    Santa Doesn’t Need Your Help

I want to love this one, but I don't think it's meant to be. It's a sugar plum lavender blast at first, and then settles into sugar plum marshmallow, but never really anything that encapsulates all three notes. Still quite the soft purple scent though.

Come With Me, Loving Me to Death

I did not anticipate to like this, but hot damn, I was proven so wrong. A sniff from the vial/bottle does not do this one justice. It has a gorgeous dark chocolate cherry vibe of an opening, and then it leans into that dark cacao and musk.... A little bit to warm up and the orchid blooms and isn't overwhelming. Just a touch sweet, just a touch perfumey, all around dark and stunning. The black musk is well behaved and honestly didn't think black musk and black orchid were going to be such a fantastic combo. Will be slathering the rest of my decant and may consider upsizing!

    Filthy Peach Pulp

Holy bananas, Batman! I was anxious about the dark patchouli in this but it's surprisingly not bothering me!!! Now to scouring the secondhand market for a second bottle.... Anywho, peach blast on the opening that then settles to be a very, very, filthy peach. Very much peach and red musk, with extra dark musk in the back and fruity fig behind it. The amber helps with anchoring the scent, and wow I got an 8 hr wear from a light application. Very juicy peach that I LOVE.

    Civil Twilight

mmm sniff impressions from the bottle: definitely a fruity floral - peach, honeysuckle and a hint of lemon zing. weardown: ahhh now it's honeysuckle, peach and then the lemon! It's a lovely mid-summer blend imo and I'm not one to go near florals much, let alone actually wear one. It did have a moment of being dryer sheet/laundry detergent on me, which was baffling btw, but it did resettle down into an ambery floral that is a touch powdery. I do wish that the peach stuck around longer but it's at least there. it wears well through an 8 hour work day! happy to have had the chance to try this!

    Hierophantes

Sniff: whoa, perfumey right off the bat. I pick up on the bay leaf and then I think it's oakmoss and balsam after it. Nothing sweet here, so taht'll probably come out on my skin as it warms up. Weardown: very bay leaf and oakmoss, balsam hanging out. here's hoping that the fruits will come out as it warms up. oh, the fruits mellow everything out and this is gorgeous. I don't pick out one thing over another, it's all pretty blended on me. Great longevity - lasted a good 8 hours on me!

    The Divine Scientist

From the bottle, it's definitively a sparkling clean scent. Something that'd help with clearing your mind for the task at hand. Once applied, holy bananas. It is STRONG with very good throw, almost alarmingly good throw for just a few test dabs! My nose was not prepared! The cedar and juniper leaf warm up, and with the elderflower, this is a heavy clear floral. Clear as in its presence is very much there but the aldehyde gives it an airiness. This could have easily worn well all day but it was unfortunately a scrubber for me.

    Lightning Strikes the Future

There was nothing that could have prepared me for this one. I have no idea what fossilized amber was going to be like, and was very intrigued by how reactor coolant was going to be captured in a perfume. On initial sniff, it's cool, kinda refreshing, which I'm guessing is that ozone that's common in these Lightning strikes blends, plus something else (maybe cucumber that was previously mentioned???). This is super pleasant to wear and it lasted ALL DANG DAY in this stupid hot humid weather currently. Something about this goes slightly bubblegummy on me, which again, was not at all prepared for or expecting, and it sits wonderfully on top of the red musk and amber. It's not sharp or overwhelming (lightning strikes literature about choked me out). I love this and may go back for a backup bottle!

    Delight in Disorder

I do like BPAL's red and crimson musks, so I figured this would be a good blind buy... And it mostly has been! In the bottle it's a thick musky cherry that leans a touch medicinal but red musky. The cherry is unfortunately fleeting in the weardown, but I'm still left with a fruity crimson musk that lasts forever (read as all day and then some). It's fantastic for layering and/or as an anchor for some of my edps, so I'm glad to have picked up a bottle of this!

    Bobbing for Dodos

What a ride this was... A bright pink apple opening with the lemon behind it, and it's fun! Has potential! Then it takes a perplexing floral turn and it's...not bad, just interesting. The floral aspect eventually settles and this is more of a fruity musk with a little zing to it. I don't get the mango, which makes me a little sad. Anyway, this fades down fast on me which caught me offguard. I barely got an hour and a half before it became a vague fruity skin musk with something that doesn't agree with my nose. Unfortunately a scrubber for me.
  10. Better late than never to the party...? I made myself give this one a chance despite the indolic jasmine sniff right from the bottle... It is much more pleasant (way less indolic) on the wear down with the gardenia and mallow coming out more, too. Overall this is a creamy, softly sweetened, white floral that's not too heady (still more than I care for). If you enjoy jasmine and simpler blends, you'll like this. I have no strong feelings about this menage a trois, but boy, it wears for a good couple of hours.

