By Day She Made Herself into a Cat

Gorgeous! The amber is smooth and chewy, and the black musk is really lovely. Slinky and spicy.

    Clown Footstool

Surprised to get mostly vanilla buttercream, even in my skin. As it settles the florals start to creep out but they are really subdued by the buttercream, not big and heady at all. It is a truly lovely combination though.

    Extravagant Foreplay

In the imp this is bright and bubbly, mostly lime and yuzu but a strong undercurrent of smooth vanilla. On my skin the lychee and blackberry come out, a combination I've not experienced before but I really like it, sweet and floral lychee with the darker juiciness of blackberry. The citrus notes brighten it. I get more green tea and vanilla as it wears. A really fun and unique fruit scent!

    The Ninth Cage

2023 Reboot Edition. This is dark, sweet and resinous. It has this chemical sort of edge, but a pleasant one, a bit like the asphalt note in Waiting.

    Little Yellow Ducklings

So bright and juicy in the imp, all pineapple and mango. Ever-so-slightly less juicy on the skin with the sandalwood and frankincense adding a slight powdery softness underneath, pushing it more perfumey than just straight up fruit. Not sure if I can pick out honey specifically, but I think it is adding to the sweetness. A super cheerful blend!

    Bat Jockeys

This starts out wonderfully foodie, softly spiced cream and hazelnuts. The brown musk and mandarin come out on my skin, and overall a touch earthier. Very snuggly.

    Silk Daffodil

Dark, heady neroli dominates at first but soon followed by greenish daffodil. The amber is very soft on my skin, very much buried under the flowers. It's refreshing yet elegant.

    The Midnight Carnival

2023 Reboot Edition In the imp this brought to mind a dark, semi-tropical forest. Earthy woods and patch made a bit humid by the florals and moss. On my skin it makes me think of a mysterious cart selling exotic goods, a fae peddler. It's more incense, with a bit of earthiness behind it. Florals mingle over the top, mostly lavender and neroli.

    Rest and Play

My partner wanted me to grab a sample of this, I had expected this to be rather smoky and therefore not my thing. However the smoke is the smooth, sweetish kind I have found often labelled as 'hearthsmoke'. It's very subtle as I get more wood and fur. The mahogany is smooth and stately, and the fur is reminiscent of Bear Prince. A really cozy, atmospheric scent. It reminds me a Last Tavern at the Town Gate, though more in overall feel than specific notes.

Teahouse on Nakanocho in Yoshiwara Hair Gloss

Gorgeous sparkling citrus and green tea. The white amber rounds it out with out weighing down the floatiness of the the grapefruit and tea. Agree it's expensive smelling.

    Kon Kurabe Tama No Ase

This makes me want to curl up in a cabin in the snow with a delicious spiced pudding. The notes that win out in this creamy, spiced melange are the marzipan and cinnamon. It's very creamy though, which softens the almond a bit, and I can pick out the clove as well. It stays strong and more or less the same for hours, but as it fades I get more pistachio and vanilla.

    Cat Churning Butter

Beautiful lightly sweet buttery cream. I barely detect the frankincense, it melds really well, just giving a bit of complexity.

    Miss Spink

More tuberose than gardenia on my skin, and just a touch of biscuit underneath. Heady, slightly waxy blooms and just a touch of gourmand sweetness.
  14. This is a swirl of heady florals and incense on me. Jasmine and I think lilac, floating over a medley of rich incense. I get a touch of cardamom as it dries. Floofy, antique glamour.

    Soup

This is definitely more tomato leaf than tomato flesh to me. And surprisingly wearable! Earthy patchouli with tomato leaf and I swear a bit of an evergreen note that pushes this from a summery scent to a more wintry one. The black pepper is rather quiet on me. It reminds me a bit of the Tomato, Patchouli Root, and Cedar Bean ménage.

    Methods of Relaxation and Leisure

I get mostly honeycomb and green tea in the imp, thick rich honey with a touch of wax. On my skin the tea fades a bit and I get a good hit of bergamot and incense mixed with the honey. Not sure if I am getting the lotus root. A really beautiful scent, languid thick honey and incense with a bit of pep from the bergamot.

    Carousel Anesthesia

Something about this is incredibly familiar and nostalgic to me. I get a lot of lavender, lime, and amber out of the gate. It's breezy and light. As it dries I get a bit a light tobacco, grapefruit, and a hint of the cannabis accord. But overall still a light, clean, breezy scent without being soapy. The amber and tobacco give a bit of warmth and body to scent.

    Moon Blep

In the imp this is sharp citrus (mostly lime and bergamot) and dark sweet plum. There's something almost fizzy, and it makes me think of like an expensive artisan soda. On my skin the order shuffles to be more plum and mandarin prominent, and as it dries I get a deep woody-adjacent tea backing it up. There is something very autumnal about it, and it makes me look forward to cozy weather.

    Sloth

Thick, chewy myrrh. The vetiver comes out on my skin, slightly smoky and grassy. A dark, heavy scent.
  20. A tumble of citrus! Definitely a bitter leaning citrus scent, which I absolutely adore. The neroli seems to win out on my skin, just a hair over the yuzu, which has a really bracing zest. The mandarin is sweet, giving a bit of relief to the heady bitterness of the other two.

    Pink Lovebird

2023 version. I love the combination of cake and cardamom, though I agree this is definitely less sweet than Perfectly Normal Childhood. The cotton candy gives a faint fruitiness that also makes it different. A lot of fruit notes go strange on me, but it stays soft and indistinct. A soft, delightful cake scent.
  22. In the bottle I get a beautiful vanilla and black tea combo. The black tea is one of the most true to life I've come across in perfume, it has that bottomless woody-sweet quality. There's a lemony edge that reminds me a little bit of Dorian. A really beautiful soft incense backs this on my skin. It reminds of how the soft incense sort of melds with the cake in All Souls. Comforting yet refreshing, so glad I picked this one up!

    Green Lovebird

In the bottle a cloud of sugary vanilla mint, like Alisz but without the tart berry note. On my skin that beautiful creamy pistachio comes out. Absolutely delicious.

    The Harlot's House

A fresh, cologne-y floral. I mean cologne-y in the best way, it has this layered, intentional vibe. Not just a bunch of florals, but a composed air to it. The tea starts off really forward and fresh, but on my skin everything melds together. Even violet, which usually doesn't play nice on my skin, I can't pick out in particular.
  25. In the bottle I get evergreen and clean cotton mostly, maybe some white florals wrapped up in that laundry breeze. On my skin it gets more meadowy- grassy and a mix of florals that I have difficulty pulling apart. I definitely could see lily being in the mix, there's a light sappy/waxy floral element. The evergreen note is hanging out in the background and a teensy streak of lemon starts to poke out as it dries down. I can't really pull out any of the textile notes or that 'laundry' vibe from the bottle, but I think it is all melding into that meadow mix. A spring breeze in a bottle!
