I find this to be quite masculine. I don't get any of the rosehips, ivy, or even moss really. I think what I'm mostly getting is the "stone" note, which actually smells quite aquatic to me. I quite like, and think it would smell really great on a man, it's just not something I want to wear. I am really happy to have tried it though.

I really wanted Rose out of this, and I was disappointed that I couldn't smell it at all. That being said, I was totally blown away by how realistically this smells like freshly cut grass. Amazing! I'm not really sure how much I'll use it, maybe occasionally in the summer, but I totally appreciate this scent for what it is.

Love this! Dirt is one of my fave bedtime scents. This is nicely sweetened by the marmalade and there's a hint of florals from the daisies. It reminds me vaguely of Yorick somehow. I sprayed my pillows and pj's and am wearing Yorick to bed tonight and I'm a happy camper. Will be needing more of this!

Wow. This is not what I expected. Straight up fir tree on me, initially. The balsam I guess? This would make such a nice Atmo spray! It smells like Christmas. Like a Christmas tree, and spices. I want my house to smell like this all of December. But I don't want to smell like it.

This is so sweet. I get no coconut or hazelnut (which is what I had hoped for) and not even any musk, just overwhelmingly sweet floral. It almost smell like violets, which nauseate me and cause migraines, so I'm having to scrub it off. I don't know what iris smells like, but if this is it, I may have to add it to the "no" note list. Very disappointing! Coconut is a favourite and I had high hopes.

I am constantly in search of the perfect coconut, so I had to track this down. In the bottle and wet on my skin I get sweet sugary coconut. It's gorgeous. I can't smell the angelica or black pepper to be able to pick them out, but I somewhat "sense" the presence of other notes rounding this out and preventing it from being too sweet on me. If anything, I almost get a faint sense of effervescence, maybe from the black pepper. Just beautiful. Dry, it hasn't morphed at all, still glorious sweet coconut, without being fake. Doesn't smell like sunscreen at all to me. I'm pretty much in love, and have finally found my perfect summer coconut scent.

Oh! This is so good and I'm so very glad I tracked down a bottle! I love the Lab's Apricot. Like, love it. This is perfect Apricot. Just a hint of creamy vanilla, and the tiniest whiff of dusty, spicy cardamom. But mostly just beautiful apricot. Sweet and tangy. I make these Apricot squares, out of fresh apricot that gets cooked down, and I swear this smells just like them (there's cardamom and vanilla in them too) I'm in love. Now I just need to figure out which season I'll wear it in, right now I feel like I could wear it any time.

Ermahgerd. Let me just say - I literally huffed the bottle for a good minute before I even put any on my skin, that's how good it smelled from the second I opened it. At that point I was just PRAYING my skin chemistry wouldn't mess things up. Initially I get lots of coconut (finally!!) with either sweet cream accord or macadamia milk, not real familiar with either. There's something almost caramelly as well. Oh, it's so good. So good! It smells like a coconut cookie on me. It's sweet and foodie and amazing. I want to bathe in it. Dry, this is just as good as wet. Thank you skin chemistry, for letting me have this one! It reminds me of the coconut note in spooky, without the booze or mint or chocolate. I love love love it. If I was the type of person who ever bought backups of anything, I would be getting one of this. I still might. It's THAT GOOD. Wait. No. I mean....it's terrible! You don't want any! Look away! MINE!! Lol. I kid. Seriously though, stay away from my Ivory Vulva.