    Dead Leaves, and Ginger Spice

I'm very pleasantly surprised that this one doesn't have the screechy DL note that I had only known of until now. The DL note here is sweet and earthy, absolutely wonderful paired with the ginger spice! It got close to becoming a yankee candle type of deal but somehow didn't, which I'm also thankful for - it's not cloying! The ginger spice is a bit disappointing imo. The ginger is very soft and I think I get more sweet cinnamon vibes. Still cozy and good in my book. Decent 5-6 hours wear

    Snootier Bat

My first experience with Snootier bat was in Jan 2024 and I was surprised! I didn't anticipate to like it but wowowow that sugared incense. Like why would I even bother with this when Snooty bat didn't catch my eye, but here we are. Sweet incense, very soft leather and black musk - I could vibe with this. THEN I REVISITED THIS TWO MONTHS LATER: bruh. what happened. It's a slightly sweetened leather blast with black musk close behind it, and I don't know where my beautiful sugared incense went😭 Great throw though, I'll give it that. I can also see this lasting a good 8 hours but I'll end up scrubbing it before that. Just...not for me lol. I don't do leather often and most definitely not with patchouli. So we're veering into headache territory. I'm glad to have tried this though - I get the hype of the snooty/ier bats.

    Fudge Marshmallow

As advertised! At least on me, it's more fudgy than marshmallow. It also reads as a drier fudge (cacao/cocoa?) than I expected, but I like a dusty chocolate note. I do appreciate that the marshmallow sticks around for the 6ish hour wear I got out of it. Glad to have snagged a bottle in the swaps!

    Shade

SO BUBBLY. Bright yet bitter! I had to try this since I enjoy the lab's champagne note, and this does not disappoint. Whatever the equivalent of a mimosa is but with grapefruit juice, this is it. I'm surprised that my skin isn't eating it up, which is a nice surprise. It's so odd to me how wearable the bitter grapefruit is though. This is going to be a fun Sunday Brunch scent! Good throw though almost a touch too much for my nose, good longevity too.

    Gingerbread & Candyfloss

I was really hoping this would be a fun gingerbread cotton candy kind of vibe, and I am sorely disappointed. The candy floss isn't giving the right vibes - it's just vague slightly pink sugar. It's unfortunately the least remarkable gingerbread (more bready than spicy, too) I have and no longevity. I get maybe a faint hour at best. I'll hang onto the decant though for reference.

    Ordering Imps

@jensdays it looks like they still offer a discount for 6 imps, but the new discounted price is 25.60$ (ouch...).

    Cherry recommendations

I'll chime in with another GC - Kabuki! if you don't mind anise. It's a nice cherry one to try (cherry, red musk and star anise).

    I Know You're Watching Me

RoseThornandOak's impressions are probably where mine lie... My spouse says it's baby powder...which isn't wrong but I wouldn't say right either. I LOVE the skin musk here but yeah, could do without the powderiness. The vintage aldehyde perfume note is interesting and is where I think the powder is. So, the first hour or two I have to tolerate what husb's calls stripper baby powder..and then it's a smutty skin musk that I cannot get enough of. It's got some good staying power though, I'll give it that.

    Balancing the Sake Cup

Orange blossom and I do not vibe, but I figured I'd do a teeny tiny test patch just to know what this could smell like... It's a bit sharp wet and in the bottle, and I think it's the spicy ginger and clove... On skin, tolerable but I don't love nor hate it. The dry down really makes me think of a dry sake which I don't think I was entirely expecting... It's overall a dry herbal on me that I don't care for.

