I agree very much with the above review, but I do detect a warm bit of ginger... Cranberries, rule tho. It reminds me of SweetTarts candy. Pretty, but if you don't embrace cranberry sweetness this may not be for you.

In the imp: A green menthol, leafy smell. Green as the oil itself. Wet on the skin: A slight earthy/mossy scent but the menthol/pine notes rule and the whole thing is washed with a green medicinal smell. Interesting for sure... Drying down: The whole scent is backing down and behaving a lot better. A light floral peeks thru. I can't put my finger on exactly what type of floral...seems a bit dry but with the humidity of the forest I'm not sure. Dry: Actually kind of nice. A sweetness. Complex greens and a tad of flowers on the edge of a mossy patch...a little resinous pine (but not overwhelmingly so). But there is a strange, fleeting bite of something medicinal, green toxic juices flowing just underneath the pretty flower. Not sure if I like it...yet I was drawn to keep sniffing at it! And the scent lasted quite some time. Overall: Not for everybody, and not easy to wear. This is a dangerous flower. It lures you in with sweetness and the little sharp tang reminds you of that it's toxic. I couldn't keep away from it. I kept sniffing at it and liking it more each time. I'm not sure of I'm ready for a bigger bottle, but I will use the imp. I dunno, it's dangerous and I'm getting hooked on it.

My favorite BPAL scent is Nosferatu, but it isn't exactly a "beautiful" scent. It's just very mood evocative and complex. Desire, however, is my favorite beautiful scent that I've tried, by far. In the imp: There's fruit and a touch of musk but it's a peppery/ginger that jumps at me and tingles my nose. Interesting. Wet on the skin: The pepper/ginger takes a big step back and this sweet luscious apple blooms. It's not a particulary foody-type apple to me because there is a touch of musk, a touch of neroli, well-behaved bergamot, and oh, vanilllla! But apple rules. Drying down: The scent is complex. I don't detect the rose and the pepper/ginger has faded to just giving body to the scent as a whole. Gorgeous. Not a bit of powder for me, just an achingly beautiful smell. Dry and maturing thru the day: Fortunately, Desire has good staying power on me. It was noticeable without attacking people. I got compliments (which is nice even if you don't particularly judge a scent by others' reactions). Overall: Beautiful! And it seems, to me, to be the scent of desire of love rather than a desire of lust. I have been thinking of ways to get up $$ to buy a big bottle from the first time this touched my skin. I'm desiring this to the point of cussing BPAL for even creating such a potion.

Just like one of the previous reviewers, I first though "hair salon". Not in a bad way. I like hair salons. In the imp: Slightly minty green herbal. Wet on the skin: I'm getting the shampoo/soap and salon thing. Here, I could almost grasp a hint of that pungent perm deactivator solution somewhere. Drying down: It becomes softer, powdery. Quite clean. Dry on the skin about 90 minutes later: This is a refreshing scent. Soft green herbal. Clean. Soapish but not bad soap. Overall: It's uplifting without being obtrusive at all. Seems like a happy scent. Now, I'm going to see if it works for me on any other levels =^..^=

I received this in an imp lot I bought. It is masterfully put together and would be a lovely scent except for the fact that apricot smell turns my stomach. Ever since I got sick on apricot pie as a child I cannot even smell the fruit... I had to just recap it Oh, I wish I could like this! (Looks like a swap is in the future.)

I'm not big on girly florals but this is rather nice. It has just enough sandalwood and unspoken mystery to pull it off. In the imp: Lilac and gardenia incredibly sweet. Wet on the skin: I don't mind sweetness but this is almost sickeningly so. Drying down: It's coming together nicely, I smell other florals coming through but the lilac is in the forefront, and the sweetness is becoming bearable. Dry: The sandalwood comes up and the florals find a nice place just beyond it. Softer, powdery in a nice way. Victorian lilac with a warm wood edge. Dryish. Like a lovely scented letter. I'm surprised I like this so much. It was light yet had staying power. I'm going to use this imp up, and if it continues to make me keep smelling my wrists like it's been doing, I just may look into a big bottle. Strange, I never woulda thunk it

Though skin chemistry often makes a scent one's own, amping and/or subdueing some notes, or changing the scent alltogether (sometimes for the good or bad)...Nosferatu stayed perfectly true to the catalogue description. In the imp: Tangy green herbs and soil. Wet on the skin: Sweet rich soil with a slightly overripe greeness. Drying down: A red wine blooms. Burgundy. Dry and mature about two hours later: A perfect balance of ripe green herb, soil moist with a swirl of wine. The wine seems to weave within the stable soil/green notes. Nothing overpowers the other. Just perfect. Calming, forgotten in time but living still with the pulse of rich wine ever so slightly metallic. Fours hours later I can catch the smell of it on my person now and then after applying it on the pulse of my neck. It fades slowly but stays balanced while it does. Never went powder on me. Overall: I felt at home in it like my own skin. I must have a big bottle! I'm thrilled with this

This is lovely! In the imp: Sweet pine. Wet on the skin: Fuller bodied version of the above. Drying down: It deepens to a resinous sap. I don't eactly smell berries, but there is a tang somewhere. An hour-plus later: This forest is making me very happy. Decent throw and it stayed true. Overall: To my nose, this isn't a complicated scent. It's evergreen and dark golden sap, sweet and biting at the same time. Simply a beautiful living tree. There just might be a big bottle in the future,

My first review *nervous* In the imp: Lovely rich soil, a distant floral and a moist undertone. I love this. Wet on the skin: Much the same. Drying down: I'm losing a lot of the rich soil note and the floral is amplified. It has a dry dusty lavendar scent and there is a slight sourness. Not bad at all. Dry after about two hours: A nice throw, but I smell no soil at all. It's gone totally floral...definately a blend but I smell lavendar in the forefront. Very dry and almost cologne-y. Perhaps this is the "dry soil" in the catalogue description versus the "moist soil" I detected in the imp. It's not bad at all, I like it, but I liked it better wet. I'm not ready for a big bottle yet but I will definately use the imp and see how it works with my skin chemistry on another day.
