2022: this year‘s blend is the usual beautiful Samhain we all know and love, but somehow a little mellower? I don’t know how to describe it, but I have many different Samhains and this one goes on slightly less sharp than many of them do. (And that’s not a read; I love Samhain in any form.) There is also a decidedly soft cacao note laying in the dry down - even my coworker asked if I was wearing something that was “fall spices and chocolate”. This is the first time I’ve noticed that note in a Samhain blend and it’s a lovely addition. If you already love Samhain, obviously you gotta get this year’s. If you have never tried it, this might be a great way to introduce yourself to its beauty.

I had tested this a little on Saturday fresh from the mail and knew I liked it, but a couple days of mellowing has only made it better! It’s champagne, it’s pumpkin spice, it’s a little bit of cheesecake. Love it. While wearing this, somebody did ask “what’s that scent, it’s like…Halloween? But a candle?” I agree with the review above that if you love the lab’s Champagne note, you definitely need this.

High-end, classy Honey Nut Cheerios. I’m not mad about it. I dub this a great “summer foodie” scent because it’s not too strong and would be refreshing on a hot day, but it’s still got that nice foodie kick.

OMG I’m in love. This is so dreamy and a wonderful summer scent. Gorgeous fig and coconut cream…it’s sweet without skewing into suntan lotion - though I love that too - just breezy and beautiful and has a touch of a candy note. I got a decant and can’t order a full size fast enough.

Coconut, Smoked Vanilla & Fig
frizzlechicken replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this one yet! Simply put it is the perfect summer scent and I always reach for it when the weather is very hot. No one note dominates on my skin; I get an excellent blend of the coconut, vanilla, and the fig. It is truly evocative of a tropical beach and cooling breezes. -
This is fresh out of the mail and I couldn’t resist trying it. it is already incredible. It’s like a beautiful mashup of Peach Vulva & Vanilla Wafers and Peach Cream. The magnolias aren’t overpowering but they do lend a beautiful summary floral feel. The coconut milk & fig are both gentle and no one note is screeching over the other. I agree that there’s a slight ice cream feel, but it’s not foodie. I can only imagine how beautifully this will age, but as it stands now it’s already a perfect blend and I will be wearing it a lot this summer!

Amor, To Show That He Was Pleased, Approvingly (In Silence) Sneezed
frizzlechicken replied to Seajewel's topic in Lupercalia
This is delightful, it is lemon vanilla cream with a slightly fruity candied undertone that I’d almost call Jell-O. I also get some faint whiffs of coconut. I really love it. -
One of Lilith’s and my favorite pastimes is climbing up tall buildings and scaring Beth. This photo was taken at the Cathedral in Berlin and the whole time, Beth was yelling “Be careful!” and “I can’t look!” Frosted gingerbread and frosted patchouli. One of two blind bottles I bought from the Yuletide with Lilith release, and sure glad I did. This is heavenly. It is an incredible mix of Gingerbread, Patchouli, and what to my nose is the “Frostbitten” note from this year’s Yules. That’s pretty much all I get from it, but that’s great!! It’s delicious and comforting and not too strong or overpowering. I wore it both in my locket and on my wrists. The wrists have settled to a soft frozen patchouli spice after many hours. If you like any of those notes you definitely have to try this.

Opening the bottle I got a blast of honey?! Upon application though it’s all lotus, which made me a little nervous (like it was going to be far more floral than I anticipated.) However, that faded and the familiar candle smoke/beeswax scent appeared. As the day wore on this morphed into something that reminded me of a spring version of Endless Corridors or Bloody Corridors, which I guess must be the smoke note. I never detected the Amber. The overall scent is soft and not overpowering.

Vanilla Husk, Nutmeg, & Hay Absolute
frizzlechicken replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Wow wow wow this is amazing. It’s a real mashup of Antique Lace and Rendezvous with Her Lover Behind the Rice Straws and Hay Moon…with the nutmeg adding a little bit of smokiness. Divine. -
Freshly applied, this is a soft lemon cream. As it dries, the amber and musk become more prominent. It’s a gorgeous blend; simple, not overpowering, just left me continually thinking “damn I smell good!”