    Spring Cleaning 2023 Q&As

Embroidery floss? Yeah, no thanks... I'm still playing catch-up with what I've had for a decade now lol. Seed beads? No thank you! Veggie seeds? If it's stuff that can reasonably be grown in a pot/bucket, sure. I don't have a green thumb but MIL does. Comic books? I enjoy them! Poetry? Sort of picky...but not opposed to them. Halsey's book was the last one I bought. PS1-4? I know we have PS but I'm not sure which one... 3 or 4. What size jigsaw puzzle would you like? 300, 500, 1000 pieces? Surprise me. I'm not big on jigsaw puzzles but my family does them over the holidays when it's a full house and a variety of activities are needed. Tarot cards? Yay or nay? Meh? I don't utilize them (or at least haven't figured out how I'd like to) but I love good art. My best friend gifted me a Salvador Dali tarot deck one year and it's goooorgeous. Music? Digital? CDs? What genre? I do have a soft spot for CDs. Uhm alternative rock? Think Linkin Park & Mike Shinoda, Hollywood Undead, I Prevail, Halsey. How about DVDs? Anyone still watch any of those? Very rarely, though I have a few very beloved movies on DVD that are my comfort movies! Unused notebooks? These would be handy dandy for the husb! I personally prefer journals. Do you like LUSH? Favorite scents? FUNNY YOU ASK THIS.... I just discovered Superworld Unknown and Tank Battle, and I am TORN. I am trying to steer away from the brand, but if you've stuff to rehome, hubs love the Sakura bath bomb and I love Twilight and snow fairy! My tastes in perfume translate to body & body products. Do you bake? Would you be interested in sprinkles or any cake/cupcake decorating stuff? I do but I'm good on sprinkles and decorating things. Would you be interested in receiving a scarf? Any color preference? No, thank you! Unless it's black or purple, and lightweight. I'll vibe with those. Would you be interested in receiving a hat? Any style or color preference? No, thank you! I'm just not a hat person unless it's cold AF out there. purse? I have a million purses and bags that I need to donate because I’ll never use them again! OH HO HO YES. I love a good purse and/or bag. My MIL would be interested in a purse that she could sling over her shoulder but isn't a cross-body type. OCYL? Any favorites? Any houses you would prefer not to receive from? I love OCYL! I love Arcana (both wildcraft and craves - looking for Arcana's lipstick and marshmallow LNs), Nui Cobalt Designs (April Fools and Critters are my two favorite collections), Stereoplasm, NAVA gourmands, and recently started to venture into Solstice scents and Cocoapink! I came into a bulk lot of Whisper Sisters the other week, and while the house is too patchouli heavy for me, some of her gourmands are SO good! I don't care for Sucreabeille unless it's the Wayward AF (Supernatural) or Broken Hearts collections. I'm generally open to most OCYL as long as they're scents that don't embrace my doom notes. Incense? Any favorite scent types? No, thank you. I prefer candles and wax melts/tarts over incense. Any chance that you are a fan of murder mystery/escape rooms in a box? Or does this sound like something you might like to try? I'd love to try to see if I do like them! We're looking to expand our collection for game nights. What are your feelings about booze, both my moonshine whiskey infusions or other interesting things that I have a lot of and bottles to share? Would love to try them! Would you use a brand new sealed package of organic matcha powder that has a best buy date of 2/23/23? I'd find a use, probably bake it into something yummy. On a scale of 1-10, how "gothy/goth-adjacent" are you? Probably 7 or 7.5 how would you feel about hair products like leave in conditioner, shampoo bars, texturizing products, dyes, etc.? I love leave-in conditioners! And we'd love to try more shampoo/conditioner bars if you have some unloved. Pass on texturizing products but medium hold pomades would be appreciated! As for hair dye...sure! I'm about to get my hair done but unsure what exactly my new hair shades will be lol. Do you need any pantry things like flours, sweeteners, or spices? We're okay on flours (husb went overboard when he was on a pasta kick). Sweeteners - I can't remember the names, but not the blue, pink or yellow ones. Stevia (green lol) has been okay and my MIL doesn't mind - we're open to trying other sweetener options for her (she's pre-diabetic and dragging her feet on changing her in-grained habits). I'd be open to trying new to me spices! We use paprika often and love peppercorns for freshly ground pepper!

