ack! too many things going on here - almost abrasive to my nose. Mostly dirt, but overpowering dirt.

Velvet is gorgeous. I now understand why George Costanza wanted to be naked and wrapped in velvet! It's so smooth and soft right from the start, and actually deepens in the drydown to a lovely vanilla sandlewood. Very luxurious blend on me.

So many people love this, but I can't get past the cinnamon and it's not going sweet on me at all. Throw is huge, and I'm hoping with age it will mellow, or maybe I can layer it with something to soften it. Right now, too much cinnamon for me!

I'm a violet lover, and The Raven is a keeper. Just gorgeous deep violetyness. Beautiful throw, too.

Saving the Scarecrow for my worst enemy. Yeah, it's that scary! Harsh, burning straw - no thanks!!!

fortunately I have an aged bottle. At first the almond is just too much and I get a cherry almond "jergens lotion" from it... but it mellows quickly into a soft almond. Very wearable.

super sweet milk chocolate! Great for a foody mood and not as "heavy cocoa" as Lump of Coal, but still really yummy.

yum yum yum!!! This is lovely warm soft spice on me. Good throw and I find myself reapplying it because I want to, not because I need to. LOL

this thankfully stays in the rose incense range on me... somewhat complex and mysterious and it really should be a big bottle. Drydown brings out the sandlewood but it's not overpowering.

smells just like Victoria's Secret "amber romance" to me... lovely warm vanilla, very comforting. Maybe not for every day, but definitely for comfort days.

I'm thinking that the sheep are safe from this Passionate Shepherd - he's all mine!!! LOL This is all floral and grass, but in a fresh wildflower meadow sort of way. Initially, I got air freshener from it - just a blast of heather, which is prominent in most room fresheners that I choose. But it quickly gave way to carnation and grass, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm amping the carnation, the grass and heather keep it fresh and soft - and that just catapults it into multiple bottle territory.

I'm on the fence. A bit sharp out of the bottle, and the grapefruit is most prominent on me. The rose is there and I'm briefly reminded of Arcana's Breakfast in Hollywood, a light bright citrus floral blend. It softened considerably on dry-down but there was still a sharpness to it, and I really thought it would go out the door. However, about an hour later, I'm here sniffing my hand and thinking it's changed. The sharpness is gone and I'm getting soft there's a light floral soap, again more rose than jasmine (thankfully) and I suspect it's the amber that is warming and softening things. It's really quite pleasant, and I can see using this with a lot of my rose/jasmine based Lush and BNever products... but one bottle will be enough and I suspect I'll imp out a good part of it.

This oil is forcing me to face my honey prejudices... I generally put honey on my list of most unliked notes and have been wondering why I even ordered this bottle! I expected to be smacked in the face with HONEY, but instead it kinda wooed me gently from the start... there's a light fruity undertone out of the bottle and a warmer sweetness that must be the vanilla flower. It's beautiful wet and dry - none of this waiting for it to drydown and morph into what I love. Dry, it's soft and warm and only very lightly fruity. It brought back childhood memories of plucking sun-warmed honeysuckle flowers, and sniffing and tasting the nectar. Very very pretty.

Gorgeous!!! The label is beautiful, so if you're into labels, this one has a stained glass vibe about it. Sniffing from the bottle - not so great. I passed on trying it several times and it almost went straight to the sale page. The cedar, cypress, frankincense were just all WHAM! - to the point that I almost didn't even bother with the skin test. Lesson learned... b]so [/b]glad I did, as it quickly turned into a lovely smoky incense on me. I'm getting a beautiful violet from it, not sure about the rose, but really I think just an incensey subtle floral is my best description of it. I'm just stunned by how much I like this, and thrilled by how much it likes me.

I feel foolish in posting, as I can't really articulate it ... something in this oil just bugs me. There's a note that in the bottle detracts from the creamy vanilla... it's similar to that "thing" that bothers me about Love's Philosophy and that I still haven't found the words for. Wet, the note is still there. On the drydown, it fades gradually until a few hours later when it just is vanilla. After 6 hours, it's still faintly there. Quite pretty but do I have the patience to wait hours for what turns out to be a warm amber vanilla?

this is so pretty in the vial - bright, light tangerine. It's like bottled sunshine. In the bottle, that is.... on my skin, it just vanished. Gone without a trace. I had to reapply it and look for the shiny area in order to know where to sniff... and still nothing. I'm so disappointed and mystified.

I'm trying SO hard to like it, but sadly, it stinks. On me, at least - I have two friends who absolutely adore it. Maybe if I roll the bottle better... hoping. hoping, hoping against hope. Out of the bottle - ugh. Strong ashtray. Don't even want to try it on. The myrrh is killing me! Wet - not much better. Dry-down - has greatly mellowed; I can appreciate the complexity and it evokes memories of Icon from Lush (probably the myrrh or frankincense). But the wait isn't worth it and I'm too traumatized from the wet stage to be able to enjoy it. Plus too many people have asked me to wash it off.... not a good sign! LOL

OMG is this lovely!!! The notes are seamlessly blended. Out of the bottle, it smells like walking through a forest with flowers. It's got a unisex quality to it, slightly reminiscent of men's cologne (which is probably the pine/juniper berry contribution), but something really softens it. I'm not a rose hater so I don't know if the rose will amp. I am very picky about jasmine, and this is not "jasmine shoved up your nose" at all. It goes very slightly soapy on me but I have no complaints because after all, don't we all love beautiful soap? When wet, I got a fleeting memory of the old Herbal Essence shampoo, a good thing IMO. But the final test is what others will say... so my neighbor comes over to help with gardening, and immediately gravitates to it. The kids love it. I love it. 'Nuff said. Yep, I'll be getting another bottle of this one.

This one is just too much for me to review... I get the dirt like some others, then I get almost deep cherry/fruity cough syrup, and wet dark rotted roses like with Black Rose. It's definitely going to be an acquired taste, if I can just be patient enough to try it over the course of a whole day. So far, I haven't been willing to keep it on that long - it's just too strong.
-
what she said. I dream of having several bottles, all different ages.... I can't imagine how intoxicating opening a 3 year old bottle of Snake Oil would be! Reminds me of Kiehl's Original Musk #1 - unisex and sexy. There's just nothing like deep dark vanilla musk.

Khajuraho is my "nekked wrapped in warm cashmere" scent... I love it, it turns me into a contentedly purring kitten stretched out in the sunshine just waiting for someone to scratch my belly! I don't like most honey scents but there is something in the warm vanilla floral balance of Khajuraho that makes me appreciate the honey note... but the champaca flower is my love by far! Just the most lovely blend. I'm esctatic that 2008 is coming out!

This scent loves me and I love it back! I need it in a gallon container with a pump dispenser. I get that warm wrapped in cashmere feeling just like I do from Khajuraho - just soft candlelight and flowers. It has a lot of throw and I was still sniffing it at the end of the day. Breathtakingly lovely and I want more. Anyone posting who doesn't like theirs... just lmk. LOL

morella is not something I need more of.... it was a light but dirty green in the imp and quickly faded to a nondescript mossy scent with something like a light lemon soap in the background. I wouldn't say unpleasant as I can see the appeal to green/moss lovers, but just not for me.

This is a "like it a lot but I only need one bottle" scent for me... I do get men's cologne when wet and the tobacco was prominent. But on the dry-down, it mellowed into a deep warm, slightly boozy scent that did garner a few compliments throughout the day. I kept thinking "I've smelled this before"... reminiscent of Arcana's Devilish maybe? Or maybe I just have too many "smoky vanilla musky with tobacco" oils... but it is not a standout scent for me.
