    Chiroptera

Lovely and sweet. I can see why bats would love this Fruity and floral and juicy. Once more a scent I wish wasn't an LE. :sigh:

    Thaleia

In bottle: overripe apples Wet: honeysuckle with apples in back Dry: goes through a slight, but not actually unpleasant, sour phase before back to a very pleasant and lasting (14+ hours) sweetness. Summary: Definite keeper, not sure it’s distinct enough for a whole bottle but would be content if another imp wanders my way once this one is done.

    Glasya

I’m sorry this is discontinued as it’s a scent I could wear a lot for when I want to feel exotic. Rose and ylang ylang with a hint of DBR and other resins behind. rich and sensual and exotic while still surprisingly comfortable.

    Typhon

Dark and incensy and while wet, rather moist. Then the veitiver comes out and dries everything out way too much. Off into the swap pile (or at least the sniffie pile)

    Bengal

In bottle: sweet musk, but not as spicy as I"d have expected Wet: sweet musky vanilla with a hint of spice Dry: much the same as wet. This is what I wanted The Lion to be. Later: Vanilla amber. mild, cozy, not much throw. Definite keeper

    Bluebeard

Scent: Bluebeard Wet: well, that's different - clean maybe ceadery? Not quite sure what to make of this one. Definitely not floral, fruity, resiny, or foody. Looking at the description it must be mostly the vetiver that whacking me over the head I don't mind a little of it in the background but this far up front it's NOT my thing. Dry: Oh there are lavender and violets. Neither of which are my favorite to beginwith and nothing that's with them is helping mitigate the aspects of them that I dislike. Summary: No, this is not really my thing, although it's not scrub-it-off-NOW awful, it's definitely for the swap pile. ADDED May 7: I decided to give it a try as a room scent to see if it was just me that it's reacting to badly and it works much better as such, but the second imp I've ended up with is still going to be swapped

    Midnight on the Midway (2006)

In bottle: bubble gum and cotton candy Wet: much like the bottle Dry: becomes more floral Later: Almost all white florals which fade out in about five hours. Summary: Fun but not enough life span or uniqueness to make me want to hunt down more then one imp.

    Resurrection of the Flesh

In bottle: spicy brown Wet: sweet spicy brown Dry: frankincense (milder than plain but that’s the only note I’m getting). Later: the frankincense and copal retreat a bit and blend really nicely with the sweet florals. Strong throw and lasts very well. Summary: Very pleasant incensy blend. Not my favorite of them, which is Lurid (I love its complexity), but really nice.

    Wolf's Heart

In bottle: Dragon’s Blood Wet: mild dbr, maybe cloves and something green/floral in the way back Dry: dbr receeds, plants come forward. Later: dbr tinged with something else still lingers 12 hours later. Summary: While I wasn’t needing any particular courage this morning it did act as a good pick-me up (this first week of Daylight Savings Time). Purely as scent I like it a lot and will track down more when I’ve used up the imp.

    Stardust

It seemed appropriate to test this on the day the Stardust Casino was imploded In bottle: the oil is dark mossy green! Sweet green herbal/floral Wet: much as in the bottle but with a pleasantly tart edge Dry: Stays nice and clean and tart and green/floral. Later: stays amazingly well for such a green, light scent. I love the dry down and it’s still there 12 hours later. Summary: Oh dear, another LE I want a bottle of! Very much my sort of scent.

    Numb

In bottle: bright white florals Wet: scrubbed clean with lightly floral soap. Dry: still soapy, but in a good way Later: You’d think I’d just washed my hands Summary: I’ll enjoy it but I don’t think I’ll wear it that often, so the one imp should do.

    The Winter of Our Discontent

In bottle: Spicy citrus Wet: a pomander! Very Christmasy (and medieval) Dry: Spicies have overtaken the citrus – strong throw Later: Stays much the same, but fades faster than I’d have expected. It must have been the citrus that gave it the initial throw. Summary: fun and spicy. I’ll be quite happy with this imp and if another wander my way I won’t complain, but it’s not a scent I’m going to need often (as a matter of fact it may hide in my imp box until next holiday season.)

    Red Devil

In bottle: fruity and floral Wet: fruity and floral and with a touch of what seems to be RED patchouli (luckily) Dry: Much like the wet, not terribly strong. Later: Sweet and spicy, mild, low-medium throw, nice. Summary: Pleasant but not as much fun or umph as, say, French Love. I'll enjoy the imp.
  14. lapillus

    Viola

In bottle: Fruity floral Wet: very light fruity floral with some amber and wood Dry: almost completely fades out Later: comes back a little but not much, which is too bad because what there is of it is very pretty. Summary: I’ll use up the imp happily (possibly all in one go), but it’s too weak to make me want more.

