This one was a frimp I got from a Trading Post order and I was very interested in trying out something that has parchment and tonka notes, so I had to try this one out fairly soon out of the lineup I was sent. The leather had me a bit unsure, but I'll tell you how that turned out below. In Bottle: I opened this one a bit early out of curiosity and whew! Very masculine to my nose and spicy, which I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised about. I definitely smell the leather note in this. It has somewhat of an antique study room smell to it, I think, with the leather, wood, and old parchment notes together. The spice I'm picking up must be the incense. I was somewhat hoping the tonka would sweeten it up, and I suppose it might a tiny bit. Wet on Skin: First whiff is leather and it was pretty darn musky, but it seems to be settling down a bit. Getting more wood (especially rosewood) and incense, I think, maybe a little tonka and parchment underneath. It's some strong stuff, but pleasant for what it is. Still smells a bit masculine, but at least more on the unisex side of masculine, I suppose? It smells like some sort of familiar cologne and still makes me think of an antique study, though the incense and tonka are coming through more than in the bottle. Approx. 1 Hour Later: The scent is still very cologne-ish, but I feel that it's just a tad lighter than before. It's mostly the incense and tonka with some musk underneath, probably from the leather note and maybe the parchment. Occasionally, the leather and rosewood move forward. ------ Out of all of the more masculine-leaning scents I've tried (this, Masquerade, and Tavern of Hell), I appreciate this one the most. This smells bookish in a warm, pleasant way to me. It leans a bit too masculine for me personally, but this could be great for someone looking for a more masculine scent that smells like some sort of classic old study room.

This one's a frimp from a Trading Post order. I have to admit that this one has my interest from the small amount of notes in it. I've had a liking towards blends with tea notes so far (Dorian and The Dormouse), so that also has me curious about it as well. In Bottle: Super floral. I smell all three notes, but especially the white tea and rose. Wet on Skin: There's something almost citrus-y about this scent on my skin. It's very green as well. I can't really catch distinct notes in it at the moment, but I think the carnation may be coming out as it settles. I'm faintly getting rose in the throw. Approx. 1 Hour Later: By this point, that citrus smell has almost entirely dissipated. While I feel that I can smell the other notes, this is mostly rose on me and I feel that's what other people would detect on me (not so much the other notes). Maybe my skin amps this rose note. ------ It's a pleasant enough fragrance, but I already have a perfume with rose in it and I'll probably get another as a Christmas present. This one doesn't offer me anything very new, but it's worth trying if you're a fan of rose and tea notes (if you like tea notes more than rose, I would suggest trying out an imp of The Dormouse, though it is still slightly floral with some peony and the scent can come off a tad soapy to some people). I personally didn't get much carnation in this (surprising, considering the other reviews), but it may be the timing of the month also interfering with the scent somewhat.

I tried out my imps of Chaotic and Good together, layered in that order. I already tested out both of them individually and did small reviews of them. Wet on Skin: That's an interesting smell. It's green and sweet. I feel like I'm catching more individual notes from Chaotic (like the wasabi and heliotrope) than I am from Good. It's a nice combo so far, though. Kind of clean and woodsy maybe? Approx. 2 and a Half Hours Later: While I can still detect a little wasabi, it's mostly musk and a tiny bit of sweetness (mostly sugar cane, I think) left. It's pleasant, but there's not a ton to it. ------ This smells pretty darn good, but it seems like it's canceling itself out relatively quickly. Still, I'm glad I like the smell of my alignment and, maybe when I add a race and/or class, the staying power will be a bit better. Maybe I can also try out layering in a scent locket. EDIT: Actually, I think I keep detecting this sugary throw every now and then, but I can't really describe it? It's been about a half hour since the review time itself. The perfume itself is seriously light on my skin, so I'm not sure if the throw is actually from it or not. I think it is from the Chaotic Good mixture, though. Uncanny.

The is a scent I was interested in (especially the name since I'm going to a masquerade ball next year). I ordered an imp out of that curiosity, not solidly sure of which notes would turn out the strongest. In Bottle: First impression is orange blossom and patchouli. Not half bad, but we'll see how it goes. Wet on Skin: I think the ambergris is coming out as well. The carnation must be very light. This is a bit more masculine than I was expecting, but it's certainly not unpleasant. Approx. 1 and a Half Hours Later: I think I should start off by pointing out that, while I was on a morning walk, I could detect a citrusy throw from this one; I just thought it was neat that I caught it in passing. Overall, I feel like it's the same: patchouli, ambergris, and orange blossom for sure and not sure I'm getting any carnation. ------ The whole thing smells like cologne to me. It's not unpleasant, but I'm not digging it on myself. I might try it again someday, but it's firmly in my personal no pile so far. Just not my style.

