Snow Scene with Cherry Blossoms Beside the Phallus Statue
WinterSong replied to soniahgreen's topic in Lupercalia
This is stunning. It is all pine and mint in the bottle, but after application, it blossoms into a sweet, sugary floral. I'm getting warm cherry blossoms and ume, and I just adore this. A perfect spring scent. -
In the bottle, this is a lovely, sugary cherry with a leather note barely hiding in there. As it dries down, my skin starts to amp up the leather and the bitter almond while the cherry almost vanishes completely. There's a hint of red fruit remaining, but on me, this becomes a leather/almond-dominant scent. It's surprisingly cozy and comforting.

A bright, sugary toffee apple mixed with swirls of boozy musk. This one is gorgeous and highly recommended if you're a fan of apple scents and smut. I'm so glad I have a full bottle because this is gorgeous and backup bottle worthy!

On me, there isn't even a subtle hint of coffee. I get a sweet, creamy licorice orange with just a hint of sugar and milk. It isn't the coffee scent I was hoping for, but it's absolutely delightful! Very pretty. I need a full bottle and will cherish my decant.

I love this one. In the bottle, it smells like sweet coffee and chocolate. Initially, I was concerned because it goes through a plasticky stage about 20 minutes after application. But on me it dries down to a sweet caramel coffee. It's a definite winner and I'm so happy that I have a bottle!

This is cold and foreboding. In the bottle I get sharp eucalyptus and menthol. I suspect there might be some light florals in this, however, as the scent seems to sweeten on dry down and the sharpness fades. This is a really light, fresh aquatic on my skin. It's something I would wear when I'm at home and want to wear something that isn't too strong. Sadly, however, it only lasts a couple of hours before fading significantly.

This smells so promising in the bottle! I was so excited to try this one. On me, however, it ends up smelling like Hot Buttered Whiskey. My skin is fickle when it comes to rum/whiskey scents and this pretty much proves it for me. What a shame! I might store it away and come back to it in a few months...

Dead Leaves, Violet Candy, and Sugar Crystals
WinterSong replied to Upstart Crow's topic in Halloweenie
In the bottle, I get dead leaves, and dead leaves only. I was admittedly a little concerned since the dead leaves note can be a bit overpowering at times. But this dries down to a sweet, sugared violet with just a hint of that dead leaves note that was so strong in the bottle. This is absolutely delightful. I think I'll be wearing this one a lot!- 14 replies

This is stunning. It reminds me a lot of Shadow in the Elevator and Black Moths. It's very purple. Plummy and sophisticated. I really love this one, and I'm so glad I have a bottle.

I wasn't too sure about this one - amber and rose are fickle notes on me. Amber often turns to powder, and rose tends to fade, so I didn't know what to suspect. In the bottle, I get rose. So much rose. But on dry down, this becomes something sweet, and sophisticated. The rose doesn't vanish too much, and the amber behaves itself. On me, this actually reminds me a bit of a lighter, brighter Lucille Sharpe, without the plum and smokiness. I like it! I'm glad I chanced it and got myself a bottle because I'm going to be wearing this one a lot!

I adore plum notes and had really high hopes for this one. In the imp, I smell mostly plum with a hint of florals, which seemed promising. Unfortunately for me, the florals amp right up once applied, and it gives me a killer headache. It's a real pity because it smells gorgeous in the imp. Definitely not for me. I'll be passing this one on to someone else.

I had really high hopes for this one, as I love opoponax and wine. And I do indeed get wine and herbs in the bottle, but on me, it smells a lot like.... mustard. And I'm not really sure how I feel about that. I do get whiffs of sweet herbally wine from time to time, but when I sniff my wrist? Mustard. I may pass this one on to a friend, and see if she has better luck with it than I did!

2016: In the bottle, this is deliciously sweet. On me, it initially goes through an unpleasant plastic stage, and this lasts for about 30 minutes. However, I'm so glad I stuck with it, and didn't wash it off, because this eventually becomes a sweet, sugary vanilla and brandy. There isn't a whole lot of throw, but it's stunning and I can see myself wearing it a lot.

In the imp, this is a sweet, rosy pear. On me, the pear fades a little, and the florals start to amp. I don't get any rose, but I do get a lot of plumeria, sweetened by pear. This is a very light, pleasant scent. It isn't too cloying or sharp, as florals can often be on me. This is a soft, fruity floral. Perfect for work. I think I need a bottle!

