About Me
Tom here. I am non-binary/genderqueer and will accept any/all pronouns. That means you can't misgender me -- I'm invincible!
I work for the Lab! I started exploring BPAL in 2006, which was the beginning of a long, winding path which eventually led me to working for the Lab full time, in 2016.
My background was in writing, publishing, and publicity, as well as producing nightlife shows in NYC. At first I just helped the Lab at conventions, then began helping out with publicity for major collections (such as Crimson Peak), and then started managing the social media accounts. As a full-time employee my role became Marketing and Relationships Manager, working in areas like licensing, partnerships, and announcements to the BPAL community. I have also helped out as a creative designer, contributing in terms of visual media to promote the Lab and also working (in "I am by no means a perfumer" ways) with Beth on certain scent collections.
So that's who I am, and what I'm doing here. For any who did not know, and wished to... now you do!
I have historically put myself out there as someone you can ask about things if you'd prefer not to bother Beth or Ted, two of the world's busiest humans. I don't always know the answer! (And I do not have access to the shipping/orders info.) But you are welcome to ask. I'm usually the one checking the Instagram DMs and other inboxes. I'm used to being asked!
I'm not a Forum mod. Aside from announcements I mainly just post occasional reviews. I tend to do this for scents I love, or ones I know folks are very curious about. Describing fragrance is a unique and enjoyable challenge! But these views ARE coming from someone who works here, and might not serve the same purpose as customer reviews.
So that's it! I just never realized how blank my profile page looks, and figured I should share some basic details.
