Dancing Raven

There must be something in here that I am anosmic to. When freshly applied, the scent is so faint I can barely smell it, even with my nose practically pressed against my arm. The same thing happened to me with Schwarzer Mond, and that one had a monster throw after a couple of hours. They don't smell the same to me - just that it started light and ended up having a strong throw. Wet: this is very light. I get cinnamon and a slight dry tobacco scent. Drydown: it is taking on an almost black tea scent. About 25 minutes in, it has gained strength but remains a skin scent. I am still getting cinnamon and black tea, which makes me think there is chamomile in it. Dry: there is a little bit of a musky scent, but mainly it is sweet cinnamon black tea. This is much lighter than I expected, but it smells delicious, so I don't care. Very much a skin scent on me. 4 out of 5 stars. It would have easily been 5 if it would have had a stronger throw.

If you amp tuberose, but don't like it, fair warning that it is tuberose heavy. Wet: fresh, bright plum quickly joined by tuberose. As it begins its drydown, I get a fresh, crisp lily playing peekaboo for a few minutes. I love the smell of calla lilies, but I am highly allergic to them. I didn't stop to think I may be allergic to the oil, but I am definitely getting a skin reaction to it. A carrier oil to decrease its presence may be needed if you are likewise sensitive to it. Drydown: I wish the lily had stayed around, but this is mainly tuberose & it's the kind I love. Buttery smooth and heady. I think the ylang ylang is rounding it out and helping to keep it a sweet and more complex floral, rather than just single note tuberose. 90 minutes in: it becomes much closer to the skin. It remains largely unchanged, but the fresh plum comes out a little more, along with a very faint incense. There must be musk in this because I am getting a very slight powdery/linen scent that sometimes happens when plum and musk blend on my skin. It's far more fresh than powdery (and I amp powder), so powder haters shouldn't worry too much. Dry: the end result for me is a soft, banana bubblegummy tuberose skinscent. I love this type of tuberose scent, and this is definitely beautiful. That being said, I was hoping for more of the lily I had gotten shortly after applying. I was also hoping that the incense would have had more presence. Excellent throw for the first hour or so, then gradually gets closer to the skin. 3 out of 5 stars for me because I wanted more complexity. 5 out of 5 stars if you're looking for a good tuberose scent. P.S. I see some reviews mentioning rose as a note. I amp rose, and I get zero rose scent from this. Rose haters shouldn't fear this one.

This is for the 2020 version Long time lurker, first time poster. I felt compelled to post because there are two notes in this version that seem to be disliked by a fair few. I have never tried the older versions. Wet: the opening is green, and I think I detect a hint of eucalyptus. A slightly sour cherry note is mingling with it. Drydown: Rose! I love rose, and this is a soft, sweet rose (think old fashioned face creams). I do amp rose, so it may just be me. There is the barest hint of green stems. The sour cherry smell remains. About 20 ish minutes in I get an incensey/smoky scent. It's much like placing your face near a metal heater in an older home (the radiator types), very realistic as I actually get the sensation of heat when I inhale close to my skin. I find it rather pleasant, but I also enjoy smelling like dank, musty dungeons, dust, and old books, so take that for what it's worth. I smell something bittersweet like orange rind, and I think there is dragon's blood resin in here because I get lilac (which is how my skin interprets it). 90 minutes in, it gets closer to the skin, but the smoke gets stronger. Now it smells like someone stoking a new fire with fresh branches. 2.5 hours in this takes an unexpected turn. I get a bitter green, almost like a dandelion, and then... powder. I am thinking this is the skin musk representing the sweaty skin. I love powdery notes (good thing, because I amp them to the high heavens!). I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea, however. Once dried this is a very slightly green, powdery smoke on me. Very good throw. Less green than what I had hoped. The fir never really showed up on me. However, I adore it for what it is. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