Golden vanilla and gilded musk, stargazer lily, white sandalwood, grey amber, elemi, orris root, ambergris and sea moss. Lyonesse was an imp that I ordered in my last BPAL order since it sounded so interesting (I really like vanilla smells). I had completely forgotten this had a stargazer lily note to it, but that has piqued my interest; I think stargazer lilies are cool, but they smell STRONG and I wouldn't be able to have any in the house whether I'm feeling cool with the scent or not since they're toxic to cats. There are several notes I've never smelled before, so I guess we'll see what I think and what familiar things I can parse out. In Bottle: I'm detecting a lot of things. In the bottle, this is sweet for sure. I think I'm getting vanilla, musk, stargazer lily, and maybe also the sea moss. I think, other than the sweetness, I could also describe this as floral and herbal. Wet on Skin: On my skin, I think I'm getting more of the stargazer lily. Maybe also some background musk? I feel like the notes are swirling around a bit, so this is coming off as a morpher to me. I kind of want to say the scent has become somewhat aquatic? Maybe that has to do with the sea moss. Like I wrote before, I don't know all of these notes. Approx. 2 Hours Later: I think this became vanilla and musk-centric, with other notes still lingering. The scent reminds me of one of the Crimson Peak atmo sprays (The Golden Hour) though I never had the chance to check out the perfume incarnation of that one. Admittedly, this isn't as powdery as the version of The Golden Hour I have. ------ I really like this first impression. It's not too sweet and the different notes have me puzzled in a good way. Trying this also makes me feel more confident that a stargazer lily note will not necessarily drown out everything else. I'll see how I like the imp as I continue to use it (in rotation with the others I have; I may need to pare down the selection later).

This is the second class I've gotten out of the RPG Series. Bard had been sold out at the time, so I tried Mage. This time, Bard was available, but only in the full size. I decided to risk that and used a wand cap to apply. In Bottle: I definitely smell the bay rum and honey in this one. Maybe the harp wood and whatever the brass note is supposed to be as well? Wet on Skin: The scent smells warmer on me, if that makes sense. I still smell the same notes, but with the musk coming out as well and I think the wood is amping. Getting a definite throw to this one, too, but that may be from using a wand cap on a full-sized bottle instead of using an imp. I like that it's not too boozy on me. Someone else mentioned that I smell like lilies. I can smell that now. It's something about the way the notes are mixing together on me. Approx. 1 Hour and a Half Later: I think I'm picking up that brass note again? There's something on me that smells a bit cold and metallic inside of all of those warmer notes. I don't hate it or anything, but I'm conflicted. I'm not sure I dig smelling somewhat like metal. It does seem to fade in and out. ------ It's not half bad, though it was a bit strong and I'm not loving the brass note. It might help to apply with a lighter hand next time. Like Chaotic and Good on their individual tests so far, I think this may be more balanced out once I trying layering it with other RPG Series perfumes (that is what they're for). I think I'll try some more individual imps I have from other stuff first (not sure yet), but I plan on trying a Chaotic Good mix before tossing Bard in the equation.

Chaotic was an imp that I got in a recent order and, thankfully, I got a matching Good frimp so that I could test out my alignment. I'm not layering them this time, but trying them on individually (Chaotic on my left wrist and Good on my right) so that I can make reviews of both. In Bottle: Sweet, sweet, sweet. Not in a bad way, mind you. That vanilla, white honey, and sugar cane smell a bit like cake to me, but in a more subtle, perfume-y way. Wet on Skin: The musk is coming out a little more, but it's still very sweet on me. I think the acacia is coming out, too, but acacia is the only note I'm unfamiliar with. Approx. 1 Hour Later: Still very much the same. Musky and sweet, but not entirely powdery. The vanilla and sugar makes me somewhat think of Dorian, though I think the sugared vanilla notes in that may have been a little different. ------ Overall, this is a pleasant scent. I'm stoked to try properly layering this with Chaotic since I feel the sweetness of this would be a nice compliment but also get cut into a bit of a lighter scent (it's not too heavy or anything, just very sweet). I'll probably try Bard by itself before trying to layer these two.

