oh hellcat, how i love thee! i recoiled from the imp in horror when i first sniffed it. it came in my first ever bpal order and i was overwhelmed. i love hellcat because i can almost see the layers. it looks like caramel and chestnuts and nougat and mahogany. it has incredible staying power and transforms from a wet boozey treat to a cloying dusty spicey aftertaste. it's immensely comforting and insanely satisfying. love. lovelovelove.

this scent is so heavy. the dragon's blood pops out first, of course, followed closely by the musk. i was wearing this for the first time in a while today and while i couldn't remember what all the notes were in the description, i picked up what i thought to be an animalistic tone. (my nose is slowly becoming more trained. ) in retrospect i assume that's the vetiver. unless i have vetiver confused with something else. okay, this isn't an everyday scent. it's sexy in a primal rather than flirtatious way. i wore it to a concert a couple weeks ago when i was feeling sick to my stomach and it did Not help that situation in any way. but i felt compelled to wear it to work today, to stave off the cold damp weather we're having, and it's beautiful and cloying and makes me feel closed off in a personal sensual world. if that makes sense. the cinnamon doesn't overpower anything and blends in with the other spices. this is a blend to use sparingly, but it's incredibly powerful and full of dark energy.

i received this imp as a sample with my first order and wasn't impressed right off the bat. i used most of it as a room scent, which was utterly lovely, and now i'm sorry i didn't dole it out more. it's certainly grown on me. dragon's blood resin seems to be a sure-fire hit for me, and amber works in certain blends. this one is gorgeous and light and perfect for layering with other things that might benefit from a hint of spice. it's lovely with the blue lilac single note. it's perfect for when i want a quieter dragon's blood. almost like bloodlust lite.

Orchid, white musk, and bergamot wafting over juniper berries, with a gentle touch of soft, earthy patchouli. i'm going to post my review before reading the other ones, because i remember ordering this scent based on reviews and it's confusing me. this smells like lemon. acrid, artificial lemon straight out of the bottle. like pledge or some other cleaning supply. i get none of the florals and certainly none of the patchuli. upon re-reading the description i almost wonder if i got something else by mistake. it warms up a bit upon wearing it for a while. becomes sunny and bright, might make a nice room scent. but it's too strong and lemony for me, which is too bad because i was hoping to really like this one. i am utterly bemused by it.

this smells like grass in the bottle. citrusy grass. it sort of deepens into a fresh pine when applied, but not in a fake air freshener kind of way. this scent is very fresh. i can tell there are layers but i'm not sure what they are. it's also very subtle on me. i'm having a difficult time smelling it even though i doused quite liberally. it *does* smell like a meadow on a fresh, sunny day. there's a bit of darkness there, it's not simple. it's also not quite for me. i might wear it at home sometimes if i want a pick-me-up, but it's not something i'd wear elsewhere. the dry down is quite nice, actually. like wet crushed grass, only not so bitter.

hello! i got sucked into the update madness yesterday and placed a huge order, including two sets of imps. when i placed my first order back in august there were special boxes for listing which imps i wanted to receive. those boxes weren't there this time so i listed my imp choices in the "notes/instructions" box. i just wanted to check that this was the right thing to do, since i am SO looking forward to the imps i requested. andrea

i had very high hopes for this scent and i think it's lived up to them. i was particularly looking for something to wear to bed, something that would help me sleep and put me in a different mindset. other people have done a fantastic job of describing the images this scent evokes. it has this deep yet light forest feel. like sunlight shinging through thin new leaves in spring. it smells like spring and stillness and small movements in a glade somewhere. unicorn indeed. it fades quickly so i slathered it on quite liberally before going to bed. it sweetened overnight and in the morning smelled almost fruity and not quite as delicate. probably mixed up with my sweat as i was sleeping. i'm very curious to try mixing this with blue lilac. it's a mentally thematic idea more than an olfactory one, but i hope it works. ("the unicorn lived in a lilac wood and she lived all alone...") there is certainly a big bottle of this in my future. a.

okay, this is my first review. this is also the first bpal scent i've taken on to wear at work all day. it's going to be in the 80s today and this is making me wish for 20 degrees cooler. it's an autumn smell. people have mentioned cinnamon but i don't really smell it. yes, it's spicy, but in the way that mulled wine is spicy. i think i'm going to be a big fan of dragon's blood resin - it's such a warm, comforting smell on me. i have no idea where the wood and other notes are - my nose is not yet skilled enough to pick them out! but i can't stop sniffing my wrists, which isn't going to go over well at the reception desk, and i love the way this scent sort of closes in around me. it's masculine, yet fragile, if that makes sense.
