Razors in a Doll's House Hair Gloss

I am not familiar with cognac, so I mostly get the rose water and lace notes. Very pretty and slightly metallic from the silver, but on me it's subtle and mostly rose. This could work well with many blends, especially ones with rose like Zombi. Lasts pretty well too, I sprayed it on damp hair and it has lasted longer than when it's on dry hair. Glad I have quite a bit of this decant, this is one of the best hair gloss I've tried!
  2. This is super lovely, the vanilla and patchouli in this are the main ones I can spot without looking at the notes. The fig took a while for me to detect, but it blends in well with the bamboo and other notes. One of my favorites atmospheric sprays, but I'd rather get this as a perfume oil.

A Cozy Sweater and an Apple Cider

This is the first 2020 Weenie I have tried so far, but I am very impressed! The clean laundry note in this smells more like laundry detergent and soap than the angora sweater I thought it'd be, but that's fine with me. The spices and apples in the cider are very sweet, but they aren't as strong as the laundry note. As it dries, I think the cider comes out a little bit more than the laundry, but it's still a very heavy laundry scent. I love BPAL laundry scents so I will for sure keep this decant, but I still need some time with it to decide if I will be purchasing a bottle in the future. I am a little bummed out that the apple cider isn't a bigger presence in this, but age could hopefully change that. And I still like it regardless! My go to laundry scent is Boober, but I could see this being perfect for a day where I want to smell like clean clothes and want something more interesting than pure detergent. If you love clean laundry scents, this would be a perfect addition to your collection! I've heard some blends that have things like cinnamon can cause irritation in people with sensitive skin. I have not noticed any reaction on my wrists while wearing this, but I would keep this in mind if you decide to purchase.

    Loaf

This smelled like dill pickles on me initially! But that quickly turned into buttery bread with salt. Some rosemary I believe comes through a little after drying down. Very unique scent so I'm glad I could try this but it's not sweet enough for me to buy a bottle. It's very comforting though, which is something desperately needed today. Update: If you missed out on this, check out Unsubtle Euphemism from the 2021 Lupercalia collection. It's a more soft and sweeter version of Loaf to my nose, so if your skin chemistry seems similar to mine you might want to give that a shot!

    Gen Z Feminist Cenobite

Fruit punch with lots of cherry on first sniff. This is very heavily cherry for a while, but I think some of the chypre comes out more when it's in the drying stage. It's kind of medicinal to me once everything is dry, like a cherry cough drop and herbal tea or something. It's kind of a soothing scent and I enjoy this, but it's not a big love like other Lilith's this year. So I'll be hanging onto the decant, maybe aging will soften the chypre a little and makes this a bit more to my liking.

    Baby’s First Chainsaw

First initial impression is that the throw on this is great. Instantly get that chocolate chip cookie note as it is first applied. It takes a while for the grease to kick in and it becomes a bit more prominent once dried down. It's a little off putting at first, but it mellows down and blend in with the chocolate within 10 minutes on me. This isn't completely foodie, so I think this could work well for those who want to try unique scents with a little bit of sweetness. I really doubt I'm going to get a bottle, but this was pretty interesting to try! Who knows, with aging the grease note could lessen considerably and make this more wearable to me.

    Snow Bunny

This review is for the 2008 version. This is very pine and snow heavy on me with some of the girly perfume. It's a little soapy, but not too bad or as strong as some other BPAL oils. I feel this would be better for layering with other scents, it's not incredible on its own. Will keep my bottle because it may grow on me, but I am curious what the original 2005 version smelled like in comparison to this.

    Jailbait

This is one of my favorite oils from BPAL: chalky pink bubblegum like Bazooka Joe, cherry syrup in the background, and the orange is there but a little hard to pick out among the strongness of the other two notes. Sadly this is discontinued, but I have worn Courtney from ParaNorman before trying this out and I would say they are very similar, first sniff from this imp was basically Courtney to me. So if you love this but are having a time finding it like I did, Courtney could be a good alternative! You would just be missing out on the orange and cherry notes, but in my case I believe this imp was aged so those notes were not as prominent as the bubblegum.

    Walking My Daughter to Class

Took a little while before I could pick out Dorian, so at first it was heavy vanilla bourbon and lavender. I can't detect the oakmoss and bergamot but that's likely due to me not being familiar with those notes. But once it dries completely, it's a Dorian lavender vanilla dream. This is a really nice blend. Starts of heavy and strong but mellows out to be beautiful. I'm still a little undecided if I will upgrade this yet, but this is perfect for those who adore Dorian.