Chaotic was an imp that I got in a recent order and, thankfully, I got a matching Good frimp so that I could test out my alignment. I'm not layering them this time, but trying them on individually (Chaotic on my left wrist and Good on my right) so that I can make reviews of both. In Bottle: First off, I have to say I think this one will be a staining hazard. This fresh imp is darker than a fresh imp of Snake Oil (which shows up yellow on my very pale wrists in sunlight). Anyway, on to the smell here. I don't know most of the notes in this one, but I think I smell the heliotrope (maybe some rooibos) in particular and a small kick of wasabi. It's strong, but sweet. I'm intrigued by this. Wet on Skin: It's becoming a slightly woodsier and spicy scent on my skin. The sweetness is seriously getting pushed back. There's almost a pine-like scent to it, I think. It may be the mastic. Honestly, I'm digging chaotic. Approx. 1 Hour Later: The sweetness and pine scent have mostly faded out, leaving a spicy, musky, and green scent. ------ Overall, it's still interesting (and especially unisex out of the perfumes I've tried). After getting a proper smell of it, I think I'd especially like to try properly layering this with Good at some point. I think the sweetness of Good would balance this one out for me. I'm probably going to try Bard before I try them together.

This was a frimp I got and I was interested in the fact that I saw a comment comparing this scent to Thierry Mugler's Alien, which I also happen to have a sample of from earlier this year. I doubt that 51 is an intentional dupe or anything, but I decided to compare the two (put 51 on my right wrist and sprayed Alien on my left, so I can't tell you what Alien smells like in the bottle). In Bottle: I definitely smell the fruit notes listed. I can smell something behind it, probably the musk, flowers, and wood, but the fruits are what jump out at me. Wet on Skin: The fruit is lightening up. I think I'm especially catching some freesia, wood, and salt; maybe some desert scrub as well. I do smell some differences between the Alien sample and the 51 sample. Alien is a sharper scent, and I think not just because of the alcohol it presumably has, and the throw seems stronger, but it may be that the spray application put more on my skin. 51 one is a greener scent to me and the salt is a bit grounding. Something in Alien is smelling a bit Vaseline-esque to me, though someone else gave a sniff and doesn't personally detect that. Maybe it's the burning wood note in that perfume? I find 51 more pleasant. Approx. 1 Hour Later: I feel that the scent of this one is pretty darn consistent, compared to others I've tried out from BPAL. Maybe it's a bit lighter and muskier, but it still doesn't smell that much different to me. Alien was lightening up as well by this point. It still smells sharper to me (still mildly Vaseline-ish in there) than 51, but I can detect a similarity between them now. ------ I still wouldn't say with complete confidence that 51 makes a great dupe of Alien because of the more pronounced differences at the beginning, but it could be worth a shot with an imp. Just don't dive in expecting a near perfect match. This is a pretty good scent. I have others I think I would rather full bottle before this one, but it's a nice clean scent with fruit notes that aren't too overwhelming or candy-ish (though those notes do somewhat sink in the background) and an interesting woodsy saltiness. It's an intriguing perfume that smells like a pleasant desert.

This is the full-sized perfume I got in my last BPAL order; the rest was imps and frimps, including my favorite so far (Dorian). This is a perfume I've been really interested in, both from its description and because the number of bottles left is pretty low. In Bottle: This smells very perfume-y to me in the bottle. I feel like I'm getting the champagne musk, maybe the ambergris accord? Wet on Skin: Kind of the same, but with more rose. Maybe getting the rosewood in there as well. I feel like I can smell the notes shifting around, though I think I may also be amping up the rose note in this. The champagne musk (I think that's what's doing this) tickles my nose a bit. The champagne and rose genuinely seem to alternate in which note is the strongest, though I will say that I feel like I'm getting a tad more vanilla on my left wrist than my right. I can smell the throw on this one more keenly than some of the other perfumes I've tested. Approx. 2 Hours Later: Still going on strong. I'm getting a tad more vanilla, I think. Pretty much all of the notes seem at the same level. It took until this very moment for that to happen and I think it smells a tad bit soapy, but still perfume-y. ------ The notes are pretty darn interesting in there, but I'm not a huge fan of them evening out the way they do at the end of the review period. An opinion I asked for closer to the hour mark was that this stuff is really strong, but I'll admit that was a wrist check and you're probably not usually going to hold up a wrist and be like "Hey. Smell this." It was worth trying, I think, but Dorian is still definitely the scent that's best caught my interest at this point. Maybe I'll have more luck with Between Your Heart and Mine when it comes to the Crimson Peak scents (someone bought a bottle for me for Christmas, meaning it's going to be a while yet until I can review it).

