    Ivanushka

After the disappointment that was Werepuppy, I have been eagerly anticipating this one. It still has a soft spice quality to it, but not the sharp cinnamon-y quality of Werepuppy. Ivanushka is softer and downier with the dry leaves quality to it - the throw has a fleeting quality to it that really evokes the idea of the scent. I think I will keep this one for fall.

    Jezebel

The orange blossom and honey is what I get right away from this one. The rose stays very close, and I wish it threw a bit more - the throw is mostly orange blossom honey. The sandalwood is holding back, but I imagine it will come out as it dries down more. Interesting enough to retest and wear all day.

    Indulgence

Whoa, that definitely has a gleaming quality to it - and yes of black and iridescent green. How does the lab do it?! Vetiver is usually a death note for me, but yet again the CPs prove me wrong. This is glittering, smoky, Victorian seance with heavy curtains cutting off any light and even heavier fabrics on the participants - think taffata and brocade. Everyone is sweating under their heavy fabrics, scared and excited for the seance.

    The Chicken-Legged Hut

After my experience with The Witch's Garden, I was expecting a very similar experience to this one, but this is not at all what I expected - to the point where I wondered if it was a mix-up, but reading the other reviews, that appears not to be the case. It is definitely sweet hay which I adore with the richness of smoke or something burnt. Hm, I think this warrants keeping for further testing.

    Glasgow

I got this as a frimp. Not one I would usually pick for myself because darker berries are usually too fruity and sweet for my tastes. This proves to be true for this scent, but the heather does add a really lovely floral touch to it.

    Lilith's Tea Party

The Liliths are always so beautiful, and this one is no exception. In the bottle and wet, it is more foodie with lots of buttery cakieness, but very quickly it morphs to more floral over a background of cake. I think I smell the tea in there, but it is more with the cakes and flowers it's little girl's tea party. I can't believe how the lab does it!

    Schrodinger's Cat

This is a perfect summer scent, but it was really faint on my skin, and the chocolate peppermint was barely discernible.

    Unseelie

This has a sharp quality that really does not work for me at, but then that settles into more of a traditional oriental floral perfume. I was expecting it to be more silver than gold in its royal quality, but it is golden courts with malicious fae, enticing you to eat their food and place their poisonous floral crowns on your head.

    Absinthe and Lace

Inspired by Edgar Degas' L'Absinthe, and created in the vein of the Dark Delicacies / Black Phoenix lace-themed collaborations. A scent of dissipation and ennui: green cognac and icy absinthe, louched, spilling onto lace that is drooping with neglect and darkened by tobacco smoke. The lace scents really are lovely - I have been trying several out lately and they all have qualities I like. This definitely gets better on the drydown. Each time I have tried it, I have been skeptical at first - the tobacco smoke being a bit much, but then it settles down, and I find myself wondering what is that gorgeous scent, and I realize it is this!

    Albedo v5

At first this was tropical sweetness on me like coconut, then it went a bit bitter before it morphed and I realized it was lemon...it keeps moving between fresh and acrid lemon which may be because as someone else mentioned it is lemongrass more than lemon. I really like the coconut with the idea of lemon, but this lemon does not like me, at all.

    The Unicorn

I couldn't capture a way to describe this until I reread the description and wispy is perfectly describable. It is there, but in and out, very white and green, a really good summer scent - I just can't get over how the lab manages to capture things like "wispy" so well.

One to Tie, Two to Win

The forecast for tomorrow is 97% humidity here and it is not even officially summer in Texas. I say this because first sniff of this, and I decided I needed to wear this tomorrow for a relief from the oppressive Texas humidity. It's sweet, dewy grasses in a bright blue sky, and there's a whiff of spiciness that makes me think of men's cologne catching in the lazy breeze of a summer baseball game which seems fitting.

    Oblivion

This almost reminds me of Black Moths from CP without the dusty quality - it's a slightly fruity, spicy scent with woods and lovely patchouli. I am very picky about patchouli, but finding out in certain combinations I like it more and more. BPAL just does that kind of magic.

    Roadhouse

This was surprisingly sweeter than I thought it would be which may be the hemp - I wish the tobacco was a wee bit stronger that would make it a little sleazier in my mind, right now on me, it is sweet and boozy.

Milk Chocolate, Raw Ginger, and Butterscotch

With the occasional cocoa butter body lotion, I avoided chocolate scents, so when I got frimped Bliss in one of my orders I was surprised by how much I liked it, so I started branching out into to more complicated chocolate concoctions, and it is rare that I don't love one. This one is no exception - it's exactly what I hoped for: sweet, buttery chocolate with a touch of spice and complexity from the raw ginger. I adore this!

    Oleander Honey

Like most of the other honeys in Rappacini's Apiary, this one goes funky on me - like dried out playdoh.

    The Queen of Hearts

Lily is iffy on me, and cherry is almost always a big no, but together this works pretty well. The lily isn't too white floral and the cherry isn't cough syrup - together it's like candied lilies...as for the stephanotis, I have no idea what that smells like.

    Snake Oil

This is my first time trying the infamous Snake Oil as a perfume! I have tried it (and used up all of it) as a frimp hair gloss, and Womb Furie from this year's Lupers is an absolute BPAL favorite of mine, so I am already biased towards this one. It's not for me as far as a perfume goes - I like how the honey in Womb Furie softens it, though I like it as a hair glass. It's definitely exotic, but the sugared vanilla gives a coziness.

    Eden

Oh wow, right on first sniff this definitely has that seeming innocence and then smacks you with a bite of spice - it really captures the innocence of the garden with the tree of evil. How does Beth do it?! I am partial to almond milk and coconut scents, and at first it was mainly those two with a touch of fig then the sandalwood immediately jumped in, and the honey part of the almond milk comes out more on the drydown. It has a foodie quality to it like baklava or something similar.

    Kitsune-Tsuki

Plum can be overwhelming for me, but I actually wouldn't have guessed this was plum till I read the description. This is a fruity floral as opposed to a floraly fruit. The plum is subtle and a bit juicy, but delicate - the orchid is the most distinct of the florals, but that's reaching because overall it is a lovely blend - perfect for late spring and early summer, not heady, but still distinctly white/purple flowers.
  21. I recently did a death match between Zombi and Deep in Earth. Zombi won, but it was a very hard decision!

    Coral Snake (2006)

Red apple, red apple, red apple. That's all I get. If I bury my nose in it, I can, faintly, detect some of the other notes. I have noticed this with a lot of red apples, so I think this is more my skin amps the hell out of red apple than the blend itself.

    Boomslang

First of all, I love how dark this oil is - it is very much a cocoa color. Wet this was very cocoa with a touch of powder and teakwood and spices in the background, but as it dries, it becomes less foody and more complex, like can't even describe, it changes a bit each time I huff, some notes more prominent than others, but I can't stop huffing which is usually a good sign.

    Firethorn Berry Tea

Oh, wow, this does smell like a lot of the berry herbal tea bags that I have, and yes, there is, lurking in the background in secret, a dark/poison aspect. The throw is okay, bordering on weak, as it seems most tea scents are on me, but overall this is very true to the theme.

    Hope

This reminds me a lot of the rose in Somewhere or Other and Roses, Pearls, Diamonds, it's a pink rose and there's even a slight fizziness that reminds me of sugar crystals. It verges at times on going plasticky like Love from the Pickman gallery does, but mostly stays a sweet and delicate pink rose.
