The name of this scent matches my mood exactly today: . In the bottle: Funnel cake and the slightest bit of ozone/air? On wet: More carmely notes/a bit of burnt sugar/that air note again/waffles/a bit of cinnamon? Drydown: I'm getting French Toast/waffles/funnel cakes/churros with the tiniest hit of spice (cinnamon? nutmeg?) and a teeny little ozone pop. Very comforting.

I'm actually surprised that this was a Weenie, because it could easily be a Luper. It's such a light yet complex meadow/grassy/floral thing! In the bottle: Grass and honeysuckle. On wet: I get tall grass (think a field of foxtail grass), crushed dandelions, and comfrey, with a little bit of warmth behind it. As it soaks in, more layers of florals and grass come to the front...think walking through an overgrown field or clearing in a forest. As it dries down further, I get a little teeny bit of a more sophisticated almost musky floral. End of day takeaway=honeysuckle and grasses, with a tinge of some kind of dry note. Stays close to the skin, medium wear length.

Tried this for the first time today! I love this...it's kind of a cool leather cologne. The Lab's "ozone" note always kind of read as marine on me but this time around it really does smell like...cool air conditioning air. Definitely a "new black leather shoes" leather, not a "leather jacket leather" or "old timey club chair" leather. I wouldn't call this "masculine" per se but it sure is butch and I LOVE it!

In the bottle: I'm getting ALL THE ROSES. Really, this is a super duper rosey rose blend. On, wet: Some green rose stem/leaf notes pop up, along with a hint of clove which adds tiny spicy pops. As it warms up, the clove pops up a bit more but roses are still the star of this show on me (which is surprising because I tend to amp clove). Drydown: This stays a really rose-forward blend; if you are a fan of BPAL rose blends you need this one; don't let the clove scare you off.

In the bottle--a kind of fruity patchouli? On, wet: A really gentle kind of oudh, and a hint of musk...fruitiness is definitely there; listed note is fig but I am getting some deep dried plum also. Drydown: After a few hours you're left with a sort of fruity musky patchouli. Not what I was expecting but loving it anyway!

Really nice; it was a random pick out of my new box and it's very upbeat. In the bottle: I'm getting a sugary lemon floral with a hint of herbiness. On, wet: The tea and bergamot notes start to open up, which adds a dry bitter note and tones down the initial sweetness. Drydown: After a few hours I'm left with a very clean white tea and bergamot thing. Wish it lasted longer on me, because I really love all the phases of this perfume during its drydown and wear.

First up: If you like real, polished aquatics, this is a MUST. In the bottle: Strong, almost soapy aquatic notes along with some salt notes. Not stale bracken aquatic but really like a high end body wash kind of aquatic. On, wet: The darker listed notes open up immediately; I get damp green and black musks as well as deep dark resins, and a pop of something almost like creosote but not quite. Drydown: Medium throw and wear length, final drydown is still high-end aquatic with some woods/resins in it. Very nice.

In the bottle: Gentle, powdery rose with some kind of dry resin notes in it and the faintest whiff of honey. On, wet: The orris root starts to gently peek out, along with soft crushed violet petals and a general low-key floral-shop note. Drydown: After a few hours I'm left with a super-clean almost spa-like dried rose petals and vaguely dry blend of resins and other dried florals. Really a very gentle and calming scent.

In the bottle: I'm getting sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet cupcakey notes. On, wet: Peppermint and white chocolate notes start to open up pretty quickly, along with a deepening of the "cake" note. Drydown: This dries down to a sort of buttercream mint frosting on me. Not what I expected but a really fun gourmand.

Wasn't sure when I ordered this one but took a chance. Anyway: In the bottle: Getting butter and caraway; not at all what I expected. On, wet: Kind of a bread, caraway, rosemary, and olive oil thing--the olive oil note was somewhat unexpected. Drydown: Took a while to develop, and I was left with a caraway and olive-oil kind of thing. Not sure how well this holds up on its own as a scent but maybe a great layering scent? This one may need some time to rest. I think it's the olive oil/butter note that isn't quite working for me, may layer it with other herby scents to see what happens.

In the bottle: Really sappy, resinous, fresh-cut pine, like when they used to sell more than one kind of pine tree for Xmas trees...strong, sappy pine. On, wet: Wet and dry pinewood notes start to open up, the sharp high note of fresh pine really spikes. Getting a faint oil/turpin note also. Drydown: This reminds me of "strike night" at my Summer Theater Group in high school, when we broke down the sets at the end--lots of dry pine notes, pine sawdust, and a little bit of some kind of metallic note. If you are a pine fan, don't wait for Yules, just buy All Of This.

