Obtained 2 bottles by accident, but that's awesome cuz this one will be amazing aged. It smells like powdered woods, sweet & airy, but something golden & warm about it grounds it too. That's probably the sage. It's gentle & comforting. I'd love to smell this on someone else when hugging them! Might have to turn some into a spray for my pillows.

I think I bought my bottle in 2019. Put some on tonight. Thought I had reviewed this one! Anyways. It's aged to a nice, syrupy, sweet, red musk, & sandalwood. The Rosewood is so lovely too. & the Amber lends just enough warmth. This is very sweet & herbal, with the faintness of Rosewood, which is a unique scent itself, making this one of the BPAL's I crave sometimes, but only wear on special occasions. This is my go to for elegance, all black, or Fall weather mood. So much of this scent as a whole is similar to the Lab's dark vegetal musk note. I think I'd put it in my list of top 10.

I get compliments on this one all the time! When I first smelled it I said, "this is hippie headshop, a witchcraft store!" & I let my mom smell, she agreed. One day I was walking thru the store & the manager stopped me & said, "what is that you're wearing? You always smell so good when you come in here!" Of course, I cannot pronounce this blend's name & I couldn't remember, but I name dropped Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. Even the last manager of the same store would compliment me. & I even gave her some free imp ears! I hope I get y'all more customers. I'm glad to have 2 bottles cuz my first is half used already! It's my go to. Smells like incense without the smoke, floral just enough, rich, toasty, spiced, & Magickal. 💖

My favorite #1 BPAL. I was explaining orchids to my kids & told them about my favorite BPAL. Didn't mention the name tho. Lol I put a cap dab on my 7 year old & he loves it. My 5 year old can't stop sniffing & giggling! Even now at bedtime he is still laughing & loving it!

This smells rich & luxurious, like an expensive bath wash or spray. Impressions of a powder room where the ladies have been using powder-puffs for make-up, & spraying perfumes around. The myrrh here isn't resinous, but powdery & airy. The vetiver gives it a fresh green, slight wood scent. Combined with the myrrh, this will definitely age nicely & get syrupy. After it has faded, the vetiver retreats, & I'm left with powdery myrrh again. Delightful. ☺️

Ah yes, just as listed, I smell it all. Fresh pine needles, not too strong yet boozy sake, & that interesting melting snow note. How do they do it? I guess we'll never know. 😜 Smells the same wet, & dry. Dominate pine blending well with sake, & wet ("minty" I guess?) snow. This will be a summer favorite!

2022 edition. It's cushy, warm, & strong! I only applied two cap dabs & it is enveloping me now. Leather & honey turns out to be a fabulous combo! I see mention of red musk, perhaps that's what is slowly transforming this. Glad I finally grabbed a bottle after seeing it since I started collecting. I think I will enjoy wearing this during fall & winter.

This is a fun one! It isn't all floral, but rather metallic, & I kind of get a remembrance of the saffron note in another BPAL. This is gleaming & electric, sharp & sparkly. My mind sees a field of metallic flowers glittering, with a blinding shine from the sunlight. This is the 2nd time I've encountered aldehyde so I'm having trouble explaining what it exactly smells like to me, but overall this scent is like a pleasant combo of metal shavings with a slight floral aldehyde. I'd classify this in the cologne category rather than perfume.

This is quite an enjoyable floral, different than most. I agree it has a slight medicinal & a hint waxy scent to it. It isn't too rosey either, which I enjoy. Myrrh, ylang ylang, & rose otto all smell up front. After it fades it turns cedarwood & lemon.

I had to buy a bottle after I received an imp from a swap. Like I said, it's an explosion. Even tho it says, "Woman as Dragon", it is totally unisex. Right out of the bottle wet it is ginger root, & earthy, pleasant & gritty-smelling almost. The red musk, & patchouli with a pink peppercorn hit is quite nice, too; a great combo. The dragon's blood resin smells amazing, & I wonder how the lab does this. As far as I know, dragon's blood resin as an oil is scentless, so this must be a lovely secret bouquet recipe, In My Opinion. I cannot distinguish the other notes without reading the list. I really love this scent. It radiates power & focus. I think this is in my top 5 favorites!

This is my 2nd bottle, 2022, not sure how long the lab has mother bottles, but I label this as "born 2022". My first bottle was bought 2018 with my 1st ever purchase from BPAL. I enjoy supporting this small business. So, onto the review! My 1st bottle was Pine dominate, however this one is a nice balance with the Juniper & Musk. When wearing the first bottle, I once heard someone say they smelled Pine-Sol. No, no, honey. It's a beautiful & fresh, deep scent. This 2nd bottle is foresty, slightly dank, all dewy conifers with a murky musk. As it fades the pine comes back on top. It has medium throw & length. Again, I'd suggest this to the males collecting these oils. Thank you, BPAL, for the great experiences! 🥰

I bought a 2nd bottle for back-up. This one has a kick, compared to my 1st bottle. As I said in my initial post, it starts off milky, & toasty, then turns spicy incense. I get a faint whiff of our dearest Rose note at the end. I feel like this one is a real hit, & you shouldn't pass on owning a bottle. I mostly bought a 2nd bottle because my also wife enjoys it so much! She uses it in her diffuser necklace.

