This was the winner of the Winter release for me for sure!! It is a soft, almost creamy blue floral. It reads a little sweet to me, too; lilac is the only flower I can pick out (perhaps because it's the only floral in here I'm sure I could recognize anywhere... 😛 ). Beautifully blended and delicate -- reminds me a little of the Hotaru No Yu HG, which I adore. I do have to huff my arm to smell it.

Agreed on the deliciousness of this one when it's wet! It smells like tart candy -- specifically a bit like Nerds -- in the bottle. Wet and for the first few minutes it's juicy and fruity without ever being overpowering or too-sweet. As it dries, it reminds me of a softer cousin of Hunger. Unfortunately on me after it's been on for about an hour this sharp twangy note enters the picture, and it oscillates between the lovely fruit-and-neroli and a cleaning product citrus.

I got this for the tobacco flower note, because it's generally a winner for me! Wet, and for the first 10 minutes, this is "oh no, Big Red Gum" on my skin. It's not quite a blast of cinnamon, but the black pepper is acting a little strange, and it smells a lot like cassia! But once it settles down, it is be-a-u-tiful and blended. The tobacco flower blooms and the cognac and amber smooth everything over, no more cinnamon, just a little tinge of spice. It's definitely a 'tough' scent, and I love that I have a scent that feels badass and also very different from the rest of my collection. This reads like a fall scent to me, but I'll be reaching for it to layer with some of my more sugary ones, too! I put a tiny dab of Snake's Kiss on over it this morning and 😋

I absolutely agree with the above reviewers on this being a very 'golden' scent. It reminds me of summer in the same evocative way Bastet does. It's incensey, but it's a bright, happy, playful incense, not churchy at all. The florals are creamy, well-blended, and very in-the-background. Like someone in Biblical Times got a whiff of this coming off of a departing angel and was inspired to create church incense based on it, but was never quite able to get it right. I've recently discovered how much I love frankincense thanks to Drag is for Everyone, so I've been trying as many frank-heavy scents as I can get my hands on, and this is my favorite of the bunch so far!

Beauty! I did not get the smoke here until well after drydown -- I had the bright, juicy citrusy experience of some of the other people in the thread. But if I take a reaaally deep sniff, there is a little lick of smoke, which is so interesting! I love how the lab does these icy water notes... this one is evocative of chilliness and an icy river without being literal. This reminded me a little of Teakwood, Moss, and Salt, but greener. It's really nicely blended, and leans more cologne-y than atmospheric.

I *love* this! It reminds me very much of another favorite of mine, An Encounter of Three. Where an Encounter of Three has a liqueur-heavy undertone, Personent has a beautiful, smooth incense. They share the same (to my nose) purple fruit notes on top from the purple currants, but there's a woodsiness at the core that prevents PH from going too sweet. The cassia gives it the tiniest kick of spice when it's dry, which is lovely. I'm not picking up very strong smoke or amber notes, but as theshapeshifter noted this is a really well-blended perfume, and I imagine they're contributing to the general richness and depth of it. It's pretty consistent wet to dry, and it has great staying power. Will be getting a full bottle!

Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom & Lemon Peel
rhonorv replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I enjoyed this, somewhat to my surprise, as none of these notes really sing out to me. It read as very perfumey to me, and it was consistent wet to dry -- it's a bright, sunshiney, orange-neroli confection. It doesn't turn powdery on me; it stayed pretty sharp and bright with a medium throw. I didn't get a lot of lemon at all. I totally get torikitty's scent memory -- this is reminds me of a specific Avon Skin So Soft sunblock I had when I was a kid! It's like a pretty perfume version of that 😎 -
I agree that there's a chilliness and a neutral-ness to this! It reminds me of wintertime at the beach. It's decidedly not aquatic or 'wet' smelling to me. It also reminds me of a specific lotion used at nail salons (which I love). Wet it's a cold, tea-laced wood. Like the smell of seaglass. Dry I get a bit more of a camphor-type chilliness over the teakwood. This is really, really nice!

2020 version. There's something shampoo-y about this for me: while wet it alternates between cherry lollipop and cherry shampoo before settling into the latter. I like it as a layering scent (especially with leathery or woody scents!).

This is somethin' else. I was so excited to try it because it sounded weird and a little scary, and I kind of secretly hoped it would smell like the suburban basements of my childhood, which were often graced with old hairballs or mildew-sodden carpets. Well. WELL. I got what I hoped for, too much even. I could not bear to put this on my skin because I am weak and it was close to dinner time, but I dabbed it on a tissue. In the bottle and wet it is mildewed rug and, as lorizav mentioned, old cat puke + not a well-cleaned box in the corner of the room. There's a strong oudh that reminds me of the wham of oudh that I got from Nevertheless She Persisted but with none of the flowers. When dry the indolic-ness calms down a just the tiniest bit, and I do get some of the chalkiness, but I don't smell any grass. I would be super curious to hear what anyone who likes oudh makes of this. I am amazed and horrified.