In the imp, all I can smell is pine. I tend to amp pine, so I was a little worried. Upon applying, the berries begin to make an appearance, which softens the pine a little bit. After about 20 or so minutes, this starts to become a mix of berries, florals and pine. It's nice, but it's very, very strong. A little drop goes a long way for me, personally, and too much of this oil tends to give me a headache. It's nice, but I don't think I need a bottle. I have other berry scents that are less cloying, and unfortunately, I find the pine to be a little too intense for me. Would absolutely recommend this to those who love pine and berry notes, though!

In the imp, this is a strong, sweet but slightly harsh scent. I honestly was not too sure what to expect with this one, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. This one is a morpher, and it's beautiful. It becomes a sweet floral strawberry once it dries. On me, it isn't a strong scent. It remains close to the skin for most of the day and vanishes after about 5 hours. It's really lovely though and I think I need a bottle or three.

In the imp: Dark, smoky opium. On my skin, the other notes begin to shine through, but after a minute or two, this scent does something very bizarre: It ends up smelling a little like vegemite. I've tested the imp twice and on both occasions, this happened. Then, sadly, it goes sour on my skin. I think this would smell lovely on someone else, but it's definitely not for me.

Oh goodness, Dorian is beautiful! In the imp, I get lemon vanilla tea and it dries down to a gorgeous sugary vanilla on me, with a lingering hint of tea. I purchased an imp because I'd heard good things about this particular scent, and I am not disappointed. This gets more wonderful with age; I can't stop sniffing my wrist. This is easily one of my favourite GC blends. Medium throw. Lasts all day on me. I highly recommend this to fans of tea and vanilla scents!

This was a frimp from the lab! In the imp, I smell lemongrass. Wet: The lemongrass starts to mellow out, and the lime starts to amp out. After a few minutes, it goes a little sour, but thankfully, it doesn't remain this way for long. Drying out: The coconut starts to appear. The lime is still quite strong. I'm not really getting any of the other notes here. Dry: The musk has made an appearance, but this is mostly coconut lime on me. It's quite nice, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't often have much luck with citrus blends but this one works. I think this will be a great, summery scent. I don't think I need a bottle, but I will love and cherish my imp.

Rose has a tendency to fade on me very quickly, so it's no surprise that this one does too. However, this particular rose doesn't completely disappear. The spices seem to hold it all together on me, so it lasts a bit longer. It's a soft scent; there is minimal throw on me and it's very close to the skin. It's also very pretty. A spicy, soft rose. I recommend this one to rose fans!

This is deliciously sweet and fruity; I'm getting lots of ginger, cinnamon, and apple cider with a hint of wine. I'm going to have to agree with Little Bird; this smells like a sugary fruit punch. On me, it's delicious and festive, and I'm glad that I blind purchased a bottle. I can see myself wearing this a lot!

In the imp, I get a sweetened rose. Sadly, most rose scents tend to fade on me, very quickly, but this particular rose seems to stay. It's very subtle; the lotus overpowers it, but it's still there in the background. This is a lovely scent. It's subtle, sweet and soft, and I can see myself purchasing a bottle in the future.
-
This is nice. In the bottle and on first application, it reminds me of herbal berry tea. I can smell rose hip in this. On me, sadly, it fades really quickly, though. The scent is very subtle and close to the skin, and there's not much throw at all. It's a shame because it really is lovely. I'm glad I got to try it!

At first, I get lots of poppy, lillies, tobacco and patchouli. It's strong, but as it dries down, the patchouli and tobacco fade, and the musks and black current come out to sweeten everything. On me, the black current becomes quite strong, and so does the red and black musk. There isn't a lot of throw, but this is absolutely lovely! I may need another bottle!

This was a generous frimp from the lab! I wasn't too sure what to expect from Baobhan Sith. Citrus notes rarely cooperate with me. In the imp: Fresh grapefruit, with a tiny hint of tea and ginger. I'm not picking up on any apple blossom, here. Wet: The tea and ginger notes become stronger. There is still a hint of grapefruit. As it dries, it becomes a sweet citrus tea. It's very pleasant, but there's minimal throw. Dry: Grapefruit and ginger tea. It's lovely, but subtle, and very light. I'll definitely hold on to the imp, but I'm not sure I need a bottle.
