    Boticelli’s Unicorn

Wet on skin, I get a wicked leather rose. This leather isn't your typical hide, it is that buttery, soft pearlized leather that you want to stroke, touch and make a catsuit with right MEOW~ I'm getting a refined mix of amber, rose and pearled leather. I have tried SO MANY rose and leather blends at this point, and have passed them on. Not with this one. Botticelli's Unicorn will become the sole bottle of rose in my collection. I fits my chemistry perfectly, but I suspect because of the amber lime application on the rose, it morphs into almost a glowing, musky blossom tucked into the unicorn's white leather saddle. Just the tiniest bit of unicorn sweat is coming through the saddle, creating magic as I hold on tight to the animal's horn.

    Bestiaire du Moyen Âge

The bottle sniff for Bestiaire du Moyen Âge is beautiful, like plunging my head into an apple barrel Water splashing all around, shirt wet, damp green grass staining knees, teeth reaching to grab the best apple. I wished for the fragrance to stay in this magical place, dewy, fresh and filled with promise. But alas, after a few minutes it turned on me like a unicorn with sharp teeth and talons. The dry-down filled me with contempt. Apple pie plug ins! My mother filled her home with these Glade oil warmed apple plugins that chugged out an artificial apple fragrance with a spoonful of ivory soap. It was an exact match for me, so this apple eating unicorn will be trotting off to greener pastures

    Lamia

Well, I'm so in love with Lamia it's ridiculous. She's a very wearable goth tropical that takes me to the islands on a black, coconut beach. I've had my bottle for some time now and I reach for it often. She's the perfect combination of tropical and musks. I'm booting this one into my top ten for now. Pure dark bloody hearted vampire passion with a hula skirt spin.

    Planchette

Planchette is the second Bloodmilk scent i've been able to pickup. Wow guys, I am blown away by the quality and beauty of these fragrances. This one is a gorgeous, smoky resin with a delicate sweetness that I LOVE!!!! It's like being inside of an upscale bohemian headshop, classy but not pretentious. VERY wearable, unique and instantly recognizable, the frankincense is dry and sweet alongside an exquisite wood note that makes me want to sing with joy. The saffron threads through in a surprising way, I would call this a MIDNIGHT saffron, glowing in the darkness while the ouija board tells me "YES YES YES". I hope they continue to offer these first three fragrances, so that everyone gets to experience them. They are definite works of art and illuminate on the skin alongside the Bloodmilk talismans. EPIC ☆

    Bitches Love Unicorns

IN THE BOTTLE: You know when you spill the rainbow-candy-bag into your mouth? All the fruity flavors flood together into something even more amazing! Bottle sniff smells similar to this "taste the rainbow" explosion. WET: Fizzy lemon, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry suicide melting into a glittering, sugar mountain. DRY: Gorgeous, bright fruit. I'm getting predominately a raspberry note in the end with just a wee bit of fizzle in it. After 3 hours, I swear it turns into a soft, perfect raspberry cotton candy. Nom-nom! It never ventures into heavy, syrupy territory and remains bright and sparkling all the way through, without going bitter or powdery. I'm certain this will be incredible for laying with vanilla and coconut creams. NOTES: This is straight up happiness in a bottle yall. I'm telling you, if you've had a bad day, reach for this unicorn bitch and breathe. She will take you on a journey back in time, to when you were a kid, still pretending. When you weren't sure what was real, and what was actually a dream. Wrap your arms around this unicorn's neck and hold on tight because the ride across the rainbow can be bliss.

    St. Clare

St. Clare has a tiny, brown velvet unicorn on it's label, and I just want to hold it. To brush the soft fur and touch behind fawn-like ears. "This is what it sounds like when unicorns mount" I've been calling this one hornycorn the last few days. Wearing St. Clare calls to mind the darkest clubhouse, with black crystal chandeliers and ebony marble countertops. Everyone is smoking clove-laced cigarettes, while throwing heavy, sultry looks at one another before slinking to the dance floor for a sweaty, slow dance.

    De Vos’ Unicorn

Blind Bottle Purchase from the lab. IN THE BOTTLE: Fresh, sugared floral with a very slight creaminess. Wet, FAT PINK. WET: Sweet, opening giant blossom shaking with dew under fat, sparkling clouds. DRY: Pure, unadulterated Peony blossoms, with very slight mallow. The apricot is slight and the lavender is wafting through with an "herbal" note. NOTES: I do not get any gourmand from this. If you're looking for a gourmand mallow like Stekk, you are going to be disappointed. The mallow here is rooty and earthy. This Unicorn is a pure and crystalline fresh, pink floral. And it is the first time I have experienced any fragrance that duplicates what it's like to sink your face into an amazing Peony blossom and BREATHE. De Vos' is so beautiful, magical~tossing stars left and right. Whinny Whinny Slay!!!!!

