    The Forest Reverie

I mostly get soft roses growing in a smoky forest. It's very woodsy and green at it's heart, but the opium makes it darker and much more complex. I was slightly worried that the roses were going to be stronger, but they politely rest in the middle not overwhelming everything but still make itself known. This is very pretty and it feels like a darkly feminine forest, to my nose.

    The Hamptons

It's a nice fizzy cosmo alright. It's very sweet and is almost more like cosmo mix rather than one with the booze. While I do think it's nice, it doesn't grab me. I'm glad to have tried it, but I won't need more.

    The Lion

For me, this one is like cinnamon mead. It's very spicy and has a sweet honey wine base to me. I actually get surprisingly little amber from this at all. It does command attention as cinnamon often does. I'm really not a fan of cinnamon, so I'll have to pass on this one.

    Dwarven Ale

I get a lot of brown sugar and apple from this one. It's actually very similar to a sweetbread being baked as opposed to an ale. It doesn't smell particularly like ale to me. It's way more like a baked good than a drink. I'm not crazy about bakery scents, but this one isn't so bad. The sweetness even seems to stay in check. It's still not something I'd really reach for, but it is nice.

    Voodoo Lily

Weirdly, I think I get orange fizzy candies when it's wet. It's very sweet, and a little tart. And that goes away after it dries. Once settled it changes to a really sweet lily scent. I'm not sure exactly where the orange candy came from, or went for that matter, but now all I'm left with is an almost tropical lily. Something about it screams beachy, but I can't put my finger on why. It's quite pleasant, though.

    Black Annis

If you like vetiver and anise this one is absolutely for you. Vetiver is really quite strong on me, so I'm not surprised it's very dominant. The anise comes through though, and gives it a bit of a bite. If vetiver doesn't tend to overwhelm on you, and you like something that leans deeper and traditionally masculine it might be worth a shot.

    Nyarlathotep

I get more ozone than I was expecting out of this. It's airy, but a little smoky. I was anticipating something much darker based on the description. This one was so airy that it completely vanished on me in under ten minutes. That's never happened before. How odd.

    Lick It Now

Exactly what it says on the tin. It's extra sweet peppermint candy. It's not the harshness that comes with straight peppermint oil. It's crazy sweet as described and the mint just happily hums along. It's not complicated, but it is nice.

    Horreur Sympathique

The perfume of a hellbound soul, gleefully lost to iniquity: blood musk, golden honey, thick black wine, champagne grapes, tobacco flower, plum blossom, tonka bean, oakmoss, carnation, benzoin, opoponax, and sugar cane. The strongest notes I get from this are the wine and the grapes. I get a lot of that purple, grapey feeling from this one. The sheer sweetness from these two notes and likely the sugar cane drowns out the rest. Sweet anything amps like crazy on me, so any subtleties are lost on me. It's really strong grape candy and that's not for me.

    Fallen

This one is truly golden. It's very resinous and warm. I get a lot of amber and sandalwood right away, but there is some violet running under that. It's just a soft floral that only adds to the beauty. I was very worried about the vetiver because it very often completely overtakes on me. It doesn't do that here, which I'm very surprised. It's really just a solid resin scent with that touch of violet for something to break it up a little. Not bad.

    Thanatos

Myrrh strikes again. Soapy florals is almost all I could get out of this one, I'm afraid. I get a little bit of sandalwood in the beginning, but after that I just get heady, soapy rose. I know it's not because of the rose because of my history with myrrh, but it doesn't do anything to quell it either. Talk about a total takeover.

    Wicked

This smells very traditional. I get fresh rose and jasmine, but they've been drenched in washing powder. Myrrh commonly goes soapy on me and this one did, too. Oh, well. I guess we just can't get along.

    Thirteen (13): May 2016

I mostly get very deep, rich dark chocolate. There are some golden notes that I get out of this, but I can't pinpoint any of them. It does smell distinctly warm. I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate scents so it isn't for me, but I can see where someone looking for a warm, golden chocolate would hit the jackpot.

