This is a dusty book in a dusty book store. I would like to smell the musk now pliz. I do not want to smell pencil shavings. It's starting to look like light woods do not work for me, unlike the delicious dark woods in other things... As it dries down, the musk is starting to warm up and sweeten the woods a little bit, and the dustyness of the paper scent is backing off, so this is good. However, it's not a bottle scent, that's for sure. I like it enough to keep the imp, but it's not really a me scent.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I would have thought if it was floating, but this appears to be a solid sediment, so it's kind of odd. Might try stirring it up with a toothpick and see what happens... Thanks!
-
My lab imp of Schrodinger's Cat has this bizarre sediment in the bottom of the imp now. I've been trying to warm it in my hand and roll it, but it's sitting there persistently. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it one of the heavier oils, perhaps the chocolate?

I like the wet stage, with the herbal/pine scent -- it's very green and very dark. Unfortunately, then it starts to drydown into something like vetiver. And pencil shavings. Green vetiver pencil shavings... I'll have to try it in my hair or something to see if the herbal scent stays...

Mad Girl described this as "Smut goes to a leather bar" -- oh gods yes. It is a hot, smouldering, SEXY scent. I get a lot of the red musk and patchouli, and the rest of the notes are peeking out from behind those two. It's naughty and sexy and I can't believe I haven't worn this before. I have to buy a bottle, SOON. Until then, I'm going to be tempted to use up my decant far too quickly...

This starts out as a dusky sweet musk with some resin, but very quickly it seems to morph into a dusty scent that loses most of the sweetness. It's a pity, because it does seem like it would be wonderful for a little while. I wonder if it would do better in a locket or in my hair... I think I'll stick with Smut ETA: After a while, the sweetness comes back, but it's still kind of dusty. It tickles my nose. I'll still stick with Smut, but this isn't as disappointing as I thought it was.

This was a lab frimp -- probably wouldn't have ordered it myself despite my liking for BDSM things. I'm a bit leary of most flowery smells, although I really do love the scent of roses... So, of course, because I was trying to be cautious I ended up almost spilling the imp all over myself -- not quite drenched in it, but certainly enough oil on my wrists to run down instead of sit where I put it. Oops! Wet -- Rose rose rose -- a very lovely rose, but still, that's all I get Drydown -- the leather is starting to come out, and it's a very nice counterpoint to the rose. It's warm and comfortable and soft. I have a set of black and red wrist and ankle cuffs in this lovely butter soft leather. That's what this scent makes me think of. I keep getting whiffs of rose, then the leather curls in around it and makes it such a warm and comforting (to me) scent. Verdict: not a bottle, because I do prefer other types of scents, but I'm not trading the imp

Another lab frimp, although unlike Pele this is one I would have bought myself, eventually. In the imp it's a lovely sharp, cold pine -- intense and powerful and stimulating On my skin it sweetens up quickly - might be the berries, but it's very Juniper-y, too. Reminds me of the huge Juniper we had at the corner of the house that would scrape against the windows and freak me out at night It's going through a bit of a room freshener phase, but if I had room fresheners that actually smelled like this, I would use them! All in all, I usually like my pine scents a little more spicy/woody/smokey than this, but this is a lovely scent anyway. I don't think I'd get a bottle, but I see more imps in my future

I got this as a lab frimp -- would never have bought it looking at the description. But, I test all the scents I've never smelled before, so I tried it. VERY floral. Overwhelmingly flowery -- I kind of feel like I'm being buried alive under tropical flowers. Not something I will ever be buying for myself. Help me, the flowers are coming to eat me... Later: I actually had to wash that off -- first BPAL I've ever had to do that with. Off to the swaps with the Flowers of DOOOOOM.

I got a decant from a friend who couldn't wear this because it gives her migraines. I'm really glad to say it doesn't do the same to me! I get a chilly pine scent, with warm sweetness behind it (the fruits, obviously) -- it smells like some kind of warm family Christmas celebration. The chilly scent is when the guests arrive and the wind blows in the open door. Then the door closes, and the heat of the room and all the people there makes the Christmas tree scent come out, while someone is in the kitchen making mulled wine and baked apples. It's a wonderful, happy scent to me.

Got this as a frimp in my most recent order -- I don't think I would have ordered it otherwise because Dragons Blood and I don't seem to get along all that well... In the imp: WHOA CHERRY COUGH SYRUP! Wet: the clove starts to take over, and it's still cherry and clove, but it's nowhere near as sweet or overpowering now -- starting to turn very interesting and spicy. I think the myrrh might be starting to peek out, too, and that is very nice. Drydown: spicy and sweet -- there's something to this scent that makes me think of Lush's "Sore Labours" massage bar (which is a good thing coming from me, because I love Sore Labours). I like this -- it's much better dry on warm skin than in the imp Won't be buying a bottle, but I do like it.

OMG Snake Oil, where have you been all my life? Why did I not order this before? I should have, because I have decants of the entire Snake Pit and love them, but for some strange reason I held off on Snake Oil. Well, along with my Frederic order, I got an imp pack, and ordered an imp of Snake Oil. I just tried it last night, and it is LOVELY! It's dark and sweet and sexy, the vanilla sweetens up the spices nicely and it lasts and lasts. On me it's all sweet incense, dark and sultry. On my partner, the patchouli comes out more than the sweetness, but it's not an overpowering patchouli, it's still sexy and sultry and very, very nice. It lasts a long time, too -- some scents fade away in a few hours or even less, but this actually lasted all night. I woke up in the middle of the night and was wondering what that lovely scent was in the sheets, then I realized it was the Snake Oil! This may become a multiple bottle purchase...

