Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)

Like others have noted, this is close to the skin sexiness. The patch is mellow, and the honey is soft with a whisper of oudh and goat's milk. It's gorgeous and I'm sure will be quite the stunner as it ages. Love!

Blood and Judgment So Well Commeddled

This is the softest of leathers, a whisper of vanilla and almond. The wet phase smells like leather treatment, and quickly dries to a faint throw perfume on me. Sadness!!! It's really a beautiful scent, but it's practically non existent on me.
  3. cvelis

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

yea, there aren't a ton similar, at least in my quest. Check out Bordello, Hanging Gardens, Soul of La Traviata, and maybe others. Good luck!
  4. cvelis

    Pure Applesauce

I'm pretty sure that apples and I aren't meant to be together. No matter what apple forward scent I try, it ends up being way TOO BRIGHT and LOUD. But, the scent is beautiful... it's green with some tea for me. Sending on the decant to someone that can love it.
  5. This is where I'll put all the in-thread questions to keep things easy for my witch to find! Also, where I'll put my wishlist links so they'll also be easy to find along with inspiration/social networks. Etsy BPAL Wishlist Pinterest 9/17/15 Pumpkin? love it, but not too sugary in food items. Not big on over decorating with pumpkins, and prefer things that are gray (like weathered vs. brand new orange). Booze? Not a big drinker. Will normally drink like a Paloma (great tequila, grape fruit juice, soda water), and if it's cold a Hot Toddy with lots of lemon and honey. Want anything from Yellowstone? Be it postcards, key chains, shot glasses, pint glasses, or huckleberry what have you? If you're there, sure! An old timey postcard would do! 9/18/15 I know there is a question about "decorating style", but if you're comfortable, could you should us some photos of your spaces? For those of us who like to art and craft, it can be nice to have a visual sense of decorating style! Just go here 9/19/15 Penny Dreadful? Love it! Tell me about your coffee and tea preferences! Do you prefer one, the other, both, or neither (and if it's neither, what about things like hot cider and cocoa)? Loose leaf or bags, whole bean or ground? Is caffeine OK? Any gadgetry you're in need of? Any brands or flavors that you particularly love, loathe, or want to try? I love loose tea, as well as bagged. My absolute fave is Lapsang Souchong, or any black smokey tea. Dark and smokey is my style. I don't like green tea or overly fruity tea. Flavored is ok, as long as it's still more black than fruity. Oh and I love herbal tea, but nothing with licorice. Gadgets wise, I like bags for loose tea, or mesh like spoons. Love coffee too, and prefer Stumptown, Peets or Water Ave. Sense of Humor? Dry, sense of humor with sarcasm thrown in. I also love laughing at stupid stuff. One of my fave movies to laugh at is Knocked Up. Hilarious stuff. Board Games? I'm a puzzle girl more than anything. Although I would like to learn how to play Mahjong, I even own a set! Just don't have anything to learn with. Is there anything that you specifically do NOT want to receive? Makeup. Scarves, gloves, or hats. Don't spend $$ or too much time on making things. Take it easy! Plain or fun socks? Fun socks FTW!! I knit funky socks, and love buying funky socks, like these unicorn ones! Name one (or as many as you would like) thing you would like to learn more about? Tarot! I know nothing but oh so curious! Cards in general are intriguing, the whole pull a card, read and interpret. I'd like to know a bit about the history, general meanings, use, and interesting ways to incorporate into life. What one thing you would like to do more of? Meditation! Since I adopted a new puppy, my meditation practice has gone down the toilet. What are some things that fascinate you? Fascinate: Vintage paper ephemera, vintage children's books, Japanese pop culture. For example, I'm always drawn to postcards (especially Japanese culture and Native American), weird children's books, and then newer Hello Kitty collaboration things. But when it comes to nature, I'm fascinated by the skies, small flowered plants (like alpines), and the wonderful planets. Reading/Learning about: Reading dystopian novels such as Station Eleven, Hunger Games as well as fantasy. 