Rainier cherries are my favourite fruit, and all of the other notes in this are huge wins for me. So excited to try this. Wet: The vanilla cream is prominent, with hints of spicy ginger and cherry. This is glorious, and I find myself hoping it won't morph at all from this, because I currently can't stop huffing my arm. Dry: Mmm, this is so good on me. Very light, I think I'll need to slather it. But really good. Vanilla cream, sweet/tart cherry (very different from the Lab's other cherry notes, on me) combined with currant and ginger. The sandalwood adds depth and keeps it from my cloying on me. I will really enjoy wearing this in the summer. I love spicy fruity combos.

I recently acquired a few of the Fragmented Alice blends (huge Alice fan!) and am excited to start testing them. This one is first. Wet: Umm. Not sure? Soapy. Almost piney. Not pleasant. I am going to let this settle on my arm for a while before I sniff again. Dry: This becomes really good on me. Took me a long time to figure out what it reminds me of - Lush's Ginger perfume, without the actual ginger. It's very perfumey, but in a way I really enjoy. I can't pick out any of the notes at all. I really like it. It almost has an effervescent quality - almost, but not quite. I enjoy it a lot and am happy to have it in my collection.

Wet: Sweet orchid, creamy. It almost has a bubblegum like quality at this stage. It's a very candy-like scent right now. Not what I was hoping for or expecting. Dry: This settles into something much more wearable on me. Still very sweet, but I like sweet scents. Creamy, sweet, figgy orchid is the final dry down. Really nice, sweet, innocent. Very girly.

Wet: Tea with sugar. I get a bit of lemon too, but it's not tart at all. It certainly isn't bitter yet. Not particularly complex, either. Just sweet, lemony tea. Somehow BPAL's tea note always does smell lemony to me, even when lemon isn't listed as a note. Dry: Very faint. This has faded almost to nothing, unlike most of the others in the CP line, which I have found to have great wear-length and throw. This dries down to just a faint sweetness on me. There was a brief phase where I could detect some type of berry, but that didn't last, nor did the actual tea note. This one is not going to be for me, I'm afraid, but I did enjoy it while it lasted!

I don't know what either carrot seed or elemi smells like, but the other three notes are all good on me, so I figured this would be a good scent to try and see if I can pinpoint either carrot seed or elemi. Wet: Oh so very much vetiver. It's super smoky, a bit acrid. Almost sour. But not unpleasant (to me). It always reminds me a bit of liquid smoke that I use sometimes in cooking. I know from experience that vetiver usually settles down on me and allows other notes through, so I am going to be patient before declaring this vetiver single note on me. Dry: It pretty much is a vetiver single note on me. It's not bad. I don't hate vetiver or anything. I just don't like it enough to wear a perfume that smells solely of it. If you're a vetiver lover though, I think you pretty much have to try this.

I received a decant of this as a frimp, really excited to get to try it! Wet: Myrrh and musk fighting for dominance. Not a lot of leather, and just hints of saffron. Really nice, a little masculine. Dry: The leather really come out, and it's not one of the Lab's leather notes that I really care for - too masculine on me. This is a nice scent, but it doesn't suite me at all. I am really glad to have gotten to try it!

I received a decant of this as a frimp, and am quite excited to try it! Wet: Dark, gnarly patchouli (black patch, I would guess), and cherry. Interesting combo! Something is giving off an almost tobacco-like vibe. Super interesting. Really dark. Very unique. I am diggin this so far, a lot. The other notes are keeping the cherry from doing that whole cough syrup thing it sometimes does on me. This niiiiice. Dry: Patchouli and sandalwood. I love patchouli, but I generally like it when it's with something sweet - I find that helps lend it some femininity. Unfortunately, once the cherry in this dissipates, although the scent I am left with is quite nice, it's too masculine for my tastes. It's super earthy though, and I think would smell fantastic on a man.

Used as a moisturizer. This is almost all 'pie' on me (sweet crust and something creamy and vanillic) and only a bit of the key lime. It is key lime though, not regular lime. Key lime is much less sharp to me, while retaining it's tartness. I can tell that the key lime note in this is killer, there just isn't enough of it for my tastes. After 10 minutes all the lime has faded away completely. I just received a small tester of this, so I can't speak to how it is in the bath. Glad to have gotten to try it!