    Goneril

In bottle: roses Wet: A nice rose-bouquet with a bit of greenery Dry: the boquet above with some flowers added for interest. It’s bringing up scent memories of childhood trips (not the two more recent ones) to the UK. Later: It stays pretty true to the drydown and there is still a faint whiff 12 hours later. Summary: Very nice but doesn’t knock me over and not different enough to make me crave a bottle.
  16. lapillus

    Eris

In bottle: wet fruits Wet: Wet fruits and sweet, heavy florals and maybe some dry spices lurking in back. I like this one a lot. Dry: Stays much the same. Nice and clear and sweet with enough depth and complexity to be interesting. Later: Becomes warm and creamy with the spice still hanging out in back. Summary: Very, very nice. Why is it all the ones that I’ve tired recently that I want big bottles are all about discord and strife???

    Eve

In bottle: sweet and light with a touch of something more like a classic perfume sharp floral Wet: Jasmine or ylang ylang, rose (a light teaish one, not a big heavy cabbage rose) and some other flowers and maybe a bit of greenery. Dry: the greeny bits fade leaving light white florals that just managed to avoid being powdery J Later: fades some but not as fast as I was afraid it might. Summary: Nice. I’ll enjoy the imp when I want to feel girly.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I haven't had them cause vertigo but many kinds of patchouli, including the one in Count Dracula make me nauseated and give me a nasty headache and it wouldn't' be a far step from there to vertigo.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

In bottle: sort of fruity sweetness, although no specific fruit Wet: Ok, getting the olive (I think it’s the fruit) and it’s still sweet and nice Dry: very stable and pretty purely sweet. Very light throw. Later: Sticks around in its own mild form for a long time Summary: Nice, calm and cozy. I will definitely enjoy the imp. However, I was not wowed so I probably won’t go hunting for a bottle. Although if one showed up in a lot of imps I'd be quite happy.

    The Bloody Sword

In bottle: mild dragons’ blood resin Wet: light dragon’s blood with a hint of something more. It’s very nice. Dry: sweet and spicy and much lighter than I’d expected. The leather is well oiled, the myrrh and steel only the mildest hints. Medium to light throw, especially once fully dry. Later: it achieves a light, well-blended sweetness with just enough spice and sharpness to be interesting and it lasts quite well – it’s up to 11 hours and holding on well. Summary: I like this one a lot. I may have to grab a bottle if I can.

    Oberon

In bottle: traditional floral perfume Wet: Oh, much better. A somewhat powdery mix with white floral (orchid?) and white musk in the fore, spiced up what must be, looking at the description, a combination of bergamot and juniper and patchouli. So far it seems to be a mostly safe patchouli. Dry: Spicy musk with sharp floral notes Later: Spicy musk, floral almost completely gone within 45 minutes. The rest I expect will stick around for awhile. It’s strong with a good throw. It stays quite true to the later phase. Summary: I’m not quite sure what I think of this one; it’s a little sharper than I usually go for, but it’s really interesting. I think I may hold on to it for the moment and see if it seems particularly inspiring later on. This is the first one I’ve had where if I had a guy handy I’d slather it on him to see how it worked.

    Hymn to Proserpine

In bottle: spicy floral Wet: Musky amber floral Dry: musky amber floral with occasional bits of pomegranate peeking through. Dry and slightly powerdy despite the fruit. Strong throw. a little nose-tickling but a quick rinse gets rid of the problem without getting rid of the oil. frankincense comes out at about hour two and by hour four it's all incense, musk and amber. Very nice for days when I feel like being mysterious and serious. Later: frankincense-like note comes out at about hour two and by hour four it's all frankincense, musk and amber. Still going 12 hours later. Summary: Very nice for days when I feel like being mysterious and serious (it matched the mood of my burgundy cut velvet tunic). I may have to get a big bottle – so far it’s one of the better spicy scents on me.

    Seraphim

In bottle: citrusy floral Wet: sweet citrusy floral Dry: sweet white floral, stays very stable lasts about 4 hours. pleasant but nothing wow. Will enjoy imp (possibly in room scent/bath oils/scent locket) but won't hunt for bottle. Later: : sweet white floral, stays very stable lasts about 4 hours. pleasant but nothing wow. Will enjoy imp (possibly in room scent/bath oils/scent locket) but won't hunt for bottle. Summary: pleasant sweet white floral, but nothing wow. Will enjoy imp (possibly in room scent/bath oils/scent locket) but won't hunt for bottle.

    Tenochtitlan

In bottle: Fruity sweetness Wet: Brown fruity sweetness. Dry: Brown fruity sweetness with some herbs to make things nice and interesting. Warm, but not hot. Juicy and maybe heading towards overripe but not there yet. Later: Stays pretty much the same once it hits maturity with a bit more amber coming out. Summary: Nice, interesting but not really me. I may try it as a room scent as it is very evocative and I like the smell.

    Yerevan

In bottle: Apricoty musk Wet: yup, apricoty musk (yum) Dry: vanilla musky apricot with roses (there might be a spice or two hiding but it’s hard to tell. Later: very nice sweet but not cloying fruity floral. Warm, neither terribly juicy nor dry. Summary: I like it. It doesn’t quite last all day but it’s nice while it does and I’ll certainly enjoy the imp.