9/20: Would you like any cookie butter (just to be clear, store-bought, not home-made, and does contain wheat since it's, y'know, cookie butter)? never heard of it, sure! Is there any particular piece (or pieces) of art (painting, photograph, etc) that speaks to you in some way? I'm a Japanese prints junkie (old stuff, like this. Salvador Dali's The Invisible Man, and black and white photography of Man Ray. Do you want to receive knit or crocheted items? If so, could you describe or even link to a couple of items similar to what you would like to receive? I'd be happy to receive fingerless gloves, silly creatures, washcloth. What kinds of things would you like from the Lilith BPAL or BPTP update (or are you joining a decant circle?) I just joined a decant circle, and like always I'll update my BPAL wishlist if something is a total win! 9/21/15 Would you like anything from Lush? Shower bars, bubble bars and bath bombs would be amazing. I'm pretty easy with scents. Do you prefer hand-made or store-bought? Either! I have a strong love for handmade, and just as much respect for well made store items. In general, I'm pro-indie maker. :-) SPICY! Scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" and 10 being "ghost pepper? scorpion pepper? I laugh at these! I love as much heat as you can throw my way!" Where are you? 6-7. I love hot sauce and hot/spicy items but mainly in Indian food. 9/22/15 What scents from other perfume companies are you really wanting to have in your collection and or are just really wanting to test? Nope! I'm dedicated to BPAL world only. Makes it much easier to manage the wallet, and honestly I just can't keep up with all of the other makers. I do, however, appreciate Lush bath and body items (just nothing perfume oriented). Do you have an affinity for any specific animals? All of the baby ones! I'm also a recent puppy owner, so he's for the most part the only thing in my life :-) Kitchen Needs or Wants: Do you need (or want) anything for your kitchen, either in the way of simple gadgets, supplies you always run out of, or never remember to get, kitchen decor (functional or purely decorative), or dry goods like special spices or spice blends? Spice blends are always fun, and spice rubs too. We do tons of grilling veggies and meat, plus we cook a ton at home. We eat Thai, Vietnamese, BBQ, Japanese, Italian, you name it. We don't judge much in this arena. 9/23/15 Makeup! Do you like it, would you want some? If so what brands do you like to wear? Yes, I like it. I'm a MAC girl with some use of Make Up For Ever, but honestly, I don't wear a ton of makeup and I'm pretty picky on what I wear. But I do like MAC's Lipglass in Desire. :-) Chocolate fiends ahoy! What kind of chocolate do you like? Do you like any other things in it or just plain good ole chocolate? Dark chocolate with almonds and sea salt. Someone mentioned above about chocolate vendor preferences, and I would say I'm the same. I prefer more artisanal then say something like Hershey's. Would you be opposed to receiving a ton of Halloween themed items? Not at all! "Special little thing" from the Great Lakes Bat Festival? So adorable! I loved the decal and tote. What items from the Weenie update interest you, should you have to option of getting anything as a gift from your Witch??? Would you be ok with decants, or bottles? Oh boy!! that update was insane! I'm thinking decants of: Dia de los Muertos, Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake, Second Spring, A Phantasmagoria: Scene, A Young Woman Appealing to a Witch, Liebeszauber, The Magic Circle, The Sorceress, The Witch and the Mandrake, The Witches’ Rout (the Carcass), The Witches’ Sabbath, Witches’ Kitchen, La Femme de Satan, Satan Summoning His Legions possible bottles: The Witches, Départ Pour Le Sabbat I'm gonna update my BPAL wishlist with final decision as soon as BPTP goes live. What's your favorite scary movie? Or movies, either way. If you don't like horror, what are your favorite movies to watch this time of year? I used to love watching horror, but now find it to be too much. I much prefer psycho thrillers and tend to steer towards more indie stuff. One of my fave vampire movies is "Let The Right One In", along with "TrollHunter" but I do love Buffy, Coraline, Pan's Labyrinth among others. 9/24/15 Blu-ray or DVD? DVDs, but at this point I mainly stream from Netflix or Amazon. Game systems - console or computer? Mac/PC? Which console? None, sorry! I don't do games. Are you dressing up for Halloween and if so do you need any accessories for if? I don't normally do, but when I do, I have a huge stash of props :-) Talk to me about bags, what kinds do you like? Sizes and styles? I'm purse obsessed, and I'm not allowed any more! However, if it's a canvas bag with maybe a pocket for things, then I wouldn't turn it down dear Witch. Size wise, just big enough to fit a book, wallet and a knitting project. And I love silly canvas bags especially book, cat/animal, anime themed. What are your favorite fandoms and do you want to receive anything related to such? I'm not a fangirl of much. I'm a huge lover of Japanese culture, from paintings to origami paper. And yes, I have a tiny Hello Kitty collection but only because it was free. I'm much more interested in the obscure and lesser known aspects/things of Japanese culture. What are you planning to order from the Weenies update? See above The Last Huzzah of the NY Renaissance Faire happens this weekend and I'm going! Is there anything you might