  1. Such a lovely scent! I don't think I have experience with larkspur before, and I think that's what's making this scent difficult to describe. I get a light pink rose and honey, but overtop another floral that's just gorgeous and breezy. The orris is thankfully not making everything musty!

    Thirteen (13): May 2022

In the imp this is a very fruity sugar with a cocoa tinge. On my skin it get almost syrupy with a good dribble caramel. The rose sugar keeps jumping out here and there as well. It eventually settled into a cocoa dusted pastry place. Delicious!

    Horn of Benediction

In the imp this is a crisp, clean incense. Incense with a warm, slightly salty musk from the ambergris. The sage and aquatic notes are giving a clean freshness to it. On my skin it is much smokier, the vetiver at the front now. But it doesn't get too harsh, just a light smoke over the sandalwood and incense. The sage and aquatic notes are detectable, but just barely.

I Am As Lyght As Byrde In Bowe

There's something lightly autumnal about this blend to me the imp. There's a freshness from the sage, but something about the cinnamon and patch makes me think autumn. On my skin the sage is even more prominent and the blend is overall much fresher and has a clean edge to it. I can pick out a bit of vanilla but the notes blend very well.
  5. On sniffing my head says Christmas. I definitely get the tomato, but I get a lot of cedar and I think the freshness of the tomato freshens the cedar. It's not dry pencil shavings cedar, but like the fresh boughs my mom put up everywhere during the holidays. On my skin I feel basically the same. I get more patchouli grounding everything but the way the tomato and cedar meld just makes me think of my childhood home at Christmas. Honestly probably getting a bottle just for the nostalgia! If I try to wrench my scent memories away, I would describe it as a fresh yet somewhat rugged scent. There's a sun-warmed quality, and yet the tomato domesticates it somewhat. You're outside, but like where someone is growing tomatoes, not the middle of a remote forest.

    Come Unto These Yellow Sands

In the imp it is a cloud of lilac to me. Sweet, slightly waxy. On my skin it is more lavender and violet, but the lilac is still hanging in there. It stays a good mix but eventually the violet takes over, as it wants to do on me. I had hope with so many flowers it would be kept in check but alas! The salt does keep the sweetness of the violet from going wonky on me at least.

    Tuberose, Melon, and Mandarin

This one mad me feel giddy upon smelling in the decant. Mellow melon with an almost fizzy mandarin over the top. It smells like summer as a kid, so carefree. On my skin it's less fizzy, but the balance is similar. The tuberose is starting to give some light headiness but is very much in the background, it just makes the scent slightly more grown up, along with a slight bitterness from the orange. Grown up but still fun. Delightful summer blend.
  8. Super juicy plum in the decant, a really incredible plum. On my skin the plum is most prominent, lifted with a fresh green tea. As it dries the jasmine finally peaks out on me, it's heady and sweet and melds into the plum. An absolutely stunning trio!

    Cucumber, Lime, and Freesia

Juicy, cool, with a bit of a bite. The cucumber makes up the scent in the decant with a bite of lime zest, tart and a bit bitter. The freesia is just sort of breezy around it. It stays fairly true on my skin with the lime and freesia sticking around more prominently as it wears.

    Elphame's Feast

I get a light not super buttery cardamom cake with a layer of white florals. As it dries I distinctly get lily, with a cool green quality. There's other florals but I can't quite pin them.

Why and What Art Thou Dreaming Here

At first the blackberry is very juicy and sweet, almost syrupy. As it sits on my skin it gets lower, more rumbly. The lavender is sort of a haze over the top. The magnolia and datura are difficult to pick out for me, but I think are definitely adding to the vibe. Lightly sweet, but dark and sort of wispy. Like a strange dream fading.

