Almonds!! and Rum!! Baron Samedi is a lovely almond scent that's laced with rum. I was thinking of my guy when I swapped for this, but I think he'll find it too sweet for him (confirmed; he thought it smelled like bananas). In time, the blend mellows to a spiced almond scent. But, when comparing it against Eclipse, maybe I'm not giving the rum enough credit here. This one is nice, but I think I prefer Eclipse (cause it gives me my cinnamon fix).

Definitely pineapple. Warm, ripe pineapple that's been sitting in a sunny window (there's nothing tropical about MN right now). There may also be a floral note and/or some musk, but the strongest impression I get is the pineapple. Baba Yaga is a lovely blend but a little too sweet for me, so it's off to the swaps.

All Night Long reminds me a little bit of Hamadryad. I'm not getting a strong hit of cinnamon, but it's there.. with a dry, woodsy note. I'm not very good at discerning notes--all I can say is that this blend is somewhat light, dry and spicy. And I like it a lot. It's a keeper

While I like it on me, I think O would be too sweet. For mellow sandalwood, I'd say Velvet; for masculine vanilla, I'd recommend Tombstone. Morocco might be another not-too-heavy option. Let me know if you'd like samples--I should be getting an order soon.

Yum. Cookies. Snickerdoodles. Baked to a lovely golden brown. Nobody but Beth could capture the scent of a baked cookie. On me, this is a dry, spicy blend. It smells absolutely delicious (but I can't go out smelling like a cookie). Something about being overweight and smelling like sweets. I can't do it.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Alecto reminds me of Skadi, only leafier. I love them both -
OHMIGOD I don't know how Beth does it, but this scent truly is winter (of the northern variety) in a bottle. I see snow-covered pine trees, laced with strung cranberries. Such a beautiful blend. When I was a kid, my family moved from Minnesota to California. My Mom would have loved a scent like this (she'd like it now, too, but I'm keeping it) Skadi is a crisp, beautiful blend--I love it. I hope this one comes back next year. Thanks Beth and the Labbies

At first sniff - very nice, light floral. I've always been a lover of night-scented stock, so I was really excited to see this blend. B'sides, I love bats When I first put it on, I noticed a hint of lemon and had to go back and read the description. Ahh. Lemon balm. Or maybe it's the lavender that's going lemony on me. My body tends to lemonize lavender. While Chiroptera is a lovely floral blend, it doesn't work well on me. I think I'm going to have to swap this one.

Chaos Theory XXXII - received from Quantum Spice First impressions.. Sandalwood, floral fruit?.. I can see why Inkstone thinks banana--almost banana but not quite (it's on the tip of my tongue…) Right off, I'd describe it as a cool, musky floral. On, the fruity note all but disappears, resulting in a light floral with sandalwood undertones. I can barely detect it on my wrist. This blend seems to stay very close to my skin--not wafting much at all; however, Mike complimented the bit I applied to my hairline. He likes light scents. I'm cold right now, so I look forward to seeing if the scent blooms with warmth. This is a very, very nice scent. Thanks for sharing Quantum Spice

Reading the other reviews, I'm again surprised by the different descriptions. Not certain that this will be a scent that I often wear on my person. I'm getting coconut.. creamy fruit.. pina colada!! Don't get me wrong--it smells really GOOD. I can see this making its way into some very nice bath salts/scrubs.

It's really interesting to me how Beth's scents react so differently on each of us. This is one of the rare scents that lasts all day on me--and doesn't seem to change much from bottle to dry down. Queen Mab is so well blended that I can't even detect a single note. *sigh.. Dark, creamy, floral goodness. On me it's heavy, but not too floral or too sweet. I only apply a drop of this one, and normally I'm a slatherer. One of the few where my guy even says "I like that".

I was telling some folks in chat last night that Gingerbread Poppet was toos strong on something. I thought it was molasses but.. more like sage? If I hold the bottle at arms length, I get the gingerbread everyone else is talking about. So, I'm going to try this again less close to my nose. Famous last words.. "Hon, stick your face down my shirt and tell me what I smell like" Edited to add: End result was that I ended up liking this one (too late, since I had already agreed to a swap). pssst.. kimmer is seeking imps

I'm hoping they'll let me exchange it. If not, I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!! (meant in humor). Seriously though, this scent has Penance written all over it. If they won't take it back, I'll send it to you.

Hmm. The 10ml of (Old) Morocco I received today smells nothing like any of the imps/bottles I'm in love with. This is very woody--almost straight Cedar. No cream, no spice. *sigh If the lab won't fix it, I'll have to send it to Penance. Has anyone else received a wonky Morocco? If it smelled even remotely similar I'd hang onto it to see if it will improve with age. *sigh Off to write the lab.

