This is very rummy and sweet. When I first applied it, it resembled caramel popcorn or coffee to me. The only note I'm not really getting is the ice cream or cheesecake. Otherwise, it's a delicious rum and butterscotch blend. The throw is pretty good, which is a nice bonus. Love it, can't stop sniffing!

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream
fairybites replied to filigree_shadow's topic in Liliths
Right off the bat, I'm getting so much green tea! The other really prominent notes I can detect are the blueberry, vanilla, and currant. It smells like a fruity herbal tea. It is pretty unique and I can't think of anything else to compare this to. There's a very faint hint of the ginger once dry, but overall it's a pretty sweet scent. I think the green tea actually makes this not super foodie? This is amazing if you love tea blends! -
Overprotective Possessed Talking Doll
fairybites replied to cfrancesca's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
I was really looking forward to this since I love collecting toy/doll themed perfumes and I love a good strawberry. The strawberry was basically the only note, the mimosa didn't really appear. In fact, I swore this was a powdery strawberry cake before looking up the notes! I guess that's what over a decade of aging will do to this. Regardless, I do like it and will likely seek an upgrade even though it didn't end up being what I expected. -
As a bitch who loves unicorns, this perfume was made for me! Kidding aside, I agree with the other reviews -- this is so much like Skittles! Except if they were made with the actual juices, not artificial. Mostly got the berries and lime. It's also similar to a sugary fruit punch or Kool-Aid when it's wet. Looove this, happy I've got this decant but I know it's going to be damn near impossible to upgrade.

So I know there's an oil called Black Coffee, I have yet to test my decant so I'm unsure if it's the same black coffee note in both of these. It starts out with the coffee, definitely black. The old books appears more and takes over the coffee with time. The books are yellowed and slightly ink stained to me, combined with the coffee I think it gives the coffee a sort of stale note, or like it's been forgotten in the library. A little bit of leather too, my guess it's black, but it's faint on me. To me, this is similar Mistakonic University but without the creaminess from the Irish coffee. So if you were looking for a less sweet and more bitter/slightly stale coffee note, this might be better.

Dried Strawberries, Red Musk & Bourbon Vanilla
fairybites replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
The strawberry in here is strong and very jam like, or even candy. The closest thing I can compare this to is Rope Pulley from last year's Lupercalia but with an added smokiness from the musk and a touch of booze from the bourbon vanilla. This could almost be a strawberry single note, I wonder if with time the strawberry will mellow out and allow the red musk and bourbon vanilla to be more present. But with all that said, I love strawberry so while it would have been nice to get more bourbon vanilla, I am still a huge fan of this. -
Looots of smoky ginger, red amber, and frankincense. Sulfur is thankfully in the background, I was a little worried it would overshadow most of the notes. The cayenne is also fairly strong as well. I think there might be some type of pepper in here, but I don't see any listed in the notes. I'll be honest and admit that I don't know what damiana is, so I can't tell how much of that is in this blend. The closest BPAL I have tried that resembles this is Woman as Dragon; They both have ginger and red amber, so I would recommend getting that if you can't find this.

This is pretty good! I would say this resembles butterscotch on me more than caramel. Clove doesn't appear much on me, but the bourbon vanilla and coffee are also fairly strong with a subtle patchouli and the oudh in the background. It's like a frappe from your local coffee shop with a slight smokiness to it from the toffee. Love finding a good oudh that ain't stanky!

This smells like I spilled some high end rose perfume on a moss covered freshly dug grave. This is slightly similar to Zombi, but the rose is not as strong and stays closer to the background. Definitely has a slight soapy vibe from the roses. With time, the dirt fades and I'm left with the mossy roses. About three hours later, it's almost completely gone. I do like Zombi more than this, not just for the name but because the rose is more prominent. But it is still a beautiful earthy scent, and would recommend this if you thought Zombi was too floral for you.

This is so stunning and I'm positive my review won't be able to do this justice. Lots of blackberries and dark cherries, but the patchouli and musk makes them not super foodie or sweet on me. There's a little bit of the smoked rose petals and tobacco absolute as it dries down more, but on me it's predominantly the fruits and patch. I'm not terribly familiar with opoponax so I can't tell how much of it is in the blend. It almost reminds me of plums even though that's not one of the notes. A very nice fruity dark scent with a touch of floral. I do wish the vanilla bean was a little stronger on me to sweeten it up a little.

Prior to reviewing this, the only other Harvest Moon I have tested was the 2017 version. If you look at the notes, it doesn't seem like there's a huge difference between the two. '17 has sunflowers and '20 adds grapes pretty much. But they smell so different compared side to side! In '20, the grapes and wine are the strongest notes, I can barely pick out the others. And If this was the first Harvest Moon I tested, I probably wouldn't be able to recognize the similarities between the two. However with the '17 version, and this could be due to aging, but the notes are a lot more clearer. I get the pumpkin, apple, and smoke the most. Maybe with time, 2020's Harvest Moon's wine will have softened considerably and I'll be able to pick out the notes more accurately. Who knows, I could just be amping the wine extra hard and that's why I can't pick out much else. The label for this is really cute, and since the two HMs are fairly different from one another, I would probably upgrade this to a bottle in the future if that wine note calms down.

