I agree with everyone else's violet soap comparisons... which is nice... except it appears that I'm horribly allergic to violet soap... I put this on and got about 4 sniffs in when I went into the most awful sneezing fit EVER... and then promptly drug myself into the bathroom to wash it off and cover up what was left with something else. Nice scent, tho not particularly chilly IMHO, but definately not for me...

I am in love with this scent!! The amber is definately prevalent... its warm and inviting... the tonka combines to give a chocolate-y richness... the lavender and rosewood add a but of femininity to it but not enough to make it "girly" just enough to insure that its neither foody nor overly masculine. It has an incensey flair to it as well... reminscent of a NOLA voodoo shop I visited on my trip to Mardi Gras many years ago. I think this is an amazing blend and I'm soooooooooo glad I swapped for it as I will wear this one all the time (cannot stop smelling my wrists... even licked them, but fyi it doesn't taste very good). I also think this would be awesome on the right guy... so I'm going to attempt to get it on my hubby (though he detests being a bpal guinea pig) Beth, you are amazing and totally did it again!!

I bought this bottle 2nd hand after a meet n sniff... and I must say that I don't get any of the aquatic that most people seem to mention... its buttery in the bottle... a little animalistic but not stinky or masculine... on it almost immediately goes floral... but not sweet... theres still the undercarriage of the butter that keeps it grounded... this is definately a good scent... and even though it was a winter moon, I like it just fine in summer!

mmmmmmmm... this is to the nose what massage is to the muscles... it is very green... a bit on the masculine side... but still neutral enough that I love to wear it... its really hard to type with nose glued to wrists... I can't pick out any notes in this - not that I'm particulary good at that to begin with - but this is a true blend... nothing sticks out they've all come together in harmony... I will wear this frequently during the summer... and wish like hell I'd gotten more than one bottle... oh well... that's what swaps are for

I love this scent so much. its this amazingly heavy scent that somehow doesn't overpower you. The sage sits underneath the fruit and floral (i smell a lot of rose in this one on my skin) and musk and amber and is present just enough to calm you down and say "this is all going to work out... you smell fabulous" this is a very sexy, very serious scent... it really turns the hubby on... I am sooooooo glad that I swapped for a 5ml of this... This is definately one of my "going out" scents

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
goddessrobyn replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
my favorite sexy scents are Perversion, Desire, and Wanda... the first makes me feel super sexy and the hubby loves it... the second 2 I can't apply before we leave the house or we won't actually LEAVE Le Petit Mort is another good one... I find that Beth takes great care in aptly naming her blends... if there is one with a sexual name it will have a sensuality to it... beyond that its just a matter of finding one that works for your chemistry -
I'm with Northernminx on this one... the scent is amazing in the bottle... and as a Southern gal myself I do love me a mint julep on a hot summah's day... but unfortunately once this hits my skin... my mint julep turns to powder... and I'm a-smellin' like a baby's bottom (a clean and powdered one... ) I will have to keep this to sniff in the bottle... and maybe see if it'll make a nice candle or other room scent...

I was so excited about this one as I amber... Unfortunately this goes from a wonderful amber smell in the bottle to an interesting lemon soap scent... to just soap. the amber seems to be coming out a little but more now... I can almost smell it under the soap... I'm very diappointed that this blend doesn't work for me... but at least I smell clean ETA: One of the things I really like about Beth's blends is that they teach you things about scents and perfumes... this one teaches patience... about 2 hours after I wrote this review... my wrists were glorious golden amber. I don't know if I can wade through the soap phase to wear this one again... but the amber is so delicious that I'm definately going to have to try

I wasn't really a fan of this in the bottle... but on its just lovely... the rose and the cactus flowers come out to play I'd say this scent is on the dark side of feminine... I don't like rose normally... but this one might just make me love it. I really like this and will definately add it to my big bottle list!! ~robyn

