    Flickering Lantern

Not so long ago, candles were the only source of light in the dark night. This beautiful scent, brings to mind these magical places with their flickering light of paper lanterns, bringing warmth and sweetness into a lover's dark, and secret room. Simple yet refined, as soon as it hits the skin i'm getting the lab's transformative beeswax note: sweet and creamy mixed with the bewitching purple rose. It brings to mind the traditional Japanese paper lantern, burning with soft, diffused light; ever altering the ambience the night has to offer while creating a seductive space. The wax and the rose are the main notes on my skin, along with tiny wiffs of spicy tobacco and silver smoke in the background. Overall, it's cozy and wearable -- warm, nostalgic and intoxicating. I already have a bottle of The Light of Men's Lives, but Flickering Lantern is a mysterious, feminine version, with it's delicate and creamy purple note that I'm guessing is created with a drop of either violet or lavendar.

La Prostitution et la Folie Dominent le Monde

~Prostitution and Madness Dominate the World~ I am MAD for this scent. JASMINE JASMINE and more nose-in-a-dewy blossom JASMINE when you first put it on, but the candy sugar mountain riding behind makes it okay. These blossoms are literally swimming in the sweet vanilla creaminess. This is NOT a gourmand scent, but it makes me CRAVE Jasmine Ice CREAM! Jasmine White Cake, a big bowl of Jasmine Frosting. Just gimme all the JASMINE YES!!! This is JASMINE STEKK I'm telling you. It also reminds me of last year's The Bride with a Jasmine focus instead of the Magnolia. It's so hypnotic and lovely with its perfect creaminess, I could see wearing this on the hottest summer night and still feeling elegant in the sultry bayou. I think this is a fragrance even Jasmine HATERS could wear. Stunning and one of my favorites of the lupers so far and as Jasmine blends go, a DREAM COME TRUE.

Diligent Instruction for the Bridal Night

Strawberry BLAST at the beginning. The mallow blossom almost gives this strawberry a "fizzy" quality. After dry down, i'm also getting hit with the dreaded plastic note, but hopefully with a bit of aging, this will fade. I can see strawberry lovers hoarding this one, but if you're looking for Stekk, this isn't it. Mallow blossom is quite different than marshmallow root on me. I'm jealous of anyone getting creamy marshmallow

    Importune Me No More

THIS is the Luper I was most excited about and I'm not certain exactly why. It has TWO great big notes in it that can go terribly wrong on me but I wanted to take a risk because it looked like an interesting, complex blend. I've been wanting to explore Jasmine more lately, the cool beauty of the night. The small blossoms look like stars painted on the ceilings of the tombs of the pharaohs. Just after application, the jasmine is high-pitched front-and-center. Fortunately, after a few minutes it settles into the rose and becomes a lovely, complex yet soothing note. The rose and carnation swim together and create something almost cherry on me, while the resinous amber and ancient, earthy patch provide an overall regal quality. Waiting for the drydown is worth it. This is certainly a deep, dark and glowing oriental, with a resinous purr and ruby red glow

Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry

This is in the same vein as my beloved Lady Tall and White, except the sugary vanilla sandalwood is replaced with blue musk and a kiss of mint. I'm also reminded of Mat Night, and Snow White. Fresh, pretty and maybe just slightly fruity, like the musk is coming from black plums or grapes. The musk remains in the background, but is very lovely and never goes bitter or too soapy on me. This one takes me on a snowy, nighttime sleight ride, all bundled up in warm blankets while rushing through the soft, evergreen forest and midnight blue snow.

    Funerary Papyri

Like a Priestess richly adorned. Oh yeah, I love this one. A clean, watery reed pool start that dried down to creamy, vanilla smoke incense. I'm not so familiar with the scent of papyrus, but its quite fresh and magical. It's like standing in a ancient, crumbling temple, surrounded by a green croaking pool, while meditating in the burning spicy, vanilla myrrh resin. Hypnotic, sweet and I think will be perfect for springtime.

    Temple of the Loas

Cover my eyes with orchids and push me into the ocean. I'm not sure what came over me on this one, but it was practically shouting to me while I was deciding. It is tremendously lovely, I find it almost soothing yet inspiring. It makes me want to create beautiful things, put on flowing robes, drape myself in lush, damp blossoms and frolic in a rainstorm with all the Loas. What a spectacular dance it will be.

    Lilith and Sekhmet

Sugary, fruity, round, and sacred, the amber gives this a resinous basenote that warms it up and gives it glowing sweetness. I can see wearing this a bunch of places because it comes across as pommie, cherry with a splash of grape without any booziness. Initially, I was concerned about the blood note which can go metallic and make me feel like i'm chewing tin foil, but here the blood is delectable and rich. So glad I took a chance because Sekhmet is a treasure.