Very green, very oriental in feel. I'm not getting black tea -- like many others I'm getting something closer to green tea, but not even that. Maybe roasted twig tea? There's something almost metallic to it, although that could just be my subconscious trying to come up with something to equal the bell. It's not crisp or bright, but it is still fresh. I like it a lot, but I don't think I'll get a bottle... I take that back -- in the bottle it is very crisp and bright. It settles down quite quickly on my skin, though.

Green and wet and very, very wet at that. Yet another mint that vanishes entirely. I'm sure it's supposed to be there, but for some reason it's just invisible. Why does my skin do this with mint? I like mint! It seems to go a bit cologney on me -- must be the ambergris. I was so hoping it would be a wonderful dark green mint, but *sigh* it has turned into soggy cologne. Darn those pervy octopi, I love the tentacle porn but don't really like either scent. Okay, after a little while this has calmed down a bit -- I think the honey is finally coming out. It's actually very pleasant now, but still not bottle-worthy. I still want the mint, and the mint is nowhere to be found.

Ebisu Making Love As Two Octopuses Look On

I like this scent, but unfortunately I get no oakmoss at all. It's all creamy nectarine. It's a very nice creamy nectarine, but it's not what I was hoping for. It smells lovely in the imp -- I might try it in my hair or in a locket at some point, but I'm not going to buy a bottle. On to try the other pervy octopi now... -
I really want to love this, because I'm crazy about violet and most of the other violet blends have too many other flowers. It's very nice as long as I don't breathe too deep -- if I do, I get this weird copper penny scent. I have no idea where that's coming from. I think I'll try this again another day and see if it's just my body chemistry right now...
-
This is a very complex scent. I don't get any of the verbena at all, but then again in the other blend that has it (Phantom Calliope) that I've tried, it's there for a flash of maybe a second, then it vanishes. Wet, this is herbal and a little spicy, but when it dries down it becomes beautifully herbal/sweet. The most bizarre thing I've noticed is that it smells sweeter and more powdery on my left wrist, with a tendency to swirl into violet and then back to powder again while on the right wrist it's very herbal/resinous. I'm not sure I understand this different scents on different sides of the body phenomena, but I love the fact that this is almost two entirely different fragrances. And why oh why does it have to be so hard to get? I would buy a bottle if I could...

I love last year's Pumpkin Patch, but this year's has me a little leary because of all the fruity scents. However, still went for a decant circle, because I have to try them all In the imp: OMG it's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!!! Seriously, this is PUMPKIN and butter and a little bit of something bright and fruity. Wet on the skin: the bright and fruity comes out and swirls around the pumpkin, making it less cloying/heavy, and I can smell the pear and grape (although I don't think I'd have recognized the pear right off without re-reading the description). Dry on the skin: the notes all even out into a lovely sweet, slightly sparkling mix of fruit and pumpkin. I don't get much of the jasmine tea, but there's a slightly exotic edge to the sweetness that might be it. It's definitely a nice blend, but not one I'd wear regularly. Keeping my imp, though

I like everything else in this blend, but... I didn't realize Khus = Vetiver. I'm still waiting for the vetiver to calm down and not be Attack!Vetiver. There's definitely a sweet, dark undertone to the scent that would be fantastic -- if the vetiver would just mellow out. Later: on the right wrist, the vetiver is finally fading and the dark sweetness is coming out. On the left? The whole thing went *poof*. I don't get it...

This is a fantastic dark green, woody scent. I imagine walking through the deep, dark woods, no sunlight getting through the leaves, just dark green everywhere. The branches and trunks are gnarled and ivy-wrapped, and the whole thing would be scary if it weren't so beautiful... If anyone has seen Tonari No Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro), this is the woods that the huge Totoro lives in... I think I have to buy a bottle of this one.

In the bottle it's startlingly floral, and for about 10 minutes I thought 'ick, this is horrible, it's like sitting in a funeral parlor' -- and then the other scents started coming forward. There's this delicious sweet chocolate and tobacco scent blending with the flowers now, and it's so much better than I thought from the imp. I don't think I'll buy a full bottle because I have other chocolatey scents that don't go through that horrible EW! first ten minutes, but if you like the florals and the chocolate/sweet scents, you will like this.

My lovely partner got this (among many others) for me for my birthday. In the imp it's scary men's cologne -- I can't smell any musk or anything. On my skin -- at first, omg please don't be vetiver, please don't be vetiver... it stays like this for about five minutes, and then it starts turning into something sweet and woody and musky. It's another lovely scent -- can't measure up to the really good resiny yumminess of Minotaur, or the evil dark muskiness of Czernobog, but it's pretty good.

I'm back to wondering if my nose doesn't work right. In the bottle I get none of the scents that are listed, and instead get something that's vaguely like some cheap men's cologne/after-shave. I don't understand. However, I like the description too much to not try it on so... On my skin, the clove comes out right away. I LOVE the scent of clove, so this is a good thing. I'm still waiting for any of the other notes to show up, though... And now about half an hour later, there they are. Oh this is a LOVELY blend if you like the spicy-woody types of scents. Mmmmm... must take nose from wrist to type...

I'm really not one for the florals most of the time, but this is one I'd wear happily. It starts out as a light, bright floral -- I can't really pick any one out of the mix, it blends so well. After wearing for a while it becomes slightly spicy and creamy (probably the musk and amber causing the slight spicyness), and sweet. It's beautiful! Like a number of the others, I agree it has hardly any throw, but it's so pretty I honestly don't care.

Delicious sweet incense at first -- the sweet notes of the Kyphi are really in the fore when it's wet. Then it dries down into a sweet, smoky incensy scent that is just lovely! Another one that stays really close to my skin, and it doesn't last long, but it's beautiful. Definitely contemplating a bottle!
