Rhubarb is by far the strongest on me, to the point that this scent is almost a single note. I can pick out the sugar and baked goods notes in the background, but it reads as more cookie than custard or muffin. The rhubarb itself is more tart than sweet and noticeably vegetal, while still being foodie and almost fruity. I was hoping some of the other notes would come out more, but I'm sure rhubarb lovers will like this one.

The pineapple is really strong on me and dominates the scent. I can just barely pick out notes of pistachio and marshmallow, but overall this is close to a fresh cut pineapple single note on me.

An almost atmospheric citrus and ambergris scent. The citrus notes are ever so slightly the strongest on me, with bergamot being the most noticeable among them. It's still more of a citrus scent than just bergamot, and is mellowed out by the other notes. The ambergris is the next strongest, combining with the white musk to be more atmospheric than aquatic. I cannot pick out any of the other notes, but there is an ever so slight pine forest component to the scent. It brings to mind soft glowing fairy lights above a distant forest, as opposed to the chill I associate with the northern lights. Overall, a musky citrus and ambergris scent that reads as more night air than aquatic.

This is pretty much a mint scent on me. I can just barely pick out the cherry and citrus notes, but it never breaks through the mint. Overall, more of a green citrus tinged mint scent than anything else.

Like Spellbound, the amber and red musk combine on me in a way that reads to me more as sandalwood than anything else. The rose is noticeable, but in the background along with the snow note, which reads more fuzzy than cold. Overall, a rose tinted, especially fuzzy sandalwood like scent.

More honey than cake, with a heavy side of lavender. The honey note is the strongest on me, but it does have a cake quality to it, as opposed to a straight honey scent. It's a very dense honey cake note, bringing to mind a cake soaked and dripping with honey. The lavender, while strong, still plays second fiddle to the honey. The lavender note is on the cozier, sweet side here, given a deeper quality to it by the combo with the honey. Overall, the scent is a very dense, cozy, rich honey cake with a healthy dose of lavender, warm and deep while still being foodie.

Fancy dinner bread. The baguette note is the strongest on me, and it does smell particularly fresh and just out of the oven. I think that's the lavender note, which is the next strongest note, adding a warmth and sweetness to the scent. The lavender is more on the foodie, sweet side here, making the scent noticeably sweet, without losing that bread quality. The rosemary is there, but just barely, and registers more as a mix of herbs that got added to the bread. Overall, a great bread scent, though slightly sweeter than you may expect.

Bergamot, Himalayan Cedar, and Lemon Peel
samanare replied to Jenjin's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
More of a cedar dominated cedar and lemon duo on me. The lemon peel is fresh and isn't especially artificial smelling on me. It does add to the cedar, giving it a fresh, almost pop-y quality to it. Overall the scent is a little too overpoweringly lumber yard for what I was hoping for, but is still a pleasant scent, when applied lightly.- 4 replies

Wolf Moon: Beeswax & Pine Needle
samanare replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
The beeswax comes over very resin-y on me and dominates the scent. It ends up being a relatively simple, resin dominated scent, with a hint of pine needles. -
A snowy eucalyptus dominated scent, over a bead of dead leaves. The eucalyptus is the strongest note on me, by far, and the snow note only adds to it. I do get the Lab's DL note as well, but it's mostly overpowered by the eucalyptus. Unfortunately, this ended up being an overpowering eucalyptus single note on me.

I'm a cautionary fan of iris, so this ended up being a real hit for me. Noticeably sugary, with the sugar softening what would otherwise be an iris single note. Simple and striking, without being overbearing, fresh and almost fruity.

A relatively simple scent on me. It's mostly champagne. I do get a noticeably amount of lemon peel, but the I cannot pick out the apple or rose notes on there on. Overall, the scent is close to a champagne single note on me. I do get some citrus and maybe just the slightest hit of rosewater.

A warm coconut milk scent with rose dominated florals. The coconut milk reads especially coconut-y in this scent and slightly dominates the scent. The various florals are the next strongest, with rose being the one I pick out the most. I can just barely pick out the ambrette seed if I try, but overall, it's in the background with the sandalwood, adding a warmth and coziness to the scent. I cannot pick out the other notes, but I think they're there, adding a sweetness to the scent. Overall, an especially coconuty coconut milk with soft cozy florals.

