This is my favorite of the 420 posters, and I was confused comparing it to the Alice poster because I get something much closer to Knave of Hearts from this. The strawberry/sugar/rose is a delight, and the weed is a demure and pleasant complement. It doesn't have much longevity on my skin, but I haven't tested it in a locket yet.

This one had me at currant tarts, but I'm not getting any of the pastry aspect of the tart. The predominant notes for me are the roses, the tartness of the grapefruit, and the opium, with a backdrop of currants and a touch of spice. I'm surprised at how nice and not especially dank it is - very easy to wear. I definitely want to hide it in a drawer and come back to it in Winter to see what develops.

Wolf poster on me is more wearable and subtle than I thought it would be, based on the description. I would consider it unisex/masc leaning, something you might smell when going in for a hug from someone with good hygeine and a good dealer. There is something weirdly clean about it, but I wouldn't call it soapy.

I flew to LA in June and no one even asked me to take my liquids baggie out of my carryon, so hopefully it's nbd? Plus perfume sample vials are more recognizable/less conspicuous than the 5ml bottles.

A bit of Christmas in July finding out I like this scent so much! It goes on with soft sweet gingerbread and a bit of rose. Smells like red rose to me, but only about 1/4 the intensity of Peacock Queen. It's also like burning an incense stick or cone, in that the incense aspect of the scent builds over time. Gingerbread gives way to spiced rose, which gives way to gently spiced rose incense. The latter phase of this scent feels delightfully goth to me. Happy to have this in my gingerbread bottle stash.

Hello I love the banana sloth! In the bottle and freshly applied, this is a gorgeous ripe banana. Wearing this on my wrist, the banana disappears rather quickly, then there is a stunnnning cacao/tobacco/vetiver phase, and finally the vetiver is the last note standing. Wearing this under my clothes, the intensity of the banana fades without disappearing completely, allowing all the notes to smush together in that stunning phase I mentioned before. (This is a tremendous armpit smell!) I haven't tried this in my locket yet, but I'm sure I'll get around to that ...eventually.

White Rose has a gorgeous light clean floral scent. It leaves my skin smelling freshly soaped, but not excessively soapy or powdery. Perfect for calming and comforting.

Four years on and we still need every reminder of kindness and compassion we can get! I was excited for so many of these components, especially rosehips/jasmine/honey/beeswax, but I'm getting a coconut oil blanket thrown over everything scent-wise. This does not have much throw for me, though, so it will be easy to dab a bit on my sternum or wear in a locket as a booster against despair.

Cherry Sugar Cookie
LavenderCoffee replied to lookingglass's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
Ohhh boy I dig this one. Just obtained from the lab's Etsy store. This does smell more like pie/pastry than cookie to me, but I love a pastry scent note. Freshly applied, there is a bit of spice competing with the cherry, but it fades from prominence quickly. The cherry sticks around for a couple hours, and I still get whiffs of pastry for a few hours after that. -
I am in love with this scent! Do you need a gorgeous clove blend? It is certainly a clove blend, but not CLOVE x1000 or anything. I never tried the Hay/Clove duet or Hay Moon, but I'm not sure I need to, because this hits the spot for me. It's a perfect balance of sweet/spiced/nutty, all warm and golden like sunshine and hugs 🌞 Plus it wears allllll day, does not require slathering, and has enough throw that I don't have to hunt for it, and not so much as to offend strangers in the grocery store/public transit/work etc. It will be hard to stop myself from wearing this every day this summer. The last thing I need is another backup bottle, but I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the down date on this one.

This is so delightful! It starts with the fries and bread for me, then after it dries it's all cookie dough. A full meal of carbs I forgot I put some on and I kept catching whiffs of it and thinking "what smells so good?"

Bullfinch and Weeping Cherry (Uso, Shidarezakura)
LavenderCoffee replied to Seajewel's topic in Limited Editions
This is stunning, and an impressive interpretation of the painting: light pink in the foreground and an inky dark background. The floral pink sings out through the early part of the drydown, and settles down thereafter. The darker colors of this scent like plum and woad stay closer to the skin. I don't wear a lot of floral, but I'm hanging onto my decant to spend some time with it. -
Just came here to say this smells like clean, sweet Snake Oil, but I think everyone already had that covered! I was never super into OG Snake Oil, and Snow White doesn't do anything for me either, but this combo with marshmallow and cotton musk seems to bring out the best in both.

