    Scene with Witches

I'm really digging this. It smells like the concept of gray silk to me; very smooth and cool and sheer. The smoked ambergris is not "smoky" in a woodsmoke way. It's serene and gauzy and reminds me a bit of the stony concrete note in Summer Rain; it isn't as sweet as the ambergris in say Lyonesse. I think the incense note might be sandalwood or myrrh? But it's very light and I notice the cotton more. I'm also not picking out the herbs as anything very distinguishable, but maybe there's white sage here? Overall, this is not a sweet nor a dark scent. Good throw. It veers a little toward clean-laundry smell, like fresh clean sheets in a cool breeze, so people sensitive to dryer sheet vibes might not be into it. But I'm in love with its silky, airy texture. It's the scent equivalent of putting on a transparent, silvery silk scarf on a crisp fall evening.

    Cherry Red

Sugary, somewhat tart, bright red cherry candy. It reminds me a lot of the smell of a cherry tootsie pop. Very nice!

    Teenagering

I almost passed on this one because I already have Sugar Cookie Peacock Queen and a lot of carnation scents. I'm really glad I got it anyway! First on, it's sweet and vanillic, almost bubblegummy. Then the sugar and spice come out, glorious clove-like pink carnation, backed by silky pink rose petals. I'd definitely recommend this for fans of Alice and High-Strung Daisies, and I like this better than both!

Spoopy Kid Assaulted by a Sunbeam

I agree this is patchouli forward. It's a gorgeous patch reminiscent of the woody, chewy, almost chocolatey patch in Banshee Beat/Revenant Rhythm and Silky Bat. The sweeter notes back it up and make it pop. I notice the vanilla ice cream, cotton candy, and honeysuckle as the scent dries down, which are super pretty together. As a honeysuckle fanatic I wish that note was a little more forward, but I'm really happy with this overall.

    First Day of High School

Sampled my sister's bottle. I really like this one; it starts strong with a gorgeous, hazy lavender sugar note and bright red apple. To my nose, the mandarin adds to the fruitiness of the apple, but I've never been that good at picking mandarin out. The resins, chypre, and vanilla musk take over on the dry down, though the apple remains throughout. Overall, it's a perfumey, sophisticated apple that balances fruity sweetness with sharper notes in a pretty way.

    Ceres

Corn puff cereal, but make it perfume. I love blush amber and sugar notes (the combination here reminds me a little of Round Dance, though they are different on the whole), and the hay-ish wheat note balances with everything else in a very satisfying way. This is unusual, pretty, and cozy.

    Margaret Magdalena Muffinhead

This is so nice. At first it's all warm fudge brownie, then the coffee comes out and adds even more depth. I notice the cardamom and amber more on the dry down, and eventually this settles into a lovely gourmand vanilla with wisps of coffee and spice. This will definitely be a crowd pleaser.

    Neutral Tones

Gorgeous ambergris. The cognac sweetens it a little and the sage is a grounding earthy note that reminds me of that in Eve With Sage. The ambergris is the star on me, though, which is a win because the Lab's ambergris is so lovely but can be overshadowed in more "busy" blends. I see the resemblance to Grey Columns, though that one is more sweet/vanillic and this one more . . . petrichor ish, almost. Edit: wish I got a backup bottle of this.

    Constellation

This is a gorgeous amber blend. It reminds me a lot of the Black Amber & Sugarcane duet, except I think I like it even better. This amber is deep, dark, velvety, almost a little musky, and the sugared clove is this sparkly sheen of spicy-sweetness. Unrested and unaged, the throw and longevity aren't that strong, but ambers always age well (and even if it stays as a sexy skin scent, I'm fine with it!). I might have to pick up a second bottle so I can slather with abandon. If you fell in love with Black Amber & Sugarcane or wanted to try it, and you also like clove, I definitely recommend this!

From Whose Eyes As They Glance Flowed Love

This is perhaps the creamiest vanilla-rose scent I've tried! Definitely Katrina Van Tassel adjacent, so if that's one you've been pining for, definitely give From Whose Eyes As They Glance Flowed Love a try. This goes on with a dewy, gentle rose, and as it wears the sugar, whipped vanilla, and skin musk come to the front and the rose recedes. The lasting scent is a glowing your-skin-but-better vanilla. I really enjoy these skin musk/floral/vanilla blends (in the same family as Like the Very Gods and On Wednesday, I Will Promise You a Phantom), and this is an utterly gorgeous addition to that family.

A Robe All Red With Dripping Gore

Oooh, I'm getting lots of red amber! The red musk, while present, is more like the type in Red Ribbon that is sugared and doesn't take over everything. The honey is kind of sweet and powdery and the saffron adds a bit of a bitter edge on the dry down. Another lovely addition to the sweetened red musk blends.

    Unarmed and Laughing

This is very pretty; a sparkling vanilla amber with the Lab's bright champagne note. It reminds me a lot of Champagne Lace. Will be great for everyday wear.