Whoo! Got a frimp of Dorian in my latest BPAL order (full-size of The Waltz, imp of Mage, frimps of Dorian and 51). This is one I've been curious of for a while since it's so beloved, sounds really good in the description, and was recommended to me in the forum thread for recs based on personality. In Bottle: This one smells like some vanilla verbena lotion I have, but with some tea and a little more of a citrusy bite to it. I really like it. Wet on Skin: There's a little bit of a cologne-ish slant to it now (probably the musks or overall fougere) that it's on my skin and the citrus seems to have disappeared. There's a little more cream in the vanilla, too. It still smells nice to me and it's still sweet. Approx. 1 Hour Later: I'm not sure if this is exactly morphing, but some of the scents have been switching to the forefront. Sometimes it's the musk and maybe some lavender, while it's the vanilla cream at other times. I think there's something in the musk/lavender phase that's supposed to represent Dorian's "rotten core" and I'm not as big of a fan of when that's in the forefront. ------ Overall, I think this perfume has been one of my favorites. It's sweet, but tempered with that slight cologne slant I mentioned and, despite that vanilla cream scent, I don't find it too foody. It's very unisex, in my opinion. The tea isn't that strong on me (I feel that was more detectable in The Dormouse), but it's still hidden in there. While I'm not 100% absolutely in love with it, I think I'll be cozying up a lot to this sample. It's not too heavy on me like some of the frimps I've tried and I'm properly getting the vanilla from it, unlike with the Snake Oil sample (which I still plan on trying again once it's settled a month or so from the first test). I really want to try the hair gloss of this now, as well as The Serpentine perfume!

This is my first imp for the RPG Series. Technically, I was most interested in Bard, class-wise, but that one was out of stock (as well as Good, part of my alignment of choice), but Mage sounds nice and I was still curious enough to purchase the imp. In Bottle: I'm not sure how to describe this one. Woodsy and resinous? Wet on Skin: Kind of the same, but it seems like it's becoming just slightly sweeter. It's a very incense-y sort of smell, but that makes sense for a mage scent. Approx. 2 Hours Later: It's a lot lighter by this point, but still incense-y. I think there's some mild nuttiness that had come out at some point as well, but I think that's the way one of the oils reacts to my skin. ------ It's not half bad. I'd like it better without that nuttiness to it. I'm really curious over how this one will layer with other RPG Series scents. At a later point, I'd really enjoy getting some other samples from the line, though half of the ones I want are out of stock for the time being.

This was my last frimp to test out from my first BPAL order. I kind of put it off since I was expecting cigar smoke and stuff like that. Fortunately, the notes list and reviews made me feel more at ease about testing this one out. In Bottle: It's boozy and a little sweet in sort of a cologne way, I think. Wet on Skin: Still very cologne, but less boozy, I feel. I think I can smell the gardenias in here, as well as some other things I can't pin down (maybe the tobacco flower and other things; I don't know what tobacco flowers or absinthe smell like). Approx. 2 Hours Later: I got to this later than usual since I went on a walk and light jog. It's lightened up by now, but it did have a point where it seemed heavy on the whiskey and maybe some of the ebony wood. Maybe I'm getting a hint of the orange blossom as well by thus point. ------ Despite its title, this one isn't very fire and brimstone, but that's a bit relieving to me. Even so, it's still not my style, personally. If you like something a bit heavy and more on the masculine side, boozy but with a little sweetness, then I would recommend giving it a shot. Then again, most of the reviews sound different than mine?

