They are not kidding about the fir or the mint. OMG! The Christmas smell is very strong going on. Luckily, this fades enough over time to let the leather, musk, and spices to show through. It's actually rather pleasant once it starts to age properly on the skin. If it weren't for the mint, I'd probably love this. As it is? Meh.

    Delphi

This one's pretty weird, folks. The honey wine is quite strong on first application, with a floral note I'm guessing is the laurel. I'm thinking it's the bay that gives it it's peculiar edge.

    The Death of Autumn

Think woods in late Autumn, damp leaves, the faint smell of a bonfire in the distance, probably also made with damp leaves. The cloves add a bit of spice, hinting at cider for later. It is brash out of the bottle, but soon softens into what I'm described. I strongly suggest giving it time to mellow before deciding how you feel about it. It reminds me a bit of Aziraphale's slightly wilder and more outdoorsey cousin. On me, the amber and galangal are quite strong (making a musky wood scent), and the plants smell of crushed or broken stems, rather than the actual flowers. I do think this one is aptly named. Whether one likes it or not is likely a matter of taste. unfortunately the khus gets more aggressive with wear.

    Coyote

Sweet and musky. This is lighter and more girlie than I'd generally pick, but I like how it smells like desert. It took a little while to get used to, but it really grew on me. Pleasantly delicate.

    Chokmah

Not very descriptive from a tell the ingredients perspective, alas. this smells like rootbeer with medicinal herbs in it. No really. I am not sure why rootbeer with Chinese medicine in it is meant to represent the Primordial Point of creation. I am not sure why anyone would mistake this for perfume. I think it has vanilla in it, which is pleasing, but Dude!

    Carnal

This one is very citrusy, but less annoyingly so than some of the others, I've sniffed. It is way to young and female for me. I can imagine the teenager it would smell good on, but so not me. This was never me. I am wondering why this is the scent of carnality, though.

    Brimstone

Wow! They aren't kidding about the grittiness, the smoke, or the husks. It also smell aquatic and faintly ozoney. It is a cousin to JEZIRAT AL TENNYN, only vastly more pleasing. This is what I wanted JEZIRAT AL TENNYN to smell like, but it didn't. It smells like a storm coming over brushfire country, the dry heat of flame about to be quenched by the laden air. Not an easy scent or one for every day, but exciting. It wears long too, lingering on, mellowed and smelling a little like aftermath. I love that about it. This would have been a winner if at around the four hour point it didn't degenerate into almost all patchouli until I was forced to wash it off. My disappointment is huge as I loved this stuff. Also, allergic to it. Ugh.

    Blood Pearl

I didn't notice the coconut at all. I am suspecting it blends seamlessly into the orris and the blood musk. It's a pretty little thing, pleasing enough, somewhat femme, but not aggressively so.

    Blood Amber

This is exactly what one would expect from the description. Yummy and simple. My sort of thing.

    Blood

It smells exactly like one would expect from the description. With long use, I find it cloying and juvenile, alas..

    Black Pearl

This one makes me a little hungry, as is often the case with food scented ones. It smells quite a bit like the coconut chocolate chip meringues I make. I am now wishing I had egg white to cook some with. I like this one, but likely I will want meringue every time I wear it.

    Bewitched

This one is eerily familiar, though I'm not placing where from. Probably, it's from one of my teas. Fruity, but not impossibly so. It smells a lot like spring in the PNW only more perfumey thanks to the musk. Nice enough, but clearly designed for someone else. I can easily picture her actually.

    Bengal

Way too much cinnamon. Smells like obtrusive and badly mixed holiday tea. It smells the way sticky feels on the skin. Sad, so sad.

    Aureus

It smells like chalk. Also, I suspect vetiver. So disappointed.

    Antony

This is a thick scent, though not smothering or heavy. It's actually pretty much as advertised if you can imagine it, masculine in a way that suggests slightly fae ancient world warriors. I'm liking it, but not in a knock me over sort of way. basically, this is a pretty decent cologne, but not a grab your hind brain and shake it thing like Perversion is.

