In the imp: Quite a sweet almost alcohol infused patchouli which is ok as I don't mind patchouli in blends & it usually just stays quiet on my skin. Wet on skin: Just patchouli. Pretty much straight up patchouli essential oil which I'm not overly fond of. Dry: Patchouli & ugh something that smells sort of dead or rotting? This smells horrid. I assume the dead/rotting smell is vetiver. Overall: I didn't let this dry completely I just had to get it off. Unfortunately my skin chemistry hates this! I'll make sure to avoid vetiver in the futute.

In the imp: Fresh sort of herbal smell. Fairly pleasant. Wet on skin: Just very herbal sort of smell & a teensy bit sweet. I really can't pick any particular notes out. Dry on skin: Oh god this goes to the horrible curry sort of smell that happened with Music of Erich Zahn. I'd love to see it's effects but it smells rancid on me.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Mixxi replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I have fairly sensitive skin but no allergies (that I know of) but the other day I applied Tokyo Stomp about 10 minutes after a bath & it burnt the crook of my elbow . My wrists, neck, clevage etc were fine but just the crook of my elbow went all sore & burny & red. I'm guessing it was the mint in it but I've never had that kind of reaction to any perfume. -
In the bottle: Strawberries & something sort of synthetic smelling. Wet on skin: Strawberry & black cherry are at the forefront now with a vanilla rounding it off and sweetening it. I can also smell something floral and soft in the background which is probably the heliotrope. Dry on skin: This is where the magic happens . The red musk & amber race to the front and sex the whole blend up! There's the gorgeous creamy, fruity sweetness going on underneath this sexy musky scent. Overall: This is just what I wanted! It's another favorite of mine I'd put in the sweet/foody but sexy category. Absolutley gorgeous

In the imp: Light, fresh, clean & sort of floral & herby. Wet on skin: Ooh tea! It's sort of like a citrusy herbal tea smell. Dry on skin: Still a sort of lemon herbal tea which is strange as no lemon is in the listing.. perhaps it's just the 'light herbs'. Can also smell a floral background to it. Overall: Light & pleasant but not my 'cup of tea' . May use the imp up for one of those days I feel like smelling light & fresh but otherwise I might pass it on the someone else.

In imp: Wow this is very light I can barely smell it. What I can smell smells very clean & fresh which is suprising for a love blend as from the ones I've tried (mostly TAL) they usually smell much stronger and deeper. Wet on skin: Still very light but can smell a soft lemony scent. Quite pleasant. Also it's some sort of soft herbal scent too. Dry on skin: Dry, funnily enough, this has come out a bit stronger. I can smell the soft lemony herbal scent mostly but also clean sheets and possibly sort of a cucumber smell (very fresh & a slightly watery & a bit green if that makes sense). Overall: This scent is nice but not at all what I expected. I don't think this smells typically sexy like other love blends I've tried from BPAL & TAL. It's nice, light & fresh & I think I'll probably use my imp. As for the effects well I haven't worn it out or around the opposite sex yet but I may do it as a little experiment.

In the imp: Can definately smell the red musk which is good, also the patchouli which I don't mind either but then in the background there is definately, what I'd call, 'masculine' notes. I think it might be vetiver. Wet on skin: Yep. Red musk, patchouli & sexy man. Dry on skin: This dries to the red musk & patchouli but also has a definately spicyness but more curry than cinnamon! Overall: Not me at all. It smells too masculine for me & that odd curry spice note I bring out which is not good. I may hang on to my imp to see how it smells on a victim of the opposite sex.

I got frimped this by the lovely Ah Xia In the imp: Lemony washing powder.. but somehow yummy? On my skin: The washing powder is turning more into a pleasant clean sheets smell with a yummy creamy lemony smell. Dry on skin: Lemon is to the forefront & it's taken on a sherberty candy like status with the clean sheets blowing in the wind behind. Overall: Not a scent I'd usually go for but it's quite unusual & I'll definately use my imp.

In the imp: Very sweet & floral lotus. Can't smell any rose yet. Wet on skin: Still very sweet & lotus dominant. Quite pretty at the moment. Dry on skin: All I can smell now is a rather uninteresting rose scent. The lotus has gone & I'm just left with roses with a slight soapy smell. I do like roses & rose blends a lot but this is just plain rose on me. Overall: This is nice & quite pretty but as it ends up as nothing more than rose on me it's quite uninteresting to my nose. I may test it again & see if anything more becomes of it but if it continues to smell so 'flat' then it'll have to go.

