This is quite lovely. Wet, it's all cinnamon, all the time. It dries down to a nice spicy fruity blend. On me, it's quite similar to Alice's Evidence, only I like AE better, so I won't get a bottle of this. It's lovely though!

Wet - my skin immediately amps the spice, as it always does (which is awesome, I love spice) Dry - Not terrible. Very sweet. The jasmine isn't super awful like it often is on me. I wish more spice lingered, but there's just enough to keep it from being too floral. I shall keep the imp.

Wet - this smells like grape. Medicinal grape - like cough syrup. Makes no sense. Dry - burnt honey. This is a huge fail on my skin.

I purchased this before realizing it's considered a manly scent. It is NOT manly on me. It is all amber, all the time, with just a wee splash of vanilla. It's sickly sweet. I like sweet, but this is headache inducing on me.

I don't love Drink Me as much as Eat Me, by far. But it's growing on me. Drink Me is mostly custard on me, with a hint of cherry. Sometimes it stay true, other times it goes a bit powdery, which I can only attribute to wonky chemistry,

I love fig and patchouli, but there's a weird note in this that spoils it for me. I like The Grave-Pig much better as far as fig and patchouli go.
-
This is a lighter vanilla on me. Sweet, but not too sweet. I think it will be nice in the summer.

Wet, I hate this. I can't even describe what it smells like, but it's bad. I waited it out and let it dry, and I'm so glad I did. It's beautiful! The cocoa stays true (not powdery) and the other notes give it beautiful depth. I think I will wear this in the winter a lot.

Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener
LizziesLuck replied to flyingpizza's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
I had high hopes for this, and it did not disappoint! Though it smells nothing like I thought it would. Wet, it's mostly Sassafras and something herbal and medicinal. Dry, it's the loveliest vanilla with hints of creamy rootbeer. It's buttery and amazing. I need more! -
This is lovely. I wanted to try it because I love the combo of Cinnamon and Patchouli (as in Lush's Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds) While it doesn't really smell like Blue Skies to me, it's still gorgeous. The cinnamon is prominent on me, but softened beautifully by the sandalwood and patchouli and sweetened by the amber. It's actual a little sexy, I think. I may needs a bottle.

I hate to say it, but this is truly awful on me. It's pretty much straight up dragon's blood on me, which never works with my chemistry, I amp it like crazy and smell horrible. I've now washed my hand where I tested it twice, and I still reek. I should have read the description more carefully....ooof.

I had such high hopes! It has fig, rose, vanilla, coffee bean, all things that I love! But all I get is Jasmine. I hate to say it, but Jasmine might be a death note for me.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's much more floral than I expected. Eventually I get some fruit. I think I need to wear again before I decide anything. Certainly not awful.

Wet: OMG just like ginger ale! How on earth have they made something that's not carbonated smell like it is? Amazing. As it's drying, the fizziness is still there, but some of the sweetness from the fruit is coming out. Why have I never tried this before!? The throw on this is amazing, but nose right to skin I do get a faint hint of that fake plasticy strawberry. As long as I don't stick my nose right on it though I freakin adore it and want a bottle or 4. If this lasts on me I will for sure be buying more. Nomnomnom. ETA: I was just complaining that I find it hard to find summer scents - I think this will be a new fave! Perfect for summer.
-
I love this! Unfortunately it's completely gone in minutes. This is melon candy on me, with a hint of champagne. I really do love it and am sad that there's no point in me wearing it.

In the Imp: Tea with a hint of....lemon? Wet: Very light and clean. Tea, a bit of sweetness. It's quite lovely. Dry: I think this would be lovely in the summer. Light and clean and sweet. This is the first tea based scent I've really liked.

So wet this is like....what the heck is that??? I had to go back and look at the notes because I couldn't pick out anything and couldn't remember why I had wanted to try it. Ick. Maybe it's the poppy combined with the sassafras that smells so bad when wet. Whatever it is, it's weird.... Dry it's not really weird at all. I can totally pick out the sassafras (which I love) and the Myrrh (which I have a love/hate relationship with). Not getting any nutmeg, and just a whiff of poppy. I don't hate it and need to wash it off, but I don't feel the need to ever wear it again, either.

I think I kind of love this, but I'm not entirely sure. Wet it's very much incense. As it dries I do get some sweet coconut and lovely dry sandalwood as well. It's lovely. My skin kind of ate it though, and it was gone quickly. Need a full slather before I decide if I want a bottle or not.

Wet this is all patchouli, but patchouli always amps at first on me. Once dry this is sweet patchouli. Very nice, but not a lot of coconut. I was really hoping for coconut....*sigh*

First Time BPAL-er looking for recs!
LizziesLuck replied to fullforcegalesburg's topic in Recommendations
I second whoever said Elegba - yummy boozey coconut! I also agree that you should try even scents that you think might have your death notes in them, especially if you like all the other notes. I thought I hated rose until I tried BPAL rose. Turns out I love rose... Anyway, best of luck, I hope you find scents that are amazing on you!- 24 replies

Wet this is beautiful deep rich cocoa. Which immediately gets weird as it dries and ends up smelling really woody somehow. After a few minutes though, the cocoa and vanilla come through again, and it's lovely. Doesn't last very long on me, unfortunately, but I'm debating getting a bottle anyway.
-
On me this is a nice herbal lemon at first, but quickly bitters and takes on a very sharp tone...not pleasant. Too bad.

I love this, especially in spring. Lush berries with a hint of something green. Makes me happy.
-
Wet, this is lovely - lemony and somehow spicy. But it immediately dries to powder. Sweet soapy powder. Not for me!

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!
LizziesLuck replied to Ella LaRose's topic in Recommendations
Fun thread! I would love everyone's rec's. I collected BPAL heavily from 2005-2007 or so, then haven't at all since. I just got back into it and have missed so much! My top 5: 1. Red Lantern (I will be ordering a bottle of Elegba based on some of it's similarities) 2. Freak Show 3. Midway 4. Monster Bait: Closet 5. Peony Moon I would love some GC rec's (or even less hard to find LE rec's) that might remind me of some of these! Thanks in advance!