The combo of the tea, vanilla and musk have serious potential to go all dryer-sheets on me. I am aware of this, and persevere anyway. Also has the potential to be glorious. I like all of these notes separately - every single listed note. Wet: Wow. This reminds me of something, can't say what. It's perfumey, but in a way that I love. The tea is really strong at first, and gives the impression of having lemon in it. The floral comes through as well, and the amber is there, making it smell like perfume, and not floral tea. Mmmm. Feminine, elegant. Lovely. This doesn't feel "motherly" at all to me. Dry: The musk in this is lovely. Combined with the vanilla flower, it's feminine and pretty. The tea has mostly faded, just getting hints now. The amber and benzoin provide some nice sweetness. I don't get any white rose in this, and I tend to amp rose. This is really lovely. It makes me feel feminine and pretty. I don't find it ghostly or motherly at all, in fact, I feel like I would associate this perfume with a young, beautiful, elegant, classy woman. I will likely need a bottle of this.

I am both excited, and a bit apprehensive in trying this. I still haven't decided how I feel about vetiver (unless it's really dominant in a scent, my skin does the opposite of amping it - it swallows it whole!) Plum is sometimes iffy, I am undecided about oudh. Spectral musk and cashmere patchouli sound amazing though, and I was too curious not to try this! Wet: Mmmmffgg. Wow. Usually anything with patch takes a few moments to settle on me, warm up and get good. This is heaven at first sniff. So dark and unique. I want it to stay just like this. God I am so wowed by the whole CP lineup.....this is so well blended I am having a hard time picking out notes. It's dark, fruity. I literally have it on my face now, because I stuffed my whole face into my arm to sniff it. Dry: Unfortunately this loses a lot of its complexity as it dries down - my skin chemistry does, in fact, eat the vetiver. What I am left with is amazing patchouli and dark fruits. It's truly gorgeous. But I do have two other blends that are patchouli and dark fruits on me - Black Moths and Satan Starting from the Touch of Ithuriel's Spear. I will have to test this against those to see if I need a bottle. I do have to say though, this wet is one of the most amazing things I have smelled. So glad to have tried it!

2013 Violet and I aren't friends. But I have found that violet leaf is not the same as the flower, so I am hopeful this will be ok! Orris can be iffy too....why did I think this would work? I love narcissus and vanilla. 50/50 chances, I guess! Wet: Umm...green? Earthy. Odd. Tough to describe. Soapy. Kind of plastic/rubbery. Ha ha ha ha ha. That's funny, if you think of the name of this. Where's the vanilla? Dry: Well., this just proved me wrong. Either the violet leaf or orris smells like violet (actually likely the orris). It's not giving me a headache, like violet flower does, but I don't care for it either.

Wet: This is a touch sour in the bottle, and for an instant when wet, but once warmed by my skin, that fades. Creamy, sugared, milky fig. Pretty much exactly what I had hoped for and wanted. I don't really get the Myrrh yet, but it may show up more once dry (often does). Dry: Sweet creamy fig. Love it. End of story.

