Honeycomb, with a side of tea, surrounded by sweet incense. On me the incense/frankincense and honeycomb battle to be the strongest note. The tea is there, but distant. I get just a hint of lotus root, which adds to the green, earthy, plant nature of the tea, and the bergamot, serving as a slight citrus edge to the honeycomb's foodie sweetness. Overall, an incense scent sweetened by a noticeable amount of honeycomb.

Woodsy citrus tea. The mandarin and green tea are the strongest on me. The amber and wood notes are just barely there, rounding out the scent, adding to the plant nature of the green tea. I'm also getting a minty quality to the green tea. As a whole, the scent is light, a little on the understated side for how much is going on. Overall, a mellow cup of green tea with mandarin, overlooking a nearby forest.

I was hoping for more of a fig center scent. Unfortunately the saffron quickly surpasses the fig as the strongest note on me in this scent. The fig is still there and noticeable, while the amber is purely in the background, softening the scent. Overall, I'd describe this as more fig fell into the saffron jar than saffron infused fig jam.

A deep black resin floral scent. On me, I get the ambergris, black musk, and a floral note. It definitely brings to mind black satin petals of a large, blooming, synthetic flower. Deep, resin-y, slightly heady, and slightly sweet. Overall, a darkened floral musk.

This is all Snake Oil on me. I get no rose, just the spicy, resin-y brown-red musk I associate with Snake Oil. The snake must have eaten all the roses with my chemistry/nose. Not for me, but I'm obviously in the minority. I'd say must love Snake Oil for this one.

A base of ambergris and orris root, with a haze of pale purple florals. The combo of orris root and ambergris are the strongest on me, though I would describe this as slightly more of an ambergris scent than orris root. I cannot pick out the various florals on their own. They combine to form a pale floral musk that reads to me as purple, without being distinctly violet or lavender. The scent starts and stays relatively light, though does not have a bad throw. Overall, it gives me the impression of a mix of purple and gray musks, with just enough ambergris to be noticeable.

Unfortunately this was pretty soapy on me. Fancy soap, but this was not the scent for me. The salt musk is the strongest, making the scent aquatic at its base. I get the citrus of the lemon peel and the florals end up being more of a pale white floral musk on me. Overall, a salty aquatic with a glow of lemon and floral musk.

Honeyed fig breaking through a molasses haze. At first, this is almost all molasses. As it wears, I can start to smell the honeyed fig. Its intensity increases until the sweetened fig dominates, though the molasses is always present. I never get the hazelnut. Overall, a foodie scent of molasses haze surrounding growing, honeyed fig.

Dark Chocolate, Blackcurrant, Rosewater, and Apricot
samanare replied to Seajewel's topic in Lupercalia
Despite being all chocolate wet, this is more of a rosewater scent on me. I would describe this as rosewater filled with blackcurrant, and a side of dark chocolate. I can't smell the apricot; I think it's adding to the blackcurrant, making the scent more fruity. Overall, a fruity rosewater scent, made warm by the dark chocolate.- 4 replies

What it says on the tin. On me, it's a pretty equal mix of all three. I would describe this as more chocolate and rum flavored coffee than anything else though. All three notes combine together to make this an earthy, spicy foodie scent. It reminds me of the spiced coffee or Turkish coffee note in other scents.

The honey in this scent makes the rose so sweet, I first read it as more of a pink rose than white. This scent is definitely a sweetened rose scent at its core. The amber and ambergris follow behind but are playing support here. I don't get the other notes at all, though I suspect the vanilla and coconut milk are adding to the striking sweetness of the rose. This may be too sweet for me, but I'm sure this is a honeyed rose lover's jam.

Sweet yellow citrus. Wet, the first thing that comes to mind is yellow. Overall a very yellow and bright scent. The strongest note on me by far is the yellow mandarin and it almost smells like lemon. I can't pick out the other fruit, but they add depth to the citrus in the scent. I also cannot pick out the other notes, but there's an added sweetness to the scent that does not come from the mandarin. It's on the edge of smelling like citrus candy on me. In short, I'd describe this as a sweet, bright, yellow citrus scent.

Foodie sandalwood. The soft, warm sandalwood is front and center here. I don't get the other individual notes so much as fig cream. It's not quite that baked goods scent, but still foodie, made warm and comforting by the sandalwood. Overall, a slightly understated warm, fuzzy foodie scent.