I love Rose. I will try anything with Rose as a dominant note. I wasn't entirely sure how I would feel about Narcissus, I don't have a lot of experience with it. Initially, I get something quite sharp and bitter from this, and I do think it may be the Narcissus, but I can't be sure. It fades quickly either way, and I'm left with just Rose. It's not as sweet a Rose as I like, and does eventually go a tad soapy on me not so much in the throw, but nose to skin there is for sure some soap happening there. There are already a lot of Rose blends I've tried that I like much better, so this one is not a win for me, and I'll pass it along.
-
I love Rose. I am systematically testing all the Bpal Rose blends, looking for my perfect Rose. Turns out Tea Rose is lovely on me. It's very pure and sweet. I'm not getting anything "blackened" or particularly wicked out of this, though there is an undercurrent of something darker, just faintly detectable, and it's entirely possible I'm imagining it. What I look or in a Rose blend is one that doesn't go powdery or soapy on me. I like sweet Rose rather than a Rose with a lot of green in it. This is a win on all accounts for me. Sweet without being sickly, and not a hint of soap or powder. Lovely.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Having not smelled it before, I did a quick look up, and Google says the main notes are Vanilla/Tonka/Styrax, Almond and Tangerine. That may help you to search on the website for something with similar notes. I took a quick look through my spread sheet and didn't come up with anything exact, but then it's hard to say without having smelled it. This is what I came up with: Tombeur (from the VILF collection) Deadly and seductive: vanilla-infused sandalwood, blood musk, antique patchouli, vetiver, lavender, bitter almond, amber, and a trickle of Snake Oil. It is the sexiest Vanilla blend I have ever sniffed. For sure fits the "dirty, spicy, sweet but not too sweet vanilla" vibe. Ava (from Only Lovers Left Alive) Sheer vanilla musk with tuberose, red mandarin, and the sweet poison of white almond This is discontinued now though and will likely be hard to find, but I have seen the odd bottle floating around in the forum sales. I have never tried it, but reading through reviews might give you an idea of whether it's what you're looking for. That was really all I could come up with, without having smelled it. If you don't have a spreadsheet yet, you may want to download a blank one here courtesy of the lovely izile. I find it's the most helpful thing, not only for keeping track of what you've tried, but also for looking up notes in scents. Thank you so much! It's a start at least, and Tombeur sounds very close to what I'm looking for Plus, I'm a sucker for anything vanilla. Now, I hate to be annoying, but does anyone know a dupe for Penhaligon's Peoneve? It smells like straight roses to me, and according to the internet, rose is also one of the leading notes, along with peony. Just. Anyone know anything that smells like pure, unadulterated (well, maybe a little) roses? I have been on a search for the perfect Rose for forever. I'm still narrowing it down. I like Rose with other notes as well. Peony is one of the least common notes in the General Catalogue, currently it's only in two blends and neither have Rose. Here's a few of my fave Roses, maybe you'll find one you like too. Two, Five and Seven: A huge bouquet of squished rose petals: Bulgarian rose, Somalian rose, Turkish rose, Damascus rose, red and white rose, tea rose, wine rose, shrub roses, rose, rose, rose……and just an itty bitty bit of green grass I haven't tried it yet, but The Rose: red rose petals, fresh sap, and the sharp green scent of stem and leaf I think those are the likeliest to be pure rose. If you want to try Rose with some other notes, these are gorgeous as well Roses, Pearls and Diamonds: Red roses, dazzling crystalline musks, and pearlescent coconut-tinged orris. Black Rose: Heavy, dark and floral: a blend of roses, with a touch of amber and musk. Cicuta: Dry, dusty rose petals, candle smoke, frankincense, and saffron. Harlot Somalian rose, Moroccan rose and Bulgar rose with a sultry dribble of cinnamon Delirium: Contains apple, rose, and lemon There are a ton of blends with Rose. This is just a small sampling of my faves. I would be shocked if you couldn't find a Bpal Rose that you love. ETA: I tested London tonight -gorgeous! Pure rose. (Venerable Victorian Tea Rose… twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness.) -
I love sweet scents as well, almost all of my favourites have an element of sweetness to them. Here's a few of my General Catalogue faves. To me, these are all sweet, but all very different as well (I like variety!) I have weeded out anything with citrus or rose Velvet: gentle sandalwood warmed by cocoa vanilla and a veil of deep myrrh (This is sweet cocoa and vanilla on me, with a hint of sweet Myrrh) Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener: Sassafras, vanilla extract, oak leaf, CO2 butter extract, and onycha. (I get mostly Vanilla from this, with a hint of rich creamy rootbeer. It's unique and I love it) Sudha Segara: Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia (An all-time fave. Sweet creamy ginger) Alice's Evidence: Containing nary a neutron of meaning: rum-quince-cassis with prune and a bit of black ginger. (More than anything this ends up smelling like sweet spicy mulled apple cider on me. Love it!) Queen Alice: Carnation, posies, and white amber with a hint of inky treacle, sandy cider, and wooly wine (A beautiful sweet spicy floral. If you like carnation at all, try it!) Hope you find a few things you love! Every blend is different on every person, so you literally will never know what something is like on you till you try it.

BPTP (Hair Gloss, Atmo, Bath Oil) to BPAL Similarities/Reccs
LizziesLuck replied to Juushika's topic in Recommendations
So I am contemplating ordering Revenant Rhythm everything from the Post...but wondering what perfume oil I would pair it with from the Lab. I just wondered, is anyone who has both seeing similarities between this and Ask The Nearest Hippie? I don't have Banshee Beat, and feel l don't have much chance of getting it either. -
This is everything I wanted Snake Oil to be, when I tried it so many years ago. Alas, Snake Oil was (and continues to be, every time I try it) awful on me. THIS however. THIS is everything. Sex in a bottle in a way I haven't encountered since Red Lantern (the two are nothing alike, the only thing they have in common is being sexy as hell). I want to roll around in this. Naked. I get Vanilla as a strong base, Hints of Patch and Vetiver. The Musk is in there too, and it's super sexy. I'm not getting Amber, which is great, cuz I usually amp it like crazy. This is so well rounded and well blended. The almond is sweet but understated. I can even detect the Snake Oil in it, but with all the other notes it's AMAZING. I want to smell like this all the time. Well, that's not true, I enjoy smelling different every day. But I can see reaching for this a lot, and I will be getting a bottle in my next order come hell or high water.