    Salomé

This one is almost all jasmine for me. It's almost all jasmine and the only thing that breaks it up is some almond. Almond and I are usually at odds, so I'm not crazy about this. I actually quite like jasmine as a note, but when it's almost all I get from a scent I'm not likely to reach for it very often. Especially since I'm not fond of almonds, the only other note I get.

    The Witch's Repast

True to form, it smells like dinner baking. I get sweet raisin bread most of all, but there's also wine and a touch of something savory. It's like walking into someone's kitchen right after everything was pulled out of the oven. When it dries, the wine is much stronger and takes the center stage. I don't like smelling like a meal, so it's a pass, but am I impressed with the execution nonetheless.

    The King of Hearts

My skin does a lot of awful things to cherry notes. I mostly get fermenting cherries and some strong musk. I usually like musks as a family of notes, but this is not helping. The cherry, white musk, and red musk fight angrily for dominance until the lavender comes in around 20 minutes later and settles them down a bit. The king is really not my friend.

    Bruised Violet Compound

True to its name, it is a very nice violet heavy scent. It's almost all I get except for a nice support of oakmoss and patchouli. Neither the oakmoss or patchouli are particularly overwhelming. They mostly go towards making the violet smell more earthy and like they were found in a forest. I don't get any currants, but I'm kind of okay with that.

    The Coiled Serpent

I get quite a bit of patchouli in here, but also a lot of other resins. It's very warm and grounding, but there seems to me a bit of a tangy note to it. My nose tells me it's mustard seeds, but I don't think I believe it. I'd wager it's some vegetation mixing with one of the resins and it just reminds me of making sweet pickles. Weird, and not for me.

    Jack

Jack is the straightforward, no nonsense fall scent. If you think of all the hallmarks of what the season should smell like, this is it. It's sweet pumpkins and rich spices in a pastry cooling by a window on a breezy fall day. Of course none of this works for me, but I know it's something a lot of people look for.

    Perversion

This one went rum heavy on me right away. Rum and wine are probably the strongest notes for me, followed by leather. It smells a little sweet and a little raunchy. Like a particularly eventful night out. Alcoholic and sweet notes are two things that I can be very picky about, and I think the combination really doesen't work for me. I'd love to be more descriptive, but because it makes me smell like a rowdy night at a bar, I'm not in a good place to give it a fair shake.

    Eden

It's too overpowering on me. I get nothing but sweet almond milk and toasted coconut. It's really quite strong and throws pretty far. I don't think I get any outright fig, but it might just be the almond and coconut drowning it out. If I liked creamy almond, I'd be all over this. Sadly, I'm not really a fan.

    Lear

I get a lot of sage and bay from this one. The cedar is behaving for me and generally plays nice. Needless to say, it's very herbal and green. If it stayed like a handful of herbs it would be quite nice, but it turns pretty medicinal on me. It's still dry, but it's a little harsh to my nose. What a shame.

    Hard Cider Cake

A thick, spongy white cake spiked with hard apple cider and frosted with whiskey-laden buttercream. It's exactly what it says on the tin. There's quite a bit of buttercream on a cider-drenched cake. I'm not crazy about wearing baked good scents, but you never know until you try. I can see anyone liking apples and cakes loving this. It doesn't smell particularly boozy either, which does make me like it a bit more. It's still not my speed, but I can see where it could be someone's favorite.

    El Dia de los Reyes

2013 version This is the snuggliest hot chocolate that I have the misfortune of not being able to drink. It's rich and spiced with cinnamon. It smells absolutely delicious, but I'd rather my kitchen smell like it than me.

    The Chicken-Legged Hut

Oh man, this one was not the one for me. This was all burning thatch with a nutty note and is completely smothered in melting brown sugar. It's extremely potent and overly sweet . On me it was so oppressive that I couldn't even wait for it to dry. I can't deal with overly sweet bakery type smells, and on me that's what it really screams plus the burning grass. Passing this one on for sure.