    Easter Swap 2023

Only because I'm gonna lose track elsewhere. What is your favorite Easter candy? I love those chocolate covered marshmallow eggs! I'm always buying those at the Easter clearance sales. I low-key like the Peeps, too. I love trying the different flavored ones. Do you like Jelly Bellies? If so what flavors? It's been so long since I've had some jelly bellies!! I generally like the fruit ones, toasted marshmallow, and root beer! If there's a cola flavored one, I'd be all over it, too. Do you have a preference for plastic eggs, treat bags, paper, or no preference? No preference! I'm actually gonna see if I can get some plastic eggs second hand before purchasing any...but will be on the lookout for a greener alternative. I know I have the craftiness to make some but...I don't know if I have the time, considering how work's been draining me lately. Are you interested in some of my homemade brown sugar shortbread? ooooh yes! Open to any of your available flavor options, no strong preference for one or another. For those who don't like imps... In the case I find that I have something PERFECT for you in my collection that I want to share, would decanting into a squat itty bitty bottle with a screw top lid or rollerball be ideal? Imp vials don't bother me nearly as much, unless they're like the ones I see with Alphamusk (vial narrows to a neck, possibly more annoying to open without disaster than BPAL vials which are straight with no narrowing neck). do you garden? Would you like anything like seeds? Nooooooooo I have no green thumbs here, and our soil is godawfully rocky... If it's not already there, I don't want to try to add to it. I'll live vicariously through everyone else who gardens. Spring Chick o' Mine, I have a question about mugs! What are your general feelings on mugs/drinkware? This is brought to you by my hand painted egg mug I had received from a dear cousin several years ago...which I think would be cute to be stuffed with extra goodies because it's still an egg to stuff, right??? I am sort of picky with mugs, mostly because I prefer most of my mugs to be able to support a Vietnamese phin (standard mugs are generally good) and/or it has to be something I absolutely love (otherwise I'd have entirely too many mugs that I don't use). Also ideally dishwasher safe but not opposed to those that need a little extra care. HOWEVER, swaps are the exception to my rule - if you find something too good to pass up, go for it! I will make a place for it in my home😘 Glassware... I'd love to eventually own at least one piece of uranium glass (glows under a blacklight and is a nod to my degree). What are your thoughts on these? These are all so stinkin' cute!!! My soft spots are for the goldfish and hamster! LMK if you have any aversions/sensitivities to ACTUAL rose(s). As if someone were to send you flowers... No real issues, only excessive pollen makes me die a little. Would you be interested in any of these baked goods? Matcha or Hojicha shortbread - I'd be open to either, but I think hojicha more. Lemon/lavender/lemon-lavender scones - lemon lavender! I think these would be my first choice. Chocolate chip scones (made with Guittard chips) - mmm i'd try these! Would you be interested in any cute Easter/spring-themed cookie cutters? Hm. I don't usually bake or do much cookie cutting to really appreciate spring/easter shaped cutters. Is there a spring tea (or any other tea) that you might like, chick? Any of those spring teas (except for orange blossom) sound lovely! I'm trying to find some fun decaf blends to try, so go ham. I generally like fruits and dessert flavors. True Love and Cozy sound so good (gonna bookmark this shop for myself now lol). ETA since I've been informed that there's a low caff chocolate cherry tea, holy banana THAT would be like number one for meeeee. How do you feel about lambs as part of Easter? No strong feelings though I associate lambs with religion (hi, Roman Catholicism that I was raised in). Do you like bees? OH BOY DO I LIKE THEM. I LOVE THEM. Is your BPAL wishlist up to date? as up to date as I can keep it! (yes)

    Cacao and Cubeb

Like MamaMoth, I also enjoyed cubeb in Crib Girls which led me to this duet! This is dusty cacao that's a touch creamy, and the cubeb is zingy! It almost cinnamony and is the star for the first few hours of wear. Then it softens into that cacao with hints of cubeb, but more lemony cubeb. Throw is okay but good longevity. Pretty straightforward of a scent.

    Blood Popsicle

Admittedly I bought this because it came up when I had asked about cherry forward scents, and uhm, I'm disappointed in that regard. On the flipside, I'm digging the fruity (red and maybe a blood orange?), slightly spicy tang to this! There's a strange metallic tang to it that I can't place, but I love it. I only wish this lasted longer on me... My skin totally ate this up within two hours. I am the sad.

    Welcome Unto Thee

OKAY, THIS THING HERE. I finally got my grubby little hands on this because I love BPAL's champagne note. Holy bananas this was like a champagne single note! I did not get the marshmallow until hours and hours later, and at that point, it was like a hint of marshmallow under the champagne. Very fizzy in the bottle, just as fizzy on skin. Wishing I got more marshmallow but still a blind buy win.

    Unarmed and Laughing

hold on. I will have to come back to update this because I just realized I was wearing Welcome Unto Thee when I wrote that. No wonder that didn't make sense to me. ...I'M BACK WITH THE CORRECT 'FUME ON HAND. The lab's champagne note is still beautiful and sparkly. Very champagne forward opening, so I'm very on board with this. The vanilla is there but way in the back, hanging out. It definitely starts to come forward as this dries down, supporting the champagne. I think the amber holds it all down well (I do enjoy a lovely amber, but this does get a hair powdery, but think vanilla powder with a hint of sweetness). The ultimate dry down is a slightly powdery vanilla amber that, like what others have said, gives cream soda vibes. Good longevity.