    A Breathless Chuckle

This was a blind bottle purchase on the first evening of the Post Yule release. I'm ALWAYS tempted by anything with marshmallow, so I took a risk with this one, but foodie scents can be iffy. Butterscotch caramel toffee brittle in the bottle, this is more gourmand than I can wear. After wearing it for a bit, the butterscotch ROARS and i'm wishing for some marshmallow stat to overtake the butter, which I tend to seriously amp on my own. I had my husband take a whiff 30 minutes in, and all he could say was butterscotch, butterscotch, bluttersplof. I'M A BIG, SLOPPY BUTTERSCOTCH PANCAKE BLARG An hour in, i'm finally getting some sugary, marshmallow creaminess. It's just too long of a ride to get to the good part for me. Keeping this for now because it does smell delicious, and my gourmands are seriously lacking, but I don't think I'll be reaching for it too often.

    Bestla

Swirly smoky, wooded rose notes at the front, along with a raunchy, indolic musk i'm trying to identify. It kinda smells like booty but I'm thinking it's the oud. Fresh, sweet, and just a hint of your lover's bum. This is what I would imagine a black rose in the forest to smell like, glistening and rare. I can't really detect the fig or the amber except for a creamy note and a touch of wet spice that accentuates the gothic quality of this FANCY queen. After dry down, it is sultry, dark heaven. I know it's rose, but the way that the other notes blend with the floral, it becomes grounded, smooth and oh so sexy. I haven't tried it out yet, but i'm seriously guessing that Bestla is a man-killer. It smells like a long afternoon boff in the sack while you're wearing lacy red tartan, snogging red wine and rolling over thick, black red rose petals. Toss me on those plaid satin sheets my McQueen UPDATE: Honestly, this has aged beautifully. Perhaps the oud was "fresh", but after a several weeks of aging, I barely get any indolic whiffs at the start. I love this one!!!!

    Fake News

The Bluebird with the triple dagger calls to me in a bewitching way. A cry of truth to look through the veil. GORGEOUS green patchouli, clean leaning toward slightly minty. Fresh, feminine and upscale, it's perfectly balanced/blended with the white tobacco. Hot DAMN this is sweet, sexy and let me say exquisite, it settles into an exotic and intoxicating cloud. It's so wearable and makes me feel like a BOMBSHELL. I can't really detect the "slashes of gold" except to say it smells like a million buck$$$ I'm picking up a backup bottle

    Pediophobia

First of all, this has crazy, strong throw. I can smell it outside the bottle from a distance I've had this several weeks and it's finally settling down. The blend is very distinct, with a recognizable, almost "signature" scent. If I smelled it on someone else, I would immediately recognize the scent. I can understand the reference to Ava here, in a "expensive boutique fragrance" sort of way. Straight-up, first bottle sniff reminds me of (strangely) Skin-So-Soft? and I'm getting that just after application, but it fades fast. My mother and aunt bought tons of it back when I was playing with dolls, and it takes me back to the days I chopped off barbie's hair and drew a beard on her. After a few minutes, the creamy, sugary cognac vanilla blossoms and GAH! it goes all beautiful. The tobacco note warms the whole thing up and gives it a blonde caramel sweetness that is cozy and sexy at the same time. I'm so glad I waited on this one and let it age a bit. I can only imagine what this will be like in a few more months. Yes, you need this

The Forest in Winter at Sunset

I'm a fan of amber scents, so I jumped on this one. It is a resinous, sappy amber with a tiny bit of smokiness and moss covered wooded pine in the background. Unfortunately, this also had a weird, bitter aquatic note on me. Must have been the moss note? It was a bit like flower vase water mixed with very thin amber after dry down. I tried aging my bottle a bit, along with warming and rolling but never got enough amber to make it wearable. t has a very woodsy, bewitching quality to it that I can see being beautiful on many people, just not me.

    It Sifts from Leaden Sieves

This is a lush, TIKI beach scattered with gleaming driftwood and heavy, hanging, fuzzy coconuts. I'm getting smoky, incense note along with teenytiny bit of sweetness from the patchouli. This is truly a unique blend. Velvety smooth with a perfect balance of gleaming sandalwood, a whisper of dry coconut meat and a perfect patch base. Rich and moonlight dreamy, the sandalwood is the lead singer, as the other notes weave in and out like a symphony. I'm not certain this has enough sweetness in it to suit me, but very wearable for anyone who prefers very dry scents.

    The Magpie

Oh yah~ fun and flirty, this is all full of blackcurrant candy fruitiness and creaminess from the sandalwood and vanilla snow note. This is definitely a mood lifter, and kinda snuggly, like hugging a great big, fluffy stuffy. As it dries down, it does become more velvety and smooth from the sandalwood note warming up with an elegant, blackcurrent woody vanilla finish. I can almost see the magical bubbles~ I slather this one!!