    Crucifixion

Blind Bottle Purchase from the lab. IN THE BOTTLE: The days of Wine and Roses! I know it's not in the notes, but WINE! WET: Still getting something very dark with a wine note mingling with the resins and slight clove. I'm also getting the orris background that always comes across as "purple" to me. DRY: My nose is getting tricked! Carnations! This blend with the combo of dried rose and clove goes straight up spicy red carnation to me. I LOVE carnation so this is a good thing. I'm also still catching a lot of the resins, which give this a "dark" churchy vibe. Very soft blend with low throw. NOTES: I get the comparisons to OLLA Eve, but Crux is a much softer, floral version. I really like this blend, but I wish it was somehow STRONGER with more spice~.It dries down so soft and delicate that it's difficult to detect.

    Champagne Lace

Blind Bottle Purchase from Dark Delicacies. They don't mess around - my bottle arrived soon after ordering. IN THE BOTTLE: Oh lordy~how did this get on my lips? Bleck! Ok, anyways ginger ale. Fizzy, sweet, bubbly cream. WET: Ginger, lemon and golden resin are top notes while wet on my skin. The champagne is there, but much softer than I'm used to. DRY: Gorgeous, expensive smelling resins whirling around with the softest, vanilla lace. I'm not detecting any of the champagne. It has smoothed down into a sweet, lemony almost fresh cotton scent. NOTES: I'm a fan of the lab's champagne note and the addition of it with the lace adds a slight effervescence at the beginning. There's nothing else like in in my collection-SCORE! I find this to be very wearable, elegant and wispy~like the smoothest amber resin burning in a glowing, golden room filled with stacks of gleaming cotton sheets. I have worn this countless times this summer, it definitely calms me and makes me feel illuminated. 9.5

    Seven Word Story: Sloth

Blind Bottle Purchase from the lab because who doesn't love a sloth eating a banana. IN THE BOTTLE: BANANA! WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BANANA CANDY SPANK SQUEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay i'm putting this on to see what happens. WET: i'm still getting the banana, but it's a juicy, chewy banana candy with lots of sugar taffy goodness. Wait! Is that banana really a big ole' cigar? DRY: This one's a wild and crazy ride. It completely morphs fairly quickly. The banana taffy smell is almost gone, while the dark cocoa, boozy smoke and tobacco blend into a darkened swirl of sticky clouds. NOTES: Astonishing! Somehow, someway the seven-word-story "happens" here: can't commit to finishing a whole banana~ The elusive fruit disappears into a 'poof' BEFORE the finish, leaving behind a sultry, velvety kiss. It blows my mind in many ways, and is unforgettable. My only criticism is the ravishing Sleeping Beauty sloth used on the website isn't on the bottle.

    Mother Ghost

Blind Bottle Purchase IN THE BOTTLE: Very soft, lemony tea. WET: Oh-Pretty! Crisp tea with swirling white blossoms, lemon and vanilla. DRY: The resin amps up and I'm getting a sugared, vanilla amber dancing with crystalline orchids and a very, slight rose if any. NOTES: This is so divine, i'm crying--it feels like it was made for me. I was sad that I missed Edith, but now I don't care. Mother Ghost has floated into my top 10 and makes me feel like i'm in love~and that I am loved from beyond. RATING: 10+

    Boomslang

2016 Version~Blind Bottle Purchase from the Lab based on my love of Snake Oil. IN THE BOTTLE: Yep-Snake oil, vanilla and dark cocoa. WET: Dark oil! Beloved Snake mixed with cocoa and horchata!! DRY: All the sexy goodness of Snake Oil mixed with delicious horchata and cocoa. NOTES: This is definitely Snake Oil made foodie. Not that it's completely edible, but the rice milk, cinnamon and cocoa give this a velvety smoothness that happens when your have the perfect cuppa warm, hot cocoa with a giant dollap of sweetened rice milk cream. Boomslang is epic RATING: 10

    Serotine Bat

Blind bottle purchase from the forum. I'm thinking about collecting more bats and I usually LOVE vanilla. IN THE BOTTLE: Vanilla wine...? I'm also detecting a floral but I can't tell what it is. WET: From a distance, peachy bubblegum! Creamy vanilla tones mixed with florals that are a teeny bit plastic. This bat's blowing bubbles! DRY: Amber deliciousness blossoming from a warm saffron sweetness. The resin works it's magic and balances out any freesia sharpness. This is soft and velvety peach fur. NOTES: Anything with peach is difficult for me and comes off too sweet. I wish it had just a bit more cream. Going to try it again this summer and see if things improve.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)