    Boop

White patchouli is the strongest initially but pretty quickly mellows out to let the honey dust through. Lavender is a little hard to pick out but it is there in the background, could just be my chemistry amping the patchouli. I have no idea what the puppy paws note really is, but whatever it is I can't detect it. Once dried, it's mostly a honey patchouli blend to me. I like this better than I initially thought, although disappointed that lavender isn't stronger. I've tried patchouli from BPAL before in many blends, but I believe this is the first time I've tried white patchouli and now I'm eager to try more with that note. Will keep the decant in case age brings out lavender, but I don't see a bottle upgrade. It is a nice and not overly strong scent, perfect for sleeping.

    Fruit Moon 2020

Lots of bananas and sugar on first sniff, almost reminding me of banana pudding. Some of other notes shine through more aftering drying like ylang ylang and the fig. Banana doesn't stay around much longer after the rest of the notes make themselves known. I would have been all over Fruit Moon 2020 if I tried this before the Liliths, but now that I have tried both I much prefer Banana Bread. The banana stays around longer in that one and while I still enjoy this scent, the main reason I was attracted to this was the heavy banana note. If banana was the main reason you wanted to get this, I would chose Banana Bread anyday. With all that being said, I'm glad to have tried it before it went away in case I wanted a bottle. But unless this changes considerably with age, I'll most likely swap this.

    Between Classes

This is definitely a freshly washed laundry scent with a pinch of lavander and hint of carnation. It's very beautiful if that's your thing like it is mine! I have to agree that this would work well for sleeptime since it's very close to skin and it's a calming scent. I think the florals do a pretty good job of keeping this from straight laundry territory like Boober. I would like to try aging this some to see if lavender will stay around longer and if the carnations would come through some more. I've got two laundry powdery scents that I adore in bottles, so unless aging transforms this considerably, the decant will be good enough for me. I would definitely try to grab this if you love floral and clean scents.

    Cannibal Lady Macbeth

First applied, patchouli and oud are basically the only things I can smell. It takes a few minutes before I can detect the fig and I'm still trying to find the blood musk that gets lost in the mix. Some aging might help bring it out or more rest. This is super strong even when dry, be careful not to overapply. And this oil is not for those who hate patchouli and oud since they are the strongest notes. This is just an okay scent for me. I like patchouli, but I think the fig or oud is making this not a winner in my book. I might try and age this a bit more before I decide its fate, but this was a neat scent to try out and I'm glad I picked up a decant. If you're looking for a unique, dark and slightly fruity scent I think this is perfect for you. The throw is pretty good on this too!

    Our Little Crypt Ghoul

This is heavy on the grass and apple, a very clean green scent. I don't think this really smells like apple cider to me, more like juice. There's a little dirt in here too but it's pretty faint to my nose. It doesn't last very long either, about 3 hours on me. I like it, I just wish the other notes would come through more (might help with aging) and the performance was better. Since this is super duper grassy, I'd avoid this if you are mostly looking for apple cider and don't care for the grass note. This is a great scent for people who enjoy clean notes and would recommend this if that is your favorite kind of oils from BPAL!

    Rattlecans and Sliders

Sweet strawberry and vanilla cake batter . I'm not picking up any ice cream notes and what little of the fog machine juice I can smell is in the background. The strawberries scent almost reminds me of 2020 Aesthetic's raspberry note: it's more of an artificial scent and in this case I would agree with the strawberry syrup comparisons. It is the quickest to fade on me but it still lingers in the background with the fog. If the fog machine juice was the main reason you were interested in this, sadly I don't think this would be a good match for you unless you already have Fog Machine Juice Single Note to layer with this. It's still a nice scent so I would suggest trying this out if you love cake scents and strawberries, or if you just want to smell like Strawberry Shortcake for the day!

    Lan Yueliang

Immediately I get the scent of the sourest of lemons, but dries down pretty quickly to a slight powdery sugar tea with lemon. Blueberry is there on the background, so my body chemistry must amp up the lemon note to drown it out. For me, it's more of an Arnold Palmer (half iced tea/half lemonade) blend but with blueberry lemonade. This is absolutely beautiful, I would say it's almost a sister scent to Dorian or Jareth. It's very sugarly sweet but has that sour edge to it. I really love this more than I expected, even though I'm sad I don't get more blueberry from this. Going to keep an eye out for a bottle before it goes away, this is my favorite so far from the October 2020 lunacies! I'm sure aging will do wonders as I've heard it does to scents like this.

