would really love to smell it on a man though.

I have been dying to try this! I have the massage oil from the Post, and I find it has almost no scent, still leaving me wondering what TKO really smells like on me. I received a frimp decant of this in a forum purchase, and I am so grateful for it! Wet: Oiy. What IS that? It's not lavender, and it sure isn't vanilla. This is the scent in the massage oil that I thought was the "rice bran" oil. It smells oily and...weird. It's getting better as it dries though, sweeter and less odd. It goes through an interesting "burnt pancake" phase. Dry: I have no clue. I am not getting the "lavender marshmallows" that everyone else talks about. I'm not getting any lavender, really. Or vanilla. Or anything I can identify. It's a bit sweet, a bit herbal. Fairly pleasant. That's seriously the best I can do. I find this too confusing to want to wear to bed, I would be constantly sniffing myself, trying to figure out what the heck I'm smelling....
