    The Apothecary

This one was a surprise for me. It's very different from the scents I normally go for, but it's quite nice - sharp without being overwhelmingly green. And it lasts surprisingly well. Definitely a keeper.

    Carnal

I'm not entirely sure where they got carnal from this, but that's fine. It's a nice scent, though: like a Body Shop satsuma with something almost vanilla-like underneath. It makes me happy.

    Absinthe

Whoa, licorice. Which I like, but I'm sure would cause many other people to run screaming from me. Licorice is definitely one of those things that people either love or hate. Luckily by the time I left the house the anise had faded, and other things had come through, namely the cardamom and something green, possibly the wormwood and hyssop. In conclusion, I like it, but it doesn't have much staying power

    Vice

Going on, this smells exactly like chocolate covered cherries. It's a little too much for me - I was hoping for more chocolate and less cherry, because I'm not a huge fan of cherry. It dries down into something with a little more depth, but the cherry is still overpowering. Not for me.

    March Hare

When I first put this on, it smells exactly like apricot jam. Which, ok, I can see why that might be too much for some people, but I like to smell like food, so it's all good. It gets better, though, as it dries, and the warm, spicy clove comes through. Now it's sweet and spicy, and I'm very much enjoying it. Especially nice for autumn.

    Lampades

Absolutely brilliant. Juicy cranberry - and by now I know that I'm a complete sucker for berry scents - with an underlying hint of Queen of Sheba-esque spices and something darkly warm (the musk?). And the floral isn't overwhelming at all. Love it so very much. When I first put it on, I was so excited I started jumping around the room, that's how much I love it.

    Bewitched

What I wrote after the first wearing: This goes on sweetly berry and ends sweetly berry, but it has a wonky flowery perfume in the middle. So far, I haven't gotten much of the sage or tea, but I think I need to try it again and see what develops. After wearing it a few more times, I'm quite liking it. It's not one of my favourites, but I do like the undertones that come up from beneath the standard berry. And it's definitely settled down - no more flowery bits.

    Akuma

It smells like a drunken orange. Yum. Very sweet at first (although not candy sweet - there's definitely a bite), but eventually it mellowed out to something fruity and tart. Very enjoyable.

    Akuma

Mmm, yum. This scent is as wonderful as I'd hoped it would be. To me it smells like drunken oranges - not candy sweet, but rich and fruity. Lovely.

    Cinnamon girl...

I'm very fond of Three Witches. It's almost straight cinnamon on me, although others have said they can smell the clove. It's the only cinnamon scent I've tried so far, though.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Three Witches occasionally burns slightly in the crook of my elbow, but not on my wrists or chest. I think it's because the skin is thinner there. You might want to stick to more "outer" skin, or, like others have suggested, dilute with body lotion.

    Puck

The eight people at my place while we were trying the samples were unanimous in their dislike of this. As one of them said, "it smells like dog shit hiding in the grass of the park after a rain." It's probably one of those scents that gets better after the initial shock, but none of us were willing to try it. It's too bad, because the description sounds wonderful.

    Three Witches

Mmmmm. Warm spicy cinnamon. I can't really smell the cloves at all, but I'm sure they're adding to the overall enjoyment. I'm very much in love with this scent, and it sticks with me all day, even after a trip to the gym. Interestingly, a friend tried it, and on her it was entirely cloves. I was a little jealous. Hee.

    Banshee

I have never met a more schizophrenic scent. It changed hourly while I was wearing it! In the bottle, there was a definite floor cleaner smell, probably coming from the eucalyptus, but that did die down, and for a while I was enjoying the refreshing *GREEN* smell. Then that mutated to baby powder, and by the end of the day I smelled exactly like a candy necklace. I think I'll be passing this on to someone else.

    Baobhan Sith

First smell: Grapefruit, tangy and kicky. Oh baby. On wearing: The grapefruit fades quickly, leaving behind a nice apple smell, a little tart, and maybe a touch of the tea. I never did get any ginger, sadly. Verdict: Although this didn't end up being what I thought it was going to be (I was drawn to the ginger and grapefruit, I got apple and tea), it's a lovely light scent, very happy and nice for summer. If I find the energy, I might try to add this to a body lotion to see if I can get it to stay around for longer.

    Queen of Sheba

This was a free sample, and I almost passed it by because of the blazing spice that wafted out when I opened the imp, but luckily I remembered the description, and decided to give it a try. On the skin, the spices mellow out and the almond peeks through, resulting in something that is reminiscent of incense, without being overpowering. It's probably not something I would wear on a regular basis, but it's the perfect bellydance scent, and when I wear it I get inspired. ADDED Oct. 21: I reviewed this a few months ago, but I just want to encourage people to look (smell?) past the overpowering scent in the bottle -- on me, it takes about 10 minutes of wearing before it settles down, but once it does, it's consistently warm and spicy, with just a touch of honey underneath, and very long-lasting. It's become one of my favourite scents, even though it's really not the kind of thing I traditionally go for.

    Bordello

I think Bordello might be my favourite out of the batch I just ordered. Rich and fruity, without being too sweet (unlike some of the other berry scents), it has a complex layering of flavours anchored by the wine at the bottom. It has excellent staying power, too, and doesn't change much during the day, which is a bonus. When I wear it, I feel languid, decadent and playful. Awesome.

    Envy

I loved the scent of this in the vial - bright and piercing, and so much mint. Mmmm. On me, the initial green mint really worked. Sadly, the mint faded fairly quickly, although the fresh green that was left was also lovely. Unfortunately, in the long run this just didn't work - it eventually faded into something more like a powdery candy smell. The second time I wore it, there was no consistency, but some of the moments were wonderful, so I think I'll give it one more try before giving up.

    Gluttony

This scent gets better on me each time I wear it. I was a little disappointed at first, because I didn't get any chocolate from it - just the caramelly, nutty praline smell. And in fact, at first sniff the nuts were overpowering. Like others have said, it can be a little overwhelming, and 'bloated' is definitely a good word - and if you don't want to smell like food, this is not the scent for you. But I love what it does on my skin; it's definitely one of my favourites so far (and not just mine - the Token Boy at our perfume party actually fell on the floor after smelling this, and then made his girlfriend promise to order it). And I don't miss the chocolate, because that just means I can get one of the other chocolate scents without feeling like I'm duplicating myself!

    O

This was a huge disappointment for me. It was the first scent I chose, and the first I tried from my order - I was attracted to the honey and vanilla, and had heard amazing things from people. Unfortunately on me it smelled just like baby powder from start to finish. I think it might be the amber. What a shame.
