A decadent chocolate treat, with a lot going on. Chocolate is the strongest note on me, and it is more of a bar chocolate. The other notes I can pick out on their own is the coconut, which is more of a coconut cream, and the pistachio, which is more the cherry side of pistachio. There's a lot more going on in the scent, it mixes together in this complex, slightly spicy base.

Ginger ale, vanilla ice cream, covered in caramel. Unfortunately, I did not get the apple note at all. The ginger ale is the strongest on me, and serves as the base for the scent. The caramel is second in terms of strength, giving the impression of a ginger ale float with a very heavy hand of caramel topping. The caramel and vanilla note, the later of which is pretty mild, bring a lot of sweetness to the scent, which also rounds out the sharpness of the ginger ale and takes away from some its fizz. Overall, not as apple-y or ginger ale-y as I'd personally like, the but I'm definitely getting the inspiration.

This was another chilly rose scent on me. It reminds me a lot of Pink Snowballs, Snow White, and the Bear Prince. This one may not be as dedicatedly chilly as some of the others, and the combo of the white lace and tea rose brings a higher amount of sugar and sweetness to the scent than some of the others mentioned. I do not get any of the blackcurrant. And the white lace does dominate the scent. So as more of a rose lover, this wasn't really for me. Too close, while also not being as rose-y as other scents already in my collection. Though if the Lab's lace note is your thing, maybe this is for you.

The raspberry and plum notes where the strongest on me. I wasn't able to pick out the blackcurrant on its own, but I wonder if its adding to the tartness of the scent. While this is a raspberry scent more than anything else, the plum is very noticeable. There's also almost a linen quality to this scent I cannot quite place. But overall, a bit more fo a raspberry and plum duo, very tart, red, and juicy.

Rose, merlot, and sweet resin in equal measures on me. The rose note came off more as a black rose than red, but that may be the amount of resin I'm getting from this scent. The merlot is noticeably sharp and a red wine note. Combined with the resins, which the labdanum dominates, but is sweeter than labdanum on its own, the merlot and resin notes create this heady atmosphere that constantly threaten to overtake the rose note. They're never successful, but it ended up feeling more like a resin and wine scent than rose. There is also a noticeable sweetness, especially to the resin, but I cannot pick out the honey note on its own.

The lime leaf, violet leaf, and oak combine into a sour, sharp woodsy note that dominates the scent. I cannot pick out the bergamot, but I think it's adding to the lime leaf. But this is not a citrus scent at all, the lime is noticeable, but it's especially green and woodsy, almost herbal. The sandalwood provides a smooth oud that sits in the background and gains strength with time. I was really surprised how un-citrus this scent is, despite being lime forward. Instead, it's a very green, leafy, woodsy scent.

The heliotrope dominates the florals and while the floral notes are pale, they are not especially delicate on me. The florals just slightly dominate the cashmere note, the latter of the two does get stronger with wear. The white musk can't quiet be picked out on its own, instead creating the mentioned chilliness to the scent. I like the description of absence of warmth in the previous post. It reminds me more of hard glass than cold. The inspiration of a forced smile that does not reach the eyes comes through.

Resin and velvet on me. I do not get any of the fruitiness of the blackcurrant or the floral of the rose. Both instead I think are lending to a more resin, almost woodsy quality of the scent. It reminds me of labdanum more than anything else. The velvet slightly dominates the scent, so it ended up being a very dark, smoky velvet scent on me.

As an apple lover, I really wanted to like this one, but this scent is not for me. The apple ends up being noticeably mushy smelling on me. And the syrup note is especially sweet on me, to the point of being chalky and reminding me of an especially artificial hard candy. And the combo of the sugary hard candy and mushy apple did not mix well to my nose.

I got more of the moss and greenery. The woodsy elements dominate on me, but register to me as a cedar. Reminds me of a very fragrant walk through a deciduous forest, fresh cedar heavy, with a lot of greenery.

The various florals and creamier notes combine to make what I could have sworn was an especially smooth orris note. This did not smell particularly floral on me. Instead, I'd describe it as far more of a soft, creamy, more musk than sweet scent. It ended up being a little simple on me, smelling more like an orris or smooth musk single note. The inspiration of soft, inscrutable dreams comes through, but did not end up being very interesting on me.

The black tea noticeably dominates on me. The DL note is clearly present, but sits in the background. And I can barely pick out the bergamot on its own, it mostly supports the black tea note. The tea note here is very crisp, almost sharp, and has noticeable lemon undertones, especially with the bergamot. It's pretty strong, almost reminding me of bergamot tea flavoring. Overall, ends up being an especially crisp, black tea dominated duo with dead leaves.

The sugared pear and violet dominate on me, combining to make what to me reads as sweet-sour bubblegum. The other notes come out more with time, but the very sugared pear and violet combo stay in front.