If you can get hold of the recently discontinuted Tarot:Star I find this to be mostly lime (backed up with mint & coconut).

In the imp: Very peachy & can smell the white musk here. Very girly & sweet. Wet on skin: This really is very peachy on my skin. I can smell the white musk & the bergamot too. Dry on skin: Yep. Peaches & white musk with a little someone extra that makes it have a creamy roundness. Overall: This is nice & pretty. Seems to have quite a lot of throw. It's very innocent & girl & although I like this I'm not sure if it's me. I may use the imp but I don't think it's a bottle candidate.

In the imp: Mm.. sugary mint tea with a hint of citrus. Wet on skin: The pale mint is dominant here & it's a light feeling scent but has quite strong throw. Dry on skin: The mint has stepped back a bit but it's still there. I can smell the orange blossom a bit now too but mainly tea, sugar & lemongrass. Overall: I've made a mental note in my head to try this again as it's sweet & light & could become a nice daytime scent to wear for someone like me who isn't all that into light scents but I'm still a little unsure about whether this will be a bottle purchase. But it is very nice

In the imp: Dark, alcoholic smelling & sort of insensey. Wet on skin: Ah this is very floral & I can definately pick out stargazer lily but I'm not too familiar with the other floral scents as I'm not really a floral person. What's different about this is that it is very much a dark, sad floral. Dry on skin: This has pretty much completely faded on me. I just get a light whiff of the dark florals. I think this is way too 'grown-up' & mature for me (I'm 16 in case you were wondering ). It has a very formal quality which is interesting but so not me.

In the imp: Nearly all rum (not particularly spicy rum to me though?) & a hint of perfumey sort of smell. Wet on skin: Now spicy rum, salt and the wood is creeping forward & coming to the foreground oddly.. Dry on skin: Oh my.. I've never really tried any blends with wood in but my skin has amped this up big time but there is still spicy rum, salt and perfume behind it. I can't get the association out that I smell like a fragrant wooden fence . This is also very masculine to me & while it doesn't work on me with the right skin chemistry I think it could smell lovely. I'm inclined to keep this imp to try on unsespecting males!
-
In the imp: True lemony citrusy smell. Bitter & sweet at the same time. Wet on skin: Still smell lemon but can now smell the airy and aquatic notes underneath Dry: This is very subtle & light but somehow this just does turn into a lemony bathroom cleaner on me . Light scents are very rarely my cup of tea even if they do work on me so unfortunately I don't think I'll be using up my imp.

In the imp: Woah strong, high pitched & screaming notes! Wet on skin: LIME & MINT. Zing! This is very sharp and energising if you know what I mean. It really wakes you up. Dry on skin: Lime & mint have stopped being loud as hell and have stepped back a little and blended with what is now definately creamy coconut rounding this off nicely. Overall: I do like this & if it were GC I think I would probably get a 5ml but it seems like it's quite rare now.
-
In the imp: Caramel features heavily. Smells foody & sweet with a hint of something sexy in the background. Can definately smell the blackcurrant too. Wet on skin: Caramel still really strong & now the coconut is coming out a lot & can smell amber behind it. Dry on skin: I can now smell the amber & hint of sweet tabacco blended beautifully with the foodyness of the caramel, black coconut & blackcurrant & the opium & spice behind it. The notes can be easily picked out but they are blended gorgeously. Overall: This is one of those scents I put in the 'sexy & foody' category. I recieved this as a frimp & i'm not sure how hard it'll be to get a 5ml but I will try! I think it's lovely & definately my kind of scent.

In the imp: Floral honeysuckle (which I'm not the most keen on) & cinnamon Wet on skin: CINNAMON.. can't smell much of the honeysuckle.. just a little floral tone to the background Dry: This goes a bit sweeter and more candy-like on my skin but that's okie as I like candy smells! So it smells like sweet, sugary cinnamon. Very warm & lovely. Might purchase a bottle for warm comfort on cold winter days.