2013 Wet: This is so light on me. It's really hard to smell it at all. It immediately seems to just blend into my skin. I do get hints of amber and sweetness. Bits of musk. When I do catch a whiff, it's really pleasant, just very light. Dry: This eventually gets stronger, and becomes a primarily kush and amber blend. Really quite nice! I will keep the low partial I have, and may try some decants of other years.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
LizziesLuck replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
Hi fellow rose lover! I have a TON of rose in my collection, and I have tried most of the GC's that are rose dominant. Here are some thoughts: Peacock Queen - this is a blood red, voluptuous rose, velvet-petaled, at the height of bloom To me this has been the most perfect pure red rose I have tried Two, Five & Seven - A huge bouquet of squished rose petals: Bulgarian rose, Somalian rose, Turkish rose, Damascus rose, red and white rose, tea rose, wine rose, shrub roses, rose, rose, rose……and just an itty bitty bit of green grass. I think this might be a good GC option for you - it has less stem/sap notes than The Rose. Those are my favourite pure roses, these are my fave rose dominant blends: Delirium - apple, rose, and lemon Whip - black leather and damp red rose. Cicuta - Dry, dusty rose petals, candle smoke, frankincense, and saffron. The Waltz - champagne musk, ambergris accord, white rose, rosewood, and vanilla amber. Autumn - Dry leaves, osmanthus, sandalwood, and rose absolute. Katrina van Tassel - White rose and honeyed cream.(This is LE and may be hard to track down) All Saints - monastic frankincense and myrrh, Damascus rose, Russian gardenia, cassia, and lily of the valley wafting on a chill Autumn wind. (Also LE, but easy to find) Harvest Moon 2013 - Red roses and wild red leaves (again this is LE, but I don't think it's particularly hard to find) Also Fresh and Blooming as a Rose - good pick on that one, it's gorgeous! Good luck finding your own favourite rose scents! A few more GC's you could try: Persephone - Pomegranate and rose. Black Rose - Heavy, dark and floral: a blend of roses, with a touch of amber and musk. London - Venerable Victorian Tea Rose… twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness. Roses, Pearls and Diamonds - Red roses, dazzling crystalline musks, and pearlescent coconut-tinged orris. Harlot - Somalian rose, Moroccan rose and Bulgar rose with a sultry dribble of cinnamon -
Earl Grey tea leaves, a white fougere, jasmine leaf, pearlescent white musk, and vanilla bean. Wet: Lemon tea. I know lemon isn't listed, but this is really lemony on me. It's really nice. Dry: This is a little tiny bit masculine on me, but that vanilla bean note is killer! I may have to have a bottle. I am not sure how much I will actually wear this, but I love it and am not sure I can stand to not have it in my collection. Also, as an aside, super glad jasmine leaf does not smell like the flower, or it would have killed this on me (I amp Jasmine, almost without exception, and I dislike it. So if you're afraid of the jasmine leaf, I don't think you need be!)

This has been on my wishlist to try for some time, and I was frimped a decant, so I am pretty stoked to try this out! In the Imp: The Lab's plum note that I can't wear....uh oh! Wet: Chocolately plummy musk. It's nice for a second, then it gets really bad. This is indeed the plum note that I can't wear. So sad! Plastic rancid, awful. My skin destroys this. I may have to scrub it off. Dryish: The same. This isn't going to miraculously recover on me. So sad! I was really looking forward to this.

Wet, the cardamom was really dominant in this, and I loved that stage. It was cardamom and cherry, really unique and different, just hints of chocolate. Dry, it smells almost exactly like the Phantom Calliope. I guess the cardamom/cherry combo? Don't get me wrong, I love it, as I love the Phantom Calliope, it's just that I already have that. I was hoping for some chocolate or caramel to come through and make this different. I am not sure if I will keep the bottle or not.

Wet, this was all sugary Earl Grey tea, and I loved it. Dry, this is really perfumey. Very strong. overly sweet tea with cucumber. I don't hate it. I may even like it a bit. But it wasn't what I was hoping for. Which is kind of a relief, now I don't have to try to hunt down a full bottle of it!

Really excited to try this! I love cardamom, and am drawn to try anything with that note. I am also expanding my BPAL horizons - the other notes are ones I would have steered clear of previously. Love the label art too. Wet: Sweet, light. Interesting! A floral honey note, hints of dry spicy cardamom, and other notes I am not familiar with but am really enjoying! This feels like late summer. Beautiful so far. It is starting to get a little soapy, not in an awful way, but I am hoping that fades. Dry: This is light, and sort of ineffable. Beautiful. Golden fields, late summer sun. More of a scent experience than anything. This is really special, glad I nabbed a bottle. I will cherish it.