Eden is a frimp I recently got in my first BPAL order and is one of the last I need to review (only Tavern of Hell left after this). Wasn't sure what to think of this one with the notes it has. In Bottle: I can smell the toasted coconut hardcore. Maybe also the honeyed almond milk and fig? Not sure how I feel about it. It smells like a bit much in the bottle. Wet on Skin: I think the fig and sandalwood are coming forward more. It's sort of a fruity and woodsy/musky scent when it's had a moment to settle on my skin. I still smell a little of that nuttiness from the almond, I think. I feel the sandalwood is starting to take center stage for me, but there's still some sweetness in there (maybe the honey and/or fig). This might be a morpher. I feel like notes occasionally swap intensity. Approx. 1 Hour Later: By this point, everything's sort of evened out and softened. I feel like I can catch most of the notes, but it all comes together a bit potpourri-ish. I feel like it may turn out quick-fading as well. ------ Another one that's not my style, unfortunately. I have the feeling Tavern of Hell is going to be less likely of a hit, from purely a notes standpoint, but maybe I'm jinxing myself and it will be great. I think my favorite so far of all of the imps and frimps I've gotten to try is The Dormouse; its been growing on me.
-
The reputation for this one had me jumping on an imp purchase during my first BPAL order (also got a full-sized Nasty Woman, imp of Morocco, and some frimps). Technically, this was the one I was most looking forward to out of the imps/frimps I received. I didn't try this earlier since the dark color had me worried it would be skin-staining and I try things on after work (since perfume isn't allowed in my workplace and it's a rule I follow since it's important). It didn't stain my skin anyway, but probably will when it ages. In Bottle: I'd say... vanilla, cinnamon, and clove? I'm definitely interested. Wet on Skin: I feel that something resinous is coming out with contact on my skin and that somewhat amps the clove as well, to my nose. For a moment, it almost smelled cigarette-esque (HUGE turn-off if it stayed that way; I hate the smell of cigarettes), but the clove seems to have quickly lightened up and I think I smell more cinnamon? I'd say the smell is pleasant... maybe handsome? Approx. 1 Hour Later: I can see where some people get the impression of Play-Doh from this one, but that's not exactly what I'm getting here. Definitely still smell cinnamon and clove, but there's something else. It's like a mintiness, but more warm than sharp/cool? It smells a bit familiar, but I can't figure out what it reminds me of. There's a small sugary tinge as well. In a way, it sort of reminds me of those chalky heart-shaped candies sold around Valentine's Day. ------ It's not bad, but I'd be lying if I said it lived up to my expectations. I was hoping for a warm and smooth vanilla with a nice peppering of spices, but this is sort of medicinal in a way I can't put my finger on. I'll try setting aside the imp to age and hopefully test again some other time since a lot of people hold out hope and get rewarded on this one. EDIT: Scratch the no staining thing. In sunlight, I have slight yellow stains to my wrists. I'll have to put it in a more subtle spot for actual wear. I also almost forgot to mention that animals seem to like it on me more than people do. A kitten in the house liked pressing her nose against my wrist and sniffling. I also got chased around by a bee outside during a walk and I think a butterfly tailed me for a bit. When I told a friend, she jokingly asked if I was wearing a Snow White perfume.