I had to try this, because CAKE! Sadly, I don't get any of the lab's glorious cake note from this. What I do get is pretty good though! The main note on me is the Lab's effervescent ginger note, the same one from Gnome. It's sweeter than Gnome though, and I do get hints of something really creamy, as well as faint hints of leather. It's nice, but I already have Gnome, and as this is quite similar on me, I can't see needing more.

I did not get anything citrus out of this, as some have. Wet, it smells very woody, cedar I believe. As it dries, I get something a bit like juniper, I think. Dried, it's still mostly woods, which isn't my thing. I had hoped for more rose and leaves. I never do get any rose, but I do get a bit of the soapiness that rose sometimes turns to. Overall, I'm not sure why I thought I might like this, I am just not a "woods" scent kinda girl.

I don't know about BPAL and TAL, but I do know you can ask them to combine BPAL Etsy with a Lab order or BPTP Etsy with a Post order. I would think Ebay would be the same. The Lab's customer service is fantastic, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you emailed them to ask about it.

Immediately there is a note in there that reminds me of Midway, and I get super excited. It's not Midway though. This is nuttier, dryer. I kind of think it's trying to turn to plastic, which I haven't had anything do for a while, and it's making me sad. This fades pretty quickly. It didn't actually turn plastic, thank goodness. Still something about it is reminding me of Midway. I think this needs a full day test.

I'm in love with All Souls, which is incense and sweet cake on me. Nummy. I also just discovered I adore Biliquis, incense (Myrrh) and Honey.
-
Initially I get Myrrh and Honey. Some Almond. Mmm. This is really lovely, I can't wait to do a full day test. Sweet (but not too sweet) honey and Myrrh. I don't get much of the other notes, but I'm ok with that because it's sooo good! ETA: Just got a fresh decant of this to try. The previous one I had was different every time I tried it, which was infuriating - sometimes I loved it, often I hated it. Wet: Tons of rose and apple that I don't remember getting any of in my aged decant. It's actually quite fresh and lovely though. I rarely like apple scents, but I'm digging this. Dry: Really soft, honey with a bit of rose and apple. Interesting how different this is than any of the times I tried that other tester I had. I think I'll age it and see what happens.
-
Initially this is a burst of fruit candy, and then the watermelon comes to the forefront. It smells like watermelon Bubblicious. As it dries, the strawberry comes out a bit, but I'm not getting any of the blackberry I had hoped for. I don't get anything musky or floral. Once fully dry, this essentially smells like fruit salad. Not unpleasant in any way, just not what I want to smell like.

Decant, from a circle. The almond milk is dominant in this immediately after application, but the Sarsaparilla quickly overtakes it. The tobacco smoke just peeks through. The almond milk as well as any sweetness or creaminess fades within minutes, and what's left is something herbal and green, I think the High John the Conqueror Root. I still get faint whiffs of sarsaparilla, but in a herbal way and without the sweetness I usually associate with it. Eventually the herbaceousness fades leaving me with a very faint scent of sarsaparilla. It's nice, but nothing that excites me. I had hoped for a sweeter, creamier, stronger scent. I had also hoped to detect the coconut. This one's not for me. ETA: Retesting this (a different decant) because my tastes and chemistry have changed, and I should love this. Should. Wet: Lots of Sarsaparilla and almond, in equal measures. Getting something herbal - almost mentholated. It's a much darker, deeper scent than I remembered. Dry: There's an odd note in there that I don't really care for. This has very little throw, but a good amount of scent, nose to skin. I still get the sarsaparilla, which I love. But I'm just not loving the other notes. I guess I can really accept that this scent is just not for me. Too bad, it seems like it should work.
-
Decant, from a circle. Wet, this is glorious fresh apple. Green apple, to be specific, without being too tart. As it begins to dry, the rich sweetness of the honey starts to come through, but it's still almost all apple. This dries to a faint, sort of "dusty" apple. I don't get any of the other notes, and the apple really doesn't work on me. I think I may have to face the fact that BPAL apple just doesn't work for me, at least not as the main note in a blend. Makes me sad.

2015 version, from a decant. I tried this right after receiving it. It came from a decant circle, so it's not as "lab fresh". I had hoped that I had given it enough time to settle. Initially it smells mostly of sweet lemon. Not candy sweet, but sweet enough. There's something faintly floral mixed in, but the lemon is dominant for sure. I don't get any vanilla or coconut, which is what I had hoped for most. It's gone completely after half an hour, so I can't say what it would be like dry on me. Rather disappointing, but you can't win 'em all. ETA: I am going to age this and try again.
