Wet: Spicy and sweet. The Myrrh really shines through immediately. Dry: Man I love Myrrh. The vanilla and clove really compliment it. Yum. I really like this and can see wearing it often. Deep, a little spicy, and just sweet enough.

Wet: Very woody - cedar I think Dry: This is sexy. But manly sexy. A sexy pirate might smell like this. It's woody, a bit boozey. There's also a note that smells a bit like sweat. Not like BO or anything, just clean sweat. This is the second blend I've smelled this note in, the other being Caliban. I think it's the "salty sea note". Anyway, not something I would wear, but I do like it.

Wet: Spicy and sweet in a foodie sort of way - not at all what I was expecting from these notes. Dry: This smells quite similar to Alice's Evidence on me. Which I already have and love. Fruity, a bit spicy, a bit floral. Gorgeous.

Wet: As described! A strong, earthy, gingery cider. The cinnamon blooms shortly after. Dry: Spicy and a bit fruity. Most of the apple fades on me, as apple often does. I do like this, but I have other similar blends that I like just as well or better, so I won't be getting more.

Wet: Some combination of notes reads as cocoa very briefly, before the honey note blooms. Dry: This is beautiful. My favourite honey blend I have tried so far. Sandalwood makes everything better. The rose and orange blossom are very understated, but they definitely add to the blend. If this has any kind of staying power I may need a bottle.

Wet: Yep, Roses and Leather Dry: Lots of rose, a little leather. Nice, but I don't know if I like it a well as other rose blends.

Help me find a scent, I have no idea where to start!

I second Velvet, since she likes foodie notes with something else. To me, Eat Me is straight up foodie (Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants), but it's amazing. Maybe Cordelia for something a bit lighter? Lilac, lemon, green tea, wisteria, osmanthus, white cedar, and Chinese musk If she's wanting a jasmine blend, New Orleans is a great choice. I'm not a fan of jasmine, and even I like New Orleans - Sweet honeysuckle and jasmine with a hint of lemon and spice -
Wet: Sweet and creamy, a bit nutty. Dry: Fig. Creamy fig. I amp fig, which is usually fine by me, because I adore it. But this time I wanted coconut!! I have yet to find a blend that a real "tropical coconut" on me. oh well. Anyway, this is all juicy gorgeous fig on me. Beautiful, just not what I had hoped for.

Wet: Sweet spicy carnations with a touch of honey. Dry: Gorgeous. Sweet, creamy, spicy carnations. The milk note doesn't go sour, which is awesome (it sometimes does on me). I adore Alice, but I must admit I love Queen Alice even more.
-
Wet: Tea and sugar with something darker, maybe the orange blossom? Dry: This is glorious. I don't know quite what I'm smelling. I'm not familiar with rockrose, and every other blend I've tried with orange blossom I haven't been able to pick it out. I do smell the tea and sugar cane, a wee glimmer of mint. This is sort of smokey and dark. It's beautiful. I think I need a bottle. I will for sure be keeping and using the decant at the least, but I imagine a bottle is in my future.

Wet: This is all magnolia. Hoping the peach will show up to the party! Dry: Still just so much magnolia. It's a bit frustrating, as there is this gorgeous juicy peach note buried in there, but it's totally overwhelmed by the magnolia, which it turns out I don't really like. *sigh*.

This is the 2015 version Wet: Verbena! With hints of vetivert, but mostly verbena. I am desperately hoping for coconut and fig out of this, two of my fave notes. Dry: This went through a really awesome tropical phase where I did get a lot of coconut. But it's now settled into mainly plum with a bit of fig and musk. I'm undecided about this. I think I need a full slather, all day test.
-
This is the 2015 version Wet: Super fruity, sweet and citrus. Dry: This actually reminds me a lot of Jiggery Pokery, which I just tested as well. Fruity and whimsical and fun. However, this eventually goes a bit sharp, then powdery, then disappears, whereas J.P. stay beautiful and true, so I think I'll be passing on a bottle of Xanthe and getting one of J.P.

Apricot is my jam (no really, it's my favourite jam...) so I am so stoked to try this. Wet: Sweet tart apricot! Not too sweet. So far so good. Dry: Gorgeous. Can't stop huffing my wrist. This is what I wanted Grand Guignol to be, beautiful apricot. I can't pick out any other notes in this, but I know they're there because it doesn't just smell like I smeared apricot jam on my arm, it smells like apricot perfume. This is lovely and will for sure be in my regular summer rotation.

