Sadly, Litha gave me severe headaches as did other oils with BPAL's honey note in it. But I trucked on and bought Mead Moon in hopes that the vanilla and other spices would smooth it out. I am so glad I did! The honey in this one is how I had hoped all the other ones would be. I can definitely smell the vanilla and I get a hint of spices in the background. It really is lovely. I'm so glad I bought it! It's a nice summertime scent but I think it will do well as an all year scent.

In the bottle all I can smell is dark coconut. Wet: The lemon amps WAY up (yay!!). I'm also getting an undertone similar to Voodoo in this. It is still very much a coconut blend but there is something in the back that's almost sinister. Dry: The lemon falls into the background a little and the woodiness comes out. Overall this blends perfectly once it dries down. It's a really great dark, coconut blend. It's almost as if Namaste and Elegba had a love child actually.

In the bottle the scent almost knocked me over. It's really powerful. I can definitely smell the bitter clove (and it is bitter, opoponax, and cypress. I would classify the smell as masculine overall. Wet the clove amps up big time. For the first 5 minutes or so it was all I could smell. Dry it softens up a little and I can smell the blood accord and grapes. There is also a hint of muskiness in the background for me. The cloves are still front and center for me though. Overall I'm not really sure how I feel about this one yet. It may be a little too heavy for me. I think I'll keep for a couple of months or so and see what it smells like once it has aged a little. It has potential, the grapes and blood accord are lovely, but the clove is a little overpowering.

This is the love child of Red Lantern and Sugar Skull imo. In the bottle: a light version of Sugar Skull On my skin: I smell something almost caramel-like which makes sense Dry: It's a less stringent, musky, and sexy version of Sugar Skull all the way. I still get the occasional hint of caramel but it's not all the time now. 4.5/5

I was hesitant to buy this because of the pine but was hoping it would be outweighed by the fruits and dragon's blood. On me, the melon seems to ramp up a lot. I really wish I could smell the coconut or dragon's blood but I get mostly candied melons. Overall it's very pleasant though.

This was one of the first BPAL scents I ever bought. I fell in love with it quickly but then didn't wear it for awhile. Today I wore it and now I remember why I love it so! It totally goes through different states on me throughout the day. 6AM: When I first put it on all I could smell was cocoa...it almost smells like the unsweetened cocoa powder people cook with. 8:30am: While I was working with my student in Econ class, the red wine took over, adding an even drier element to the perfume. Now (4:30pm): It doesn't have the throw it did at the beginning of the day, but I still get wafts of it. It smells sweet and chocolaty.

I was a little afraid to try this because of the rose but when I heard people saying that Crumpet Rebellion smelled slightly the same way I had to try it. I love Crumpet Rebellion but only have an imp of it. I'm so glad I did! The rose is soft and subtle and hangs in the background. Once again blackcurrant smells divine and the foodiness really comes out. 4.5/5

This was one of the first BPAL scents I tried and it made me laugh out loud. Literally. I couldn't shut up about it for the whole day. It just seemed too genius. Bubblegum! Heady floral perfume! I could smell both and they were perfectly balanced. Luckily a few more BPAL imps came in soon after because I think my boyfriend was getting sick of hearing me say how witty I thought this perfume was.

I decided to try this after posting on another forum looking for a BPAL scent that is smiliar to Villainess's Ginger Snapped smooch and soap. I wish I was able to get the lemon scent from it that someone else mentioned. Maybe if I try layering it with something like Namaste or with a lemongrass single note? I think I definitely like this better than Gingerbread Poppet.

This is simply delicious! The buttercream and blackberry really come out in this one. It smells almost like berry flavoured frosting. I don't really get much cake in it, but I think that's a good thing. Absolutely divine. This and Perilous Parlour are definitely tied for my number #1 BPAL scent.

Ooooh. *loves* It smells sparkly and happy!! Instead of pear I smell grape for some reason? Maybe the wine? Either way, it smells fantastic and sparkly for the first couple of hours. After that the lotus seems to soften things and it smells softy, creamy, and fruity.

