An I really should just give up and stop ordering things with roses in them... I don't know whther it's the earth smell or the roses that I don't get along with (I suspect the rose), but Burial, Omen and Zombi were really not for me. Burial smelled too fungal with sickly roses to me -sorry!
-
O boy. Definately not my thing. The earth and the roses just stand out immediately, and I dislike roses with a vengeance (yes, even BPAl roses. If I even catch a faint hint of a rose (whether real or imaginary) I'm just not able to like a perfume )

This smells so sweet and candy-like to me. There are undercurrants that make it slightly more interesting. I smell like a lollypop!

First impression: very lavender. I was almost a bit dissapointed with its straightforwardness.. until I put it on. It's a very juicy lavender, without the fresh tang straightforward lavender has. And after a while the cinnamon comes out, but very gently. Fades incredibly fast though.

u huh, my thoughts exactly. <- this one just says it all, right?

I can smell a very distinct lemon note in this, but a bit bitter, like lemon peel. Smells a bit like pine, mint and salt too, very fresh.

The onrange stands out A LOT first, but calms down after a while and gets wrapped around in a beautiful deep, incense type smell. It's still there, but not as bright and bubbly. The phase between wet and dry is a bit...odd though. I'll just have to keep my wrists down for 15 minutes or so.

Luuurve this. When it's wet, it's minty but with a sinister edge around it. When it dries, it becomes more wood or mud smelling, but in a very good way. I couldn't pull off the earthen scents (like Burial, Zombi) but this is just the right amount mixed with a watery freshness.

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
Tesseljoan replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
There are several citrus single notes, like orange lemon and grapefruit. Yo ucould layer these to get the Back for breakfast-effect. Or you could use the search facility on the BPAL site, it comes up with a few scents containing citrus, but mixed with other notes. I'm not sure if that is what you prefer? -
Elizabeth listed this as a gender-neutral scent. It is indeed in between masculine and feminine. Fresh with a slight bite. Smells like storm to me.

The mint really jumps out at first indeed.. After a while it fades to the background a bit mre, and it turns into a green floral. I swear I can smell white flowers as well, or that could be just my nose? Very nice. After wearing: O My god. I now have this all over instead of a tiny spot on my wrist, and it's amazing. It is fresh, but not a bright fresh, it's far more bitter. As for the concept captured in a bottle -brilliant.

Weeheee! Well, I'm not exactly menstrual today, but I love the mood indicator anyway
-
Thanks for the hot waterbottle LLB! I really needed that yesterday
-
I love the new features, and by no means I want to criticize, but would it be possible to add 'menstrual' to the mood indicator?

Home early, because I can't take the strain.

I hope it all works out for you. Take baths. Long ones. -
This one didn't work with my chemistry. One of the florals turns incredibly loud and sharp on the drydown.
-
First sniff: this is EXACTLY like the drydown of Vixen When wearing: it still is very similar to Vixen (well, with my body chemistry anyway) but it's sharper (the smoke smell) and sweeter (vanilla) at the same time. Vixen turns very round on my body, Snake Oil is a bit more aggressive. I'm not too sure about it yet.

This is an absolutely beautiful sexy scent, with an edge of cinnamon to heat it up a little. But the best thing is that after 3 hours it had developed into a churchy, wood-y smell, as if you're in the church the day after, saying:'forgive me father for I have sinned..' Absolutely brilliant.

Very wet and juicy rose. This really is like a rose that you want to eat, because it is so sweet and... sugared? Very girly but not too much for my liking.

Have a lovely time. You deserve the break!

Purple. I loooooooooove purple. Thank you!

BPAL for headaches, pain, colds, seizures, sickness, illnesses...
Tesseljoan replied to Tesseljoan's topic in Recommendations
Thanks for the advice everyone! I seemed to be grabbing instinctively for the minty and ginger smells, ie. Snow white and Kumiho. Luckily the scent association didn't stick in my head (but the scent of beer still makes me queesy for some reason, so I'll stick to whiskey) -
*Tessel makes a print of the new scents, makes a cup of tea and schnuggles away for a good read*

This one is a perfect example to me that you shouldn't sniff these perfumes from the bottle, but they really need to be worn on the skin. From the bottle it smelled way to sharp and patchouli-ish to me, but on my skin it mellows out beautifully. A very warm, almost sweet scent. I can detect a hint of vanilla, but that's probably just my nose! Sexy.

This is a difficult one. I have a strong memory of this scent from my early teenage years, I think it was tar soap what I used back then and this smells of it. Strongly. BUT: I can also smell the concept Elizabeth has been trying to capture. There is a strong, sharp top/starting note, which smells exactly like the slap of leather would (it's not just leather). And it smells a bit, well, painful, and I'm not sure whether to love or hate it (probably a bit of both). Then a softer, warmer smell comes out, while the 'pain' smell goes a bit softer. Sometimes I could hardly smell it, and then suddenly I could get the strong, leather-y smell again, as if the places where the whip has hit you become sore again. It's a very heavy scent. I can't beleive how well the concept has been captured in a blend, and eventhough it's not a favourite because of the tar soap association and the sharpness, it's a stunning piece of work.