What it says on the tin. On me, this scent is roughly equal amounts pomelo, mandarin, and grapefruit. Unless I'm particularly trying to pick out one of the notes, they blend together to make a very bright, fresh, and slightly sweet 'citrus' note. The scent is still more of the orange variety than anything else. It's a relatively simple scent, but as a citrus lover, this is everything I could want.

A Winter’s Scene with Skaters Near a Castle
samanare replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
Dead leaves with spicy stroopwafels, cutting through an icy sludge day. The Lab's dead leaves note is the strongest on me in this scent. The stroopwafel is noticeable and smells much more fresh and spicy than what I'm used to with the pre-packaged variety. The snow and ice notes read as more watery sludge, but in a good way, a more aquatic, lighter take on the Lab's ice note. Overall, I get the impression of decaying leaves dominating a the first frost of the year, spent inside with a spicy fall treat.- 4 replies

What it says on the tin. The cedar is slightly stronger on me. The fig is noticeable and not particularly sweet, also adding a green edge to the scent. Overall, this scent remains surprisingly woodsy given how prominent the fig note is.

This ended up being a very strong wood scent on me. The hemp and the pine needle combine to smell more like fresh lumber. It's still noticeably pine-y and fresh, but I was hoping for more a pine needle, as opposed to pine wood scent. I also can't pick out the juniper berry note.

The mushroom dominates on me. It smells very brown and full, reminding of fresh mushroom caps. The rose is there, and does read as a sweeter, pink, rose. It's also playing scent fiddle to the mushroom, so I do get the imagery of rose buds over full blooms. And I can just pick out the moss in the background, adding a slightly misty, green nature to the mushroom more than anything else. Overall, a mushroom dominated scent. The rose and moss add a freshness and green note to the scent.

Champagne poured over mushrooms. This is more of a mushroom scent on me than anything else. I don't particularly get a green musk and the scent comes off a lot more brown to me, with how strong the mushroom note is. The champagne is clearly there, but not as strong as the mushroom. Overall, I imagine a party on the forest floor, champagne being poured in the distance, party goers surrounded by mushroom caps.

A very green rose scent. The rose reads as more pink to me, dewy and slightly sugary. The star of the scent is the green stem and leaves of the rose, which smell so strong and vibrate it reminds me of crushed plants. Very fresh and very very green.

Lemon and apples with rosewater. Foodie, but not very baked goods smelling on me. I can barely detect any of the spice notes, and instead get a scent that is surprisingly fresh and citrus. It reminds me a lot more of the lemon-rosewater bath the apple slices are in, before they go into the pastries. A bright, enjoyable scent, especially for apple or citrus lovers, but not if you're wanting a pastry scent.

Sweet golden apples with greenery in the background and just a touch of mint. The apple note is the strongest note, but just barely. And it reads more as a golden apple. A lot of the other notes blend together for me to make a green, almost prairie note. It brings to mind apple trees against a background of green meadows, with various flowers and plant life, without being noticeably floral. And there is just the tiniest bit of mint, but it's there, and very green, like somewhere in the distant there is mint growing in the meadow as well. Overall, I'd describe this as a golden apple scent, with a bouquet of greenery in background that is not particularly floral, vegetal, or minty, but adds to fresh quality of the scent and brings to mind the tree that grew the apples.

A very boozy fruit scent. Almost equal mix cut fresh fruit and alcohol on me. I can pick out the apple specifically, not so much the lemon. Overall, between the sherry and fruit notes, I more get a general fruit quality to the scent, and it reads pretty fresh to me. That freshness is tampered down by how strong the booze note is here. And I don't get a custard or pie quality to this at all on me. Overall, it reminds me of a homemade fruit punch bowl, with chunks of fresh apples and citrus, heavily spiked at the holiday party. More cocktail than foodie scent, imo.

Lemon resin. Even as a lemon/citrus lover, this was a pleasant surprise. I would describe this as more of a lemon, frankincense, and myrrh trio as I personally don't get any amber. The scent is a very compelling duo of lemon and resin. The lemon slightly dominates, keeping the scent bright and light, but the usual tart freshness of lemon scents is mellowed out by the myrrh and frankincense. For me, this is noticeably different from the typical fresh lemon scent, and is more lemon resin, more yellow than fruity, but airy and light. I'm surprised by how unique this is among my lemon scents, and this is a favorite of this year's Yules for me.