Pumpkin tarts. In comparison to the original, the rose is even less noticeable on me and the pumpkin makes it less sweet, while still being very much a foody scent. It still has a candy quality I recall from the original, reminding me of tart candies, and thus almost chalky. I agree it's not overly pumpkiny, just enough to be noticeable and make the scent almost creamy.

I would describe this as more of a white tea musk. The white tea note is by far the strongest. I cannot pick out the other notes, but there is fuzzy oud/resin quality behind the white tea. It almost reminds me of a wool or sweater fabric. Overall very crisp, with a mild sweetness that is hard to place. As a white tea lover, this is simple, but very striking.

Wild grasses and flowers with apple in the distance. The wild flowers note ends up dominating on me pretty strongly. And it smells more like a mix of prairie flower and grasses, very green and fresh. I think some of that fresh quality is coming from the apple note. But the apple note is distant and only becomes more so with wear. And even at its peak, the apple smells more like a sour green apple than the red apple note listed. Overall, it smells like a walk through tall grasses in a flower spotted meadow. Pretty, but I was really hoping for an apple scent.

Resiny peach. This is more of a peach and resin duo on me. It doesn't smell roasted to me, but I do get a velvety quality. While I cannot pick out the rose, I think it's adding to the labdanum and the sweet fruitiness of the peach. I almost get a vague wine or candy quality to it, but it's hard to pin down. Overall, this brings to mind peaches, on a bed of velvet, and surrounded by resin.

A core of patchouli, surrounded by bubbly citrus. Despite how it smells out of the bottle, the patchouli is the star of this scent and shines through the other notes. It is a noticeably soft patchouli though. The lemon is the second strongest note. I get a bubbly nature of the apple wine, but it's not particularly apple on me and more reminds me of distant champagne. I cannot pick out the bergamot, cashmere, and lavender, but there's an added citrus and round fuzziness that I'd attribute to those notes. Overall, a strong core of especially cozy, fuzzy patchouli, surrounded by a cloud of slightly bubbly lemon.

Strawberry Moon 2024: Red Currant and Silvered Musk
samanare replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
This, unfortunately, is fancy soap on me. The silvered musk is an icy, slightly spicy, slightly metallic take on a white musk. The combination with the red currant brings it into fancy winter soap for me. The silvered musk dominated combo brings to mind more winter berries iced over in an especially harsh cold snap. -
Mostly a coconut single note on me. I get a touch of frankincense in the background, but it more reads as warm resin than frankincense specifically. I also cannot pick out the amber, but I think it's bringing or at least adding to the warmer quality of the scent. And the coconut is a warmer, beachy coconut. Sweet, without being sugary, and never quite reaches powdery. Overall, it's a lot more simple of a scent than I was hoping for, but being a coconut lover, I'm still really enjoying this scent.

A frosted cake scent with an olive twist. I would describe this as a pretty standard cake, foodie scent. I don't get much in the way of lemon. The vanilla of the frosting is stronger and gives the impression of buttercream on vanilla cake. Except for the olive oil, which is very noticeable without dominating the scent. Much like actual cake with olive oil, it's interesting, but not enough, for me, to warrant more than a slice/decant.
-
This is largely kyphi tar on me. The labdanum only adds to the deep resin nature of the scent. I get whiffs of silk and benzoin in the background. I can just pick out the rose, but not the carnation. Overall, it brings to mind a scene very close to the inspiration art: a dark room, filled with almost sticky incense, with floral scented drapings in the background.
-
Strong pale florals floating on mild, sweet fruits. The lotus is ever so slightly the strongest note on me, with the lily not far behind. The two mix to for the strong floral nature of the scent, which still reads as pale, despite its boldness. I get hints of the other notes, but cannot pick them out individually. Overall, it smells like a light base of very sweet citrus and other fruits. While I cannot pick the note out itself, this background reminds me most of the apricot. Lastly, I don't get much in the way of an aquatic note. Like the other notes, it's very light and relegated to the background. Overall, a lotus and lily dominated scent, as the flowers bloom over a toned down, shallow pond of soft, sweet citrus.
-
Fig dominated frosting on me. I get the fig note the strongest. The other notes come together to give the impression of a frosting heavy cupcake. I don't get any honey or patchouli, just buttercream with big chunks of fig. Despite it being a fruit, fig on me doesn't read as foodie. So on me the buttercream and strength of the fig note felt a little at odds. The former, and the other notes, wanting this to be a gourmand scent, and the latter not so much on me. I think this comes down to personal taste though, so if fig cupcakes seems strikes your fancy, this might be the scent for you.

A lavender dominated, deep, dreamy purple scent. The lavender is by far the strongest note on me. And it's a deep, almost wet version of lavender. I think it's being taken in a more floral, voluminous direction by the rose and aldehyde notes. I'll get whiffs of the ambrette and violet leaf, but outside of that, any other notes blend together to make a very purple background. Overall the scent is noticeably floral and slightly plant like. I'd describe it as thicker, night time, dream like scent. It reminds me more of a thick purple blanket of lavender and other plants and flowers, than the sheer, airy purple of the art inspiration.
