Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener
kimmer replied to flyingpizza's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
I am in heaven The perfect rootbeer scent, but even better. It's like Tombstone weds Morocco and has a baby rootbeer float. Thank you, Labbies - I am thoroughly in love with this scent!! -

I have to figure out a workaround for my DC'd Schnuggle. I ordered from the UK last night and my finances won't tolerate too much of that (they have their Xmas stuff up though!!). I'm tempted to melt down my unused Mange bar, add whip in some cornstarch. -
If you can get your hands on some Carnivale, I always found that to be spicy/fruity. and layered with Chimera, it's even spicier

I purchased this one based mainly on the foody aspects (honey, date palm(?), vanilla bean). My body chemistry seems to bring out the florals, particularly the tuberose. Slightly off topic - is tuberose the same flower as stephanotis? This blend reminds me very much of my wedding boquet, which was primarily roses and stephanotis. In any event, this one is a lovely warm floral blend (but I think I'm going to have to stick with the Smut )

My first impression is sweet buttery caramel. Once applied, the caramel fades and ... this really is a complex scent. This one reminds me a lot of Elegba, with a drydown of rich, sweet tobacco and coconut. I like it, but I may have a difficult time wearing it (boo menopause).

Mellow and a bit boozy in the bottle--slightly sweet. My initial impression is that it's got something in common with Snake Oil--I'm guessing that it's one of the musks (but I could be completely off base ). This is definitely a skin scent on me. Warm and musky, just slightly sweet and boozy. Thank you to the lab for getting these out so quickly--I'll be scoping out reviews to see what else I need to order before Lupercalia goes away ETA: The longer it's on, the better it gets. and the throw is *just right* Must have more.

I think Snow White (at least the 04 version) smells a lot like a Pina Colada.

It's been awhile since the last time I demanded that Mike sniff my wrist.. this is so lovely. I'm not picking up the green that others are mentioning. Right off the bat I'm getting sweet creamy almonds (at which point I demanded the sniff). The scent is still morphing though, and I also detect fig and a light undercurrent of coconut. The scent is fairly light right now, but the true test will be tomorrow (temp of 93). I hope it blooms, because I just love it. Thanks, labbies

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?
kimmer replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
I'm thinking White Rabbit will be a nice early summer scent. -
There are some Ebay listings for Pavi Elle... (unless you're looking for a BPAL version)

In the bottle I smell mint. When I put it on, the blast of mint is followed by a slight coconut scent, then it goes plastickey. This is the first time I've experienced that. Something it my body chemistry does not agree with Spooky. I'll keep one bottle to use as a room scent, and the other two will go up for swap.

you know, my old morocco 10ml is nothing like my 5ml OR my imps! i thought i was going crazy. it's way woodsier. i'm really disappointed in how different it is-- it's like another perfume entirely. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let the lab know. I was curious about mine and they recommended allowing it to age--they also offered to replace it. I opted to hang on to it. That particular bottle never has smelled like Morocco. I've also found I have better luck with 5ml's, but I have received a good 10ml in the meantime. I do sympathize

I thought Love Me smelled a lot like Flying Fox -
I absolutely love this. Hot tea with lots of sugar--truly comforting. It reminds me of my childhood and drinking tea with my Mother. Dorian will compete with Bliss for being my favorite bedtime blend. Kudos to Beth and The Lab--who'd have ever thought such a scent was possible. Thank you!! Edited to remove multiple instances of "scent"

I committed this imp to the Oblation Caravan. Must. share. the. preciouss. *sigh. If I order it right now, that'll make three orders in a single day. Only Beth (and The Lab) could create a scent as lovely as this. The mango is evident--but hidden behind a veil of red musk. In time, the mango lightens and I'm able (just barely) to detect the florals. I probably won't do it tonight, but I will be ordering a big bottle.

When I first put it on, Thunderbird reminds me of Love's Lemon Fresh--brings me right back to 1972. As it dries down, this scent deepens (the ozone?) into a wet citrusy storm. I generally don't enjoy citrus scents, but this one intrigues me...

Hmm. The first thing that comes to my mind are those chocolate-dipped candied orange slices from Godiva. I was worried about this one becoming bittersweet on the drydown, but instead it mellows into a lovely smoky scent, with just a hint of chocolate. Absolutely beautiful--I really like it.

On me, Oisin is light and fresh scent. I definitely pick up the white must, but there's something green, and a little floral here. When wet, this blend doesn't strike me as being very masculine. However, as it dries down, the musk comes to the forefront and I could see it smelling very nice on a man. Very nice

I'll vote for Hamadryad too. Good luck on the interview Eoywin - I'm sure it'll go well

Until now, I was never really certain what amber smelled like. In The Lion, it’s soft, warm and golden. There’s a hint of spice, but dry spice--similar to Morocco or Queen of Sheba. I like this blend, but it stays too close to my skin—I like scents with a little more “throw.”

Believe it or not, I have had two things arrive frozen recently. One, a 5ml of Egg Nog, the other an imp of Morocco (and none of the other swap items were frozen). Just for the record, we'd had -15 temps that night. It doesn't seem to have effected the quality of the oils, and the bottles didn't break. With imps though, I could easily see the caps popping off (taped or not).

In the bottle and when I first put it on, I'm primarily smelling patchouli and rose. As it dries, the scent darkens. If I sniff my wrist it smells nice, but the civet leaves an afterscent--almost like an aftertaste, at the back of my throat. This blend may well be the perfect distillate of decay, death, and damnation--but it really isn't my style.

A very well-blended floral. It’s difficult to pick out the individual notes. As it dries down a bit, I’m beginning to detect the jasmine. This blend doesn’t really do much for me; however, it’s a rare floral that catches my interest.

I've had this imp for awhile and every time I've sniffed the bottle, I put it back down. In the bottle, it's dark and musty. I swiped a bit on my wrist and cautiously sniffed. Hmmm.. Anise. I shouldn't be surprised. On me, Black Annis dries down to a soft, licoricey scent, a little dusty perhaps. Considering the number of scents that I absolutely love, I'll pass this one on to someone else.

I was wondering if I was the only one who got coffee from this scent. In reading the other reviews, I can see I am not. The bittersweet chocolate is most apparent, with a slight fruitiness that I would imagine comes from the wine. Something in my body chemistry turns this blend into bitter coffee with a little bit of chocolate. However, I can't feel too bad that this scent didn't work for me--Velvet and Bliss are a tough act to follow.