Olibanum, Australian Sandalwood, & Blue Tansy
Rane. replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I wasn't sure what to expect. Olibanum is a type of frankincense, & it doesn't have much depth or impression when I've encountered it from BPAL. But this one smells nice, sweet, & almost like smoke from the resin smoldering on a coal. Sandalwood has been hit or miss for me, bought way too much sandalwood incense in the past & burnt myself out. BUT this Australian Sandalwood is rich, warm, & "fuzzy", like the person above me mentioned. As for the Blue Tansy, this is my first encounter. I know it's kind of expensive too. It adds a nice crisp & light floral, & also seems to be the final impression after it's faded. Overall, this is a lovely blend, & I'm glad I bought it even tho I was scared I wouldn't like it. Has a medium throw & doesn't seem to last long tho. -
I've used this in a couple of money spells, & it works for me. I'll share with you the things I've done. Put a drop on any note of currency, then keep it in your wallet/purse/pocket. I've also made a sugar jar (to attract sweet things) with rice, salt, some coins, a metal pentacle, & a few drops of this oil. Shake it while thinking about blessings, & keep it in a hidden place. I've worn this a few times, too. Very strong patchouli, with spikenard singing loudly, & the sages give it some spice. I got a sniff down from 3 women at the register once when wearing this... I felt so awkward, & it's probably why I don't wear this much anymore too, but it attracts the old school patchouli lovers, & I mean it draws them in closely! I also could have sworn marigold was in this, but I must be confusing my scents.

My bottle is 2020 edition. After all this time it has become thick, syrupy, slippery, with an almost cherry-like overall smell. That must be the rich myrrh & resinous frankincense notes playing together wonderfully. It has lost its incense smell, strengthened, & taken a turn for something lovely.

It finally happened. It matured enough to make a stand out impression. Grey musk, toasty grey sandalwood, & a little labdanum to sweeten it all up. Like I said before, it is shroud-like, clings close to the body/low throw. It's a gorgeous, foggy, dewy day impression. As the person above me said, "a unique atmospheric fuzzy feel". 🤍

Took me a while to find this post! For a moment I thought I had a long lost imp. Lol The scent is rich, & deep. First impression is slightly toasty sandalwood. I don't think having an imp allows it to play out. I'll have to buy a bottle & age it. At the end of it I smell cinnamon. The patchouli is very faint. I like it!
-
Received as an imp. A very light scent. I can't make out individual notes. I think I'll need to buy a full bottle to get the best experience. I get slight clove, one hidden violet flower. As for the incense, I get a little. Tonka bean I'm not familiar with, but have heard it is like vanilla. I don't pick that up when sniffing my arm.
-
I'm intrigued by this imp. I want more. It has all great notes. The "chewy tobacco" I was hoping for a gentle smell that would remind me of my great grandfather with his pipe. I don't get that, but this is still a lovely blend. As it fades I get the golden amber & nutmeg. Well, I just might have to buy a bottle.
-
So simple, so delicate, so elegant. The patchouli is raw & rooty smelling. The orange blossom takes lead however, & then some gentle spice from the carnation. Needless to say, the ambergris amps up everything here. I think I would like to wear this coming Spring.
-
This is a gorgeous scent, & it smells like a hippie shop. It starts out slightly toasty, & milky, carnation murmurs, then slowly becomes the spiced Scherezade. That's the incense/hippie coming forward. Finally, the faintest of Rakshasa. It's interesting how this one plays in the nose. This turducken concept was fun & led to an interesting scent profile. Much love to BPAL.

Sweet Patchouli, Labdanum & Ylang Ylang
Rane. replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I obtained a 2nd bottle via swap. This one smells more funky-poo sweet patchouli, woody labdanum, & the Ylang Ylang lends a little sweetness. This bottle isn't as strong as my first one. -
Received as an imp swap. I don't get the full experience, but this is a light & airy blend. I don't pick up much, honestly. The myrrh is very soft, & I'm getting the slightest herbs. Perhaps I've went nose blind from sniffing too much. I will probably come back to review this again.
-
I thought I left a review for this. 2021, it has a sharp smell to it. Probably the amber & jasmine dancing together. The peppercorn really amps this up. Neroli & myrrh smoke is very faint. I want more for this, but am probably going to trade it.
-
It is a delicious smell. Bitter almond blending with a small drop of cinnamon, & vanilla. Frankincense lends a delicious smell too. As for Heliotrope, she is there singing, just not too loudly. I would probably buy my wife a bottle of this since she enjoys almond blends.