This was one of the frimps I got from my first Trading Post order (and the only frimp of the bunch that wasn't a Mad Tea Party perfume). I tend to be a bit wary of heavy florals, but I was willing to give it a shot. In Bottle: It sort of smells like soap and violets, I think. At least, I think those are violets; it smells like dirt and green, in a way. Wet on Skin: I'm getting the gardenia (definitely) and ylang-ylang in there, I think. The sandalwood is getting less soapy as well. It's becoming very floral, but that sandalwood grounds it. Approx. 1 Hour Later: It's lightened up a bit, but still fairly strong floral with sandalwood. ------ Like the others that haven't been my cup of tea, it's inoffensive enough to me that I can still wear it. It's just not exactly my style, but it can be very promising if you enjoy strong (especially white) florals and/or sandalwood. At the very least, the gardenia doesn't overpower the whole thing (something I was curious of since that's a strong-scented flower). I got a comment that it smells like "an old lady perfume" when asking for an opinion, so that didn't help it.
-
This was an imp I bought in my first BPAL order (along with a Snake Oil imp, plus the frimps Eden and Tavern of Hell, full bottle of Nasty Woman). Technically, I got it for a relative, but I also tried it for the sake of this review. In Bottle: The first time I sniffed it, I swear it almost smelled like vanilla extract to me. This sniff was spices and carnation blended together, sort of sweet. Wet on Skin: It still smells like spices and carnations to me. It's more creamy because of the floral in it than super spicy or anything; it smells very even and a little sweet. Strangely enough, my relative tried it previously and got more of a powdery smell out of it than I did. Body chemistry, I suppose, which makes me worry that the carnation note is what did that on her (carnation is her fave flower). Approx. 1 Hour Later: I feel the sent has mellowed slightly. It's always had a tinge of powder or marshmallow to me, just a bit admittedly (but not as much as the relative that tried it), and it seems a little more prevalent now. ------ This is another scent I find alright, but I don't think it's entirely my thing. If you like something with carnations that can come with a powdery vibe, this may be something to look into.
-
This was a frimp I got in a Trading Post order (two frimps had been Mad Tea Party scents; this one and The Dormouse, which I've also reviewed). In Bottle: Sweetened berries, definitely. It smells like blueberry syrup, almost; it must be those blackcurrants and they have a heaviness to them. There's almost a nuttiness as well, which I suppose is approximation for the pastry bit of the tart smell. Wet on Skin: The nuttiness has lightened. I can smell the crushed roses now as well. The floral note gives it a different sweetness now; less syrup-y up close, though I feel it's still a tad like that syrup-y vibe at a distance. The berry is pretty strong. Approx. 1 Hour Later: It smells mostly the same, but muskier. It's not unpleasant or anything. Maybe I'm also getting the smallest hint of a buttery side? Not much, though. I feel like the scent occasionally morphs, so it can be slightly difficult for me to pin down. ------ Overall, it's a nice scent, but I'm not sure it's me. I don't think I'm the heavy berry type and I'm not even really sure I'm the foody type, either. Maybe the timing is a bit off for testing this, so I may try it again at a later time to see what I think. This isn't bad or anything, so I'll probably use the rest of it.
-
This review isn't going to be nearly as thorough as my perfume reviews so far (not that those are super in-depth, but the format is different in that I'll just describe the scents I'm detecting). The first thing I get is a sugary vanilla cream sort of smell as well as amber and a powdery finish. I find it warm and comforting, so I sprayed it around my pillows before going to bed. There's something else in there as well; presumably it's the frankincense everyone is mentioning. I probably won't go too wild with the spritzing since I feel the sweet and powdery aspects could overwhelm me slightly by becoming too heavy, but I do enjoy the scent for relaxing.

I got this perfume as a frimp in a Trading Post order I very recently received (I got two Mad Tea Party frimps; The Dormouse and The Knave of Hearts). I was especially interested to test this one since it was a recommendation from someone in the forum based on my personality. In Bottle: It smells citrus-y, with tea in it. Maybe there's some lemongrass or lemon verbena among the herbs? I'll admit, I'm not sure what peonies smell like, but I think the citrus smell was somewhat overpowering any floral. Wet on Skin: I think my skin is amping at least some of the teas. It also smells floral, which I assume is the peony, and much less citrus. I feel like I'm catching some herbs other than whatever that citrus smell was, but I'm uncertain of what kind. It's a pleasant scent. Very fresh and a bit light. Approx. 1 Hour Later: I think the scent is a little sweeter now. It seems the peony and/or some herbs came a little further to the forefront (I'm thinking the peony in particular), though the tea is still definitely detectable. I'm not getting much of a citrus smell anymore and I feel that one of the herbs may be very faint mint. The scent overall is less "light" at this stage in my opinion, but I don't mean it as a negative. ------ I feel this scent won't last as long as, say, an earthier sort, but it's a nice scent if what you're looking for is fresh. Nice tea and green scents. Looking at the other reviews here, I'm a bit relieved it didn't turn to soap on me, at least on this first test of it. I haven't decided if I'll get a full bottle at some point, but I do know someone else is acquiring another imp for me (I didn't see the frimp coming), so I'll happily use up what I'll have. Besides, I'm curious about some other tea scents as well (namely Dorian).