Believe the hype, this is a good one for bringing up memories. In the bottle: Massive chocolate chip cookie dough blast, with a hint of something a tad metallic/greasy, like a hot baking sheet greased with Crisco. On, wet: Motor grease note flares up to the top over the sweetness. Oddly enough, it reminded me of one of my earliest memories at my maternal grandparents'....one of Grandpa's jobs was driving for Entenmanns bakery, and VERY early one AM--it must have been one of the days that we had to go to my neurologist in the Bronx--we stopped by at the factory store for employees only when Grandpa was loading his truck. I remember the smell of the loading area mingling with the incredibly sweet smell of all of those incredibly fresh baked goods. This reminds me of that. More recently, I happen to live off the corner from a very active Italian sweets bakery whose baking operations are pretty much 24/7 (retail is regular hours) and the smell when you walk past the industrial baking area is somewhat similar, especially if you catch them cleaning the mixers. Drydown: Chocolate chip cookies cooling on very hot aluminum racks, with that tiny hint of industrial oil in the background. Don't even try to layer this one; it is its own thing. I actually really like it; it's like a combo of kids' chocolate chip cookie lip balm and some kind of badass industrial thing.

I never had the perfume but I am loving the HG to death (see what I did there?) Anyway, when on fresh on me, it's a burst of dirty vetiver and a hint of pine. Dries down to this gorgeous soft black leather/green-herby-dirty-patchouli kind of thing.

In the bottle: I get the Lab's "snow" scent and fresh-cut grass. On, wet: Opens up more into the florals of the snow note; I'm getting white florals and maybe a hint of mint/spearmint? Very sheer. Drydown: Unfortunately on me, this one almost vanishes on me after drydown, where I'm left with a faint veil of white florals with a little bit of crushed green grass. I love this but I wish it lasted longer and had more throw.

Let me start by saying that all of this year's Lupers just play so well together; I know I am going to layer the F out of this with Elizabeth of Bohemia and BRD. Anyway, today I wore it solo. In the bottle: A blast of fresh crushed rose petals, like from a florist's shop, dusted with raw Hershey's cocoa from the can. On, wet: Both notes start to develop fairly quickly; the cocoa gets a bit of sweetness and the rose starts to settle down to a gentle pink tea rose. It keeps this tone over a fairly short drydown. My only complaint is that I wish it had more wear length. It's a really lovely, sexy combo and reminds me of the precious chocolate-dipped rose petals I once saw decorating a cake somewhere a zillion years ago....

When I first got the HG I was a little nervous as oudh can go so, so wrong on me. When I first got the bottle, it was a bit strong in that regard, but I reached for it again today and it is SO SO SO delicious and perfect and sexy and lovely now, and not a hint of cat pee anywhere! EDIT: Revisited this a few days ago and today, and it is THE move for layering with any other rose-based BPAL perfume. It is SO SO SO SO SO good with Peacock Queen!

Oh, but is this a gorgeous aquatic. Super-duper clean-smelling; getting fresh saltwater with just a touch of white floral aquatic notes; if you are afraid of roses in blends this one may be for you as a gentle intro. This smells like you just stepped out of the shower at some super high-end spa; not sure how else to describe it.

This one was really a surprise on me. I didn't get any of the patch at all; rather, I got a very bracing, clean citrus vibe out of this, with little spicy hits of ginger. This is really aptly named; there is something incredibly comforting about this scent. Oddly enough, I also didn't get much of the lavender in this; normally I tend to amp patch and lavender but here they stayed politely in the background. This one is all about the herby citrus front and center.

Lavender, White Clove & Ambrette Seed
Threemoons replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I had some trepidation when I first got this because I'm not a huuuuge lavender fan, but I was intrigued by the sound of the blend. In the bottle: True herby, dry, hot lavender--not perfumey lavender but like a dry bunch of flowers and stems from the field. On, wet: Still getting that lavender, but there's another dry, hot note tempering everything. Drydown: Doesn't take long to settle in on me, interestingly enough the lavender fades into the background and I'm left with a sort of dry, woody scent--neither the clove nor the ambrette really separate out. Very nice, and maybe a good intro to lavender blends for the wary. Unfortunately the wear length is very short on me, and the throw is low. I still like it but needed more re-applications than usual. -
Okay, I had to actually leave my apartment today to take a friend to and from a medical procedure, so I had to cosplay as an adult today and actually get up early, bathe, and put on shoes. Needed an energy boost as only had 4 hours of sleep. Reached for my new bottle of this. WOW am I glad I went with my gut on this one; it is such a morpher on me. In the bottle: Total faceful of Starburst Fruit Chews, really! Super duper fruity and sweet, I got lots of mango and strawberry and orange. On, wet: This one opens up really quickly, like throwing a bottle of orange glitter and fruit juice against the wall. The fruit develops out very quickly into more recognizable, fruit-like scents; I'm getting the distinctive dark berries and fresh oranges listed as well as strawberries. There is a TEENY bit of some kind of spice and herb in there when it goes on wet as well. Drydown/development: Takes a long time and lasts a long time; the end result is something you'd never guess from the initial in-bottle scent and application: You wind up with a sophisticated, soft, fuzzy sort of fruit-musk/chypre thing with a bit of dry white ginger and a teeny hint of dry green mint. It goes from being a very wet, juicy, almost gourmand to this gorgeous sophisticated thing that I would buy ten gallon drums of if it were a body wash.