want? (Besides a turkey leg, which won't ship well!) No thanks, RennFaire has never really interested me. Do you like comics or graphic novels? Any issues or collections you want to read? Yes! Mainly graphic novels written by Japanese authors that have been translated. For example, Osamu Tezuka and his Buddha series. I also haven't read all of Sandman, essentially everything after Preludes and Nocturnes is on the "to read" list. Do you like fanfic? Would you like a story written for you as part of your gift? What characters/fandoms/pairings etc do you like? No thanks, I don't get into it. Where do you have wishlists at? If you could please link to them or to a post that links to them. (Amazon, Etsy, Think Geek, Pinterest, Sephora, Lush, BPAL/BPTP, Soap Box Company, everywhere and anywhere!) See very top for links. I will update with Amazon too. 9/25/15 Let's say you have indicated interest in receiving a hand knitted item. What colors, exactly, do you like? If you could provide color swatches here or to pinterest (or something visual), that would help out a lot. Ivory or burgundy/red Would you rather receive a bunch of little packages through the round, a couple of medium packages, or one big package at the end? Your choice! I'm easy and will be excited regardless :-) If/when you go to the mall, for which store(s) do you beeline? I don't go to the mall, as Portland has very few of them and instead seek out individual storefronts like Powell's books, Anthropologie, and sometimes Sephora. I'm also a sucker for TJ Maxx and Marshalls! Do you receive any subscription boxes (julep, lootcrate, ipsy, birchbox, etc.)? No I don't, best to stay away from that addiction. Would Witchees like something from IKEA? (Or any other not always accessible by everyone store?) I'm pretty lucky and have a huge range of stores in the area. My preference though is small biz which generally don't have large e-commerce presence, and Etsy folks. For those of us with out-of-country Witchees, would you be happy with receiving a few packages from local to you merchants (say, through Etsy or equivalent)? Absolutely! Do you like tarts/candles/incense? If so, what type of scents? Love them all, except I don't do tarts as much as I don't have a proper place to burn them. I love vanilla, exotic spices, sage, blackberry, green scents. Is there anything you wish you could have picked up from the Dragon*Con exclusives? Dragon With a Llama Mohawk hair gloss Is there a GC you've been dying to try but haven't got around to yet? RPG Elf The questionnaire asked about gold & silver jewelry, but how do you feel about copper jewelry? Do you like colorful jewelry, or do you prefer to keep it neutral? I love mixed metals jewelry, and also enjoy greenish copper. We asked about decorating style, but are you interested in receiving decorations for your home? Are you interested in things that go on the wall or things that go on shelves? No, thank you! My walls are packed with art and rock posters, and where I have shelves I have trinkets spilling over. Talk to me about socks! Is there anything, dear, dear Witchee, that I can get for you from Sock Dreams? Anything from another place? Already there was a question about Renn Faire, but Faire also has an abundance of wonderful socks! Tell me all your sock wishes! Love socks! ankle or closer to knee length, like these Or these I live near a huuuuge candy store. What kind of candy do you like? Gummies? Caramel? Chocolate? Sour? Sugar-free? Love gummies, caramel and chocolate. I'm a big fan of Cadbury Flake chococolate How do you feel about animal products? Not so much animal toys or food, but more like furs, paws, bones, etc. Doesn't bother me. I own two sheep pelts, wear leather, and would enjoy a cool skull or two. No furs besides wool pelts though. Are you interested in receiving any restaurant.com gift certificates for your area? No thanks, but thanks for asking! Office supplies Love them! I'm a sucker for Sakura gel pens or these, washi tape, strathmore visual journals, water crayons, and everything in between. 9/27/15 How do you feel about "toys" - stuffed animals and the like? Love funky softies from Rosa Pomar, and also these. 9/28/15 How do you feel about astrological events, like eclipses? Any interest in the Blood Moon Eclipse scent from BPAL? I would love to learn more about astrological events and especially with a Blood Moon Eclipse to keep it company. Thanks for asking! Height? I'm basically 5'5" and have ave length arms How do you feel about online classes? Like, say, craftsy or creativebug? Or even lynda.com? Sure, any of those sound interesting. How do you feel about the 4 elements? Or are you more of an Asian 5 elements person? Do you feel strongly about any of the elements, like a connection or a preference? I guess water for me, I don't follow the elements much but mainly because i don't know much about them. However, I would love to learn more! Zodiac symbol wise