This is pretty much all butterscotch on me, which is just fine, because the Lab's caramel note is probably my favourite ever. There's hints of rum, which makes this caramel even better. Absolutely edible.

Yellow Metal With Mingled Purple Blushes

This is very mush as described. Amber, faint hints of metal, swirls of dark purple fruits. Really really pretty. It is very perfumey, but in a way that I love. It is, after all, perfume.
  3. Maybe you've already realized this but it was discontinued.

Wet: A little bitter and medicinal at first. The vanilla is sweet underneath. There is something about this that reminds me of laundry. It might be the dreaded dryer-sheet effect, this weird thing vanilla sometimes does on me. Dry: A very clean, sweet vanilla. The chamomile is non-existent on me once dry. I had thought this might make a relaxing bedtime scent for me, but I just don't think I can wear this at all. Too close to dryer sheets on me. Sad Panda.

    The Midnight Carnival

Wet: Wow, this is so interesting! It's briefly really spicy - not sure what that's from. It's quite Myrrh forward on me, but with lots of complexity. Individual notes are hard to pick out. It's deep, dark, resinous. Sweet and murky. Dry: While this is still gorgeous, it has turned mostly to a Myrrh single note on me. It's a beautiful sweet "chewy" Myrrh. My favourite kind. But I was hoping it would keep some of it's complexity.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I've never smelled "The One" so just going off notes here: Belle Epoque - Sweet opium, Lily of the Valley, vanilla, mandarin and red sandalwood Fae - white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss Tamora - Amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean Those are about as close as I can think of.

    The Smell of an Inn

I think the official answer is "no". They are two separate sister companies. They may choose to make exceptions sometimes, but it's not common practice, to my knowledge. That being said, I cannot for the life of me find the thread I am looking for that discusses this, so maybe someone else can.

Have you looked into Black Phoenix Trading Post at all? The Post has a whole line of RPG Room and Linen Sprays here I think that would make it easier to scent the room as well. Just a thought!

    Lady in Speckled Pink Kimono

I love Peony. So far the only really Peony dominant blend I have found is Peony Moon, which I adore. Wet: Much sweeter than Peony Moon, but still Peony forward. Quite pretty, but very very sweet. Almost candy-like in it's sweetness. I do like sweet, so I don't find it off-putting. Dry: Still a very sweet Peony. It's really pretty though. To me, this is a "summer" peony, whereas Peony Moon is a "spring" peony. If that makes any sense...

    Katrina van Tassel

Mmmfffggg. Wet: This is so beautiful. White rose is my absolute favourite floral. And with honeyed cream? /dies I almost get a hint of citrus, which I know is that white rose tricking my nose. It's not sour at all though. It's so very very pretty. It makes me really happy. If it goes soapy, I might cry. Dry: Stays true, no soapiness. It's beautiful. I do wish it had more throw. But I am very happy to own this.

    Olokun

Wet: Laundry and aquatics. Sweet, soapy. Dry:Yep, that's aquatic. No matter how many I try, I just never get into them. Just not my thing, unfortunately.

    Has No Hanna

Wet: Lemony soap! Not terrible or anything. Dry: Still citusy soap. I have no idea if it works or anything, but I honestly just wear BPAL for the fragrance, and this fragrance just doesn't do it for me. But I'm grateful to have gotten to try it!

    Anubis

Wet, this is a pretty white floral, which makes no sense to me. Dry: It is a sweet incense. Nice, but it doesn't wow me. I have lots of other incense scents I like better. It's nice though.

    Obatala

Unfortunately, Obatala is nothing more or less than sour milk on me. The imp I had was quite aged though, so I wouldn't mind trying a Lab fresh one, just to be sure, as I adore coconut!

    Edith Cushing

Wet, this is a gorgeous, almost foodie, gourmand vanilla. It's beautiful, but there is something faintly sour underneath...the ambrette maybe? Barely noticeable and quickly fading. The foodiness quickly fades, and this become a much more perfumey vanilla. It's lovely still. The musk is just peeking out. Wow. This is a real stunner. One of the most perfect vanilla's I have had the pleasure of smelling. I have struggled to find a BPAL vanilla that worked for me, and I think I may finally have it! It's sweet, yet elegant. Charming and a little sophisticated. Instant love.

Sugary or creamy delicate floral scents

I just tried Vasilissa, and I totally second this. I don't actually get jasmine out of it (which is good for me) just a sweet, creamy floral. It's beautiful and feminine. Actually, today I retested Vasilissa, and I was still wearing a little bit of Edith Cushing from earlier, and it occurred to me - they are very similar in feel! Even though they don't share any notes, they are certainly related. Too funny, I'm testing Edith today too! I get what you mean - to me the scents are not actually similar, but they have that same elegant classic feel to them. Both sweet and creamy as well.

    Black Moths

This is a real morpher on me. I almost have a hard time tracking all the changes, it's changing so quickly. It starts off really smoky and woody. The fruit quickly comes out. It's dark and sweet, but the smoky woodiness is still there in the background. It's amazing. I only tested a tiny bit. Not getting a ton of throw, but it's good and strong with my nose to skin. I can't wait to do a full day/full slather test of this. The patchouli is gentle and soft in this, on me. The fruit is the dominant note, the plum and currant have blended together and are indistinguishable from one another. I'm not getting any rose, which is a bit odd, as I tend to amp it. This is beautiful and dark, and does call to mind the rustle of broken wings.

    The Jersey Devil

I really don't wear woody scents (though I do like them as room scents), but this was a frimp so I'm testing it anyway. Wet: Pine tree. Really strong, very true. It never ceases to amaze me how accurate some of the Lab's notes are. The pine does actually calm down fairly quickly, and I get some sweetness. Still very woody though. There's something a bit dark and bitter underneath. Dry: Still too woody for me, but I imagine if you liked woody scent this one would be gorgeous. It's a bit smoky on final drydown, to my nose at least.

    Vasilissa

Wet: Wow, this is lovely. A beautiful creamy sandalwood floral, and so far the jasmine is non-existent (which is just how I like my jasmine) or so well blended I can't pick it out. It's very light and sweet. Gorgeous. Dry: I'm finding it difficult to pick out notes. It's really feminine and pretty though. Sweet, creamy. Hints of sandalwood, and something almost citrusy. I quite like it and can see using it a lot in the spring.

    Daphne Honey

frimp from the Lab. Wet - Soapy floral and very realistic honey - exactly like the kind I put in my coffee. Dry - Essentially the same as wet. The floral is a little spicy, but still soapy.

    Dracul

Got this as a frimp. Once dry it reminds me too much of Old Spice and brings back memories that sicken me, so I had to wash it off.

    Lady Lucille Sharpe

In the bottle: I think it's mostly plum musk I'm smelling. It's deep and dark, and a little sinister. Wet - It's like nothing I've tried before. Fruity, some sweet, dark florals. Musky. Kind of....ineffable. It's dark. Pretty and dangerous. I'm loving it. Dry - The fruitiness recedes a bit. Mostly sweet floral and musk. Feminine and elegant, a little dangerous. Beautiful.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

In my experience, if they send the wrong bottle, they do replace it. They only mean you can't return a scent if you don't like it, not that they won't correct their error. I also find The Lab's customer services responds really quickly, within a few business days. I imagine you'll get a reply quickly.

Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos

I'm resurrecting this thread because I adore Fig, and my newest Figgy favourite is Molly Grue, which hasn't been mentioned much in this thread! Molly Grue is all sweet Fig and nuts on me. Love it!