    Al-Shairan

The enemy of God, also named Iblis, He Who Despaired of the Mercy of God. Al-Shairan is the leader of the Jinn, a tempter who whispers false suggestions to men enticing them into evil and perfidious acts, and is the sworn enemy of all of Adam’s children. His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes. Inauspicious in the imp. It has a nasty chemical bite to it. It's like a toxic chemical Christmas smell, the first four elements in the list corrupted by the bass notes. Eeew. Luckily it calms down to smelling like clove oranges and Barbie hair. Still anaesthetic but not awful enough to need washing off right away.

    Alecto

Not surprisingly, it smells like vetiver and wood. I think I would like this is there were maybe vanilla instead of vetiver. Like the death of autumn, it was so close to outdoorsy Autumnal goodness; like DoA, the vetiver ruins it for me, but just barely. so sad when they come close.

    Aeval

A raven-haired Fairy Queen of Ireland. One of her eternal duties dictates that she must hold a midnight court every season and hear the pleas of married Irishwomen. The court serves only to determine whether or not husbands are adequately serving their wife’s sexual needs. A judicious yet powerfully sensual blend, a mingling of justice and sexuality: sage, sweet pea, bold pale musk and warm tonka. Smells like a kitchen garden, green and sweet and herbal. It's a young woman's sent, I think, attractive and pleasing and vaguely floral, but not in a negative sense. It Smells like outdoors, and spring and freshness. It doesn't make me think of sexuality though. It is lovely, but not for me.Smells like a kitchen garden, green and sweet and herbal. In the bottle: mostly like dragon musk with the wormwood noticable, and the other ingredients lightening it and making it smell more herbal and outdoorsey. On the skin, the initial impression is a sweeter version of Dragon musk. The galangal, worwood, and basil adds complexity as it settles, making it more botanical and outdoors smelling. I'm betting the very faintly floral note is the opoponax, but it's barely noticeable. If you like dragon's musk, I'm guessing this is up your alley. I know I'm liking it.

    Midnight Kiss

First impression in bottle? Candy isle at a grocery store. First on skin? Candy isle at the drug store if maybe it was close to the perfume display. A few minutes later? This candy isle is likely in Eugene, Oregon as I can smell new ager/hippy. Fades super fast into something sandlewoody and Amberish. Vaguely Eastern and faintly sweet.

    Dia de los Muertos

... This is a Mexican paean to La Huesuda: dry, crackling leaves, the incense smoke of altars honoring Death and the Dead, funeral bouquets, the candies, chocolates, foods and tobacco of the ofrenda, amaranth, sweet cactus blossom and desert cereus. In the bottle, it is all flowers and incense. On first application it smells like pretty generic perfume. Give it a little time and the food scents come out, candy, something that smells a little like cake (offering food? Amaranth mixing with candies?), and a hint of chocolate. It gets sweeter, but doesn't lose the tinge of incense which twines with the tobacco under the stronger scents. The florals back way off. It is complex and sweet and dry, shifting dominant notes over time, making it extremely hard to pin down.

    Singing Moon

This smells very wet and green. Think cut grass after rain. Think muddy meadows. Think damp hut by the sea with medicinal herbs hanging from the rafters. It smells almost like mint, but not enough to annoy me. If you like R'yleh, you'll likely like this.

    Red Moon 2007

This was a bit of a surprise in it's effect. It is gentler than I expect from a dragon's blood formulation. The ad copy speaks of rest before the harvest, and for once, it's not that bad a description. It is complex, but restful, a mix of musk/resin with a hint of outdoors and growing things, a peculiar mix of the decadent and the fresh. Under the langor there lurks tiny teeth, scents suggestive of the sharper season coming sleeping under the lazy august sun.

    Thaleia

Smells like fruit flavoured bubblegum with a few warmer richer notes underneath. no. I am not an eleven year old girl. No. So much for the muse of comedy and pastoral poetry.

    R'lyeh

Subtle and pleasantly spicy. Very aquatic, but managed to smell a bit like spiced bananas. I once thought I smelled this and realized it was the wind blowing through the woods and across my fish tanks. It’s actually an abiding favorite, though it’s hard to explain why it is so madly appealing.