In the bottle this is pure butter... like warm butter cookies... As soon as it hits my skin, though, the butter disappears... nothing... zip... zero... nada... this is FLORAL with a capital F... really really sweet... like the boquet the flower girl carries... innocent... almost... cute... but really really really really nice A light daytime scent... very springtime... very fun... flirty... And I thought I didn't like florals... who knew... thanks, Beth! ADDED June 9: I cant remember if I've reviewed this or not... so here goes (again??)... On me this is every little girls dream perfume... grown up enough to not be "young" but without any sort of overt sexuality. Its a nice light floral (sadly on me none of the yummy buttercream i smell in the bottle...) which I normally don't like... but this doesn't get heady or cloying the way some florals do... its quite literally as if I were walking through a meadow of spring flowers... all day long

I bought 2 bottles of this prepared to love it... but there is something (the coconut???) in it that is the same as Snow White... and after about 10 minutes of lovely Andes Mint... it turns to this fake plastic coconut smell... after about 30 minutes... its just plastic... like the molded animal toys I used to get at the zoo when I was a kid... this will be going up for sale as soon as my heartbreak subsides

I just got the chaos run amuck swap so I'm planning to edit this as I try them to add on to my reviews... I tried one labeled 22 (so I gues thats XXII) today and though it smelled wonderfully floral in the bottle... by the time I drove to work (about 30mins) it was pure powder more to come... Previously reviewed by inkstone.

I got this a a gift from my birthday Sprite and OMG I love it!!!! its the perfect mix of cinnamon and floral... the perfect blend of sugar and spice... the ultimate duality of a feminine scent... LOVE!!! totally going on the big bottle list~!~

I was sooooooo excited about this one... bought the big bottle unsniffed... and am really disappointed This has MUCHA PIMIENTA (that's much pepper to you non-Spanish speakers)... I can pick up the ginger and the black tea and a bit of the milk... but no honey and no vanilla... As it dries it sweetens up some... I get other notes a bit but not like I had hoped for... I tried this yesterday and this morning I can still smell a VERY faint whiff of it on each wrist... NOW I get the blend I hoped for... Sudha Segara with a kick... Dana O Shee for the diabetic set... but unfortunately unless one were to glue one's nostrils to my wrist in an attempt to inhale them... nothing... I'm not tossing it in the swap pile just yet... I had such high hopes for it that its going to get at least one more trial... but... I fear its not long for my collection...

This is my favorite BPAL It has that very feminine floral scent to it... but there's a wonderfully seductive spruce undertone that makes it very sophisticated and very... grounded??... don't know if that's the right word... This is the scent that makes me want to get all dressed up for a night on the town... its high heels and little black dresses... and loads of glittering diamonds... its what I thought Snow WHite would be for me... but she's not... but this is!!
-
I LOVE grapefruit so I thought I'd love this... but No... it smells really... uck! on me... dead flowers is the only description that comes to mind... Smells exactly like it does in the bottle but MUCH stronger... gives me a headache... will swap when I have regular internet access again... was nice to try though...
-
So I finally got a little net access... and what do I do... reviews!!!! I KoD but as someone said he doesn't last long He starts out like what I remember CKOne smelling like (its been a while...) fresh and clean and citrusy but not like the orange isle at the local grocery store Then as he dries he's wonderfully peach-y... Its nice... soft... very CLEAN smelling... will be nice for days when I can't smell overly smelly
-
um... this scent makes me want to be naked... and preferably not alone... this is divine!!!! sexy, spicy, buttery, ... this is the smell of the New Orleans Hotel Room when Elliot and Lisa get kinky with the croisants in Exit to Eden... I tried this this weekend (got in a swap....) and I could not stop sniffing me... I actually (after a few or 12 glasses of wine) found myself licking my wrists... I turned the imp into a spray with my perfumers alcohol so that I can refresh more frequetly to savor the wonderfulness all over again... This is my new favorite perfume!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
goddessrobyn replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I had my first reaction yesterday... Dragon's Tears caused major rashies on my arms... so bad that I had to make the husband pull over at a gas station so that I could go scrub it off... I know for a fact that I don't have sensitive skin... I wear cinnamon blends all the time... and have worn several other things with dragon's blood so I know its not that... I can only assume its the "aquatic notes" (which if anyone knows what those are please PM me so that I might avoid in the future...) On a totally unrealted note... I use Lubriderm to mix my oils into when I want lotion... I've only done 1 or 2 but so far I like... ~robyn -
This scent did not work on me... I'm not sure what it was but it was the first non-patchouli thing that made the husband demand that I "never wear that again"... which is fine because there is something in it to which I'm allergic as after about 15 minutes my arms broke out in crazy little red bumps... I gues that must be the "aquatic" as several others of my favorites contain dragons blood with no such reaction... On me... the dragons blood is overshadowed by a sour bitter smell... like baby spit up... but in an incredibly strong heady resiny perfumey way... After about 3 hours (and some washing of the wrists to remove the casue of the itchy red bumps) ... this died down and it smelled quite nice... but I don't think I had much left but the dragons blood... So... for obvious reasons, this one goes to the swap pile... but I am glad I tried it... just wish I could definatively know what the yucky-on-me note is so that I can avoid in the future... will all aquatics do that or is it something specific??? guess I'll have to test and see!!!