I'm reviewing this for lab fresh Snake Oil. In the bottle: Spicy sweet vanilla with a little musky undertone. Wet on skin: The vanilla creamyness stays in the background while musky spices come to the foreground. I'm really liking this & I think it is like a Smut's lighter, sweeter little sister. Dry on skin: The vanilla comes out a bit more now and the musky spicyness comes back a bit. The vanilla is definately dominant but it's a sexy, gorgeous vanilla with the sensual musk & spice underneath. This does smell great on me & i think it's going to definately become a favorite of mine. I'm going to get another bottle of this I think to age as well while I use this one to see what it smells like aged.

Scent: I don't have the imp with me know but I remember this smelling slightly citrusy & herbally. Quite a pleasant smell but not one I'd usually go for say it were a perfume. Effect: Well the one time I used this when I felt crap & was crying I immediately felt a bit better & stopped crying which is odd because I didn't intend to stop crying. Then I went to sleep & could see things a little clearer in the morning. So all in all this is very comforting & the time I used it I think it worked. I've today given this to my Grandma as she is in an awful state & still trying to cope living by herself. She's had depression for years but she's letting it get her really ill & is stopping taking her medication & stuff . I know she probably doesn't have long left but she needs this imp of Anthelion much more than I do & I really hope it helps her.

Scent: This does smell mostly of red musk & citrus which does smell quite nice on me however when I put it on at first for a while it sort of goes to the back of my throat where it's so strong but when I asked other people they said it was fine. Even with the throat thing I think it smelt quite nice. Effect: Well I put this on with intent of just trying to seduce someone nice (a stranger really) & was trying not to think of my ex that I still like but I couldn't really help it & he slipped into my thoughts. I then went out into my usual pub where my ex doesn't go anymore as he's working almost all the time. I was sitting with a few mates when who comes strolling up to me & sits by me? Yep. My ex. So I asked what he was doing there and he said he had a day off work. He was by himself so I said I'd have a chat with him. So we had a chat & stuff but he was really, really drunk. >.< One of his friends came eventually & I apologised to his friend (about something that happened ages ago) but then my ex brought everything up again & started a bit of an arguement so I went to a club instead. I wasn't going to review it because even though he came to the same pub i was at, first on his own for ages & it was a bit weird he wasn't being exactly over-friendly by making an arguement. Anyway the reason I did decide to review was a few days ago I listened to my voicemail box & had a message from my ex (left the next day after he saw me I just hadn't realised) & he was apologising saying he was horrible to me & asking if I could forgive him & maybe we could meet up some time. So I'm thinking maybe this does work.. hmm.. Anyway I think I'll try it again when I'm in a proper relationship with someone & see what kind of things this oil can do.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! It took my BPAL virginity & a bought a bottle of this unsniffed.. anywho.. In the bottle: Yummy yummy mint & vanilla both warm & cold at the same time.. reminds me a lot of mint humbugs. Wet on my skin: The mint & vanilla take turns to come to the foreground & I can't pick out which is the dominant note. Dry on my skin: The vanilla finally wins and the mint hangs around in the background but it still smells lovely. After a few hours a subtle chocolate note kicks in. This is definately a winner with me. I love it so much.

This scent to me is straight up linen sheets. In the imp & on my skin. What's strange is I would have NEVER thought I'd like a scent like this but I love it! So light & perfect for hot summer days (if we're lucky enough to have any in England!) & work. I wear it when I just want to smell nice if you know what I mean. It's simple but amazing in the way that it works so well as a perfume. I have an imp of this & will definately get a 5ml.

In the imp: Neroli! & lots of it. That's pretty much all I can smell from the imp with a little sweet background note. Wet on skin: Neroli is still really strong.. not sure I'm liking it at this stage. Dry on skin: This eventually drys down to a very orange & raspberry sherbert sweets smell on my skin with just a tiny, tiny hint of neroli in the background! For some reason these sweet fruits come storming into the foreground but that's all good with me. Nice scent with average throw. Will definately use my imp & consider buying a bottle.

I bought this off someone on the forum selling it because I thought it would smell glorious on me from reading the notes. However, I was sadly mistaken. It smelt very ashy & smokey & had a TON of throw. I could smell sugar underneath the smokeyness but it was like burnt sugar not pleasant at all. I really wanted to love this one but even my Mum came in and said 'UGH WHAT'S THAT SMELL. Oh it's you.' This has gone straight to swaps I'm afraid.