Whoo! My first BPAL perfume and review. It's interesting to see everyone's different impressions on a scent, so here's my own. In Bottle: It smells incense-y and earthy, as well as a bit sweet like a mild version of molasses, to me. I'm not very good at picking out the notes, but I feel that it's mainly the patchouli coming through out of scents I recognize, maybe the bourbon as well. It's a little bit heavy, but not in a way that concerns me. Wet on Skin: I feel that the fig and amber are getting stronger in contact with my skin. The scent is a little sweeter and maybe a bit... crystalline, if that makes sense? Maybe a tad spicier or it could be that sweetness mixing with the earthy notes. The bourbon vanilla seems to be coming out more as well, though not as much as those other notes I mentioned. Approx. 1 Hour Later: Very earthy and musky in a not unpleasant way, which I think is still the amber oud. It's a warm smell and I can get small hints of the other notes in there, like the fig. Like I said, I'm not great at picking out scents and I'm not sure I'm describing it in perfect terms, but it's definitely predominately earthy on me. ------ I feel like the scent went a little sweeter, more fig and vanilla notes, on the cap (I replaced the regular cap for a wand cap) while I think my skin may have amped up other notes, making it smell more woodsy. Someone mentioned in their review on the perfume's page that this could be very salt of the Earth and I certainly feel salt of the Earth wearing this. Funnily enough, what I think of when I smell this perfume is the salt mine I visited over in Salzburg, Austria. The scent doesn't literally remind me of the salt itself, but I think this smell reminds me of the warm golden colors of the salt found there, warm and earthy. It reminds me slightly of stone, but not in a cold or harsh way. I wish the fig and vanilla could have been a little stronger on me, but I find the scent still pleasant and a bit comforting. I'm interested to see how this bottle may evolve as it ages. Now that I think about it, certain timing of the month may make this a little different than usual, so I guess I'll see if that changes anything as well.

Yup! I broke down and got an atmosphere spray of The Golden Hour after I found a review describing what it essentially smells like since that's a limited edition. It does sound really nice and I'll try to make a review somewhere about it once I have and try it. c:

Whoa! That's a lot of cool suggestions, celestia. Thanks! Everyone's given me so many cool ones. I hope that I happen to get some as free imps in my first purchase or I might have to snag them myself.

Thanks, Scarlet Woodland and roseus! I appreciate the suggestions and all of them sound AWESOME. c: Hopefully, some of the free imps that I get may include some of these. If not, I'll probably get some at a slightly later date.

This sounds like a fun way to get some recommendations! I'm a newbie here and the amount of scents in the BPAL catalogue are STAGGERING. I'm 28 and was born in Texas, but spent most of my childhood in Louisiana, then moved back to Texas. I'm pretty darn introverted sometimes, unless I have shared interests with someone. Admittedly, I tend not to talk much when focusing on work (or if I feel that I don't have anything interesting to contribute), so I think some people find me standoff-ish? I'm really not, though, and I'm positively chatty around my friends. I also have an issue with people noticing me; sometimes I'll be right near someone and they'll hardly even notice (which has lead to someone jokingly calling me a ninja). I also tend to be anxious and maybe a tad depressive and I feel like this whole section has practically been a self-burn. I really love reading, musicals, listening to music (mostly soundtracks of different sorts, but also whatever sounds good to me), playing videogames, reading indie comics, watching movies and tv shows (I tend to like action, fantasy, and horror/thrillers, as well as seeing older films and shows that are classic and/or campy), animation in general, and chilling inside while it's raining, maybe with some tea. My favorite season is probably fall since it's not too chilly and I enjoy Halloween, but I also happen to like the vibe in winter when things get Christmas-y. I really need to get back into drawing and painting as well, since I enjoy those things but I never feel like I have the time. I also sometimes get a bit crafty and my next project is going to be a mask I'll wear to a masquerade ball. While I wouldn't say I'm entirely into schmaltz all the time, I can be a bit of an idealist and romantic (even if I tend to get down on myself). I tend to like either warm or light/fresh scents in particular, I'd say. Also, I wouldn't mind something more on the adult side. It doesn't have to be either "sexy" or "granny", but my slant in that direction is mostly since I'm 5' tall and I look younger than I am (which is nice, but I don't have a particularly adult fashion sense; I like cute things and I tend to wear fandom merch t-shirts). Some nos for me off the top of my head would be tobacco smells, since I worry I'd think of cigarettes and I dislike that smell for various reasons, bubblegum, since it's not my thing, and wet dirt smells, since stuff like that feels a bit stifling to me (we have super humid summers and it's THE WORST). I haven't gotten to try any BPAL scents yet, but I have ordered Nasty Woman (out of a petty dislike of Trump and it does sound promising, scent-wise) and a sample of Snake Oil since I like vanilla and spicy scents and I've seen some pretty rave reviews about it. If anyone has any ideas from that, then I'd love to hear them! c:
