I can't believe I like this. I was expecting it to be weird! It's hairspray alright, but it also smells like perfumey makeup powder and the hair dye. Very chemically but not in your face. It softens once it's on the skin. I didn't get a lot of smoke, though I'm sure this would be nice layered with Thorns Clove Cigarette. Also love that the color of the oil is like a blueish green, like Oblivion!

Faint mangos and tea. It's sweet and summery. As it fades, the patchouli comes out more. Not really getting any fig. I think I prefer Tweedledee to this. My imp is likely aged, so I think I would enjoy this if it was fresh. I think layering this with that would be better than just wearing it on it's own.

This is all honey dust on me! It's like a fainter Boop without the lavender. As it fades, the musk and cream get a little stronger but not by much. I definitely prefer regular honey to honey dust, so I think if it had that note instead I might enjoy this more. Not bad, just very very dusty and I've already got a bottle that's slightly similar to this but stronger.

This review is for the 2006 version! I swear I'm getting sweet apples from this even though it's not in the notes. It's faint though. It reminds me of a lighter dead leaves with more smoke and woods. I don't really get booze from this, it's all musky woodsy smoky sweet apples. So strange. Don't hate it, but I think this would get better use for layering.

Smoky, dark, and woodsy. At times it smelt sort of burnt or like hickory wood. The ginger was very prominent on me as well as the vetiver. It was okay, a little too different from the stuff I normally wear. I think vetiver is a note that's mostly going to be a miss with me!

I mostly got amber, lemon peel, and champaca from this. It smells pretty clean, almost like soap but doesn't quite reach there. I haven't tried Paladin from the RPG line, but looking at the notes I don't think they will smell similar since I couldn't get frankincense from this. I think this would be good for layering, it's pretty on it's own but not my kind of thing. It's a little too much amber for me. But if you love that note and like the rest, I would suggest trying it out!

This is one of the best cake BPALs I have ever tried! A delicious and super sugary pink strawberry and vanilla cake. The icing smells like buttercream, and it's very icing heavy at first but dries down to be more of a cake scent. Would love to upgrade this. So much nicer than I expected.

Minty green tea, heavily mint in the initial wet stage. As it dries down the mint fades considerably and I'm left with a soft green tea with hints of cassis. Not the best mint I've tried, but the mint and tea combination is nice! Wish it had a stronger throw, but all things considered this is beautiful. I didn't get any of the currant or plum, but considering the age of this I'm not too surprised.

Just ginger on me: no gingerbread! It fades so fast and is very faint, around an hour and I smell like a tiny bit of ginger. Not my thing, but I was frimped this so I can't complain! If the ginger stayed around longer with better throw I'm sure I'd have liked it more, even without the gingerbread.

Unsure my imp's age, if I had to guess it'd be 2017! Sugared pumpkin alright, mostly pumpkin pulp though. The pumpkin doesn't scream artificial to me and once dry I get a ton of pumpkin spices and less of the actual pumpkin. It's basically like a pumpkin spice single note but a little sweeter and with actual pumpkin scent. A little buttery, but mostly spices. Pretty good! Don't think I'll upgrade but I'm sure this would be a huge hit in the fall with pumpkin/pumpkin spice lovers.

Coffee overload! Starts dark and strong, but then the vanilla sweetens it up a bit and makes it resemble a latte or frapp. Eventually the coffee fades a lot and I'm left with the sticky sweet melty vanilla ice cream. This is a lovely vanilla, so I recommend it for that! But while it starts out like a nice dark roast, it doesn't stay that way for long if your skin chemistry is anything like mine. It smells so good I'm tempted to taste it, although I know it'll be terrible.

Mother Shub's Unmentionable Peppermint Creams
fairybites replied to pinkstardust420's topic in Yules
Strong peppermint, almost sinus clearing haha. No marzipan at all, just lots of creamy sweet peppermint with some vanilla. It's good if you want a strong peppermint, but disappointing if you wanted the marzipan. I know a lot of people are making comparisons to the Lick It series, but this really smells close to Don't Lick It since that one is extra sweet (and I haven't tried previous releases). And since I have a bottle of that one, I likely won't be upgrading this. -
I cannot get over how simple and wonderful this is! I don't like the taste of sarsaparilla, but the vanilla cream in here makes it smell so good. I can't smell any leather, which is fine because sometimes that note doesn't always agree with me. Sarsaparilla is the star of this blend for sure, the vanilla cream just softens it and sweetens a bit in the background. Resembles a vanilla ice cream float with root beer. Hope I can find a bottle, this is divine!

Syrupy sugared pumpkin hard candy. The hard candy note is very familiar if you have tried any other blends with that name: like Apple Spice or Honey. The pumpkin pulp doesn't scream artificial to me. There's no pumpkin spice but definitely sugar from the candy. A good comparison is pumpkin juice from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I haven't had any of that in years but this smells pretty close to it. This is really good! But I probably won't seek out more imps of this since I've got a few pumpkins already.

When wet, all I could get from this was sugar and more sugar. Without looking at the notes, I thought it was just a mix of candies. But after it dried, I finally get the fruits. I can smell all four of them, but the strongest is definitely the pomegranate and black currant. It almost smells like licorice at times. Like this a lot, but since it's gonna be so expensive I will likely not upgrade.

This is just sweet rose petals, no cacao or chocolate at all. Smells like red roses to me like in Mad Tea Party blends. Was very curious about the cacao so I am a bit disappointed I didn't get any of it. It's a good rose scent all things considered, but not what I was looking for.

Lots of maple syrup smothered pecans with brown sugar. I can smell the pumpkin spice (mostly cinnamon and nutmeg) but not really the pumpkin itself. This is reminding me of candied nuts, but sweeter. It seems so simple but this is really nice. I'm not a huge fan of nutty scents but the sweetness in here makes it lovely. This is so good, I can't stop sniffing myself! One of the best Mother Shub's scents, my first love was Squamous Sea Salt Caramel Cookies.

Starts off very strong, like potpourri roses and alcohol. But within an hour or so it softens considerably to a powdery white floral with a little bit of aquatic. Took some time for me to like it, definitely grows on you. A very fitting perfume for Ophelia! Very close to the skin, but the longevity is pretty good! Really wish this wasn't discontinued, but glad to have this decant at least. If you like aquatic florals, give this a try if you can find it!

Waxy minty pumpkin, kind of resembling candy. I don't get any of the fruits, but there's still a little bit of sweetness. The pumpkin and mint are the strongest notes. Not the best I've tried from the Pumpkin Patch, but not bad. Just a bit bland? If I had a newer imp I'd probably love the grapefruit and lime. Sadly, I think they have faded with age.

I have a decant of this, the number is #144! Orange and almond powdered sugar dusted cakes. The orange and almond is a lot stronger than the sugary cake notes, especially when dry. Doesn't last terribly long, about an hour or two.

This smells like brown sugar cinnamon cookies with vanilla peppermint icing. No pomegranate at all, but I do get the cream. Very sugary sweet in the dry down, but during the wet stage it was more cookie heavy. A little bit of a resemblance to Dragon Slide, the mint anyway. I enjoy this a lot, might upgrade!

The wet stage is so fun: a juicy pink grapefruit but it's giving me peach rings at times, a very gummy candy resemblance. The coconut comes through in a couple minutes: not completely suntan lotion smelling but the closest blend I can compare the coconut in here to is Cat-Lilith and Cat-Dad. I also get a little of the "squishy pink fruits": to my nose it smells like strawberry and raspberry. Around an hour, that sugary candy scent fades to a musky coconut amber. I can smell traces of that grapefruit in the background, but this time the coconut is more strong. A little floral too, but not overpowering. I like it! I do prefer the wet stage, but the dry down is very lovely too. It's a nice summer blend and the label art is so cool too.

Starts off a little similar to the 2020 Lilith A Vigilant Eye at Heaven's Center: a fresh clean minty blend with the pinch of wasabi in the background. Very close to shampoo or soapy territory, but that fades in about a minute. Around the hour mark, it loses the fresh smell and has morphed into a slightly dark murky water scent with the pond grasses and touch of pine. Definitely a morpher. I knew I might not love this but I still wanted to try it anyway because of the wasabi. And in the end, it's just okay. That beginning wet stage, while very clean, was the best. This funky dry down matches the name well, but it isn't something I would reach for a lot. Glad I tried it though, the label is very cute! I will keep this around for a bit to see if aging will soften the muskyness.

Perfumey floral, kind of grassy? I'm thinking that might be from the champaca flower or magnolia since I haven't tried many perfumes with those notes before. Also getting a vinegary note? Not sure what I expected to get, but it definitely wasn't this. Won't be upgrading.
-
Leathery amber, kind of green but not very strong like the leather is. This is a little too leather heavy for my tastes, but if you love that note it's pretty good. I didn't get a whole lot of musk, it resembled the fur musk that I've seen in other blends.
