Harvest Moon is the first limited edition I've gotten to buy. This one did quite a morph on me. First five seconds - candy corn (yum!) Next 5 minutes - corn bread (OMGWTFBBQ?) Next 15 minutes - spicy, cidery, woodsmoke, definitely fall (I'm in HEAVEN) Next 30 minutes - soft florals (huh?), kind of generic perfume smell Next 30 minutes - pencil shavings (double huh?) Final phase - soft florals, very pretty, like Hamadryad on me. I really liked the candy corn phase even though it was totally unexpected. The spicy, cidery, woodsmoke phase was EXACTLY what I was expecting from this, wish it had lasted longer. I can see why people are tempted to slather this one.

Dove's Heart is another oil I bought for a friend who is going through some tough times. When I first put it on, it reminded me a lot of the green in La Petit Mort, without the sweetness that that blend has. As it dried down, other very soft florals emerged and I do get a real sense of peace from it. I know my friend will love this.

I just got Horn of Plenty in an order today, I bought it for a friend who needs the help but I had to try it, right Ooh, it's going to be hard to let this one go, I'll have to get it again soon. Plus, I need some money mojo too! Yes, just like fairywingmaker said, I get creamy almond and vanilla. About 15 minutes into the drydown, I detected some faint spices but now they are gone and I also am getting a faint berry scent. I'll be sure to post back if either my friend or I get some plenty ETA: This is quite strong, amazing for an almond/vanilla, those usually vaporize pretty quickly on me.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
ChupaChup replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
Have you considered Venus? That one to me smells like the whole rose, petals, leaves, stems and all. It's very green with a little bit of pink, not sure if that's the kind of "darkness" you are after. Anyway, I don't usually do well with roses but that one is spectacular. -
Witch's Dagger, just wanted to say that was a great explanation and I have a feeling you are right. Thanks

Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy
ChupaChup replied to voila's topic in Recommendations
Welcome to the forum! You might want to try O, it's honey, vanilla and amber, very sweet. Sugar Skull sounds really good, it's a limited edition so you can only order it while it lasts. Snow White was also a limited edition, but it's gone, I think that was last winter, sorry But if you are REALLY lucky, someone may let you have in in a swap. -
I really dislike the orifice reducers, I emailed Nella to ask her to leave them out of the 5mls I have on order. They either dispense way too much oil or nothing comes out and I end up shaking the bottle. Then of course, a whole bunch comes out all over the place. When you take the reducers out, you end up wasting a whole bunch of oils. So it will be nice to get the bottles from the lab without them. I just got some caps with glass wands here, they fit the lab's 5mls perfectly.

I was so sure I was going to love Wings of Azrael, just from the description, I love all the notes in it. And it smelled so gorgeous in the vial. I put it on and I was in heaven...for about 30 seconds. This was before I knew what violets did on me. They go so sharp and sour, they absolutely ruined the other notes in Wings and I had to wash it off after half an hour. I love the smell of violets, on other people or in those little pastilles, but not on me

From the reviews, I thought Baron Samedi would be something I would love on myself and if not on me, on my boyfriend. The almonds and clove really appealed to me and I didn't really know what bay rum would smell like. Well, turns out I love the almond and cloves in it, but find the bay rum to be very masculine on me. I kept sniffing it, hoping the bay rum would go away but alas, as others have said, this is one strong, long-lasting oil. It was also too "different" for my boyfriend so I ended up swapping it. I think a lot of guys would really like it, though.

I love the soft, white flowers and gentle herbs in Shroud, it's such a pretty perfume. Unfortunately, my skin does not play well with sandalwood, it tends to suck all the sweetness out of a blend and Shroud goes very dry and woody on me. I can see how some compare it to Veil, at least the dryness, but on me Shroud is a lot nicer.

Haunted is a really lovely perfume. It reminds me so much of Shalimar, but it's a little lighter, less spicy and possibly more lemony. But it's not a strong lemon, not in your face Pledge, it's just a whisper of it. I think the name is perfect, there is something Haunting about this oil, I keep going back to it every week just so I can remember how it smells. I can see why it's a favorite.

I get all the notes from Gluttony except the chocolate! This is such a rich scent, it's strong and lasts all day and night. To me, it smells like freshly made caramel popcorn, yet there is something sexy and smoky underneath it all. It was one of the first 5ml I ordered, along with Voodoo, as I never want to be without it. Unfortunately, my boyfriend just hates it and so does my best friend, so I swapped a little of it away in imps because I'm afraid I won't be able to use up the bottle before it goes bad. This is one BPAL oil that evokes strong opinions and I love it