I recieved this in a swap/sale from another forumite and i love it If anyone wants to get rid of theirs PLEASE PM me!!!! On me the incense comes out very strong... its very much the copal smoke of the ofrendas... in the background there is a field of the cempasucxhil (flowers of the gods) calling the spirits home... when its wet, I get a hint of the traditional mole placed on the alter... spicey chile chocolate sauce still warm from the stove... but that goes away as it dries this captures the day really well... as I said... I definately want more of this!!!!!

I got a decant of this from my loverly Austin folks when we met for coffee and OMG I love it!!!! I WISH that Beth would bring this back so that I could buy some!!!! I'm learning more about scents and I KNOW that I LOVE Dragon's Blood... on me... wet... this smells like a sweeter version of Chimera... spicy and sharp... but sexy and fresh... when it dries the spices settle a bit and its sweetness really comes out (rose I'm assuming)... 6 hours after putting this on its very subtle but quite nice... like cinnamon sticks that were soaked in amber... I will only wear this for special occasions since I have so little of it... but WOW!!! this one MUST come back!!!!!
-
I got this as part of a WONDERFUL swap faerie gift... and it is full of notes I LOVE!!! vanilla... ginger... mmmmm... unfortunately... those are apparently blended with notes that smell like incense leftovers on me... I so wanted to love this... but after 10 minutes... powder... smokey powder... but powder... But... cest la vie
-
I chose this one today without really knowing what was in it or the story behind the inspiration for it... I really love this scent... on me... wet, its intensely orange/pineapple with smokey undertones... but when it dries its a soft velvet-y vanilla-spice scent (even though it doesn't have any vanilla in it!) its very light and feminine exactly what I WANT Snake oil to be but is not... I may have to order a large bottle of this... especially since it doesn't seem to have much staying power... ADDED Dec. 1: I love the way this smells when I first put it on... its the juice from a fruit salad running down your mouth... As it dries, the frankense comes out more and it gets very incence-y... not in a bad way... just a dry and smoky version of that fruity smell from before... Overtime... the smoke over takes the fruit and it wafts away to where ever scents go when they leave us... The transformation doesn't take long... I love wearing this perfume but I always forget that by the time I'm into my first class at work (about 8:30... I'm up and dressed by 5:30) its already faded so much I can barely detect it...

got this free in my first order... first impression: Pledge On me: Pledge Later: Still Pledge... which sucks becuase I so love the name... but... I swapped it for something nice... and someone suggested that this would make a great room scent (as rooms can smell like pledge without getting funny looks) so now I'm putting it BACK on the wishlist so that I can try it... it IS terribly bright and sunshiny... and that's just lovely for the casa... just not for the cuerpo(body) ~robyn