I was very fortunate to get a decant of this! If Emerald Lace is bright grass-green, this is dark woodsy forest green. I also get a whiff of indole-y sourness (patchouli?) when this is wet on me, but it's not too bad and goes away quickly. The cedar here is different than the BPAL cedars (mostly Shungas) I've tried -- it's like an old, living cedar tree covered in moss rather than a piece of sawn wood. I don't get much cognac from this one, though it gets much sweeter and Lacier as time goes on, until it reminds me of a witchy, herby, gently spiced tea. A really unique one!

In the bottle and wet the leather here is the domininat note, and it's new leather jacket leather. Once it dries it gets so interesting -- I can't pick out the honey, but it smells like a super light your-skin-but-better scent. Something is also reminding me of the smell of my skin after being in chlorinated water; I suppose it's the leather note blended into the rest. I do like this and will probably be reaching for it when I'm back in the office, but I understand how it isn't everyone's cup of tea!

Oh, how cool! These came to mind immediately: The Bow and Crown of Conquest is warm, sexy, leathery androgynous goodness. Nosferatu is a really dark, sexy, earthy wine scent if you want to lean into the vampiness! Bloodlust is a slightly fruity dragon's blood blend that's pretty, but tough. The Isles of Demons smells like tropical flowers and brimstone. Sara Pezzini is bright new leather and skin musk, a little subtler than the rest!

I've gotten a bunch of cherry imps recently, and have enjoyed them more than I thought I would, so I was excited to try this one! Bottle: Sooo close to medicinal cherry chapstick. Uh oh! Wet: Slightly less medicinal and more sugary-candied-cherry-topping. Am not yet in love. Dry: Oh, hello! Here's the cream and sugar. If you want to dip your toe into the cherry-pool, this is a nice, subtle, vanillic cherry.

In the bottle: Phewf, candle-strong pumpkin spice. Wet: This is milkier and calmer on my skin, though it's still a strong pumpkin spice. Dry: Interestingly, this now smells like the crust of a pumpkin pie! Everything has melted together in a very lovely way and the pumpkin is buttery and soft now.

Is this... could it be? An oud my completely unrefined self can wear without feeling like a catbox?? Like biggnerd above me I have yet to meet an oud scent I can happily wear. Until this! It's lovely warm-pie-filling, the nuttiness is lovely and light, and it's not too sweet. Wet: Pie filling, spices, and warmth. Dry: Mainly allspice and clove, and something that makes me keep huffing my wrist (oud?).

Very light, very pretty, very soft. I don't get any tonka, just a lightly musky sweet pea. As others have noted it goes on really light -- I expect it'd be nice if you're in an office or a workplace where you can't wear a heavy perfume! After two hours it was almost gone from my skin. It's like you used a pretty soap (though there's no soapy harshness, thankfully!), rather than a perfume. In fact, it reminds me a bit of the bar soaps that Avon used to make -- it smells clean and innocent.

There are some perfumes I put on and think "ohhh, pretty princess" and this is one of them! It's crisp, heady, powdery lilac and rose petals. A bright, pleasant floral. I don't really get the woods or amber, but given some reviews above, maybe it just needs to age a bit!
-
Beautiful -- the core of this is very similar to the oak note in Druid, but with a light green floral overlay instead of a soft woolen one.
-
In the bottle and wet this is a dripping rich green scent, a smooth, minty-fruity-apple-y juice. It's bam-summery without being too obvious. On me I don't love the dry down -- it becomes a tropical pine scent, vaguely reminiscent of an air freshener my dad uses in his car. At this stage I like it more layered with something (Life the Sculptor Molds Unceasingly is my current favorite pairing)!
-
To me this is an autumnal Bastet (I consider Bastet to be a 'summer'!): comforting incense with the lightest waft of floral -- I don't get the heavy rose or carnation some folks do. A very warm orange grown-up scent.

Looking for Beeswax Recommendations That Don't Have Honey
rhonorv replied to FloridaFledgling's topic in Recommendations
Looks like there’s a new Ménage a Trois that’s Beeswax, Cedarwood, and Bourbon Vanilla @FloridaFledgling! -
This wasn’t what I expected, but it is nice — like some others who posted it seemed like a holy grail scent for me, blackcurrant and blackberry and leather and cade wood. I didn’t get too much leather for the first half hour or so; it was a super sweet, juicy, blackberry drink scent. The leather makes an appearance and mellows it out after that. I think this will be a fun scent to try layering with! It’s a happy, fairly simple one. It reminds me of a spray I had in high school, and I also think it’d be a great scent for someone younger.

Oh my goodness is this beautiful. If I can be so presumptuous, I feel like if there was a lace called Ghost Lace this would be it. It’s a breathy, barely sweet, gorgeous lace with a warm floral undertone. It doesn’t morph too too much over time, but it does seem to warm up and get ever so slightly chai-tea-spicier. It makes me think of getting dressed up to go out to a fancy bar: I get a hint of the cognac as though I was smelling it on someone’s breath, and there’s something that’s juuust slightly powdery, a little like the scent of a nice lipstick. Maybe the ghosts in this house are an elegant couple. Love it, need backups, etc. etc.! If you’re a Lace fan, definitely give this a try.

A plug for Nosferatu if you want to be a little experimental! It's beautifully herby and earthy and not spicy at all. If you want a very 'green'/more floral earthy scent, Arkham is nice. And I love the Samhain scents, which are kind of earthy-sweet!