This scent was released shortly before I joined the forum. I was able to pick up a partial bottle in a swap with Supasonicsage. I had feared that the plum and blackberry would be overpowering and sweet. And while fruit seems to be the strongest note at first, this is not an overly sweet scent. Almost reminiscent of a fresh slice of mango. As the scent dries down, the oakmoss lends a slight green note. The end result is a rich, mildly fruity scent. Very complex. This wasn't a scent I'd have chosen based solely on the description. But when I wear it, I can't stop sniffing my wrist. Another lovely scent from Beth and The Lab. Thank you Supasonic for the generous swap

Right off, Queen of Sheba reminds me of Morocco, but with a little bit of almond. I set her aside for awhile and I'm glad I thought to try this scent on, rather than just sniffing the bottle. This scent strikes me as being warmly spiced almonds. Not sweet--just barely foody; warm and rich. If I had to choose between Queen of Sheba and Morocco, I would choose Morocco simply because my body chemistry turns almond into marzipan (overly sweet marzipan) when I'm active. Queen of Sheba will be a nice "at home" or comfort scent. A 5ml is on order.

I can't even begin to describe this scent. Clean. Green. Slightly sweet but with an acerbic bite? Leaves? Yes. But more like tomato leaf, or geranium? I think it may be geranium? As a child I used to nibble on foliage that reminded me of this. I'll have to garden nibble next spring to satisfy my curiosity. Maybe it's the taste of a fresh, tender pine needle. Alecto is a 180 from the scents I've been choosing lately, but I'm really pleased with how she responds to my body chemistry. 5 ml is on order.

I am so glad I was able to order this before it was discontinued. In the bottle, I detect sweet berries. On, Carnivale develops the sweet spicy carnation note that I have always dreamed of in a carnation scent. The berries are present and merely add to the sweet spiciness. I love this. Carnivale has a good throw, and a little goes a long way. Just a touch in my cleavage provides me with a occasional waft of this delicious scent for an entire day. Hail to the lab!! I love Lush's Potion and have spent many a dollar attempting to find a true carnation scent. I have tried (and enjoyed) the lab's single note carnation; however, Carnivale reminds me of fresh florist's carnations--spicy, sweet, and intoxicating. It will be a sad day when my 10ml (not yet received) is empty.

I purchased a 10 ml unsniffed and received an imp from Phaedrine. I love spicy, so I gotta love this, right? In the bottle: Woo! Cloves!! Definite hit of spice. I'll have to try this in a diffuser. On, I'm able to detect a bit of cinnamon, but I'm still getting mainly clove. This one reminds me of Lush's Wiccy Magic massage bar (rather than Skinny Dip), neither of which I use for scent alone. In time, the scent mellows considerably. Nice. But it needs a little more--sweetness? I will have to try layering to see what I can come up with.

Osmanthus (I had to look it up because I love Queen Mab) is Tea Olive. It shouldn't (?) be a green note. I've got a big bottle on order too--I'm wondering if this is one of those that is best as the scent ages or blends? The Queen Mab I have in imps is a rich, creamy, luscious floral. I don't generally do florals, but the Queen is *good* Notice how I even describe florals in food terms?? *sigh* -
I recommended Tombstone. I think it's appropriate for an interview being that it's not overly strong or overly sweet, and it stays near your person. I find it to be a calming scent as well. Good luck on the interview K

No new suggestions but I definitely agree re: the chocolate scents. I've got a spare imp of Bliss if you'd like it. -
In the bottle Ahathoor is light and somewhat spicy. Wet it seems to be the same. Light, spicy. Very pleasant. As it dries, the scent deepens. I can't detect any specific notes, but it's warm and smoky. Almost incensey, but not in an overpowering way. Nice. I like it alot. Another lovely scent from the lab

Definitely autumnal. Just out of the bottle I get wind and leaves and a bit of apple. Almost like walking outdoors on a crisp fall day. Initially I smell leaves and mellow apple. "Leaves" perfume? Only from *our* lab. <contented sigh> On my wrists this scent became powdery. I will have to give it a few more tries. In the cleavage and along my nape. I so want this one to work with me.

Velvet Oh my god this is beautiful. In the bottle I get pure cocoa. Not sweet, but warm and rich. As it warms to my skin, the vanilla and sandalwood start to come forward, resulting in one of the sexiest scents I've ever owned. What a lovely combination. Naked flesh under a velvet comforter. I need a big bottle.