I'm a pig :-) How do you feel about bento boxes? Is it something you would use if you were to get one? I wouldn't use it although I do love the look of them!! I would likely store other things in it. Scarves, shawls or cowls? Mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts or wristlets? Fingerless mitts FTW! 9/29/15 What do we want from Paintbox Soapworks? Any of the soaps! They all look great If I were to make you some art, would you prefer a frame that hangs or one that sits? And what color/style would you prefer? How do you feel about gourmet marshmallows? Don't eat them Are you a slatherer or a dabber? Slatherer for sure! Talk to me, dear witchies, about tea. I know we've covered this a little, but I really need the nitty gritty here- not just companies you like and don't like (Teavana? Adagio? David's? Some tiny place?) but I also want to know the other stuff: top 3 flavors, loose or bagged, the kinds of tea accessories you use- or have always wanted. Be specific. Provide links if necessary. Loose tea is great! I'm in love with dark and smokey black tea (like lapsang souchong). Golden Monkey tea is also good. Is there anything from ThinkGeek that you want??? (especially in the geek points section, 2400 points or under?) No, thanks! I'm not into that sort of thing. 10/01 Villainess? Anything from the new release sounds wonderful! How does everyone feel about duct tape crafts? Any favorite patterns? I make a lot of bags for my DI kids every year, so I'm kind of an old hand. With zippers? I would love a small bag for my knitting notions. 10/02 Are there any flowers you especially like? Hhhmmm... Birds of paradise are super cool, as are orchids :-) Would you be interested in any cozies or cases (yarn o fabric, not hard cases) for tech stuff (phone, laptop' etc) or for cups/mugs/bottles or anything else similar. Would love one for my MacBook Air 13inch (2015 model). Or one for my coffee mug, nothing too big though. Would you like Halloween or Day of the Dead themed ornaments or a "bunting" ? Day of the Dead ornaments FTW! 10/3/15 Are there witchees who would like book related gifts like a booklight, bookmark, bookseat or something for your reading gadget, like a cover or a light for example. Love a booklight! Would my witchee be interested in handmade journals, mini albums and similar items? Absolutely! I would love a handmade journal, or anything that can be used for art journaling, collaging, and the sort. What songs/music/artists/CD's do you like to listen to around Halloween? Sadly, I don't have a fave. :-( Maybe I should change that? Are you interested in leg warmers at all? Totally. Makes me feel young again ;-) Is your Halloween style scary, cutesy, folksy, grotesque . . .? More folksy like Day of the Dead, or other cultures expression of Halloween themes. Never scary though. 10/5/15 To answer your question, a handknit and gorgeous Zuzu'sPetals would be welcomed in my home :-) I bought the Portal board game last week & it came with a Portal 2 steam free download code (for pc.) I already have the game on another console & it's one of my favorite series of all time. Soooo, would you want it? No thank you! 10/6/15 Have you read The Martian? Or do you plan on watching the movie? I haven't read the book, and may watch the movie post theaters when it's free on Netflix or Amazon :-) NaNo: Pertaining to that, how does everyone feel about such things? Will anyone be participating? How about NaNo swag, is there any you want? It's ok, I'm not big into this event... Beeswax or honey, or both? I love both and use honey with my tea. Beeswax products are also great, one of my fave lip balms is made from beeswax! 10/8 How do you feel about bumper stickers or car magnets? Never use them. I like to keep our windows free and clear :-) Phobias? None that I can really think of! I generally find phobias fascinating. Trading Post Weenies? I'm thinking of doing my first ever BPTP decant circle! If I do, it will be Death on a Pale Pumpkin decant, Pumpkin of Conquest decant, Dr Janice, Starlight and Seaspray. And if anything works, I'll add on the October polish. 10/9/15 Speaking of nail things, it that time of year and I am doing my jamberry order, Would you want some Lovely Jamberry's for your nails? No, thank you! Do you like or want to try Marmite? Probably not. Used nail polish & cosmetics? Used nail polish for sure! Not sure about regular cosmetics... maybe loose powder stuff? 10/10/15 Are there any DISCONTINUED (not LE) BPAL oils that you wish you had, or had a little more of? Oh gosh. It would have to be between Blood Countess and Fairy Market, or Fox Fires from the Salon. Is there anything fairly basic that you're always running out of and need to buy more of? Lip balms, love it year round! Blooddrop update No, thanks! I try to only support BPAL as that satisfies all of my perfume needs. How do you feel about foreign spices/flavorings? Love to try different salts and spices!