Ends up being more elderflower pop, but what it says on the tin. On me it starts off more black cherry heavy, with carbonation from the seltzer note. As it wears, the elderflower comes out more, until it surpasses the cherry. The cherry's never gone, but it ends up being more the elderflower's show. Overall, a bit of a morpher that changes from black cherry pop to a floral pop.

Abalone with sea salt. The woodsy, almost resin like, aquatic abalone is strong on me. I also get the additional sea salt and the florals, though the florals are in the back and indistinguishable from each other. The grapefruit I smelled in the decant is nowhere to be found on my skin. Overall, an abalone heavy scent, the sea salt brings an additional aquatic nature to the scent, while the florals contribute to resiny plant like quality of the abalone. An interesting aquatic, but not for me.

Spicy custard. The clove, followed closely by custard, is the strongest note on me. I can tell there's cinnamon, vanilla, and pistachio, but they're in the background. As the scent wears, I just barely get whiffs of the marzipan, making the custard slightly more cake like with time. Overall, a spicy, warm, foodie custard scent. Pleasant, but I had hoped the other notes would come out more.

Very dewy and very, very green. Almost like chlorophyll in a bottle. It's all fresh cut plants, stems, and grass on a dewy early morning on me. I don't get white musk so much as the slightest hint of more of a pale silver musk. Overall, the scent brings to mind a well watered, full green house, with just a vague hint of moonlight.
-
Honey with pear infused cream. Honey is the strongest on me, followed by the pear cream. I find it to be far more cream than pear, but it is noticeably pear. The cream is very sweet, especially in comparison to the honey. I can't pick out the vanilla or the skin musk on their own, but I think they're playing supporting roles to the cream and honey respectively. I don't get the orris root at all. Overall, a scent that's not as foodie as it may seem on paper, due to the raw honey and skin musk notes. A fair amount of sweet, vanilla and pear cream, but first and foremost a honey scent.
-
Woodsy orris with a side of coconut. On me, the orris root is definitely the strongest. The orris and coconut combo here reminds me of Blood Pearl. To me, the combo mixes together to make this semi-sweet white musk scent, which the orris root dominates. I can't pick out the sandalwood on its own in this scent. The orris root more has a woodsy, almost resin like quality to it, as opposed to smoky. Another pleasant orris root scent, imo. The other notes are playing second fiddle, but are still bringing something to the scent.

This is almost a plum single note on me. I can smell a little bit of blackcurrant, but none of the champagne. Overall the scent is a fruity, slightly heady, plum, the hint of berry making it more vibrant and juicy. On me, definitely more plum juice than champagne and plum.

Minty, woodsy leather. The leather is the strongest note on me in this scent. It almost smells like wood, and I think that's do to the various plant and 'green' notes. The mint is close behind the leather, and has a depth and green, almost forest-y roundness to it in this scent. I don't get bergamot, but the other notes combine to form something that reminds me of a lush, pine forest note. Overall, the scent brings to mind a gathering of pine forest plants, dominated by mint, bound together in leather.

A floral tea scent on me. This is almost a tea single note to start with. As it wears, the champaca blossom comes out, giving the scent a strong floral roundness to it. The orange becomes barely noticeable as it wears. Overall, a strong floral tea scent.

A bright, and almost bubbly fruit mixture. On me this is equal parts lime, red currant, lychee, yuzu, and blackberry. Any time I start to think I'm smelling more of one, other others come through. It results in a very bright fruit mix, without being particularly berry or citrusy. I don't get the vanilla, green tea, or white musk at all. There is a slightly carbonated quality to the scent, maybe that's in part due to the white musk, but I attribute it to the berries. I wish there was more to the scent and/or one of the fruit notes came out stronger over the rest. As currently, I would describe this scent as more of a general fruit cocktail scent. The blend starts to be feel like less than the sum of its parts.

I would describe this as a light, atmospheric, slightly aquatic, but more white musk scent. I can't pick out any of the individual notes at all. On me the scent is a pale fog that vaguely reads as orris, with a slightly earthy, crushed rocks and crystal quality (I attribute to the pearl note), green plants (balsam and immortelle), and just the slightest aquatic note (sea foam). I do not smell anything I'd attribute to coconut or kelp and grasses. Overall, I would describe this as a white musk atmospheric scent, that's slightly on the rocky and aquatic side.

I don't get pineapple candy as very sweet, very ripe pineapple. And a lot of it. The scent is very close to being a pineapple single note on me. I don't get hemp, but there is something in the background that brings a slight earthiness to the scent. I can't put my finger on what it is. Overall, very much a sweet pineapple scent. A little too simple for my tastes, but I bet pineapple lovers will like it.