And Though They Are With You Yet They Belong Not To You
LavenderCoffee replied to Seajewel's topic in Limited Editions
This smells so bad on me, but I must be the only one! On the wand it smells perfectly lovely, but my skin chemistry makes this go musty and flat 😠Gonna try it in the locket, but I'm much happier with You May House Their Bodies. -
Oooh chocolatey rye bread! It goes on more chocolate at first, then a light but distinct rye bread scent joins in. The almond is not loud at all, but brings a subtle sweetness. I like this more than I thought I would.

Labdanum, Red Musk, Scorched Vanilla
LavenderCoffee replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
This is a very pretty and well behaved red musk for me, but the red musk does dominate on my skin. I get red musk with sweet cola incense. Not getting much scorch. The blend weirdly reminds me of a femme-leaning head shop / used record store type scent.- 11 replies

This is so familiar and comforting! I could swear I have smelled this before, maybe there is a similar scent in the general catalog? Actually we had a gas lamp post in the front yard growing up, maybe that is part of it! There is a warmth to this scent that isn't smoky or spicy - reminds me of Horses. I didn't get beeswax there and I'm not getting it here, but the amber is subtly sweet and well-balanced against the rain and moss. Really nice.

Seconded! There is a lot going on here and I love every bit of it. It's earthy, not too sweet, berry forward - kinda sparkly too, reminiscent of Purple Jelly Dildo. The amber and musk provide a nice complement to the purple-y berry/wine/fig combo. I'm not getting much green tea or bergamot, personally, although the green leaves were more pronounced in the wet phase and they may have been hiding some other notes.

In the bottle this smells like a delightfully silly but strong cocktail. The boozy rum and the banana don't last long. Frankincense flounces down into a poofy vanilla marshmallow bed with the sugarcane and these are the three notes that are sticking around. I don't particularly love marshmallow or frankincense on their own, but they go well together here. The poofy floofy marshmallow takes me in the direction of A Place of Seeing somehow, paired with sugary frank instead of sandalwood and floral.

Strawberries, Red Musk, and May Rose
LavenderCoffee replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Whew I love this blend, it's so joyful. Much more strawberry than the 2020 Dried Strawberries, Red Musk, and Bourbon Vanilla ménage, imo, and more like what I expected that one to smell like. This one lasts and lasts for me, where the other disappears. -
A dab'll do ya with this one. It's a wonderfully persistent but soft leather, well worn and warm, carrying the scent of its owner/wearer. This isn't nearly as "leather goods store" to my nose as something like You're A Daisy, but it is predominantly leather. Herbal lavender cologne pops out, then settles as the oil dries, perfect for a gentleman detective or anyone in search of a subtle leather/cologne vibe. Fresh lime wedge is certainly not happening here, but the cologne has a nice citrus slant. I just purchased the bottle this week, but I'm not sure how long it's been in stock waiting to be claimed, so it could possibly be aged? Anyway it's lovely and nicely balanced.

This is unapologetically bold when wet, and sweeter than I expected, but not in an unpleasant way. The bottle has only rested 24 hours, so it might need to settle longer, but it's been consistent during that time. The opium and cognac, along with whatever mephitic bits, hang out in the top range, while benzoin, amber and patch surround the tobacco base. It's decadent. There's almost a suggestion of banana here? Maduros? Idk. Nothing acrid or bitter, just richness and a swirl of pleasantly intoxicating fumes. I didn't get anything spicy or smoked at first, but after 20-30 minutes, the tobacco seems to have dried with the oil, and I definitely get a touch of spice and some smoke. It's soft and warm and resinous, and the fumes have decreased in strength but still seem to give everything a bit of shimmer - a diaphanous tobacco dream. It hangs out here through the hour mark, close to the skin. So much quieter than where it started, but so good! And *very* different from the previous Witches' Lace.

Let this one rest after travel for sure. Cedar in combination with some of the other notes will complain loudly about the trip. Even now after the better part of a month of rest, I could swear this has narcissus in it, but I like that note anyway. I think these must be swamp witches, in their sugary mossy lace among the cedars.
-
I was ready to full size this one too, but the delicious dankness wears off after 30 mins, and it becomes a lovely dandelion scent with lightly honeyed weed in the background. It's very pleasant but I would prefer to retain more of that initial hit. Recommended for those hesitant to try the weed note, and for dandelion enthusiasts.

Freshly applied, this smells exactly like chocolate buttercream frosting. Agree with wolf_truffles, it's making me want to take a bite of myself. Creamy, sugary, vanilla-chocolately, crying out for a cupcake and sprinkles to go with it. Definitely not a chocolate ganache.