Wow, this one is a 6-hour morpher on me. In the bottle: Hmmm...honeyed resin? Wood? Dry dark wood notes with something resin? Whatever. On, wet: Beeswax and brass start to come out...I used to play saxophone in the school band and this scent reminds me of the smell of the old case...dry wood, resin, and brass...something resinous and metallic as well as waxy...Drydown: This is where it gets interesting. First drydown was 100% brass musical instrument and pads for me; I swear I could smell my old leather, cork, and saxophone case. Then, finally, the wood came out, and as an encore, the leather came out...fine leather, used to line old cases back in the day. Truly gorgeous combo that has zero to do with the sum of its parts! Anyone who played a brass instrument ever will know right away what I'm talking about.

Had packed my Gluhwein from 2019 to take to Mom's, and wore it today. Wow, it's aged nicely. In the bottle: Cinnamon and apple cider notes, with some cloves, and hints of raisin/dried fruit? Really more like spiced cider. On, wet: The "warm wine"magic starts to open up, with more sugar notes and a real "warm wine" note overtaking the cider notes. The cinnamon is a really good "unbaked" cinnamon. Long wear, low throw on me. Drydown: The cinnamon, clove, and warm wine scent stays pretty stable for a long time. My Mom makes Gluhwein for our family Thanksgiving without fail every year, and also for Xmas and Rosh Hashana (mixed family). Mom took one whiff of me after I put it on and said "Wow, that smells just like Thanksgiving!" Really nice, and DEFINITELY a holiday scent.

This is new to me as I finally got a bottle of the OG release. In the bottle: Toasted hazelnut muffins of some sort, with some kind of sugar glaze on them. On, wet: After a brief explosion of something like sweet cherry brandy--very boozy--candied fruit notes come out to play, like the really high quality stuff that gets used in good fruit cakes. Little bursts of cocoa start to show up also. Drydown: Assorted fruit and nut cakes/cookies and sweet cocoa, with the sweet cocoa notes bubbling to the top and some kind of frosting note...brown sugar? Pound cake? Not too strong and actually really interesting.

Tomato Leaf, Black Pepper & Hay Absolute
Threemoons replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I am the BIGGEST fan of the Lab's Tomato Leaf note, so was very excited to try my newly-arrived bottle today. I bought two bottles of this blind and may need two more. In the bottle: Really sharp vegetal tomato leaf and cut hay. On, wet: Tomato leaf comes out even stronger, with a hint of actual fresh tomato juice like when you cut a very ripe tomato (NOT the crud in a can). Hay bursts forth shortly after. Drydown: The black pepper is nicely understated and is like a dash of ground black pepper from a spice jar, not a whole bag of cracked fresh peppercorns. Tomato leaf and hay are still present, but now it's a painting on black velvet of a tomato leaf and some hay; much more subdued and mellowed out surprisingly by the black pepper. This is a really DIFFERENT scent but also really sophisticated. I really want to layer this with my Erotic Vegetables HG for more herb and tomato leaf fun. I only wish that they had some Tomato Leaf Note Atmos so that I can turn my bedroom/home office into a Tomato Leaf Trifecta. -
When I first got this, the initial sniff in the bottle was toooo sweet. BUT now that it has had time to settle, here is my review: In the bottle: Blast of sweetness; not gourmand; lots of nectar; almost honeysuckle? On, wet: The individual floral vanilla notes and honey (again, non-gourmand) come out, along with sugar notes (oddly enough, no gourmand here either). In the background, a powdery kind of vinyl and leather. Drydown: The sharpness of the vinyl note vanishes thankfully, and leaves behind this gorgeous sweet thing of nectar/honeysuckle and a very WHITE leather note; like very fine leather gloves, not grunty leather jacket black leather. It's really more of a gold-white honey floral with a background/backdrop of the fine leather. Super cute, very wearable, and oddly femme despite the leather.
