In the imp: Impossibly sweet, without being sticky. So light and airy, I'm sure it will melt off my skin in seconds. Wet: Something refreshing and crisp comes through, at first with an edge of flowers, but then it starts smelling a bit like green apples. (Maybe an effect of the herbs?) Dry down: The apple flavor melts away, and flowers come to the front. I don't know what linden smells like, but this reminds me of the lily of the valley I used to play in as a child. The throw is very short, only a few inches off my wrist. It fades more quickly than some things, but four hours later, I can still smell it. I love how soft and delicate this scent is, and that such a scent doesn't immediately disappear on me. I knew I would keep the imp, just as a pick-me-up to be sniffed out of the tiny bottle, but I actually might go for a big bottle of this some day, now that I know I can wear it.

I ordered this one by name alone, and I am so glad I did. It went from my first imp purchase to being my first bottle purchase, and the only scent I wear regularly. In the imp/bottle: I definitely smell the rose, which is a good, fresh rose scent, not the powdery or heavy blown rose of so many body products. Just under the rose are other florals, and a tiny bit of something green and spicy. Wet: The rose is unleashed and it whispers around me, while close to my wrist is more of that complex spiciness. I love putting it on, and getting this first wave of powerful scent, though I can't do it at work, because the throw is extreme. Dry down: The swirling veil of rose dies down, and the spicy green comes to the front. There is still a floral note, though it is less obviously rose at this point, just a lingering, fresh sweetness. This scent lasts for hours, well through a work day, and the throw is just long enough that I can smell my wrist at my keyboard, but it doesn't reach my nearest co-worker. This perfume feels very womanly in a fresh, dreamy, elegant way, and I just adore it. I adore every stage it goes through, and am constantly delighted by it.

I thought this one would be a good one to try with my new orange and navy top. (I thought wrong) In the imp: I can smell a little of the warm pumpkin, but on top of it is something almost unpleasantly sharp and green. Maybe that's a top note which will fade and leave just the warm pumpkin. Wet: On no! The sharp green quickly morphs into paint thinner. I try to wait for the dry down, but the smell is so strong and makes me so ill that I have to wash it off. Oh well, I guess this one isn't for me.

In the imp: Sharp, abrasive lemon. Fresh lemon tempered with something that makes it smell like cleaner. Wet: Oh! Lemon and Pine. The two scents blend well, and it is like a lemon scented pinesol, yet different. Maybe there's another element, too elusive for me to name, which adds that "perfume" quality to it. Dry: The lemon softens and takes up second fiddle to the pine, which comes through warm and enveloping. Well, warm, but somehow cool and refreshing. I like this one. It's not something I really need to wear, but I am a little enchanted with it.

In the imp: Rich muskiness with an edge of sweetness. The scents don't quite want to lie together, and they all vie for attention; I can almost smell them fighting tooth and claw as first one makes it to the top and then another. Wet: Still a battle. The sweet blood is completely distinct from the musk, but they are twined together. Dry down: The blood is completely gone, and I am left with only a very heavy musk, which smells more like a fox in heat than a dragon. It smells animal, but it's not like I am the animal, more like I got in the way of something more powerful than me. I am very dissapointed, I really wanted this one to work. New idea: I rubbed the Dragon's Heart into a wooden hair piece. At last! The perfect blend of sweet and musk. When I wear the hairpiece, the scent hovers around me, and I feel empowered, as if the dragon were lending me it's strength. Mmm. I love walking around in this sweet, rich cloud.

In the imp: Anne Bonny smells dry and faintly woody to me. It's like a woodshop or a ship builder's which hasn't been operational in a long time. (A dry one, nothing of damp or mouldering woods here.) Wet: The sandalwood is front and foremost, very sharp. It reminds me of woodchip bedding for small rodents, and I almost wash it off. But I want to like this one, so I leave it on, hoping for some of the dark power that others have experienced. Dry: Still sandalwood, though less like pet bedding. This is very strong, and while it smells like sandalwood up close, a co-worker asks where the Ajax smell is coming from. Nine hours later: Oh, there's the incense, how nice. But then it's gone. All in all, I don't think I'll be wearing this much. Though the intensity of the sandalwood makes it potentially useful for meditation work.