    Odic Force

The desire to inflict a mortal wound on the monster, Superstition, which, from a similar origin, a few centuries ago, inflicted on European society so vast an amount of misery, and by whose influence not hundreds, but thousands, of innocent persons died in tortures, on the rack and at the stake; the desire made me wish to make the experiment, if possible, of bringing a highly sensitive person, by night, to a churchyard. I thought it possible that they might see, over graves where mouldering bodies lay, something like that which Billing had seen. Eucalyptus blossom, lime rind, and white mint coalescing into a green-tinged amber glow. In the bottle this is soft and green. Sweet lime, zingy but not sour and puckering with the softest most gentle eucalyptus I have ever smelled. I normally think of eucalyptus as purely utilitarian for use in aromatherapy bath products, but I never find it pleasant or wearable (in regards to perfume). Beth has completely transformed the possibilities of this note for me. It dries down into a truly eerie green scent. Light mint (not a chilly mint) with the lime, eucalyptus, and amber all softly mingling. I cannot stress enough how gentle this blend is, despite the potential of the notes for being bright or bracing. Very soothing and relaxing, perfect for hectic winter celebrations.

    Traveling with BPAL

I've also never had issues flying with BPAL! I generally prefer to keep it in my liquids bag in my carry-on but that's largely because I'm scared of my luggage getting lost. I've also gone through security with the odd bottle and imps floating around my carry-on without issue!

    Bright Red Dildo

2022 In the imp I get a rich robust honey and a hint of light fruity red musk. On my skin the leather comes out, warm and just a touch of roughness. The fruity aspect I got initially does back just leaving a tint of 'red' in the scent, if that makes sense. The honey is a thick sweet glaze over it all.

    Olisbokollike

Crusty bread, lightly sweetened cream and a bit of butter. Absolutely delicious and inviting.

    Crack of Thunder Hair Gloss

Oh man why did I wait so long to try this! I think I was expecting it to be be sharper. It's a gorgeous ozone-incense. It's fresh, maybe with a bit of citrus? It has the cool smoothness I associate with blue musk. The plum is prominent as well and melds really well with the ozone and incense. Something about the combination makes me think of opium scents, like it has depth but not a heaviness. Gorgeous scent!

    Under The Silvery Moonbeams

In the imp I get a kaleidoscope of greens all spattered by rain. Cool spiky pine, warm vegetal matcha, and dewy clean moss all dusted by sweet cardamom. On my skin it gets warmer and sweeter, I suspect from the labdanum. As it dries I get mostly a sweet, cardamom dusted moss scent with hints of pine and tea.

    A Meal Interrupted

A delicate fresh and glittering green! The lettuce is crisp yet delicate and the cucumber and melon make this so dewy and fresh. I get just a hint of a bite I think maybe from onion and pepper but it just gives some nuance to the green freshness (reminds me a bit of the effect of the wasabi note in Frog Moon).

    Honeyed Mushroom and Incense

A beautiful earthy blend. The mushroom and incense meld really well. It's earthy round and warm with a beautiful sweetness from the honey.

    A Nocturnal Visitor

Oh I just love this combination! The orange and peach are so juicy and nectary. I can distinguish them but they meld really well. On my skin the labdanum and sandalwood peak out a bit to give complexity but it is really about the fruit. It's sophisticated yet juicy and fun.

    Imose-Yama

In the imp this is a beautiful rose and cream with a gorgeous fruity-floral as well. I think the peony and broom. It stays pretty true on my skin. There's something almost juicy about it and then the gorgeous rich cream underneath. I can see the comparisons to Rose Jam but I like this so much better, as I find Rose Jam a sickly sort of sweet. This has more of a lightness and complexity to it. Makes me think of a gown with layers of pink and peach tulle over cream satin.
  22. In the imp I'd almost mistake this for a lotus scent, as it has a waxy sweet and almost bubblegum quality to it. But I find this a bit more herbal, and if I search around I can find the frankincense. The frankincense is the strongest note on me, followed by a whisper of dry sandalwood. Tansy isn't a note I've tried much (or maybe ever? Not so sure now) and I'm finding it to be a bit sweet and waxy like lotus but there's also something a bit like chamomile to it. This is a really nice blend, it makes me think of a warm wildflower meadow.
  23. Gorgeous spicy musky rose! I agree a dark, gothic rose scent. Black musk can be a bit hit or miss on me, here is it beautiful giving a nice depth to the velvety red rose.

    Auxilium

This scent is so so soothing. Soft rosy incense and woods, with a bit of that waxy ylang ylang floating over top. I can pick out the brightness of the lemon as I breathe it in deeply.

    Lavender & Lichen

A really airy, herbal lavender with what comes off to me as a rainy, green almost petrichor note. Mossy and fresh and the lavender compliments it beautifully.