    Queen of Elphame

To me, this seems in the same family as The Girl, Ava, and I Sit and Sew. It has a few similarities to Woman at the Edge of the Woods as well, though this is less earthy. Overall, this is a very sheer, ethereal "green" vanilla, with a light backdrop of jasmine and lily of the valley. I get more vanilla and yew than plum, but maybe I will detect that more at some point. Quite lovely and faery like.

    White Clover, Elderflower, and Apple

This is really beautiful. 💚 It's a crisp, perfumey apple (like the apple in Honeyed Apple IMO) with a backdrop of fresh clover and bright elderflower. It makes me think of rolling around in a clover field or a fairy circle or something; I definitely recommend if you like the notes.🍀🍏

    The Fairy Lovers

This is really, really pretty. 😍 The gardenia and moonflower have that creamy narcotic floral quality, and it blends so beautifully with the vanilla and crimson labdanum (which kind of has a red musk ish quality but . . . not musky, not so overpowering). The amber and moss kind of skew it toward a more classic floral perfume on the dry down, but it retains that dewy moonlit floral vibe. The rose is more detectable to me on the dry down too, but this never really strikes me as a rose forward perfume, it's just there supporting the other notes. It reminds me of The Last Unicorn, but is less earthy and more floral. Really happy to have a bottle.

    An Assortment of Spring Pleasures

I enjoy this a lot. It's a really nice lightly honeyed tea scent, though I also smell peony rather than cocoa. I just got an imp of Dormouse and agree that it's similar to that, though this is more "fresh/clean" than herbal.

    Rain Scents

Another new one I really like is A Wet Moon, Putney Road (Rain-slick amber, gaslight, and moss).

    Spring’s Awakening (The Snow Maidens)

The Lab's slushy snow note with a very pretty bunch of dewy white florals. The florals, at least at this point, are not sharp or indolic, but tempered by the snow. It captures the artwork and theme quite well, though I don't think I'd wear this enough to upgrade to a bottle (even though I adore the artwork).

    Labdanum, Red Musk, Scorched Vanilla

This is lovely! 😍 It's a very sweet, smooth red musk with a sweet labdanum (not the sour kind) and a gorgeous vanilla. The scorched vanilla note is a little ethereal, in that it's not very strong (not like butterscotch or caramel or smoke), but does have a lightly scorched scent . . . Kind of like a lightly charred marshmallow but without the mallow. The vanilla weaves in and out of the scent, subtle but bolstering the sweetness of the other notes.

    Ice Age Baton

Another gorgeous vanilla scent; the Lab has been on a roll lately with them! (Not that they haven't been before, it just seems like I've been falling in love with an inordinate amount lately). This one is kind of like the beautiful medium between Zorya P and Muddy Armadillo, both of which I love. Like Zorya P, this has an ethereal vanilla quality, though in a more powdery (chalky) way, with a sweet tobacco dancing underneath. The cacao is soft, deep, and earthy, and makes me think of something delicious baking in the distance without skewing the scent gourmand. The cacao isn't as thick or sludgey as in Muddy Armadillo, and the tobacco plays a lighter hand as well here. Ice Age Baton settles into a pretty, powdery, aura like skin scent after an hour or so, which makes it one I'll probably be able to wear to the office without fear of it being overpowering or overly identifiable as perfume. Edit: I haven't had this change much with rest so far; just wanted to note that I'm not getting the harsh metallic qualities others are . . . I find this soft vanilla with powdery chocolate. I'm not sure if this means there was a batch variation or if my sniffer just enjoys whichever thing isn't working for some. 🤔

Milk, Burnt Honey, And Ambrette Seed

When I first got this, it was all caramelized honey on me, which was nice but similar to other scents I have. However, after some rest the milk and ambrette seed are blossoming and mingling with the honey in gorgeous ways. The milk note is similar to the one in Snake Milk, smooth and non-sour, and the ambrette gives it an almost malted shake quality without being too gourmand. I think the ambrette really adds something special to the mix.

    Almond Blossoms

Wet, this is a marzipan-like, cherry-ish blast of almond, but this quickly recedes as it dries. Then it's a very delicate almond blossom, almost like an almond blossom musk, and a lovely cream note that feels almost toasted due to the almond. At the moment it wears pretty close to the skin, but I catch lovely wafts of it here and there. If you're an almond fan, you can't really go wrong with this one.

    Snake Milk

This has that heady, spicy vanilla Snake Oil thing going on but also a delicious smooth, sugared milk note that doesn't go sour on me at all. The comparison to creme brulee is spot on. I'm in the camp of enjoying Snake Oil but not being obsessed with it, but this is definitely one of my favorite iterations of it. I already put a rare backup bottle in my cart.

Strawberries, Red Musk, and May Rose

This is a candy-sweet strawberry red musk blend with a hint of dewy rose. Kind of like a sugared strawberry incense next to some rose petals. Very pretty!

    Vanilla Bean, Marshmallow, and Benzoin

Poofy vanilla marshmallow. Simple but very appealing. It starts out with a cereal marshmallow type smell, then the benzoin comes out and gives it some depth and that delightful hits-in-the-back-of-your-nose feel from TKO and Place of Seeing (at least to me). It doesn't have a ton of throw or longevity on me so far, but aging might very well help with that. I'm glad to have a bottle!
