For me this started out with a spicy, almost licorice scent to it. Dried down to cedar and frankincense. I love it! "She left Mass with incense hanging on her Gunne Sax dress, to remind her of all that was holy, but it was all in vain. She tore away from her family, running through the village and into the carnation fields, tugging at the black licorice she had hidden away in her pocket, and barefooted, soaked up the sunlit afternoon in her own Sunday style."

I am in love with this scent! On first whiff I get blasted with a creamy cherry bomb! On me I feel like a creamy white chocolate covered almond truffle that was dropped in a jar of maraschino cherries! Sweet, creamy, cherry and divine! Dry down still smells quite creamy on me, but the cherry has settle back and the blackberry has come into play in a wonderfully sweet way. The fruit in this makes it delightful for autumn and the holiday season, as well as year round, whenever you want to dally in dark forbidden fruits!

I am a complete dunk and dabber and not the least bit ashamed of it! I absolutely love drowning myself in perfume and for the full size bottles I only get perfumes I like. After all, they are made to wear and use up and buy again! I am not worried about contaminating them because I am the only one who will ever use them and I go through them fast enough. As for the leftover oil on my finger, after dabbing it on my skin, I just slide it in my hair for a longer, lingering scent! Then I wash my index finger with soap, water, dry it and voila. I am done! So far I have not spilled any oils. Knock on wood, mirrors, glass, anything you want! For imps I use the wand, unless I find out I love it and then dunk and dab again!

Not sure if this has ever been done here, but thought it might be fun to try! Like many others on this forum, I Iove scent and reading. Why not mix the two? I am trying to find the perfect BPAL scent for reading Russian novels. Anna Karenina, War & Peace, Dr. Zhivago. I am thinking something of deep roses, frankincense, tobacco, vanilla, after dinner chocolates and coffee, cherries and champagne. There is one titled Moscow which I think I will order. Any other thoughts that might fit the mood of a Russian novel, with heavy snowfalls, elegant drawing rooms, fine dinners, romance and seduction, corsets and muffs, trains, exquisite libraries and deep red velvet curtains?

I've tried Moscow and liked it, despite its not being as deep or complex as I'd imagined, settling into a similar sweet lily+orange to that of Belle Epoque. As for my own recommendation, I'll put in a plug for Pulcinella and Teresina of the Carnaval Diabolique, who for me turn from a curious wine vinegar in the bottle to a sweet, rich wood blended with rose nectar on the skin. Thanks! I will look those up and see if they appeal to me!

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I find O and Stekkjarstaur to be similar to Mouse's Long and Sad...all three have a "good enough to eat" quality without really being gourmands (though perhaps Stekk could be classified as such...) Thank you! I will look into these two! Do they still make Antique Lace or has it been discontinued? I love that scent so much, but mine is empty and I could not find it online in their listings. -