Blind bottle purchase from the forum. Looking for a sexy red musk. IN THE BOTTLE: Sharp, slightly medicinal and forest HERBS!!!! I'm worried. WET: Medicinal, evergreen SMASH! I'm not getting any sweetness, only strong, sappy woods. What's that in the background? Pomegranate? DRY: ahhhhhh Huffing!!! Glowing, vanilla warmth mixed with plump, burgundy-black fruits so ripe, they're splitting. NOTES: Treasure!!! I have not experienced the original Mme Moriarty, so I can't compare, but this is AMAZING! Complex, multi-layered and purring with lust. I feel completely elegant while I'm wearing this, even though I'm in pajamas. I would say this is as good as my $$$ bottle of Back to Black--rich, glistening and transformative. Sparkling with pomegranate pearls, sweating black plums, wispy vanilla smoke and earthy patchouli, I'm rolling on the satin sheets and may stay in bed until dinner. RATING: 9

    The Gift

Blind bottle purchase from the forum. Looking for the perfect amber. IN THE BOTTLE: Slight wood with a boozy back. WET: Pink oil! Whoa-there's the mahogany and what I can detect as Japanese wood. The honey, frank and amber aren't stepping up yet. DRY: Rich and sexy. The resins and honey blossom after dry down becoming a glowing, throbbing ember of gold. NOTES: This is one of those oils that becomes part of the skin. Sinking down and becoming another level of musk that accentuates and enhances the body's natural scent. Maybe i'm stretching it a bit, but this could quite possibly be the lab's greatest woody amber accomplishment. There is no sourness, bitterness or sharpness to The Gift. The honey notes never go overly sweet while heating up the wood as the "frothing' moves slowly and deeply toward ecstasy. RATING: 10+

    Poor Monkey

Blind bottle purchase from the Dirty South Lunacy Event-wanting more figs. IN THE BOTTLE: Bourbon vanilla mingles with rich, creamy black figs. WET: Evergreen (Fir) sweetness tops and I can also detect the lotus and milky figs. The sandalwood peeks out to balance out the notes. YUM! DRY: Sharp, fuchsia florals blossom from the steam after 30-40 minutes, but the woody resin notes balance things out and bookend the gorgeous, sugary fig mash in the middle. NOTES: Complex and delicious, this reminds me of a fancy tart filling. All dark, creamy and smooth melting warm across my skin. This poor monkey has climbed into my lap and is feeding me diamond studded fruit. I will treasure my bottle. RATING: 9

    Adante con Fantasia

Blind bottle purchase from the Dirty South Lunacy Event IN THE BOTTLE: Sweet, tangy purple cream. WET: Bright, squirting lime and light honey crushed into earthy lilac blossoms. The fougère tampers the lilac in a lovely way-I can detect a sexy lavender-vanilla background that adds opulence and depth. DRY: Glowing honey amps with a perfect mixture of lime zest and lilac dust. NOTES: If you find a fairy, she will smell like Adante. It is fantasy based and magical. I was expecting it to be sweeter from the honey, but the fougère adds a grounded, man-sex note that turns-me-on and keeps it from going powdery. I get whiffs of purple notes, sticky honey and crushed forest. I see the unicorn. RATING: 9

    Stekkjarstaur

Blind bottle purchase from the forum. Seeking a pretty marshmallow. IN THE BOTTLE: Sweet, white sugary, vanilla cream. WET: Subtle, perfect marshmallow comes out mixed with with lots of creamy vanilla. DRY: Candied pure marshmallow goodness with a fluffy vanilla back. NOTES: Yep-this is perfect stuff destined for unicorn status. Diamond holy sacred goddess mother of all things buried under Tehama mountain after you've touched the Chintamani Stone and wished for perfect marshmallow. It doesn't go bitter or plastic note like the Easter Marshmallow SN did on me. It blooms and swells into wonderful marshmallow bag goodness you can smash your blissful nose deep into and curl your toes. RATING: 10+

    Blossoming Vulva

Blind Bottle Purchase from the Lab--looking for a delicious lotus. IN THE BOTTLE: Creamy, sweet golden vanilla with a spicy, indigo flower. WET: Gorgeous buttery floral swimming in spiced vanilla tea. I can see violet blue sugary ribbons laced through ivory cream. DRY: Sexy, sweet lotus with a subtle warm, amber woody finish. Spicy, creamy floral goodness. NOTES: I also have Volcano in Springtime, and it gives me such pleasure to put these to bottles together on my little shelf. They seem like a couple to me. I would never, ever layer them, but they definitely seem like lovers. This is dazzling and complex. I am obsessed with Blossoming Vulva, but have a long and intense love for creamy, floral scents and this vulva opens all the way open to show the divine!!!! Sink your face all the way down into this flower-it casts a spell overall who are within its' vapor. RATING: 9.8

    Zarita, The Doll Girl (2016)

Decant from FB group. I have not tried the previous version. IN THE IMP: Buttery, Sweet syrup, caramelized sugar WET: Absolutely NOT what I was expecting. Where's the sugary carnation? This is all buttered grains. DRY: Bread. Yeasty overall but with an icky sweetness I don't like. NOTES: This didn't work on me. I'm not fond of sweet buttery oat smelling scents. I didn't find ANY carnation, iris, orange blossom or berry notes at all. It was all yeast floating in flat cream. Sad.