    Mlle. Lilith, Fortune Teller

I don't get the pomegranate, but definitely coconut and orange blossom. It's got a nice incense kick, laden with sugary goodness. Very pretty.
  7. cvelis

    Somnus

Unfortunately, all I got was diaper cream. If there's jasmine in this, then it would explain my reaction to it.
  8. cvelis

    Amicitia

A green mist rolling over soft summer sage fields with a hint of sweetness to keep the memories fresh. The throw is not huge, but definitely a comforting and meditative scent. One of my faves for sure! I've had this aging since I bought it last September from lab, and everything has deepened.
  9. My all time fave Snake is Australian Copperhead, it's fruity incensey goodness. I also second Cottonmouth, Banded Sea Snake, and Habu. You really can't go wrong with them. Crossing fingers for new scents!
  10. cvelis

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Hi ya! Here's some reco's for you: 51 - green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats. Hungry Ghost Moon - sweet rice, ginger candy, sugar cane, smoky vanilla and rice wine mingle with a ghost's perfume of white sandalwood, wisteria, ho wood, ti, white grapefruit, and crystalline musk. This scent is tempered by the presence of ten herbs, woods and resins used in the purification of the spirit.
  11. cvelis

Lilies & Lily of the Valley

Not sure if this helps but I did get a waxy/creamy lily sort of scent from Ghost Houses (Lilith 2014).
  12. cvelis

Sage scents - White, Clary, and others

bumping this up as we've been granted with more sage lovelies! Visions of Autumn VI - Oakmoss, lavender absolute, petitgrain, rockrose, white patchouli, and sage. Pumpkin V - Pumpkins, pumpkin vines, and wild mushrooms with white sage, cade, sweetgrass, and vanilla-infused rosewood. Amicitia - white sage and chaparral with sweet cedar, caramelized honey, warm fig, and carnation blossoms. NOCHE BUENA (an older lovely) - A celebration of the Nativity: the light, uplifting incense of the Misa de Noche Buena, purple sage, and a vibrant bouquet of plumeria, chrysanthemum, tuberose, Angel's Trumpet, Mexican tiger lily, dahlia, and azucenas.

    Trying to branch out!

The good thing is you have a list of notes that work on you, and do you also have a sense of what doesn't work? Here's a way to look at things: Base notes: Patchouli, Musk (all kinds, or just some?), Vetiver, Amber Floral: Rose, Geranium, Jasmine, Orchid Food: Vanilla, Pink pepper Fruit: Orange So do all variations work for you? For example, I can do musks but not red musk. I can do earthy like frankincense but not a ton of vetiver. How about in the fruit category? Have you tried plum, strawberry, melon, peach, apricot, etc? Like you, I also tend to love the spicy fruit musk, almost Asian blends, and I try very hard to break my singular love. :-) In fact, most of your notes are my top faves, minus jasmine & rose although in the right scent it works. Here's some things that have worked on me and are very different from above but similar in vein to what you mentioned. I underlined the notes that you can give a try: Oldies, hard to find Selkie - The chill waters of the Orkney coast, tea-leaved willow, honey-touched Grass-of-Parnassus, sea aster, and Scottish Primrose. Leo 07 - Egyptian amber, walnut bark, chamomile, frankincense, and saffron. Agony of Heartache - Purple sage, red patchouli, blackberry, lemon blossom, and lime rind. Diwali - Lotus root, mogra, mango, tamarind, cardamom, clove, almond milk, cashew, rice flower, coconut, supari, raisins, and incense crafted from aloeswood, red sandalwood, cedar, and spikenard Newbies, easier to find Black Lotus - Black lotus flower, amber, myrrh and sandalwood. Mr Ibis - Papyrus, vanilla flower, Egyptian musk, African musk, aloe ferox, white sandalwood. All Saints - Based on a venerable French pontifical incense blend: monastic frankincense and myrrh, Damascus rose, Russian gardenia, cassia, and lily of the valley wafting on a chill Autumn wind. Ezekiel’s Phoenix - wild plum, North African saffron, frankincense, pomegranate, limonite accord, and golden amber. Famine - Sleek black tea, tobacco leaf, frankincense, lilac, and white musk. Les Bijoux - Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh. Ave Maria Gratia Plena - Rosewood with Sicilian lemon peel, red Mysore sandalwood, pale musks, sweet mountain sage and a dusting of lily, night-blooming jasmine and orris. Bewitched - blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk. Good luck!

    Wood Phoenix

Why repeat oneself when PurringPulsar & Akurarei said it best, Wood Phoenix is Australian Copperhead + Leo 07 love child. It's that perfect mix of musk, walnut, and a touch of berry bringing warmth, comfort with a slight touch of sultry goodness. I'm in love.
  15. cvelis

    Gaueko

Man what a weird experience, I read the notes and I'm like "yes, check", but once it dries I'm like "damn, that was disappointing". Some in there turns this into a weird icky sticky mess of a scent, I wonder if it's the nag champa or labdanum. I think I'll hold on to this, and give it another try to be sure cause damn those notes should work on me!
