Crisp, slightly bitter lettuce and cool cucumber at the forefront. Breezy white tea and cherry blossom rounding it out. Great springtime soak!

Snappy black leather and DBR in the imp made me think this wasn't going to work at all, but the leather is surprisingly soft on my skin. Could be because I amp the DBR like crazy, which is all you can smell at a distance. Sweet and smoky up close, but with my skin I am a cloud of fruity candy.

First on I get a bitter neroli backed by soft powdery iris. I expected for the violet to take over from this point, but it stays green and sort of sappy. I can still detect the iris and the violet in the background, sweet and powdery.

The almond in this when first spritzed is so sweet to be almost fruity, and something about the combination of notes read as 'banana' for a moment. However it settles to a rich, nutty slightly sweet (but no longer fruity) almond atop rich cream and cozy sandalwood.

2025. Sweet red apple with the slight bitterness of the peel. Fruity red musk melds into it, and a gorgeous dark vanilla amber underneath. I don't pick out the fig specifically, but I think it is adding to the fruity sweetness. To me this doesn't come off as juicy-fruity, it has a more dry incense-y quality.

So buttery-creamy in the bottle! On my skin it is more musky, with that gorgeous fuzzy suede. It brings the sweetness down somewhat. A lot of gorgeous vanilla on my skin as well. Wet I wasn't sure there was any actual rose in this, but dry I can find it. Soft pink rose that melds into the creamy notes. A cozy, creamy gourmand-ish.

Yes crisp mountain forest air! I get mostly juniper and pine, and when freshly spritzed heady, slightly funky jasmine. Settled the jasmine is deep, somewhat dark and gives a mysterious, enchanted quality to this forest.

Gorgeous cool, airy scent. It comes across cool and crisp from the mint and eucalyptus blossom but not overly *minty* or in anyway astringent in the way eucalyptus bath products can be. I get more spruce in the bottle than I do on my skin, it is still there but softer and a bit sweeter. This means aquatic with the blue musk, and every so slightly salty. It's very much a wash of scent, not faint but sheer. The ambergris gives a nice body and halo to the scent, sort of blurring everything together. I swear I get a bit of lime or bergamot as well. It makes me think of looking at the sun glittering on the sea in the distance on a cool, crisp day.

This is much fresher and brighter in the imp than I had anticipated. On the skin I get the darker green mossy and woody notes I expected, shot through with just a bit of brightness like sun-dappled woods. As it settles I get the gorgeous creamy vanilla and incense rounding everything out.

2024. For some reason I am nearly completely nose-blind to this (just this- I checked!) once on my skin. In the imp I get dry red musk and incense, and on my skin I get just a hint of caramel and red musk. My wife could smell it at distance however, and gave a positive review (musky-spicy-caramel).
-
Fruity red musk and sticky fig are the main notes on my skin initially. As it dries the tuberose peaks out, heady and rich. I thought the neroli was missing for a while but I think it is blending somewhat into the musk and fig, it doesn't have the bitterness it sometimes has.

Initially on my skin this is all thick, sweet vanillic beeswax with soft leather and patchouli. As it settles this remains the heart of the scent, surrounded by a cloud of incense. Very much a dark library scent.

Cold Moon: Jasmine Absolute and Champaca
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
A gorgeous jasmine, slightly heady but no sharpness or funk. Creamy but with a faint greeness. Champaca has a tendency to be really sharp on me, but here it is just adding a incense-y quality to the jasmine.- 3 replies

2024. Echoing everyone in that this is The Holiday Scent. Sweet green fir with slightly peppery bayberry. The myrrh comes out more as it dries. Gorgeous wintry blend.
-
Slightly chilled (not minty or piney snow- something more along the lines of Snow White but different still) sweet coconut rice. The rice note is very prominent on me, that gorgeous sweet-starchy note.

Fresh, cold, and indeed melancholic in the imp. Lilies and moss. I don't think I've tried anything with carrot seed, but looking it up I think I'm getting a fresh green woodiness in there. Unfortunately as it settles on my skin the moss pretty much takes over, and something is going screechy on me in concert with it. Skin chem fail.

L’Homme Fut Solitaire Dans un Paysage de Nuit
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
All resins in the decant to my nose, sticky sweet but somehow light and sort of airy at the same time. A slight fizz. Labdanum has been something of an It Girl note for me lately and this blend is no different. I find it a touch fizzy in this blend, made a bit lighter I think by a brighter leaning frankincense (not quite lemony but not super woody either) and airy-musky ambergris. The lilac is not prominent on me, just a light touch of it in the dry down. Resin lovers take notice!- 2 replies

In the imp this is reminding me strongly of Antique Lace Resurrected, a sweet floaty vanilla but overtop a sticky amber and cardamom base (the vanilla-cardamom combo is also recalling Perfectly Normal Childhood but less buttercreamy more grownup). On my skin it is slightly less sweet, more toothsome. I get more orchid and a touch of smoke. Addictive! Absolutely incredible and a definite bottle upgrade in the future.

Cold Moon: Osmanthus and Sweet Frankincense
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Oh this is so pretty! Osmanthus is one of those florals that I've never been sure about, in that I struggle to know if I'm pulling it out in blends. I'm actually not getting a whole lot of frankincense out of this blend once it hits my skin. It is a gorgeous fresh fruity-floral, I agree that there is something peachy or apricot-y about it. Nectar-sweet springtime blooms.- 2 replies

The Great Battle of the Vegetables and the Fish
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
In the imp this is surprisingly fruity; salty, slightly spicy, grapefruit. I can also detect a dead-on radish scent, like dry spicy dirt. On my skin the salt and grapefruit fade way back and this is very much a fresh green vegetal scent on me. Something is *almost* like tomato leaf, sun-warm and green but without that ¿muskiness? I associate with it. There's a touch of salt that keeps this from being a pure garden scent. More like coastal vegetable patch. There's something crisp and watery, sort of cucumbery? Really fresh and beautiful. Was not expecting to like this so so much.- 3 replies

Goose Moon: Nag Champa Smoke and White Gardenia
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Gorgeous gentle nag champs, lightly sweet and I agree sort of cleaned-up by the gardenia. Instead of an incense smoked-stained room it has the impression of incense on a tropical breeze. The gardenia isn't stealing the show by any means. -
Black Pine and Incense Smoke Atmosphere Spray
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Atmosphere
Smoky pine and incense. Not a breath-of-fresh-air pine scent, like @bheansidhe said it is darker, and wilder. Murky deep woods.- 4 replies

This reminds me a bit of the cotton hoodie + lavender situation of You Are Not Alone, but with an extra shot of sweetness. To me this is in the same realm as Boober. But where the linden in that is honey-sweet and the scent is like laundry drying in the sun, this is less breezy and more snuggly. A gorgeous clean scent!

This starts off very juniper forward on me, crisp cool evergreenness with a bit of chewy amber underneath. As it dries the juniper fades back and I get more patchouli and musk. It's soft, earthy, fuzzy. The juniper and lemon just streak through a bit.

In the imp I get almost equal magnolia and lilac, but on my skin it is definitely more about the lilac. Waxy, cool, dainty. A touch of warm muskiness from the ambergris.