I swear there is coconut in here! It smells like soft coconutty snowflakes mostly with super strong tea and sugar. There's some faint hints of peach and lemon. Would have loved for those notes to be stronger, but they could have faded with age. Doesn't last too long for a hair gloss, about 2 hours, but is lovely while it has lasted. I have not tried the perfume oil version, but I'm sure they are comparable. And hopefully the oil will have better longevity.

This review is for the 2014 version! Strong, almost coffee like, chocolate brownies with a little bit of the booze from the stout. Throw is very low, but that could be due to not using a lot from my very low partial imp. The frosting is really sweet and as it dries the stout note gets stronger. This isn't super boozy though, it's more chocolate than anything so I would still check this out even if you aren't thrilled about the stout. One of the better chocolate blends I have tried from BPAL!

A sweet herbal lavender tea! The lime is very faint on me, which is disappointing cause it was the note I was most looking forward to. Dorian is also quite faint, but so far in my testing of Dorian blends that isn't too surprising to me; I guess the other notes just overpower it. I like it, but I wanted more of those two notes.

Lots of snowy plum and cardamom on me, not much currant. It blends together well, but I think something in the snow note makes this smell quite "perfumey" on me. It also resembles soap after drying. I like it, but so far I think Pink is my favorite from the Snowballs line of the ones I have tested. Would have liked more currant, but I don't hate it.

This is sooo good and honestly a must-have for blueberry fans. This was shockingly similar to the lunacy Lán Yuèliàng on me, with the only noticeable difference between the two was Blueberry Picking's grassy notes and the faintest hint of lavender. So if you already have one, you probably won't need both. The blueberries were definitely the star of the blend alongside the grasses, they started out slightly sour but got sweeter with more time. The wear time isn't the best, fades a lot within an hour, but parts of it are still present for the rest of the day, especially the lemon verbena which to me is what makes this resemble Lán Yuèliàng.

Sweet floral dirt. Not sure how else to describe it haha. The lavender is the strongest of the florals and almost overshadows the dirt note. This reminds me of Zombi but lavender and other florals instead of rose. Not getting any green leaves scents, just floraly dirt on me. Not too bad! Don't think I'll upgrade because I'm picky with dirt notes.

This review is for the 2009 version! Soft vanilla snow, to me it's much like the note in Snow White, with the softest pink rose. This could sort of be a cousin to Bear Prince with a softer rose and no fur musky note. I definitely prefer this to Bear Prince however. Beautiful and not too strongly rose or snow, I think they are blended quite well and neither one is more dominant on me. The vanilla in here is lovely and makes me think of ice cream. Of the Snowballs I have tried, this is my favorite so far.

I'm not getting a ton of cotton candy with this, mostly Snake Oil, vanilla bean, carnation, and honey. Dorian also barely appears. This is really good, the cotton candy is fruity and musky with some spices. Obviously the Snake Oil in this is aged, but I think the addition of the vanilla bean makes this resemble Lab fresh Snake Oil more than an aged version. The honey and carnation stay in the background and don't overwhelm the Snake Oil on me. Love it! Wanted more Dorian and cotton candy, but I don't hate what it became on my skin.

Snowy licorice and a little bit of berries. The berries all kind of blend together so I can't really identify which ones I'm smelling. It fades pretty fast on me, otherwise this is pretty nice. Wanted some more of the berries though.

The rose note in here is pretty faint, I get the blackcurrants the most. The tart resembles powdered sugar to me. It gets a little play-doh like with time, I don't know what is causing that. Not my favorite from the Mad Tea Party line, but certainly not bad. Would have loved to get a strong crumbly bread note and a little bit of a stronger rose scent.

Wearing this with the regular Knave of Hearts to leave a comparison review. Honestly, Knave of Hearts almost gets completely buried by the Frostbitten note. I'm just getting snow and a very faint hint of rose. If I didn't look at the label of my decant, I could have sworn this was just a snowy rose instead of Knave. The blackcurrant is not appearing for me at all. I'd rather have the regular Knave to this, but if you are a fan of snow notes and roses this could be a good match for you! Disappointed by the lack of the currant and that I'm mostly getting snow from this, but it's not a bad scent at all. I was just expecting something different than what I got.

This resembles a fruity and floral shampoo on me. The plum in this is pretty strong, which I appreciate because I don't have many plum blends. Not getting any musk and just a little bit of the sandalwood. Don't think I'll upgrade, but glad I tried this.

Burnt smoky dark chocolate is what it starts out with wet, but as it dries I start to get some of the little vanilla marshmallows. The burnt note is very strong and almost keeps this from being foodie. Almost reminds me of coal or a chimney. Enjoying this, there's enough sweetness from the chocolate that makes the smoke in this wearable for me.

Soft amber and leather with a little silver. A little bit of spices in the background. Definitely gets powdery when it dries down, but paired with the musk I think it works well. I am also getting a touch of coconut from this as well with some florals. Might not upgrade, but this is very pleasant and would make a lovely sleep scent.