    2020 Aesthetic

This is a scent that smells better applied than it does in the decant. On me, the raspberries and sugar amp up to overpower the cherry so it doesn't smell completely like cough syrup. I would have to agree with the Strawberry Shortcake comparisons, but to me that's not a bad thing. It's somewhat an artificial scent, but I'm not getting a plastic smell like others have mentioned, it's more of a candy scent in my eyes. It's pure raspberry sugar with a small bit of cherry in the background. I think it turns a bit powdery once dry, but it's not a baby powder smell, more like powdered sugar. I love it enough to hold onto my decant and upgrade to a bottle! This is a great scent for fruit lovers though, especially raspberry. I'm sure this would be good in a locket as well if cherry morphs badly on you, since raspberry is by far the strongest note. Edit after wearing this a bit longer: the throw is pretty great! I've got some scents that I have to put my wrist directly to my nose to really smell it, but I can smell this fine about a foot away. It does turn more into a jam like scent after some time, I can't stop sniffing myself! Will for sure have to get a bottle of this, I wonder how good this will be aged?

    The Fainting Couch Atmosphere Spray

Rose water is for sure the strongest note once sprayed, but eventually I can smell the teas and pomander. This isn't something I'd normally reach for but it's not a bad scent at all, just won't be used as much as my other Atmospheric Sprays. It's a very sweet floral but not overpowering or potpourri like. Will hold onto the decant, but no bottle upgrade for me.
  19. fairybites

    Mother Ghost

This is a pretty nice scent. I'm getting the orchid, a splash of tea, and the labdanum immediately after applying it. Sad to not smell any of the vanilla, but I can pick out the rose and powdery notes the further it dries down. Not sure how often I would end up reaching for my decant since I've got somewhat similar scents that I prefer more and have in bottles, but I'll keep it on hand for a special occasion. I think this could be a good scent if you want something slightly clean but not like a fresh pile of laundry like Boober. I could actually see this as something my mom would have picked out, so this could be a good gift option as well!

    Lilith

This smells really sweeter than I thought it would. The red wine and rose are the notes that are the strongest on me, I can't detect the other notes at all. My imp is almost empty and the age is unknown so that could be a factor. It doesn't stay long at all on me, so I'm itching to try a bottle if I can find one to see if the age is the issue or if I just didn't apply enough. It's a really nice scent which is a shame that the wear time is abysmal. At least the rose in this didn't morph weirdly on my skin like Croquet did. It might be hard to find, but I suggest trying this out if you love red wine and rose tends to work well with your body chemistry.

    Blood Popsicle

This review is for the 2014 version. I have not tried Blood so I'm unsure if this smells like that with an icy twist. However on me this smells like patchouli, a hint of pine, and a musk of some kind (I guess red? Not that familiar with musks). I'm not getting any fruity or floral notes, could be due to my decant's age or something. I think this is a nice blend, however I don't think the name really matches the smell. This is more of an incense heavy scent than one I'd associate with wintertime. Better than I expected honestly, would buy a bottle if I didn't prefer Baron Samedi.

    Croquet

This is wonderful when wet, but it dries down to something that's still good, but not as wonderful as before. Wet, it's all citrus: grapefruit and lime with some sugar. But within an hour it has morphed into a soapy, rose scent with a touch of the patchouli. I don't hate the notes it morphed into, so I still like it dried down. But I am disappointed the wet stage didn't last longer because that was heavenly. I've seen other reviewers here mention wearing this in a locket, if I happen to get ahold of one I will try that and see if it'll be a better fit. No bottle upgrade, but will enjoy this imp.

    Hoggle

When it's wet, the sugary pumpkin is the strongest note. But it dries down to a lovely woodsy, pumpkin, and tobacco scent. I can't smell any leather or dust in this, but I think it's fantastic the way it morphed on my skin. It's foodie but not as much as other scents, so this could be more wearable for those who don't like a lot of gourmands. This oil screams autumn ! It's very close to the skin on me however, which is a shame. This is my favorite of the Labyrinth scents I've tried so far. Gonna hold onto my decant and will keep an eye out for a bottle!

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

I mostly picked this decant up for the name since I love old toys, but this scent is the opposite of what I expected. The only scent I'm getting is the woods. No sugar, no patchouli, nothing else but wood. It could be due to aging why I am not smelling anything else because I can smell those notes in other blends on me. I will say I guess it's true to the name, I definitely smell like a ventriloquist dummy! And on one hand the wood isn't awful, but I can't really stand it on its own, I would have to layer it with something else to truly enjoy this. Viewer beware, you're in for a scare if you dont love woodsy notes!

Down the Rabbit Hole Atmosphere Spray

I love this, the orange blossom is the main note I can pick out apart from the grass. The florals are definitely there, but it's in the background. I wish I could smell some of the dirt too, but this is lovely as it is. Like other atmospheric sprays I've tried, it does stay around longer than a commercial spray does in my case. I tried Queens Croquet ground yesterday and I can still smell the 3 sprays on my stuffed cat. I would say 5 to 10 hours for just a couple sprays? I may have to get a bottle of this if I can! I kind of wish this was a perfume since it smells so good, I may have to try some more BPAL oils with orange blossom.