I didn't get hold of Snake Oil until I think my third order from the lab. I was so curious to see what everyone was raving about and I was sure I would love it straight off. Well, I didn't, I didn't get it at all! I couldn't smell any vanilla and barely any spices, and it didn't seem as strong as others were saying. But I perservered and kept wearing it and what do you know, now it's vanilla and spices and a whole bunch of other things . I think there is so much going on with this one that my nose was confused and just shut down at first. Now I absolutely adore it and never want to be without it. I would recommend to people who try Snake Oil and think they don't like it to give it several trys. Oh, and the same thing happened with my boyfriend, he hated it on me at first and now he loves it too

Like some of the other Vixen lovers have said above, Ravenous just feels like something is missing. That seems a little unfair, I think if I had tried Ravenous before Vixen, I proably would have been pretty impressed with it. On me, it's just a little too orange-y, like Orangina, I don't get much of the vanilla or patchouli until much later in the drydown. And I really miss that kick of ginger you get from Vixen. But if ginger isn't your thing and orange is, give this a try

This made me laugh but I think you are right! It's funny, as much as I love O, I think I have only worn it once by itself. It is so fabulous layered with other scents, I tend to save it for that. To me, it's just pure honey, vanilla and amber, nothing else. Fantastic

Titiana was a scent I really wanted to like, probably because I like the character so much. It smells gorgeous in the vial and I'm sure I would love it on someone else. But most fruits don't seem to work on my skin and I think there is just too much fruit in this blend for me, what with the grape, peach and pear notes. I love the florals in this, though.

Wow, Mercury is the hottest BPAL oil I have ever tried. Perfect for the planet closest to the sun. It's all cinnamon for about half an hour, then some softer, subtler notes of ylang ylang and myrrh emerge. At this point, the scent begins to waft around me, it's really lovely. But I did have the burning problem others have experienced, I got large, raised red welts wherever Mercury was applied and they remained for an hour after I washed it off. I haven't had that problem with other BPAL oils containing cinnamon so either there is a lot more in this one or there's something else in the blend that does this.

I'm glad I got to try Aries because I was so curious about it, but in the end I didn't really care for it. It really is a blast of ginger and the ginger is made even hotter by the black pepper. It smells just like the juice from a fresh slice of ginger, not a drop of sweetness in this blend. About two hours into the drydown the frankincense began to emerge and believe it or not, THAT actually smelled sweet compared to the first two hours of Aries. I'm more into the sweeter foody blends but if you crave pure spiciness, give Aries a try

Add me to the list of people that are absolutely in love with Venus! I haven't had luck with too many straight florals and I really don't think Venus is even in that class, it's so green. Yes, there is a little pink, it's rose and rose hardly ever works on me but this one does. I got the chance to smell some rose concrete once, and was told it's the whole plant, leaves, stems and all and that's what the rose in Venus smells like to me. It could also be rose absolute but I've never gotten to smell that so I don't know. Anyway, it's GORGEOUS and drop dead sexy. I've just recently tried Le Petit Mort and the green in that smells like the green in Venus, but Venus is a much stronger oil.

I have to agree with those who said that Haitian Lover is a version of Voodoo for men. Since I am crazy about Voodoo, I had to try this one. But on me, it was just a tad too masculine, it might have more vetiver than Voodoo? I tried it on my boyfriend but he didn't leave it on long enough for me to get a good idea about how it works with a man's chemistry

The Star is my favorite of all the Tarot scents I have tried so far. Initially, I got a strong hit of mint, really a blast, and I thought it might be too much. But the mint faded to allow the lime and coconut to emerge. The mint never went away completely, it just added a tiny bit of coolness to the other scents as it blended right in. This is a very bright yet creamy scent, just divine. It felt very cool on my skin so it's a perfect summer scent but I think it would also be cheering in the winter. I passed it along to a friend whom I thought would love it but I hope to get another imp of it again someday

I found Arcana to be a really beautiful and soothing scent. It reminded me a little bit of Ouija, which went really hamster cage on me because of the sandalwood, but thankfully Arcana doesn't do that. I really like the combination of the citrus and herbal notes, especially the rosemary. I think the sandalwood still makes it a little too dry for me, otherwise it would be a keeper.

I also found Shattered a little too sweet for me. Initially, there was a strong burst of grapefruit which was nice and tart, but then it turned into candy on my skin. Interestingly, I tried it on a friend and on her skin, there was more mintiness that was very pretty. She ended up keeping it and loves it.

I found Storm to be a very pretty, light, lemony kind of scent. I was expecting some aquatic notes (that usually don't work well for me) just from the name but I really didn't detect any. It's not particularly long-lasting, two hours at best. A friend of mine fell in love with it so I no longer own my little imp, but I did enjoy it.

I have to agree with the other people who said this reminds them of Gucci Rush. That is one gorgeous perfume and I think Xiuhtecuhtli is just a tad better. There is something fresher about it, and it's a little more creamy and spicy. I'm really amazed at how complex it is, I can count at least ten notes before my nose gets confused so I'm sure there are many more. It's just beautiful, with good waft for about 4 hours.
