This one went on with a very minty sort of patchouli dominating, then turned a bit dank and mildewy (reminiscent of Haul on the Bowline), before drying down to something akin to Vanilla Bean, Marshmallow, and Benzoin with a rich backing of patchouli. Like VBMB I do find it to be low throw and not terribly long lasting, but it's still a very nice patchouli scent.

Thankfully I seem to be in the minority here, but this blend unfortunately went into berry poop territory on me. Where this fell apart for me was the berry, coolness, and soot against the carnation... I had hoped the delicate snowberry would be subtle, as berries don't play well on my skin, but this was not the case, so perhaps that's the culprit?

This is more of a spicy, resinous scent than I anticipated. There's a sweetness to it, but I would never have picked out 'coconut' as a note. I was excited to see how rose would show up here, but I don't detect it at all. I'm not getting any overt jasmine either. If you're a rose-lover excited for a rebelliously floral-forward Halloween scent, this is not that. If you're a rose-hater with a love of resins and spice over a creamy sweet backdrop, this might be for you.

BPAL imps often work well in the bath. This is a great use for any scents that you enjoy sniffing in the vial and perhaps wet on the skin but are ultimately foiled by your skin chemistry. You may have seen this already but, since you're new (welcome!) I should mention that there's a swap forum here where you might try swapping some of your less loved vials and bottles for others that you'd enjoy more.

Coffee Bean, Jasmin Sambac, and Vanilla
Exquise-moi replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Jasmine, a bit sweet, a bit mothballish, and no coffee at all. So bummed by this one. -
Sweet Amber, Praline, and Patchouli
Exquise-moi replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Like Little Bird, this went straight gourmand / nutty baked good on me, very sweet and almost syrupy. Not what I was looking for at all. These duets/trios really need to include a short description of the actual scent.- 5 replies

Demons? On me, this morphs into a sweet, fresh, tropical floral scent, subtle and not long-lasting.

This is a bit shriller than expected with the rose and peony, the cream/cotton candy/cognac do not make this a smooth or soft blend for me. However, the airiness of it, the way it wafts, could be lovely on the right person.

I got plenty of blackberry at first, and then the rose emerged and stayed dominant. I was hoping for violet and other notes to make this more complex.

Love the initial blast of ginger, though sadly the floral lily scent that this settles into doesn't work for me.

This one is a hoot. Bubbly evervescence on the one hand, and powdery vanilla on the other. Definitely a fun scent to try, if the powder doesn't scare you off.

This is quite nice, a zesty and refreshing floral with plenty of neroli. Not my personal taste, but I am enjoying it.

In testing the 2022 version of this, I wish I still had a bit of another year's edition to compare. Working from memory, it's definitely the same species as the 2020 rendition, but this strikes me as dustier right from the get-go, and with more violets in the mix. I find it beautiful and calming.

A deep, sweet vanilla floral, reminding me a bit of Spoopy Kid Assaulted by a Sunbeam, but with a delightful hint of tuberose.

A really interesting melding of cypress, greenery, and carnation, oscillating between the spiciness of the carnation and what I can only describe as the scent of LUSH's Guardian of the Forest bath bomb.

This take on fig evokes a lush green tree combined with the sweet fruit, a combination that unfortunately clashes with my skin chemistry.

This is a delicious and difficult to describe scent! It starts out with sweets that definitely include berry and chocolate, reminiscent of the Blackberry & Oud duet, and then mellows into something lighter, with the coolness of the violet and other mysterious notes adding complexity. I just wish it lasted longer! [2020 version]

With my skin chemistry, the sweetness of the warm, sugary patchouli, gentle honeysuckle, and soothing ice cream make for a comforting cool weather blend.

La Prostitution et la Folie Dominent le Monde

A jasmine vanilla rootbeer float, with extra jasmine. Lovely! -
This was a disaster with my skin chemistry. Perhaps the plum is a musky one, which doesn't read as fruit to me, and overpowered the marshmallow entirely? Not for me!

After a few weeks of resting: Lovely, juicy pineapple rose, drying to an airy, slightly powdery sweet rose tinged with fresh pineapple. On my unique skin chemistry the drydown brings to mind a gentler, more delicate Poinsettia Gown, with airy pineapple instead of creamy vanilla.

Tonka Bean + Pink Pepper is delicious! Very tonka forward. https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/a-little-lunacy-limited-edition/duets-2021/tonka-bean-pink-pepper-perfume-oil/ Judgemental Longhorn has both tonka and cacao as notes and is also a lovely scent. https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/activism/lone-star-fundraiser/judgmental-longhorn-perfume-oil/

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
Exquise-moi replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
Thank you for weighing in. Sounds like it's really a class of its own but that the two you suggest could take it in different directions. And, to add an LE / GC comparison, Perversion is sweeter and missing the cardamom, but otherwise reminiscent of Cafe Mille et Une Nuits. -

Bumping this request... anyone? -
Gorgeous thick, initially strong (but short-lived) warm haze of spiced shisha and Turkish cardamom-laced coffee.