    Asp Viper (2016)

Decant from FB group. I have not tried the previous version. IN THE IMP: Tangy, juicy, a little reminiscent of the perfect cherry limeade. WET: Almond and sugared lime/cherry (I guess this is the King Mandarin, but my nose is reading this as maraschino syrup and this point) Refreshing! I can detect a faint trace of the Snake Oil and it's vanilla hiss. DRY: Cascading, sugary white flowers with silvery, almond albino vipers twisting around in a sweet lime waterfall. Every one in a while I get a little airy wiff of perfect beauty. I'm not sure what it is, but it's coming from the Viper!!!!! NOTES: This luxurious snake takes me to the tropics: I've got a perfect tan, the ocean is crystal blue and my drink is filled with flowers. This is such a transformative blend. The Snake Oil gives it body and keeps the foodie notes from going overboard. I'm getting a bottle of this because it's perfect for summertime, evening events and I can only imagine it improving with age. RATING: 9.0

    Fleurette’s Purple Snails

Blind Bottle Purchase from the Forum. Looking for a beautiful violet to wear. IN THE BOTTLE: Sharp herbal floral with a caramelized brown sugar sweetness that grounds it. I'm guessing this is the white sandalwood. WET: Strong orris root front (mashed up iris) It's reminding me of caramel chews from halloween-if they were gentle lavender....The violet is there, and it's lovely and not too sweet. DRY: Soft, sweetly spicy purple flowers. I'm thinking of the darkest purple violets and waxy lavender iris in a dance with a pollen float. NOTES: I've been hesitant to go with a violet selection before. My grandmother wore a violet perfume which was quite common in the '30s-'40s so it seems a bit old fashioned to me. I have tried a few other violet BPAL oils in the past and wasn't attracted. In the case of Purple Snails, the Iris and violet have been caramelized with the earthy sandalwood, creating a gorgeous, contemporary perfume. Maybe there is a more beautiful "light purple" fragrance in the BPAL collection that I haven't discovered yet, but I adore this one. It's an earthy floral, with good throw and feminine mystic. I'm so glad to have this amethyst treasure. RATING: 8.5

    Hidden Pearls

Blind Bottle Purchase from the Forum. Curious about the Orris, Iris Root and Pear Stem. IN THE BOTTLE: Fruity, almost a wet lavender. It's reminiscent of violets or other purple flowers. Very tangy. WET: Strong, sharp floral with a creamy coconut base. This might not suit me.... DRY: I'm still looking for the pear. It's a "pear stem" and i'm not sure what pear wood smells like. The coconut has turned a bit from the tart, tanginess of the florals and I'm not enjoying what's happened with the florals. I'm not liking the little whiffs I'm getting..... NOTES: I can imagine a lot of people will love Hidden Pearls. The iris is pretty and the coconut thread makes it gourmand in a way. It reminds me of an asian drink with orchids, and sweetness. Pinks and Lavenders and Lapis Blue. Sadly, it's not for me. I'm going to keep my bottle and see how it changes with time.

    The Contrast

Blind Bottle Purchase from the Lab on a quest for a crystalline frankincense option. IN THE BOTTLE: Oh dear-I don't have anything like this! Pure, bright and shining resinous frankincense with a kind of "amber" fog. WET: Softly sweet frankincense, along with a spiciness (benzoin) and slight vanilla backnote. DRY: Uh....I love this. It's so pretty and spicysoft. I know there's no carnation in it, but I'm getting a similar "spice" note. I'm smashing my face into a bunch of dewy carnations. I can also detect a controlled sweetness that takes the beauty of this into the stratosphere. Gorgeous! NOTES: I am awe struck by the Luper update this year. The Contrast has become a treasure for me. The balance between the frank, benzoin and vanilla is perfect and transforms a simple compound into a sparkling diamond. The Contrast is one of my favorites from this year and I'm so glad I have a bottle. RATING: 9.5

    Yggdrasil

Frimp from the Lab IN THE BOTTLE: Wintergreen-reminds me of the top note in Love's Philosophy without the creamy bottom. This is going to be cold. WET: Strong Wintergreen! I can detect some other notes going on beneath it, but the mint is taking up all the space. Uh, oh. I'm coughing. DRY: Wood. Finally, I'm seeing the trees here. The wood notes are much more apparent but it's turning Pine which is death note, glue taste for me. NOTES: After dry down, the Wintergreen has disappeared and the leftover smell reminds me of a pickle pine scratch-and-sniff in a Highlights magazine. This one is an absolute no-go for me.