I was JUST coming over here to say the same thing. In the bottle it smells EXACTLY like Coca Cola to me. On, it still smells slightly of cola but also a little woody. Overall, a surprising scent. Not at all what I expected it to smell like. 4/5

I bought this after trying and falling in love with Elegba (coconut, tobacco and sweet, sugared rum) because I thought they would be similar. They actually aren't, which is ok because I actually ended up REALLY enjoying it!! It's a lot wetter, whereas Elegba was much creamier for me. I guess that is probably the "water" note coming out. I can definitely smell the coconut but it has a different feel to it. Elegba is like the coconut in a Pina Colada...sweet, creamy...walking right up to the line of being almost cloying but not stepping over the line. Obatala is a much cleaner and thin coconut for me. It's the kind of coconut water that comes out after you puncture a coconut.

Kali was my first BPAL heartbreak. I REALLY wanted to like this blend!! I have a huge tattoo of Kali on my right arm and she is by far, one of my favorite god/goddess stories out there! Having said that, after trying it, I've discovered that I do not like wine at all. I thought the dark chocolate would balance it out (which is what I experienced with Centzon Totochtin) but between the wine, hibiscus, and tulips my head was spinning. I only tried it once, I may be willing to try an imp after it has sat around for a bit 2/5 (2 points because I love Kali and I could smell the chocolate)

his scent is perfectly balanced. Usually honey notes don't work for me, but the resin seems to soften it for me. The vanilla (as usual) is perfect and is a great addition to the blend. 5/5

This smells like Vampire Tears to me but "pinker" and a bit softer. I think that's the lavender and dark musk rounding it out. Overall I love it! 4/5

This is the only cinnamon note that works on me! I'm so happy I was able to get a bottle of this!! It's warm, and I can definitely smell the coffee, cinnamon, and tobacco.

YUUMMM cherries and cream!! It smells like cherries, ice cream, and whipped cream!!

I am SO glad I kept this one! When it first arrived it gave me a major headache. For some reason I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it though. I recently tried it again and the sharpness that gave me a headache had calmed down a lot. Now it's sweet (burnt sugar and something almost maple like) and creamy.

Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy
vintagedlust replied to requieminblack's topic in Limited Editions
I really really REALLY love this scent! It smells exactly as it should in my mind. Lacquered wood, a bit of a masculine feel to it, and sweet sweet caramel and butterscotch. To me, it smells like the Dummy was cleaned, lacquered, and then someone spilled something sticky, sweet, and yummy on it. -
In the Bottle: The Champagne REALLY comes out in this one. It smells "sparkly"? That's the best way I can explain it. The strawberry is there but barely. On the Skin: Ahh there's the Strawberry! It amps up a bit and now balances out the Champagne note. Overall: 3.5/5

I received this from the lab as a frimp. I've always been intrigued by the idea of blends with a "dirt" note in them, but never got around to buying them because it seemed like such a gamble. Jazz Funeral had me sold! I don't get any bay rum in mine (maybe it will come out once it's aged) but the florals and moss are very nice and soft. The dirt adds a nice base to it. Overall it's a lot lighter in scent than I expected it to be.

This is by far, my favorite chocolate blend EVER!! It smells just like a Hershey chocolate bar. Random aside, I love putting it on after lathering myself with Villainess's Gloop Whipped.

This morphed quite a bit on me as well. In the bottle and when first applied it smelled very...perfumey I guess is the best word to describe it. At first it's sharp in my nose, almost the way some lunacies are for me. So maybe it's the lotus root? After an hour it settled down and is now delicious and creamy and sweet. I can only guess that that is the cotton flower and sugar cane coming out and maybe the musk? I think I can smell a slightly woodish component to it thanks to the sandalwood. Overall rating from 1-5? Probably a 3.5 with points taken off bc the initial smell is too sharp for me. I'll definitely continue to wear this though.

This is scent was actually my first BPAL love and has remained one of my favorites to thsi day. When I first put it on all I can smell is the citrus. For me this isn't really offensive or bad. I love the smell of lemongrass. As it dries down there is a woodier note that creeps in. The rose and patchouli get totally lost on me. After reading the description I was really surprised to read that there was either in Namaste.