Wet: Very citrus Dry: The citrus fades and it becomes quite floral. very nice actually, the jasmine isn't in-your-face like it usually is on me. I'm not getting a lot of rose, or any single note really, just a bright, pretty floral. I like it, but I don't think I'll need to hunt down a bottle.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)
LizziesLuck replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
Currants can go either way for me, and plum is usually not good, so I'm nervous/excited to try this and see! Wet: Fruity, boozey, smoky. Very strong. Musky. Dry: This is amazing. I can't stop huffing my arm. This is so sexy to me. If it goes powdery later I'm ma cry. Need a bottle. Want to bathe in it. The musk is amazing. I'm not sure what patchouli leaf smells like, but I'm wondering if it's this smoky quality. It's hard to pin down where the fruitiness is coming from, but I think it's pomegranate - a bit tart, a bit sweet. Pure amazing. Unique and complex and endlessly interesting. -
This is a decant, so it didn't just arrive from the lab, it's had a few days to 'settle'. Wet: Very orange, sweet and a little peppery. Dry: This is such an interesting, unique, fun scent! It's whimsical without being childish. I agree with those that have said it will be a great summer scent. Very fruity. I get the orange, but then something else that almost smells like banana, but not quite. It is creamy, with just a touch of pepperiness. I don't get anything that I associate with cotton candy (thank goodness, lol) I think I'll be getting a bottle.

Some of my decants arrived today, and I am soooo excited to start testing and planning an order! I had to do Candy Butcher first after reading all the amazing reviews. Wet: Chocolate, and something dark, earthy and a bit green. Something sinister. Reminds me of Envy with Chocolate instead of Mint. Wet: oh yes. Yes yes. I get what everyone is raving about now. This is amazing. It does remind me of Envy. On me, Envy is some kind of dark green herb which I've never been able to identify, and mint. I smell the same dark note in this along with the dark chocolate. It's not sweet, but that's ok. It's gorgeous. I'll be getting a bottle.

I had the original version of Beaver Moon (2005 I think?) and it was all graham cracker crumb crust on me. I had hoped that 2012 with it's apples would be less one-note and more balanced. Wet, I do get apples and cinnamon along with the graham cracker, but still no actual cheesecake note. Dry, it's pretty much still all graham cracker. I think there's a faint whiff of cinnamon left. *sigh*. I don't think I love it. I dunno if I'll keep it. Maybe Beaver Moons are just not for me....

I'm totally jealous!! My air conditioning has had to be cranked the past few days, it is so hot and humid here. I just received Beaver Moon 2012 as a forum purchase, and I'm hoping it will be good for fall but I haven't tested it yet. The original was all graham cracker, all the time on me, so I am hoping the apple in this will save the day and make it into a fall scent! I also forgot to add Cicuta to my previous list - it's my new "dark fall rose" scent. Cicuta is so beautiful, isn't it? It was one of the very first bottles I ever purchased and I still adore it. I also prefer it during the colder months. I have been saving it ( I only have a partial right now) for fall!! It's gorgeous. I will be getting more, for sure! I am going to have to find a bottle of this. I've been eyeing it since I came back to the forum. I can't believe I missed it! Harvest Moon is my fave lunacy, and this little voice in my head tells me I should hunt down every year... I'm trying really hard to stomp on that voice.... -

Great idea sprout. I'm dying to start wearing my fall scents, but it's been too hot here still. I recently picked up All Souls from 2014, and I can't wait to wear it for fall. Some other faves are Frumious Bandersnatch, Harvest Moons '05 and '06, The Red Queen, and what I am sure will be a new fall fave Café Mille et Une Nuit which I got in a swap not long ago. It screams fall to me, and I've been waiting impatiently to wear it. -
Wet: Very woody. Not like forest wood - like...cabinetry wood..... Dry: This is really interesting. Tropical for sure. But there's also a note (guessing it's the salty sea note) that reads as sweat. I don't really want to smell like a sweaty pirate, and that's kind of what I'm getting from this. Interesting though!

Wet: Floral and sweet and herby Dry: This is gorgeous. Creamy, a bit sweet, floral and lightly herbal green. I may need a bottle of this in the spring.

Ghostly, glowing, sweet and dark: black cherry, patchouli, cassis, cardamom and verbena. The Original: Wet: Pure Cassis. I amp it like crazy at first, so this is to be expected. Cassis is a favourite note so I'm not even mad at it. Dry: Gorgeous Cassis with undertones of lemon verbena. This reminds me of Monster Bait: Underbed (which is also almost purely Cassis on me) and since I only have one bottle of that and wish I had more, I do believe I will need a bottle of this as well. I do hope that the new version of this is the same. Notes listed are the same so I figure there's a good chance! ETA: I purchased a bottle of 2015 I get a lot more of the black cherry out of this, with the same spice. It's beautiful, but very different from the original, to me. It may change with age. I actually love it more.