This is lovely. I am mainly getting cacao with a slight bit of amber and an undertone of dirt and chalk dust which is keeping it from being too sweet. It’s reminding me of the same family as scents like Muddy Armadillo and Psalm 146:9, so if you like those you’ll love this. I blind bottled it and am glad I did.

The first Christmas market that we visited in Berlin was at Potsdamer Platz. We were completely wiped from the day of travel from Salzburg, but we were stubbornly determined to at least step into the market before collapsing into bed. The scent of brightly frosted lebkuchen, warm mutzenmandeln, and chocolate-drizzled, marzipan filled schneeballen. I don’t know how to adequately describe how much I love this. It’s a blast of chocolate similar to Gelt, but with a warm cheesecake-y dough-y cupcake-y spice added in. It doesn’t morph much from application to dry down; a slightly pretzel-nutty note is the only thing that fades. It’s incredibly comforting and delicious. I typically don’t wear a scent two days in a row (just because I have so many to choose from and I love variety) but I’ve worn this 3 days in a row now since it arrived. It’s that good! This will be a backup bottle buy for sure.

This is weird!!! It’s like a minty lemon creme bleu cheese. I’m not sure why I’m getting the bleu cheese note but I am. Now don’t get me wrong - I like this! But it’s definitely - as the reviewer above called it - absurd! I’ll be interested to see how this is in a few weeks.

Smoky band-aids on a cold winter’s day. This sort of thing is my jam so I will likely upgrade to a full bottle. If you love the Lab’s smoky stuff this is a must-try.

Me upon opening the decant: why the heck didn’t I just blind bottle this? Me checking the notes: oh right Saffron can go either way for me. Luckily here it’s blending well. This is a gorgeous, delicious blend of warm gingerbread, clove, and pecan. There’s also a subtle hint of holiday spices reminiscent of Mincemeat Pie. This is gorgeous and 100% will be a full bottle upgrade.
-
A nice light lemon, maybe a teeny bit of vodka? It’s not too sugary, not too cologne-y either. I don’t get much Gingerbread but I really love the lemon notes I’m getting. May upgrade to a bottle; I think this will actually be an amazing summer scent.

I love this. It is equal parts a gentle cologne, gingerbread, and whatever gives Ghost Milk the non-milk notes (the vanilla cashmere, I think?) None of the named notes dominate, the cologne-ness isn’t TOO much, and the gingerbread gives it a warm holiday feel. I have worn it two days in a row now because I love it. It’s like a sophisticated, non-foodie Christmas perfume.

This smells like a Christmas spiced cheesecake. So good!!!

Ok wow so I almost skipped this because I was nervous about the “acid” part, but I finally bought a partial and it is divine. I get the lab’s delicious Butterscotch note combined with a slight booze (not heavy) and a spiced Cardamom. I love it and am so glad I didn’t miss this one!

Sometimes sandalwood and my skin don’t mix, but this one is lovely. The amber and sandalwood are light, beautiful, warm, comforting, and there’s a slight “smoky” quality about it. Maybe smoke isn’t the right word…but like, a slightly resin-y scent, almost like those little rosin bags you use to powder your hands when bowling. I got a decant of this and will upgrade to a bottle.
-
Oh yum I love this! At first it’s a blast of coconut lavender hazelnut. After an hour the sandalwood peeks out and blends in. It’s an elegant foodie scent.
-
This is an extremely elegant scent, all of the notes are present and very well-blended. No one note dominates over the other on me. This smells like a super high-end cologne. I like it a lot and may consider a full size bottle to share with my spouse.
-
At first this was all fresh-cut bell pepper and a little bit of cologne. Now it’s settling and I am finding it the most compellingly strange blend and I mean that as a compliment. There’s still bell peppers and some crunchy leaves out of the gate, but also a lot of fizzy champagne. As it dries down the champagne comes out more. I love the lab’s champagne note so that’s a win for me. This blend is totally weird and I love it.