    In the Wild North

The Fir, Spruce and Pine are dancing in a snow filled plastic BERRY field. I gotta say, unless that snow is in a fruity meadow, the notes really aren't jiving with the scent. I'm getting a strong, menthol, medicinal smell at first with a weird sweetness underneath. After application, the menthol is still very strong, along with that artificial berry note. This smells like opening a stored box of pine scented Christmas tree limbs, where you accidentally left your hot pink, scented sex toy. This doesn't work on me and thank the stars I only went for a sample

    Night Snow at Kambara

This is pretty, but something goes sour and bitter on me, almost soapy. I like the fresh, clean quality of it, but i'm not loving the floral notes. It has an asian undertone to it, but there's just not enough creaminess to make it wearable for me. Sad Panda~

    Desert Places

What a surprise! I have to say the name on this one isn't a good fit to me. I'm not getting anything like the frozen, dry desert I was expecting. It's very pleasant, but more of an aquatic overall. Fresh, delicate orris is the highlight here, and it doesn't disappoint in that respect, but goodness, it's coming across as "dewy" rather than "snowy" to my nose. I'm also reminded of the herbal shampoo from my childhood and think this just might be AMAZING on a manbeast~

    Road to Versailles at Louveciennes

Decant sniff is sweet, fruity and creany taffy chewy i'm pretty sure is the woody, orange Petitgrain. Something about this reminds me of the Luper, Florette's purple snails or Adante con Fantasia, but I love this much more. Stunning! Magnifique!!! After application, it dries down to a spicy, fresh and feminine fragrance. Very proper, creamy yet darkly victorian. More Please If you're into corsets, stockings, garters and white leather paddles YOU NEED THIS! Something about it makes me want to put on those thigh high boots I can't walk in, and sit in a swing. Don't tell Santa!
  21. The 2016 Yules have been emotional for me. Coming just after the Anniversary collection, they have symbolized sacred offerings to winter. Talismans of hope and truth to empower us in the enveloping darkness. I'm a huge fan of the lab/post carnation and couldn't pass this one up. RED! This oil is Christmas red, it makes me wish for a clear bottle. Upon application, carnation is the main player here, along with something sweet and sparkling I'm guessing is the freesia that is giving it a creamy vanilla sweetness. As it dries down, the floral notes deepen and become a musk of GORGEOUS glowing carnation. It could be the most magnificent carnation in my collection with excellent throw, and I can detect is even after 6 hours of wear. TRANSCENDENT

    Peppermint Cream Cupcake

Minty, boozy almost peppermint schnapps in the bottle. The mint isn't a sharp note, but rather delicate and sugared straight out the bottle. I'm still picking up yummy, creamy Kahlúa type note that I'm guessing is the RED part and very much like german chocolate or milky cocoa. On the skin, the mint is soft and lovely, with the cake note amping up after a minute or two but without any of the buttery, cheesy part. HOLYSNOWBALLS this is GORGEOUS! I'm gonna douse myself in this bottle and call it Christmas! This is even better than MB Tokyo Stomp, Cake Smash, Sprinkle Cake for me. If you love sweet, sparkling frosting with a touch of sweet mint and a smash of sweet cake, YOU NEED THIS. So wearable, cozy, perfect, dizzy, THUD. I'm gonna need a couple backups (sigh), where's my list to Santa?

    A Little More Tea

In June, Lilith was cast as the Mad Hatter in her theater schools production of Alice in Wonderland. Typecast much? Lilith says that the Mad Hatter should smell like tea (EARL GREY!) with honey and cream and lots and lots of cookies. A MAD TEA PARTY orgy with teetering cakes, frosting and sparkling currents. More sugary frosting than cream, and the fruits are syrupy with sweetness and jam. So rich and decadent, it moves through different stages from lemony tea, to cakes and cookies with a fruity finish. I can still smell it on me several hours after application and I dream of warm cookies spread with red sticky fruits. The White Rabbit smiles as he pours more tea and I must loosen my belt

    Raspberry Sufganiyot

The Bitches Red Unicorn galloped its' way into a magical cupcake shop and drop rolled around in fluffy, sugary white cakes. Yep, the fruity note reminds me of the red raspberry notes of Bitches Love Unicorns along with the lab's epic cake note. It's beautifully done and simply scrumptious. For me, raspberry can sometimes have a savory tone, almost like ketchup or chutney for meats. At the very start, when the oil is wet, it has a bit of a condiment smell so i'm hoping the cake note amps as the oil ages. Really fun and festive overall, this Sufganiyot little sister is truly smashing!

    Winter: My Secret

Crystalline white myrrh, i'm getting something similar to OLLA Streets at first, but without any of the grit or oil. These streets are frozen and the wind is blowing the snow powder across the landscape. The musky labdanum grinds down the myrrh but I am left searching for the bourbon vanilla. Was it left out? This is one of those oils that needs to age a bit. I'm hoping the vanilla makes an appearance after the myrrh has a chance to swirl a bit longer with the musk.