Red musk, carnation, myrrh, and honey. Wet: Really nice, immediately. Spicy carnation, sweetened by honey, a combo I love. Hints of red musk. I am not amping the musk too much yet. I love it, but sometimes it drowns everything else out. This is perfect so far. Hoping it doesn't morph too much as it dries. This gets better every time I sniff my wrist. Sophisticated and sexy. The carnation and musk combo is to die for. Dry: I picked this up on a whim. It hasn't even been on my wishlist. But it might have just jumped into my top ten. For sure my top 20. This is heaven on my skin. Carnation and red musk, sweetened lightly with honey. The Myrrh hasn't shown up, but that's ok, I have tons of blends that are Myrrh heavy. This is gorgeous, and I will slather myself in it this spring when I want to feel sexy and feminine, and still a little girly.

Wet: Oh no. Leather. Not the black kind that I can wear. The kind that smells like disgusting chemicals on my skin. It's drowning out everything else, and it's terrible. Boo! Hope this morphs (like, a lot) as it dries. Yuck! Stupid skin! Dry: This pretty much broke my heart. I LOVE all these notes, but can only wear some of the Lab's various leather notes. This, it seems, is not one of the ones I can wear, and of course I have amped it to the exclusion of all the other lovely notes. It's finally lost the chemically edge, and it's somewhat pleasant now, but not amazing, not worth the disgusting chemical phase I had to go through to get to this. *sigh* I may do a full day test another day, I feel I don't want to give up on this yet. But I have a feeling it will eventually join the swap pile. Sad.

Wet: Mmmm. Blackened vanilla (which has an anise-like vibe on me that I love) tobacco, and cinnamon. Oh ya. That's great so far. I get bits of orange (but not powdered orange cleaning product, like orange usually turns into on me). Quite complex on me, which is unusual, my skin often picks one or two notes to amp, drowning all the rest. Dry: This is a really "dry" sort of dusty scent, but not in a bad way. Vanilla, tobacco, cinnamon and a hint of orange is what I get on dry-down. I like it, but I am not sure I love it.

So. I was so convinced that Pecan Pie would be magical on me that I blind bottled the perfume and got decants of the HG and BO. The perfume was clove single note on me. I was confused, because I have never put cloves, or any spices really, in my pecan pie. Thought I was going nuts. So I got out an actual jar of cloves...yup, that's the note I am amping like crazy in this. That said, all three formats smell strongly of clove straight out of the bottle, so I don't think it's just a chemistry thing. ANYWAY... Pecan Pie BO used as moisturizer - still pretty clove heavy, but I am picking up some of the pie filling as well, and the crust. No actual nuts though. I really like the BO and HG both (had to swap the perfume), but only because I have excepted them for what they are - a yummy foodie clove scent. Nothing about any of the three formats reminds me of pecan pie.

I am a coconut fiend, so I had to have this. I ended up with a frimp of this after I had already purchased a bottle. I tried the frimp, and was a bit disappointed at the strength of the coconut (not as dominant as I wanted, and seemed quite floral) Now sniffing this straight out of the bottle, it is all glorious almost boozey coconut. Heady. Wet: Oh ya. That's coconut alright. Beachy coconut, without going into sunscreen territory. Mmmm. Does still have that floral sort of edge, but not as much as the imp I have. And it really is boozey smelling. Like coconut rum almost. Dry: Not a morpher, boozey, heady coconut. Perfect for summer. I am so happy with this! I will have to test it side by side with that imp to try to figure out why I don't love that imp the way I love this.

I have recently discovered that I think I love ambergris, and I love incense, so I had to try this! Wet: Strangely soapy...that's unexpected. But not bad. It's like the best soap ever. Mmmm. The Frank stands out. And the ambergris. And it's sweet, and it kind of swirls around as I sniff it, morphing even while I am taking a whiff. Oh ya. That's good so far. Hard to pick out the notes. But good! Somehow it smells very clean, I think soapy was the wrong word. It's clean smelling. Dry: Wow. Stunning. The reviewer above me described the frank in this as "almost citrusy" and I have to agree. It's really bright in this, sort of zesty. The ambergris is lovely, and the sweetness of the benzoin is just right. I believe I will wear this in the Spring, when I want something a bit heavier than the florals I favour during that season, but still bright and uplifting. This scent glitters. ETA: Not a hint of soap once dry!
